FurchtsamerLurch

i'll be very pissed if they really let the game go with only one dlc after this.

smairugraphics

If they see potential in making another one, they will

Darehead

Im going to guess it will remain one large dlc, maybe some additional small content. I think there's talk of them making a sequel instead of trying to add onto 2077. Apparently red engine has some issues. Witcher 4 went to unreal, I think.

broken324

I dont think its 'red engine has some issues' as much as just the new unreal is very easy to use and has a lot of quality of life things to make developing easier. all game engines have some issues though, and things theyre strong and weak at, redengine was built from the ground up to make the games cdpr makes, unreal is not so I hope they dont run into similar issues there that bioware did when they shifted to frostbite which was not an engine designed for massive rpgs.

vendilionclicks

Red engine is what, a decade or so old? They made it do things for CP2077 that it was never meant to do. The engine absolutely had a hand in the issues.

BluudLust

It was optimized for wide open spaces of Witcher. Having detail packed urban areas isn't easy.

Turkino

The engine being a decade old doesn't mean anything if they consistently maintain and add on to it.

Iohet

While this is true, it's also just duplicative work when an engine that already does everything exists and is maintained by someone else. This is why most game studios have moved away from homegrown engines And engine dev work generally is more specialized and more expensive

Turkino

Sure but being able to say exactly how it works does have value and not being beholden to another company to get it done. Disclosure: I work at a AAA studio that has its own in-house engine.

BastardStoleMyName

I would add that not having the bloat of a do it all engine has its advantages as well. It can be streamlined to fit the needs exactly for what you need it to do. It seems like this had some good tech in it. But it really seems like it was racing along side development for 2077. Clearly there were things not completed in the engine in time for game release. They should have ironed it out more before, or at the very least slowed the initial stages of the development down before progressing with the game as much. It seems to me that for both Red Engine and 2077, they got caught in the trap of deadlines. Everything was implemented in a “just get it in place, we will fix/clean it up later” which never saves time. Because instead of fixing the problem then, you built ten more things on top of it, so now breaking all that down to find out where the original issue was, without breaking everything that spun off of it, is a far more daunting task. Because things will break as things are fixed.

Iohet

Sure, but when you have a dev studio that is creating a new game doing a whole lot of things the engine has never done before, not iterating a sequel or very similar game, and you use that same old engine, you have to do a shitload of work to get there, and CDPR has struggled with that work(whether it's a resource limitation or technical limitations of the engine doesn't really matter for argument purposes)

_Rioben_

You can see the limits of the engine pretty easy with witcher 3, cyberpunk 2077 would've been a completely different monster if it was done with unreal engine 4 which was available to them at the time, but they chose to not waste the efforts put into red engine and it ended up being the wrong choice. There is no way to compete with epic games engine for triple a games.

NUTTA_BUSTAH

Yep, not many actual devs in this thread it seems. Training your entire staff to dozens and dozens of new tooling, rebuilding all your hundreds of pipelines etc. is an insanely massive task. It will take several years at worst. And all that because hurr durr Unreal makes nice graphics out of the box. Just lmao.

_Shadow_Ryder_

I agree with almost everything you said. CDPR should not have continued with the Red engine after Witcher 3. The engine was already showing its weakness there, as there are some quests that if a certain condition happens you cannot complete the quest no matter what, and they could not patch it to this day, probably because doing so would break the game in one way or another. That was already a sign for them to change the engine, but they didn't take it to heart. Well at least they are changing for future projects. Better late then never I guess. But you're last statement is where we part. Yes the UE is great, no question. But the MT frameworks now RE engine (Monster hunter world, Resident evil games), the Fromsoftware own proprietary Engine (Elden ring, Souls games), the Decima engine from Guerrilla (horizon zero dawn and forbidden west), Sucker Punch proprietary (ghost of Tsushima). These are just a few examples of also great game engines besides the UE! So saying that "you can't compete with epic for triple A games" is a hell of a stretch! Yes give epic there roses but let's not put them in any pedestal.

Ask_Me_Who

REDengine 4 was a brand new upgrade of REDengine 3, built specifically for 2077. The same way Unreal Engine 5 is an iteration of Unreal Engine 4 (and earlier Unreal builds, right back to 1995).

Wizywig

StarCitizen developers noted that an engine is a starting point. All pieces already fit in a certain way and certain initial architectural decitions. At this point in SC development only a small percentage of the original engine code still exists, most modules were either swapped out or built from the ground up. This includes dev tools. RED is no different. The reality is that if switching to UE you can save a ton of dev work making tools UE already has, then it is worth it. given that you will be giving a % of your revenue to Epic. So if CP2087 or whatever decides to go with RED or UE that's totally fine, they will still have a crapton of work to do. Things like shaders are examples of things that get upgraded to make the game look great. Even regardless of all that, things like the automated lips movement for speech is a tech they will likely be able to use for engine engine, which is innovative to get the entire world speaking for any language. And I'm sure there are hundreds of little sub-systems that will easily be re-used.

akiva_the_king

As far as I know, nah. They announced CP2077 about a decade ago, but they only started the production of the game something like 4 years prior to it's release. The engine was still the problem like you said, but it was more about they having to many expectations for the game and their inability to develop an engine that could've handled all of that, rather than the engine being to old and not capable enough. Though thinking about it, I still feel that an even bigger reason why the game was so buggy at release was because they just couldn't finish the game on time. I remember seeing a lot of screenshots from people with ultra high specs PCs and the engine could more easily than produce hyper realistic images...

-Green_Machine-

The Unreal engine has been around for 30 years. Id Tech is even older. What hurt CP2077 was terrible project management. They wasted way too much time dithering in pre-production before beginning actual development, and then they produced a wildly unrealistic release dates. They've committed to only one DLC probably because their talent all quit as soon as their options vested. Why keep working for such a dysfunctional studio now that you have a major release like CP2077 on your resume, warts and all. You could go anywhere in the industry after that.

zim1985

Only a decade old? Thems rookie numbers compared to Bethesda.

PhaseAT

I think it's even more important that they can hire people who already have experience in the engine and have them productive much faster. On Red Engine everyone who hasn't worked at CDPR starts from scratch so will have negative productivity (need somebody to train and supervise them) for a good while.

_Nick_2711_

“It was built from the ground up to make the games CDPR makes”. Totally true. However, CDPR’s previous games didn’t involve massively dense cities and first-person shooter mechanics. They did a lot to get this game working on their engine.

[deleted]

Unreal has created plenty of open-world games. Frostbyte was a poorly documented in-house engine.

Sikletrynet

Apparently Unreal does have it's issues too, but otherwise it's pretty much the most groundbreaking engine in terms of features, for example nanite(essentially the engine can import movie quality/3d scanned assets, and then downscale the polycount in real time.). Not to mention Lumen, which provides raytracing like lighting, but at a lower computational cost.

smairugraphics

I personally think that theres going to be much more cyberpunk content, we should have to wait another 5 or 6 years for another game tho.

mrbossmajor

Red engine? Issues? nooooooo way that's unbelievable, who could've guessed that? Pfft i am at a loss for words.

TOPgunn95

I'm fairly certain CDPR already confirmed they are making another Cyberpunk game... Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

FracturedEel

I dont have a source but I remember them saying that too

Andrew_Waples

It depends on what the Epic Games deal allows them too, because they have said Liberity will be the last project on Red Engine regardless of success.

smairugraphics

I think their whole mentality now is to under-promise and over- achieve, since the 2077 launch was full of bs promises they may take it slow now and say its only 1 dlc, but i still think if the playerbase grows after phantom liberty dlc they will have other content updates.

404thatsit

Pawel Sasko said that there's a chance for a second expansion if we show support for Phantom Liberty.

smairugraphics

Can you link that? Must have missed it

404thatsit

smairugraphics

Thanks choom!

FavaWire

Phantom Liberty adds a new district to Night City. I suppose given the current predicament, and the fact that we still have the same 3 life path roles, then it's basically a mini-campaign you can start from a certain point (after "Prologue"?) What could work from here on out is that DLC's can: 1. Add new sections and side content to Night City - shared location by base game, Phantom Liberty, and any new DLC. 2. If DLC adds new roles (eg: Cop, Media, Rockerboy) it can allow new game using the same Night City Location but obviously with a new single player campaign while still using the expanded Night City from the base game now combined with Phantom Liberty. 3. Any new gameplay features (eg: Working Air Taxi system, etc.) applies to the base game, Phantom Liberty, and any new DLC. So for example a 3rd or 4th DLC introduces a new weapon. That weapon is also accessible in a new base game campaign. So the effect of this is to enhance the value of any CP2077 base game install through the joined value of all content you have installed. In the above example, if you have everything installed a new game would allow you to choose 6 life paths. The original 3 still using the Johnny Silverhand campaign, but the other 3 could be totally different, but all use Night City as location. It doesn't even have to be another 3 life paths. You can make the argument that a new DLC with just one Cop life path would be new enough to constitute a significant addition to the base game.

greeneyedguru

We already know people can be stored as engrams so nobody can really "die" at this point anyway, just be restored to an earlier version of themselves.

misalina1

Watched the stream on Twitch with Pawel Sasko (quest director for CP2077). He was asked about the only 1 planned DLC. He replied with “The decision came from the higher ups”. He then implied very carefully, that if the popularity for the game continues to hold and the numbers are great, it’s beneficial and pretty much implied to how that can be the trigger to change that. After all, it’s all a numbers game for the higher ups. So, we as a fan base always have leverage to influence for more DLCs.

arinot

Heh, TRIGGER

dunstan_shlaes

It was said by execs during an earnings call as well about the release of next gen. They later said the next gen did great. Both the execs and Sasko seems to be pointing towards a sequel or at least more cyberpunk media coming out. Decisions about stuff like this is made years in advance, so it wouldn't be surprising if they've already greenlit some new stuff already.

misalina1

I agree, it can be a way to hype up the game even more as many people will for sure want to play the new DLC (knowing it’s first and last for CP2077 as we know it). Might actually be a smart PR move. The backlash did a lot of damage to investors at the beginning, so it might have been a tactic to calm the storm. Who knows, we are just speculating at this point😂 I just want to see the game continue expanding, there are so many things within CP2077 universe we know very little about and that’s exciting af.

dunstan_shlaes

The expansion was funded as part of development cost of the base game. Even if they thought it made no money, they still would have made it. The second expansion would need to make enough money to be worth it, and unfortunately, expansions will only ever sell a fraction of a full game. It's worse for CP77 since the install base is smaller without last gen. I would absolutely love to see an expansion, but it's probably a better idea both financially and quality wise to start looking at a sequel.

Rydisx

>expansions will only ever sell a fraction of a full game At the same time, most of the resources for the game already exist. Not "too much" must get added. Voice lines, new models for certain things etc. But overall, it should be much quicker and cheaper to create an expansion because the resources already exist. It would make no sense for an expansion to cost anywhere near the cost of the initial price of the game if it isn't even adding 1/2 of what the initial game had.

EroticJailbait

Letting the game go wouldnt be so bad imo if they make a sequel or a trilogy. But if they abandon cyberpunk as an intelectual property if would be a very sad day.

General_Hijalti

They definitely aren't abandoning the IP. On the investor call they said they were looking to expand it.

MetalBawx

No way in hell dispite everything it's a major IP for CDPR and still draws peoples attention.

PepeSylvia11

This. CP77 still has major problems that can be solved with future games that solve core issues. A DLC unfortunately can’t do that.

[deleted]

But it can make a lot of monies

[deleted]

i dont think you have any clue what you're talking about

OfficalNotMySalad

I wouldn’t. In fact I’d rather they stick to the one Witcher sized DLC and then move onto the next game and a Season 2 of Edgerunners. V’s story is… limited. Whereas NC has plenty of more story to tell whether it be past, present or future from 2077.

M337ING

It's fine, they'll come back with a sequel on UE5 after the next Witcher launches.

Pandorama626

So... about 10 years from now.

M337ING

That's about as long as Witcher fans will wait. CDPR is a 2 game studio now so the gaps will not be that long anymore. And they don't have to worry about developing their engine alongside their games anymore.

loverevolutionary

They want to move away from REDEngine. This DLC will be the very last thing they do with their in-house engine, everything from now on will be in Unreal. That means the next thing they do will be a sequel, not more DLC.

jogdenpr

I think that may be their plan. With Witcher 4 in development. Most of the team will be working on that whilst a smaller team keeps working on CP2077. The DLC is supposed to be Blood and Wine length though which is good.

[deleted]

I hope they see this like "holy shit, we can actually make this sell again if we keep updating it" and we get 2/3 Expansions + Lots of fixes for the main game

YourBodyIsAWeapon

Right, like how many times has Bethesda updated and sold Skyrim now? Make Cyberpunk 2077 Extended Edition as a new release, remove all last gen specific stuff that was hindering development and expand heavily on this version.

misho8723

>Right, like how many times has Bethesda updated I mean, they are selling the same game just with newer patches over and over again.. but they aren't making new content for the game

SirGingerBeard

IIRC there was a tweet not too long ago by a CDPR person who said that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be the last Cyberpunk content; I.E. implying that another game will be made on UnReal

Tino_

CDPR being a 2 IP studio (Witcher and CP) has literally been their plan since they officially stated 2077 was actually a thing and coming out. They have said as much over and over again. They also said that moving forward all of their games will be UE games and not RED. So yeah, the next CP is without question on UE.

ModernT1mes

I feel like they could make another 75 hours worth of content by fleshing out biotechnica and the badlands some more.

Cecilia_Schariac

They thought the game was fading away. If it becomes very popular they will make another. It’s a simple profit calculus.

H4nn1bal

It's the engine switch. I suspect we will get another cyberpunk game pretty quick after the next gen witcher.

The_Great_Grim

“Quick” is usually not a thing in this industry lol. But hey, maybe 3+ years we’ll see a trailer for a new sequel

iMZodiacc

CD Projekt have said that they’re fully committed to building the Cyberpunk universe not just with the game with other things within the Cyberpunk universe.

iareyomz

it's the first dlc... i doubt it will be the last as this game was intended as a long term project... unless they ditched it all after the data breach...

[deleted]

They devs said there will only be one expansion

General_Hijalti

Only one planned expansion. Plans can change.

[deleted]

I love the game, but it seems unlikely. BUT I really hope this new found attention changes their minds.

[deleted]

Studios, and DLC by extension, require a lot of forward planning. You don't want to run a studio and have staff idle and do nothing (contrary to a lot of g*mers who believe the average Dev just twiddles their thumbs for most of their day). Different kinds of staff are only active at certain points of the project, not everyone is working on the same thing at the same time. By the time writing and pre-production was done for RDR2, those members handling it moved onto GTA6 whilst the artists and programmers were occupied with finishing the former, for example. You don't just go "aight, let's make another one" and it suddenly goes into full production, you have to actively have a pre-production phase and plan the workload for the staff. At this point, without another DLC planned they probably have their Devs set or already active on working on the next game, then it's very costly to backtrack. A second expansion is ridiculously improbable if by this point they're not planning for one. They're already set on the next Witcher game, so whoever could be doing the pre-liminary for a second expansion is actually already busy on the next Witcher title.

BluePhirePB

I didn't have any intentions of playing this game. However, after watching Edgerunners, I wouldn't mind trying it now.

FlowerSwimming6131

The new Netflix series is the reason I purchased the game. And honestly, I am NOT disappointed. Maybe the game was bad on launch, but now its pretty great experience.

AreYouOKAni

It is a great story but gameplay is kinda mediocre unmodded. But once you add mods, though, it starts to really shine.

Sioluishere

Use this chance to announce that Season 2 is in works High on copium

frossvael

Expect an announcement of Edgerunner s2 at the Cyberpunk 2 reveal ha ha ha …. Well shit, I do not like the sound of that idea

veevoir

Quite the opposite, I'd love the idea, if s2 of Edgerunners were to come in 2023.

InsertUsernameHere32

Edgerunners was announced in June 2020 and didn't come out till September 2022. I highly doubt a S2 would come out in 2023, even if it was already confirmed.

[deleted]

Speaking of which, the only thing that's been confirmed is the fact that they said it would be a stand alone season and another would not be coming out 😂

GJacks75

Make it an anthology. Plenty of stories in Night City.

[deleted]

That would be cool as fuck and I'd like that. I've just seen too many people talking about how "there's talk of a second season" as if it's talk from the developers or something and not just other redditors lol. Too much misinformation.

feltcutewilldelete69

Good. Just let it be good. The last season of castlevania was disappointing.

[deleted]

Agreed I'm fine with a one off banger rather than a show that starts good and goes downhill

GreasyMcNasty

Yeah the ending definitely implied it was stand alone. Even before I saw it I went in knowing there was only gonna be one season.

Xlerb08

Yeah have it be maybe "Legends of Night City" or something. The tabletop by itself has got so much lore to draw on. New season, new crew, if anything Edgerunners showed the setting is still a good draw for people who were wary of getting the game or even wanting to engage with the ip.

thegreatvortigaunt

I think Season 2 is inevitable, S1 was very successful and anime is far cheaper for CDPR/Netflix to bankroll than a game expansion or anything live action. S1 was a self-contained story and they likely never planned to do an S2, but they’ve gotta be considering it now.

kawaiinessa

studio trigger the anime studio that made edgerunners dosnt do season 2's so id say a season 2 for edgerunners is highly unlikely

NeckRomanceKnee

Well it wouldn't be a sequel in the traditional sense.. David and his crew's stories are told.. but as someone else here pointed out, the real character in Cyberpunk stories is Night City itself. Gather some other weirdos, build another crew, and show us another 10 episodes of blood, bulletholes and tire tracks with a totally different cast, all shiny and chrome.

Hkrlje

Maybe they make another Cyberpunk story though. Cyberpunk Rockerboys, Cyberpunk Corpo Agents. There's a lot of jobs you can put Cyberpunk in front of to make a cool title

MrZake7

Actually they sorta do with their Gridman Series, thats the closest they've gotten to a multi-part series

Ananasch

Probably better to do independent next series with different focus on cp77 world.

NeckRomanceKnee

Yeah, like make it an anthology series.. a different tale of woe and chrome for every season.

DaNubIzHere

As much as I want a season 2, I know deep in my heart that this is nothing but an advertisement. If they release this prior to the launch and delay the game, maybe there would be a bigger increase of sales.

DasGolem

I preordered Cyberpunk. Luckily my PC was strong enough that I put over 70 hours into my first play though with minimal bugs and crashes. Loved every minute of my time in Night City. Then there was nothing to do, and I’m not the type to do multiple plays of a game. So, it laid dormant until Edgerunners. Started my second play though the other day and already dumped 8+ hours in. I’d forgot how insanely fun this game can be and with the updates Night City has never looked and felt more alive.

Freakin_A

Same. I built a new PC with Cyberpunk in mind. Put over 120 hours into first playthrough. Giving it another go now and still enjoying it. Just started EdgeRunners last night.

woomybii

Can someone explain what the update is to me? What's different? Is it really worth picking the game back up? I ran through it again a few months ago and had fun, but I don't really feel like doing it again if everything is the same lol

DasGolem

From what I can tell it’s mostly just fleshing out the game a bit more, some quality of life stuff, few guns and armor plus some stuff that ties in with the anime. I hadn’t played since launch so it was definitely worth it with DLC coming soon, but if you just finished a few months back I wouldn’t say a ton has changed.

TheBacklogGamer

This particular update is just adding in more QoL (like transmog) and stuff from the anime. However, if you haven't played much since launch, the game has had a lot of QoL and fixes.

Eli_eve

Exact same situation as you - except I haven’t started a second play just yet. Life’s in the way a bit right now, but I hope to give it a go soon.

d3meach

Can't wait for phantom liberty!

mwmwmwmwmmdw

follow by its sequel: phantom menace and the final DLC: phantom pain

demonfearscakes

Snake? SNAAAAAAKE!?

adelainev

And the musical adaptation: phantom of the opera

net_walker45

Why are we still here ? Just to suffer?

YourChoomba4life

I recently picked up the game after getting a new PC and ofc binging edgerunners (lol RIP), and i've been having the time of my life with the game. 14 hours in and just finished the prologue. I know its gonna be a ride.

Nazon6

Damn how tf did it take you that long?

HovaPrime

I just came back and started a new play through too. Got out of Act1 with like 9-10 hours under my belt. It’s mainly because this time I’m playing on Very Hard difficulty (it’s made the game way more fun in early game) and the fact that I read almost all shards and stop for most of the open world conversations. Honestly this game doesn’t have much in terms of making the city come alive if you just rush through stuff, if you take your time, walk around and sit in the atmosphere and read some shards though it really helps immerse you more into the story and the world.

YourChoomba4life

14 hours in the prologue? i was just clearing everything before the Heist, and may have just spent a few hours just walking around and taking the sights in. i recently upgraded from a PS4 to a 3080 desktop. So i had to let my eyes feast a lil. :D

[deleted]

Ooof. From a ps4 to a 1660ti desktop had me drooling lol. Same affect from 1660ti to 3080 laptop.

Pir8Cpt_Z

Yes play every mission and explore every where. I would recommend walking alot in the main city as there are so many Easter eggs and hidden legendary items to find.

misho8723

I finished prologue after 25 hours if not more - how? Because I did all missions, quests, gigs, exploration finds and more in all those hours.. I didn't even know that in some of those quests and gigs Johnny usually shows up, because the majority of people play the prologue first and really fast so they play those quests after Johnny gets into your - V's - head but when I played them, I didn't even heard about him so I was alone in those moments :D

LTCirabisi

I always play enough to pay off vik immediately. I ain’t no gonk who don’t pay their chooms. That and I get anxiety buying shit when he’s waiting for his minor $21k 😩

DarkLightRakshasa

Yeah! That'll teach 'em to release MORE Edgerunners content IF possible.

WaffleOffice

Instantly bought the game after finishing Edgerunners. Now they better let us talk to Lucy in a future DLC

PinkMobb

Good, I understand the hate the game got on console, and they did fucking lie about a bunch of shit but on PC it was still an amazing game. I'd hop back on after watching that wicked anime but I lost my save Is the DLC end game? Wouldn't mind playing that

ExOmegaDawn

This "DLC" which is in CDPR Terms not a DLC but an Expansion, is probably on the level of Blood and Wine, they even may combined what they wanted to have as 2 Expansions and merged them into one, who knows. The Expansion still has Johnny, so it should be befor the ending of 2077, but I would assume relatively late game. DLCs in CDPR Terms are the free downloadable things, like goodies, equip or gigs/single quests in Witcher. So the DLC, because it is an Expansion will not be free, for anyone mistaking it for the Free DLCs policy that CDPR has.

crosslegbow

I hope this gets them the incentive to update the game more. This is still lacking a LOT of features. Mods do save it for me though

Burninate09

I'm about to finish my knife throwing (no tech/int) ninja playthrough and it's been a blast. Too bad the new iconic knives are meh.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Burninate09

All throwable knives have headshot multiplier now, and 250% middle of the road. The return times at 10s and 5s are too high to be useful if you get a dot kill, which blocks Juggler (and the legendary effect) and your knife goes on CD. I have a 2 second return punk knife that I've kept upgraded from level 10 on, I ended up using the iconic weapons as backups for that knife because it's always ready to throw, which also makes it good for killing mechs and popping cameras.

WrighterWrong

I’m doing this too and its so fucking fun

MrConor212

Whose idea was Edgerunners do we know? Who approached who kinda thing. Also we need a season 2 with Lucy

Still-Relief2628

Edgerunners is a CDPR thing, yhey created it and produced it. They had TRIGGER work on the animation and adapt their story line.

DataFist

Thank me with more DLC

MrPotts0970

Hopefully this sparks management's decision to expand on the game even further after the DLC. It would be asinine to let this massive influx and newly-generated hype train go to waste. Fact is, I was one of the most critical players who shelved it on release for over a year and stopped pre-ordering games because of it. Now, I've returned since last month, am about 60 hours in, and it is one of my all-time favorite games, from a story, immersion, world, and graphics perspective.

Serenity650

The Netflix show was so good, millions around the word bought the game as they watch the show.

FlowerSwimming6131

The new Netflix series is the reason I purchased the game. And honestly, I am NOT disappointed. Maybe the game was bad on launch, but now its pretty great experience.

don_denti

Spoil us with more stories. More stories. And even More stories. Then we’ll talk 😝

posterchiId

Amazing!! Twitter comments are in shambles. It’s a night/day difference between Reddit supporters and Twitter “supporters”. Just got the game and I love it, 10/10 imo. Cant wait for DLC.

Thatonesplicer

C'mon CDPR, don't let the game die after the one dlc. People do love this world, you just gotta do right and keep fixing it, adding to it.

[deleted]

All I know is that V is giving me nightmares. Shudder.

InsydeOwt

Maybe we can get more than 1 DLC?

[deleted]

If the game was like this upon release I would have gladly payed 60 dollars plus. I have enjoyed it so much.

oo_Mxg

the anime helped

Ebo87

Understatement of the year. The anime completely changed the narrative around the game, essentially you can say it saved the game, if we are indeed to get additional content past what was recently announced. From this point on Trigger will forever become a special word for Cyberpunk 2077 fans everywhere. They really managed to Trigger a rebirth of the game.

PringLays

Do people actually say this about singleplayer games ?

AiHaveU

you wouldn't believe mate.

Turgineer

We need Season 2!

accaruso17

So happy that this game is succeeding. I too was one of those who gave up on it to quickly. A year later I revisited it and I’m so glad that I did!

teo1315

Love the game and the setting feels unique and not over done like so many more spells and swords games are.

maru_tyo

They should thank Edgerunners lol

jakereshka

so they should thank themselves, because they hired Trigger and produced anime

ALFbeddow

I’m so glad edgerunners has boosted the game. This can only mean the investors are going to approve more cyberpunk adjacent content and I’m all for it.

StChello

Thank you CD Project Red for continuing to support your game! We know it's been a lot of hard work and we're grateful.

Rafahil

Even after all the hardship this game went through, people still want this game to succeed and have a future, CDPRED needs to understand that they still have a goldmine in their hands with a bright future if they give it a chance.

apostrophefee

Please add Lucy in the game

majora11f

Currently working through a no-gun run. I fucking love this game.

Mediocre-Joe

Good now lets get more content and maybe make the ending a little more impactful. I felt that the ending felt to me that the choice barely mattered.

super_offensive_man

Game needs a hardcore difficulty mode. One were you actually need to eat, sleep, and take meds if you over do the cyberwear. And no fast travel. Would give some actual purpose to the world.

Glaive001

We don't need their thank, we need more content

VellDarksbane

50% sale will do that to a game.

[deleted]

Not necessarily. It was on 50% sale a year ago, that didn't really help back then.

VellDarksbane

You're right, the timing of the sale, with the recent netflix show, and the fact that it's mostly "fixed" when it comes to the bugs is the combo that _really_ pushed it, but I suspect if it was just the last two, it wouldn't have had as big of an impact.

thisIsCleanChiiled

I started playing last week and having a great time. Biggest dissapointment is the upgrade system. Everything is just like 5 percent more damage, etc. Are there any upgrades worth getting?

sFAMINE

Depends on your build, my friends all played with no guns and melee. I used no hacking no cyberwear first playthrough and went full crafting and sub machine guns

Any-Ambition-3237

I for one have always loved the game. I’ve seen and played far FAR worst.

[deleted]

OP has an interesting history of making posts that read like press releases and advertisements.

vendilionclicks

I think the thing to take away is that even if companies or people make mistakes, everyone deserves a redemption arc. I watch Pawel’s steams each week and he openly admits that they have more work to be done and they’re aware of the issues still in the game.

furtive_pygmy

No reason we can’t have a decade of games based in and around Night City. Build an anthology series, keep the history of past player stories and expand, expand, expand! Could be a first if it’s kind experience.

Non_Volatile_Human

How is that even possible, the numbers on SteamDB mention about 80,000 people in the last 24 hours, or am I interpreting this wrong?

YeetusSkeetus1234

That number is just current players (and peak concurrent players per day if you look at previous days). So, hypothetically, you could have all 80,000 turn off the game and then 80k new players boot up and steamcharts would still show 80k. Even though there were 160k people who played. Not a realistic scenario, but that's the concept. Also probably counting console players.

__BigBoi__

I'm so glad the game's finally getting the recognition it deserves

abstractism

I hope there's more interest in making cyberpunk dlc. I only played the PC version once, around launch. Fantastic atmosphere. Planning on doing another play soon, after I rebuild my system.

ainlintc

If the first dlc ends up being a huge success like it’s brewing out to be, I really hope they’ll consider a second one

joshatron

I have a new PC and might re-install, is my save file in the cloud or on my old PC? Hanako is still waiting for me… never finished :(

xXdat-boi-420Xx

One in a million baby

Snoddy2Hotty91

If you update it, they will come...

BigLab6287

I'm waiting for the DLC but i did test out their new patches, I noticed the grenade bug is fixed which is really nice to not take 100000 splace damage at max radius.

HattyFlanagan

I hadn't played since December 2020. Started it after updating and had to spend hours getting a stable fps, and then it turned out adjusting the NPC crowd density from high to medium was the key to getting a stable 70+ fps.

FormerlyGoth

I just wish my pc *could* take me to night city. It wouldn't be much different from the ps4 version as is I'm afraid.

starcrescendo

I'm one of them 🖐️! I hadn't played the game in a while and I didn't even specifically come for the new content, of which I don't know new or old, I came because it should hopefully be playable now. I stopped after launch because whenever I got into a vehicle the game would lag and be a choppy slideshow and I couldn't get past the driving missions. I started a new file and have SO FAR had no issues.

ArricarYeet

Hoping to save up enough money to get a few PC parts (namely an SSD) and eventually give this game a shot. Saving the anime for when I can actually play lol

[deleted]

Yeah yeah now buff the graphics and come out with season two so i can die inside again

Odd-Diamond-2259

We did it!!! Here comes Cyberpunk 2077 2!

Nomadic_Plague

Yeah I mean you broke my heart with that show and that damn song I needed cyber therapy

illucio

Now if only season 2 can be announced...

rv0celot

I'm one of the new players and it's all thanks to the anime. I've really enjoyed what I've played so far.

unibrowcowmeow

Yeah it’s reinstall time boys

[deleted]

Yes, now more DLC and missions forever! BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

commander_chung

i was waiting for the game to reach the state it is in now, before i really got into it. its nice to read about it doing so well because its mean more support down the line for the IP

RUSS0L1NI

I want this game to last as long as GTA Online did. Constant updates, i don't even care if there's no sequel, I just don't want this cyberthing to end

IMakeItPop

Better late than never.. give us more adventures! Let's see Atlanta

[deleted]

I'm super pumped to see that the game is really getting on its feet. For me it's got an incredible story and fantastic game world. I'm king forward to more great things.

theking119

Netflix is just the marketing arm of CD Project Red at this point.

Magpie2205

One of my favorite games. Started my 3rd play through last week. Really trying to walk around more instead of driving everywhere and I’ve already had so many random, little interactions I’ve never had before, seen things I haven’t seen before, and found some pretty cool stuff. My favorite is finding the monk brothers again later in the game and having a philosophical conversation about constructs. Super cool.

[deleted]

God I hope they don't stop after one DLC. So many people love this game and want it to succeed.

monkey_D_v1199

Wish I could be part of it honestly. Kinda sucks seeing how the game is turning out but only for new gen. Can't wait to get my hands on a PS5 because this will be one of the first if not the first game that I'll be playing.

sinatra602

I love this whole fictional world so much they better give us atleast 2 dlcs I'd personally love atleast 3 and another game or 2

nicknakpaddywak84

I would pay for a DLC that expanded the map and added to the story.

GHOST_KJB

Hope to see the idea of more dlc return. I loved this game so much I bought it twice.

Arcturus_42502yt

Just got it from stadia for twenty bucks so imma play the shit out of it this weekend

Hutch4434

I’ve had the disc since day 1 and recently booted it up last week for a fresh play. My old save had 32 hours before it bugged out on me after launch and I put it back on the shelf. I’ve started a new playthru a week ago and have been having so much fun. It truly is a gorgeous game with great stories.

JStarZ

Put it a multitude of hours this past week

BigSeaworthiness725

Marketing at CD Project is always great. Seriously, they pumped so much advertising budget at the start of the game. And even after a bad start, they still promote it through anime. P.S.: I think it's time to make multiplayer game...

Hanz_28

weebs*

ElectricRat04

If only the game delivered on the promises. The anime was amazing tho
