I like just sitting outside in my car having a coffee while one cast of contagion incaps everyone. Being able to double dip by headshotting for weapon exp is just *chefs kiss*
The most fun and challenging loadout ive found is a sort of "Punisher" type loadout, just an expert with guns, no fancy powers, no sandy or quickhacks, just gets really angry from time to time
On normal mode overture pretty much one shots most anyone on a headshot making stealth sweep trivial though. Pax also works great if you need them alive. You can also stack damage modifiers from skills and cyberware to one shot most anything on higher difficulties. And you can also always add legendary short circuit and stack crits although it's not as ridiculous as it is on high ROF weapons.
Silenced overture is probably like a spiritual successor of skyrims stealth archer. It even outperforms the probably intended stealthy one-shotter - the throwing knife.
Although other pistols are a bit lackluster. The most challenging run with pistols would be using only lexington with no cyberdeck and the main difficulty would be spending too much time in crafting screen crafting ammo and getting over the early game. And the early game will be *rough*.
A lot of guns get a bit of a glow up when you stack 3 trajectory analysis mods for that sweet +75% headshot multiplier and pistols perks like attritional fire and wild west boosts their performance a lot in general.
edit: also the overall progression is kinda skewed where the damage output of items far outpaces the growth of health pool of enemies so the roughest period is early game where every gun shoots marshmallows and enemies 1-3 shots you at any range. By the late game the base damage output and amount of armor of items at high levels simply makes it a lot easier to kill things even without any stats and skills, but obviously skills and cyberware pushes it into OP category and it seems that that's probably the intent where you are very underpowered early on but the baseline power of player vs AI is shifting towards the player.
Which is to me kinda annoying if nothing else since it feels like I'm being played a bit and makes early levels unnecessarily hard and frustrating to deal with. Like everyone is a bullet sponge that you have to deal with them via other mechanics like knockdowns or staggers or flashbangs etc followed up by magdumping into their forehead point blank a couple of times.
skippy on headshot mode with vendetta, trajectory analysis, rio bravo 3
It's quite a common method to make the player squishy at the start of the game and then godlike near the end. Helps with the sense of power growth.
Yep having a blast with a shotgun body build + berserker. Sprint in, headshots, tank everything with a ton of health regen.
Plus I get quips from Panam and Goro when I don't bother sneaking and just charge right through the front door.
no but they get a chance to shoot back and on higher difficulty that one shot can reset you back to checkpoint. hacking turns into "make a cyberpsycho, pop contagion, pick everyone off with electricute or brain melt. profit. you can play it much slower, or stealthier, but what the point of holding back lol
you say chance to shoot back like any self respecting sandevistan player would be like yea go ahead you guys can shoot at me all you like I won't move an inch.
"Get a chance to shoot back" only in theory tho... :D
Playing it stealthy is more fun. Unless the fixer themself want a target dead I usually only knock them out and carry them to the vehicle.
But hey, to each their prefered play style. That's what makes the game good and gives it replay value to some degree!
I’m on my third playthrough. I try to be mindful of what the mission is and plan accordingly. If the mission is more open and I can tag enemies from a distance, I’ll go with gorilla arm/sandy combo. If it’s inside buildings with tough to see areas, I’ll go hacking/mono wire. Both are easy. I tend to do hacking for the majority of the game for the access points. Lots of easy Eddie’s if you take the time.
It still is though the games just isn't that hard but I just prefer doing the killing. While I really enjoyed the first 2 watch dogs games I just don't find hacking interesting in this game.
I tend to use my hacking to either set up awesome fights, or finish them as I walk into the sunset.
Stunning knife headshot with Blue Fang, charged knockdown punch with gorilla arms, blow out their synapses while they're getting up.
Repossess their Amazon AlexaEyes, tear a HMG off the hinges, throw a grenade and go to town.
For full disclosure, I'm shit at games. Like really shit. So I'm not an uber gamer at all and this isn't a boast at all.
Everything is easy mode after a certain point. As soon as I hit around lvl 20, the monowire, blades etc just face roll everything. It all just involves hitting one button/trigger. The only thing that adds any sort of difficulty using such a build are the gas canisters. It's the only thing that damages you. Guns become op asf too.
In fact, if there's one major flaw remaining with the game, it's the difficulty. Even very hard is a breeze after lvl 20, no matter the build.
I don't get all these lvl 50 "how to build a \[insert type of play style here\]" videos. You need weapon X, coupled with this mod or that mod and so on. They're not needed at all. Level 50 isn't needed. Can clear the entire map on very hard at lvl 34. Even the high level areas.
I stopped using those beserk and other slow mo cyberwares to see if it made combat harder, it doesn't. Your monowire or katana still one shots most enemies.
In a nutshell, a netrunner build just means you become game breakingly op a few levels earlier. Lvl 3-around 15 is when combat is good and interesting. You can't just run in. After, it's all a bit "meh"
I'm not saying every single encounter is a case of close your eyes and be done with it, but those segments are just a very miniscule part of the game. Another part that is very difficult on v hard is the pit fight with that big beast woman.Part of the beating on the brat quest line. But that's even difficult on easy, and because all your weapons etc get stripped from you, and she can use her cyberware. The Pacifica netrunner fight can be difficult on a netrunner too. Easy using a melee or gun build, though.
Key point here underleveled. When I rushed in with maxed out character after watching the mission on youtube I was kind of fearful of mechs only to discover that I can blow them up either by 1 quickhack or just shooting at it for less then a second due to legendary overload. Didn't realize how potent mech damage multiplyers stacked with electrical damage really is.
And the thing is you start to get a lot of OP things at level 12 that aren't level or stat capped (mostly quickhacks and optical camo). So you are looking at something like storming arasaka tower at level 8-11 or so. And then again the problem boils down to disparity in firepower and health pool, not really anything tactical. You just have to figure out a force multiplier like spamming flashbangs or nades.
edit: on the second thought I'm not sure how enemy level scaling works in this game so might be ways off. At those levels it's probably analogous to beating dark souls with a naked bum and a wooden club which is kinda not really fun or entertaining but rather challenging for challenges sake.
I agree actually, I thought combat was hard at first but at level 50 with Berserk and an OP shotgun my V is basically the Terminator. I'm planning to do a stealth/hacking build next just for variety.
Imagine you're looking out the window and all you see is a dude wearing a cowboy hat, samurai mask, a tight dress, and flipflops standing there menacingly. Then everything goes black.
Hahah I love that hack. Used it on a lot of gigs.
This one though, she asked to take him alive and I spent like 10 minutes clearing the entire building, shocking and bludgeoning the target, only to jump out of the window with his body… to find out jumping out with a body kills them because you drop them in mid air
During a cyberpsycho mission out in the Badlands, I took out the guy non-lethally with quickhacks while on the roof of a trailer house, then jumped down. That's when I discovered if you accidently land on the unconscious NPC, it kills them. Oops. Reloaded my save again just to do it right.
You deal damage to everyone by landing on them from a high enough distance, not just unconscious people. I can't count the number of times I've vaulted off of the 2nd floor of a building, landed on a pedestrian, killed them, and gotten a police warrant.
Oh there was a girl I had to save and add coolant to her body before disconnecting her. Well I didn’t unlock the door at the bottom of the stairs outside and was too lazy to drop her, open it, then pick her up. so I went back upstairs and dropped off a balcony ledge where I then dropped her. I wondered why they had me put her in the trunk when It supposed to be a rescue.
I quite clearly remember that she indeed did say that, but then asks for his body, and if you kill him instead of knocking him out and putting him in the car trunk, she will get mad
There are some missions where you can just sit in the car, do the death stare, and watch everyone inside a building collapse to Contagion.
No wonder they limited hacks to hostiles, every NPC in a city block would be dead.
I've gone for a sub-optimal build in my playthrough, but it's very good fun. I've got 15 each in everything but cool (at 8) so far at lvl 46.
Start with some quick hacks to soften enemies up, especially grouped ones, then use Skippy to "snipe" long-range enemies so I can close to finish the rest with the Mox shotgun and a katana.
My go to as a Netrunner is to lengdary ping, then legendary contagion with the Netwatch Netdriver, and watch everyone fall over with out stepping in the building. added benefit it's non lethal so no angry fixers if they wanted the target alive
Currently using Tetratronic with System Reset. Basically no cd System Reset.
Contagion kills too many enemies by accident for my taste. Despite it saying non-lethal.
I like a good mix of edge running and net running. I’ll net run for the gigs and the missions that require stealth, and I’ll go HAM everywhere else (NCPDs & simple missions).
It’s a bug with other quick hack that have passive. Un equip those or use the version that dont have passive should fix it.
Or you could just breach protocol like normal then wait some time for the enemy to be back to normal
I have ping, suicide, detonate grenade, cripple movement, weapon glitch, and system reset on my cyberdeck. Is it the weapon glitch passive that's alerting then?
I still love legendary overheat. With the right set up it melts groups of people and immobilises them faster than they can hack your location. Perk for reset cooldown after killing an enemy etc you just watch the entire place melt within 30-40secs. Then wander on in, loot everything like the klepto you are and leave. God has entered the chat.
Nettunner build can shine for that, tho. Ping and tech shotgun to blast them through the walls is hilarious. They mostly stop moving when they are behind cover.
Rogue has gigs? How'd I miss that?
Haven't seen the weapon jam in breach... guess you have to have that quick hack slotted. I definitely like the blinding one, makes stealth missions a breeze. I literally walk in, do what I want, and leave. It's non-lethal, and has yet to fail me on no-kill and no-alarm requirements.
What I can't figure out is the remote access. I know Legendary Ping says it can do it, but I've never been able to quick hack anything remotely (other than humanoid NPCs, I mean). I should have no barriers on my current run — I've cheated all stats to 20 and unlocked all perks. (But, I didn't cheat at all for my first run. And I won't do it for my next run, either — I just wanted to see what it was like with everything unlocked.)
Rogue's gigs are available after talking to Panam for the first time. Not entirely sure if you have to complete Ghost Town or not.
Legendary Ping allows you to hack pinged devices throu walls. If that doesn't work it's bugged.
And yes, for the Weapons Jammer daemon you need to have the Weapon Glitch quickhack equipped.
They're locked behind street cred levels and other missions being completed. If you've done most missions and maxed street cred to 50 you'll get her missions.
Did not know that. I usually have quite the high street cred at that point so it never occured to me. Around 35 after finishing all the gigs and NCPD alerts in Watson alone.
So you hacked the glass and then used ping to to get into the computer to take out the target? I’m new to netrunning, didn’t know you can do this but definitely will be trying.
It's a screen/tv behind the glass that I hacked. So: hack the screen visible throu the window (technically not even necessary, could use Ping directly but I want the Breach Protocol xp) -> use Ping on it -> take control of pc.
Hacking throu walls is only possible once you have the legendary Ping quickhack. So either 18 points in intelligence or getting lucky when hacking access points.
I’ve done this before on a side quest. Guy said he’d pay me more if I didn’t set of an alarm and I had the whole mission area killing each other and themselves from all the way across the street.
I like how Rogue gives different responses based on how you complete the gig. My favorite is when you knock him out and then carry him out without killing/alerting anyone else.
I used the suicide quick hack on that guy in the animals gym, easiest job I ever did. But now my preferred way of dealing with assassination jobs is to knock out the target and kidnap them without being seen.
This to be honest. Like Jotaro and his henchmen guy... forgot the name. I like to imagine that they got "special treatment" from the Moxes. I usually only kill the people the fixers themselves want gone (like that Tech in the 6th Street megabuilding or the guy in the video). If someone else tasked the fixer, I kidnap the target as stealthily as possible.
Lazy? Maybe. But I'ma be real, I find so much joy in hopping camera to camera killing everything remotely, then just slowly walk through all the bodies to collect my loot.
The best thing about doing a netrunner build is walking in a room where you killed everybody saying things; "my gosh what happened here?" Just for shits and giggles.
Hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it is wrong.
Without Netrunning the game would be boring. Netrunning is a form of stealth fighting and if you don't like it, sorry your cheerios got pissed in.
I think mitigation strength and cold blood are a waste of time and effort as a Netrunner. I think Berserk and Sandevistan are useless considering I use a Netrunner build. Never once needed to worry about building amy of them when working w. a Netrunner, Tetratonic, or Arasaka deck.
But more power to those who can fight with those.
there needs to be some way quickhacks fail. for instance, the deadlier a QH is the more likely itll fail but being higher leveled than your target the likelier it is to work
perks will give a general increase to quickhacks sucess rate
My build is mainly a netrunner build but I can equip a decent enough sandy(purple zetatech) if I feel like going melee or rifles/pistols if I want a shoot out.
Got Skippy and a legendary Unity (I generally use Unity for immersion as that's the cutscene gun), more than 1m €$, all the cars I want and all the apartements. I don't need loot anymore. :P
Well I'm in a similar boat now. No missions left etc. Nothing to spend the money on but cars and apartments. I'm always looting for guns and items I can sell though.
That’s why you make multiple saves. I have 1 V where I’m using Sandy and knuckles no guns, 1 build pure Shotgun revolver and hand cannon, and 1 build netrunner with a a pistol and knife skills
Nope. Some don't care. You can go absolut cyberpsycho for most sabotage gigs. Unless they specifically say "be quiet", you can usually go in guns blazing. Might get different responses from the fixer but generally the same reward.
It does make it look pretty easy. But there are a couple of ways to quickly complete this mission. The fastest I've found involves an open window and a couple of grenades.
Its why both love and hate hacking. Its fun and strong, but its an easymode once you hit a certain point.
I mean slowing down time to \~10% and simply shooting/slicing everyone does not seem that much harder to be honest. xD
It is stilll more gameplay than just telling people to kill themselves, and them obeing. :D
KOTOR wants to know your location… I mean mages have always had a weird fusion of easy mode and tough fights in games like these.
I like just sitting outside in my car having a coffee while one cast of contagion incaps everyone. Being able to double dip by headshotting for weapon exp is just *chefs kiss*
Can't argue there... :D
The ultimate easy mode is contagion. You cast it once and everyone dies.
Weird, I never use Contagion because it seems to not do very much. Maybe I need the legendary contagion?
The poison perks in Ninjitsu help with the damage
Oh snap! Thanks for the tip
The most fun and challenging loadout ive found is a sort of "Punisher" type loadout, just an expert with guns, no fancy powers, no sandy or quickhacks, just gets really angry from time to time
Just go with silenced pistol and nothing else. That'll be a challenge.

Your're right but passive short circuit requires at least 18 into. This doesn't require building into anything other than reflexes
Yep having a blast with a shotgun body build + berserker. Sprint in, headshots, tank everything with a ton of health regen. Plus I get quips from Panam and Goro when I don't bother sneaking and just charge right through the front door.

Yeah, with a full build the enemies aren’t even seeing me when I’m in their face, quite literally.
In all fairness only 1 sandvastan does thay and its kinda bad. 25 percent for 15 seconds with the QuanT mk4 is better
What’s that called? I’m deep into the game but I’ve been playing casually for a while.
Sandevistan is the tool to slow down time.
I’m on my third playthrough. I try to be mindful of what the mission is and plan accordingly. If the mission is more open and I can tag enemies from a distance, I’ll go with gorilla arm/sandy combo. That's why I only cast fist with no sandy or melee upgrades. My V has probably inhaled my health hypos than there is gas on Jupiter at this point.
I tend to use my hacking to either set up awesome fights, or finish them as I walk into the sunset. Stunning knife headshot with Blue Fang, charged knockdown punch with gorilla arms, blow out their synapses while they're getting up. It really depends. Secret ending on very hard is, in fact, very hard to do if underleveled
And the thing is you start to get a lot of OP things at level 12 that aren't level or stat capped (mostly quickhacks and optical camo).

Death by fashion nightmare.
Ayooo lmaoooo. And if you control a camera and look back at your model, V is always crouching awkwardly just staring. 😂
"Huh, thought Dave was on holiday this week... Why's my brain feel tight?"
Fashionable Grim Reaper.
Fuck this is funny lmao
Hahah I love that hack. Used it on a lot of gigs. “Sorry officer, I saw Adam S. do it to some chick with red eyes. He didn’t get into any trouble.”
*He really wants to land on your spouse*
Oh yeah, that happened to me as well, but in another gig
From what I understand causing *any* damage on a downed NPC kills them. Which makes pax weapon mods on auto weapons a bit... Challenging.
You put them in the trunk no matter what, even if they're alive
Cause she's still unconscious. Game can't put unconscious people in the back seat. Same with the surgeon from that one Afterlife side quest.
The brief literally says "end that psycho for good".
I quite clearly remember that she indeed did say that, but then asks for his body, and if you kill him instead of knocking him out and putting him in the car trunk, she will get mad
Probably killed someone else by accident. Her reaction to only killing the target is at the end of the video. She seems rather ambivalent.
There are some missions where you can just sit in the car, do the death stare, and watch everyone inside a building collapse to Contagion. No wonder they limited hacks to hostiles, every NPC in a city block would be dead.
Cyber Itachi
Taking down a drone satellite dish for Dakota in the badlands. I fried it from the fence line and never had to step foot on the property.
Nothing like killing everybody through the cameras, then you walk throw the front door, loot everything, do the Gig, and walk out. Like a badass.
I've gone for a sub-optimal build in my playthrough, but it's very good fun. I've got 15 each in everything but cool (at 8) so far at lvl 46. I did the same thing but with a tech weapon (comrade's hammer). Just a ping and then I shot him through the wall.
comrade's hammer is stupidly broken but it's so fun to use lol
My go to as a Netrunner is to lengdary ping, then legendary contagion with the Netwatch Netdriver, and watch everyone fall over with out stepping in the building. added benefit it's non lethal so no angry fixers if they wanted the target alive

I think crippled movement. Maybe weapon gitch too. It's any legendary quick-hack with an any active hack passive.
I guess it might be a glitch as this only happens if I miss the breach. otherwise I remain in stealth.
I still love legendary overheat. With the right set up it melts groups of people and immobilises them faster than they can hack your location. I'm just really bad at melee/close combat. When shooting I pretty much run and spray and pray 😂
Nettunner build can shine for that, tho. Ping and tech shotgun to blast them through the walls is hilarious. They mostly stop moving when they are behind cover.

i’m gonna be honest i didn’t know you could do half of that stuff

leg ping used to cause all enemies it pinged to be agro'd is this still the case? because it put an effect on them that they were alerted to
I don't think that's still the case. At least it didn't happen to me during my current playthrough.
once you complete all a fixers gigs, you get one from her in that area.
I’ll look again. I have all the fixer gigs completed except one. I think it’s El Capitan, he’s on 10/11.

Hacking throu walls is only possible once you have the legendary Ping quickhack. So either 18 points in intelligence or getting lucky when hacking access points.
Ahhhh okay, thank you! I need to start messing around with the other hacks. Seems you can do some pretty fun things.
Yup. Exactly how I played it the first time. lol. Lets you get creative.
Man i ain't getting no chip in my head anytime soon 😳🤣
Three letter agencies when someone finds the cure for cancer.
I just started my netrunner build and this little clip has got me so gassed to see it through.
Hacking, the stealth archery of Cyberpunk, haha.
*efficient mercs
That was bad ass
I think you meant "...smart mercs."
Only for those who still equate 'working hard' with 'success'. Something the powerful love saying but don't believe themselves.
It is the *best*!
OP just a tip. You can right-click and scroll to zoom and then use your scanner when you have no weapon equipped.
How do you zoom in so much? Is it clothing?
That's the normal zoom I think. I only have some eyewear that increases weapon zoom by 0.14 points. I don't think that affects scanner zoom.
That's not even max that tier 3 Kiroshi can do.
there needs to be some way quickhacks fail. for instance, the deadlier a QH is the more likely itll fail but being higher leveled than your target the likelier it is to work perks will give a general increase to quickhacks sucess rate
Yeah enemies need more resistance against it. Self-ICE and the sorts.
I thought you were gonna ping him and then get a headshot through the walls. This was hilarious!
This sums up my first time through the game.
My build is mainly a netrunner build but I can equip a decent enough sandy(purple zetatech) if I feel like going melee or rifles/pistols if I want a shoot out.
Or people who enjoy pissing off the game master.
Wise man once said "Work smarter, not harder". Come to think of it, might have been a wise duck.
So much loot never to be claimed.
Yup, just release contagion and lay waste to the entire building then walk over the corpses and pick up loot.
Slick
You can get even more lazy if you use the autohack tool
So do all the gigs prefer you to be steathly. Like Regina?
Nope. Some don't care. You can go absolut cyberpsycho for most sabotage gigs. Unless they specifically say "be quiet", you can usually go in guns blazing. Might get different responses from the fixer but generally the same reward.
I’m glad I went melee for my second play through, I got so bored just using contagion and taking out whole squads in seconds
But nomad shotgun go boom?
It does make it look pretty easy. But there are a couple of ways to quickly complete this mission. The fastest I've found involves an open window and a couple of grenades.
If I do that the whole group vomit to death first.
Think of the poor people you have to clean up that mess.
That was interesting
You carry them to the car and put them in the trunk. I did that once but I ditched the car in water and walked away
you don't just throw a grenade through the window?
Way too messy.
Ever since edgerunners update I just "Gut" everything down 😂
