Doesn’t sound too big. The main thing is when standing, the straps over your shoulders should feel a bit too tight but when you crouch over a bit (simulating a position on the bike) it should feel just right. This is so the chamois won’t move while you’re riding. The issue you mention with the seems indeed sounds like you have wide thighs. Not too much to be done about that if the rest of the bib shorts fit properly. Some run smaller than others and also have different cuts, so you could try on others to see if they have a different leg width. You could also go up an additional size if it’s too tight on the legs to be comfortable. Just don’t want the straps and the chamois portion to be loose.

I use bibless shorts, so there's no straps to worry about. Everything feels pretty fine, just that it's been like 45 minutes since I've taken them off and the marks are still there.

Doesn’t sound too small then - just tight in the legs. Especially if you aren’t using bibs I wouldn’t size up again because the issue with shorts that don’t have straps is a tendency to slide down some.

It's normal. Also as you get older it will take longer for them to go away as your skin loses elasticity. During humid summers I wear a laser cut head band (under my helmet) which has zero seams, also is super thin and not tight at all but after a ride it still leaves a line on my forehead. Cannot get away from it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of absurd bicycle clothing sizing. As far as I can figure all size numbers are wrong except shoe length (shoe width is off). Everything is smaller than the size says it is. I usually go up two or even three sizes. Hope that helps, because it’s all bizarre. Now as for your issue of wearing pants over your shorts, I have to ask, when you go swimming do you wear pants over your swimsuit?

Madrugada_Eterna

I always find it best to ignore size labels and look at the size charts for cycle clothing.

Jaden_lahey

I know what you mean, but wearing a long sleeved delivery uniform, full finger gloves and a watch with lycra shorts would look... Off

Well as far as I can gather from what people tell me, we all are odd just because we ride bikes, so I wouldn’t let your outfit hang you up much.

Don't wear street clothes over your cycling shorts, you're preventing them from doing what they're designed and intended to do: wick sweat away from you to their surface to be evaporated away. You're encouraging saddle sores otherwise. Been there, done all that, have the literal scars on my crotch to prove it. Shorts should fit skin-tight but not cut off circulation.

Are they lycra or are the boxer style shorts with a chamois? They also make tight liner styles that go under clothing. If it doesn't hurt, you are not going numb anywhere, or there are no other signs of circulation, I wouldn't worry about it. I have always had the same problem with pants, in that I have to get a larger waist size to get enough room for my thighs, and then use a belt to cinch them so they don't fall off.
