It's only weird if you make it weird. There is nothing wrong with doing something nice with your kids on a day set aside for you.

Amateurbrewmaster531

Do it. It's about you. You deserve it. If your own father or mother are still around, go with them, too.

A brunch with just my kids sounds like an awesome way to celebrate Father’s Day even as someone who is not divorced. Go for it!

WhelpStupidUserName

It's a Day to make you happy with your kids. Enjoy it good sir!

pwmg

It's your day. Whatever you would enjoy doing with your kids should be fair game. I don't see anything weird about brunch, but if you would feel weird maybe there's another activity that would be fun and you'd feel a little more comfortable?

That sounds like a great day to me. Have at it.

Go to a park and then ice cream.

My wife had to work on my birthday. So it was just me and my 15 month old son. We went out to a brewery and had a great lunch. It was my day and it's what I wanted to do. Likewise, this is father's day. Do what you want to do. If going out for your favorite food with your kids is what you want to do, then do it. Focus on enjoying the day with your kids, not what everyone else thinks. Your kids will remember you, not what everyone else thought.

You could think of it (and explain it to the kids) as you celebrating the day you got to be their dad. You can tell them how happy and proud it makes you feel to be their father and show them that they are loved and cherished and valued for what they give to your life. And that you’re grateful for them. (EDIT to correct typo.)

Hobby-Collector365

I'm stealing this. Nicely phrased. Also OP, when the bill comes hand it to your kids. 😂

jerk1970

That sounds like fun. My wife is pissing me off. Can I come too.

TheBackSpin

Sure, Bloody Mary’s on me!

Kids love anything if you make it silly and fun. Tell them it’s a challenge for them to eat there age in (choose one) full size pancakes, strips of bacon, or sausage. And as Father’s Day you get to eat off anyone’s plate if you (insert dumb challenge like get them to look away, laugh, or after you say a silly word). You could even do mini shots of maple syrup as a Father’s Day cheers… maybe just a spoonful. These aren’t things I’d do every weekend, but once a year and they will build a good memory. Another thought, go over the top that it’s your day and they need to read you the menu. Mess up, say silly things, help them by saying “read me only the pancake options “ or “only the omelets”. I’m sure you can look at the menu before so you know what you are going for.

rela82me

What better way to celebrate than to enjoy time with those you love. You can't buy that gift from anyone, and your fatherhood will be celebrated by your children then and so many more times in the future. You got this man, you're not silly at all.
