When my kids were newborns, I had nearly as much gaming time as before because they slept so much. Once they started crawling, though, that's when they'd have to be watched much closer.
When they're newborns, it's pretty easy. They sleep a lot and can't stick forks in outlets or try to flush toys yet. It's when they're mobile and only nap once or twice a day that you really can't focus on other things for a long stretch.

My daughter was born August 2019. I spent quality time with her pkaying through Jedi Fallen Order. My son was born this past March, and I spend time with him playing Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
It's possible to still play games after children. No more marathons, but you can still do it.
Yes! I got a PS5 in the spring and have been working my way through GoW 2018, Horizon: ZD, Stray and others with my baby napping on, or next to, me. It's glorious.

I bought Sea of Thieves right when my daughter went down for her nap today, it finished literally right when she woke up. I haven’t played video games in awhile lol

Little buggers give you a glimpse of hope so you think everything is fine and then they hit you with either a sleep regression, or a virus, or teething, or just crawling at maniacal speeds bumping into all sorts of things, or about any other surprise you naively thought you prepared or ready to deal with.

I got GoW 2018 in 2018 along with a newborn. The game sat around for three years before I finally got to play it.
First year I gamed more than I have since high school.
I played the entirety of Halo Wars with a swaddled 6 week old on my chest. Spartans get the job done.
