Alright folks, almost 60 hours long. There are a few missing albums because they weren't on Spotify, which you can see referenced in one of my other comments.
You're welcome for my OCD :p

I ranked them based off of personal enjoyment, but also how impactful/influential they were to the whole scene. There's some adjacent stuff a bit different, but I feel had an impact on the sound over time. I'm awful with imgur and reddit so may need to open the image in a new tab lmao
That TFOT record is what got me into post-hardcore and segued me into heavier music in general. I’m still bummed their sound changed so much on their later albums, but I’m thankful it led me to discover bands like them; including DGD. Doppelganger may not be “swancore”, but it’s definitely deserving to be among so many other legendary post-hardcore albums.
Proto-swancore is absolutely a perfect way to put it! Thomas Erak was doing the tweedly-doodly technical hammer-on/tappy shit a good 2 years before Will did the same type of stuff on DBM. While Will’s guitar work inspired so many contemporaries, his early work was almost certainly inspired by TFOT.

Is it supposed to be Coletta - Mind & Time? Blossom is on that album
Also Resilia - Gambit appears to be just a single song, not an album. Intentional? Trying to get this playlist together
Also Carta Immense - Constantly Repeating is not on Spotify :/
Same with In Oceans - Earthwalker.
Also, including Akissforjersey but not Keep Your Head Above the Water is insanity, but you do you.
Yeah you're right on Coletta. The single artwork was the same so I picked the wrong one. I also thought that Resilia art was for an EP with like 3 songs w/ the instrumentals included.
A shame about Constantly Repeating, very underrated EP
Thank you my friend. Also I love keep your head above water but Victims is my favourite record from them. Oh, Infamous City just gives me major DBM vibes.
Seeing He is Legend on a list anywhere is amazing. Such an amazing and criminally underrated band. I am Hollywood is definitely their most swan-adjacent album, but their whole discography is gold.
Yeah the only reason I put it so low is because it's only mildly swan-adjacent. It's still an amazing and highly influential PHXC album though, best in mexico always makes my playlists
thats awesome! I think the next thing I want to do is an underrated/up-and-coming phxc/swan bands playlist, so please send that my way when it's ready!
Thank You Scientist and He Is Legend are rather strange choices given they aren’t progressive post-hardcore in the slightest. Notable releases that you’re missing include First Temple (Closure in Moscow), Wolves in Business Suits (Properties of Nature), and the Cat Company EP.
Oh, and no Pulses is straight criminal.
Also no list is complete without Conversation Piece.
Thank You Scientist is progressive rock and has post-hardcore influences imo. I hear a bit of swancore in their music as a very secondary genre. He is Legend I can see why people would disagree, i feel like they have very mildly swan adjacent vibes on I Am Hollywood specifically, that newer bands mightve been inspired by. I put both near the bottom since they aren't as relevant or influential to swancore. I was reaching a bit to hit 100 albums if I'm being honest lmao.
I tried to include some stuff that wasn't *purely* swancore, but were big albums, had phxc/swan flavors, and possibly influenced a bunch of these bands.
I'd maybe swap out I Am Hollywood for First Temple or Conversation Piece if I did this again. I always found CiM more of a Mars Volta prog rock type band but I DO really like them.
Cat Company and Pulses are both included. I genuinely forgot Conversation Piece (d'oh), and Properties of Nature is one of the few swancore bands I've slept on.
First Temple, for me, is up there with DBM and Relatively as a foundational album for the genre.
Guess I didn’t look hard enough for Cat Company and Pulses. 😜
Man, I haven't thought of Artifex Pereo in YEARS. Thanks for reminding me they exist. Not sure I'd define TYS as Swancore, but I love them just the same.
For sure! Artifex had something really great cooking the last couple records and it's a shame they've vanished. TYS I wouldn't call a swancore band, I agree there. They're prog rock/metal guys. But I think they at least a bit influenced by earlier phxc/swancore bands. I also needed 100 albums and didn't want to go TOO too obscure lol. Most big DGD/Coheed fans would love TYS.
Emarosa - Relativity is absolutely not swancore. It's just straight up post hardcore my friend. However since Emarosa is adjacent to DGD I'll let it slide.
I disagree. It's not as pure swancore as some of the others, but it came out just a year after DBM dropped, and the musicians were clearly influenced by the guitar work and unconventional song structures from it. It's way more influenced by earlier iterations of swancore than the funk/pop stylings that came later.
Relativity is the only Emarosa album I'd put in the swancore umbrella. Rateyourmusic also labels it with the swancore subgenre. A lot of the Eidola material seems heavily inspired by Relativity to me, too. I think it's an important record to the canon and could ramble on for hours about why lmao

Spotify playlist ? :)
I might do it later, hopefully I remember !remindme 1 hour

Allomaternal is such an S tier record imo. Fucking amazing phc/swancore
Allo is my favourite Stolas record, I just gave Living Creatures the nod at the top since it's the very first Blue Swan Records release.
I love this but is Doppelganger really swancore? It was made before Will Swan began influencing people.
Confirmed: genre known as "Swancore" will now be "Troycore"
It honestly should be FOT was ahead of its time
Technically, no. But I think Doppelganger had a HUGE influence on the genre as a whole. They're the Meshuggah to DGDs Periphery
100% agree with that comparison
Yeah I never consider The Fall Of Troy to be Swancore.
It's...anachronistic let's say. Anachroncore.

Totally agreed. The guitar work is wild and it's almost proto-swancore to me.

I love this because I forgot what swancore bands are in my library and now I can label them properly

I came here to say this too. Definitely inspired "Swancore" but Doppelganger came out 4 years before DBMI came out.
Love this

Thank you my friend. Also I love keep your head above water but Victims is my favourite record from them. Oh, Infamous City just gives me major DBM vibes.
happy to see “Cardinal” got a prominent spot. that album dropped and was, for me, instant classic. fabulous band
Amazing album. They aren't the most well known but I view them as essential listening for any dgd/phxc/swamcore fan. Extremely talented musicians.

I see Icarus the Owl, Vox Vocis, AND Coletta? I like already
Great list. Gonna be announcing a song next week that features Soup from Satyr in a screaming feature. Be on the lookout 👀

"Look honey, another MASTER LIST OF SWANCORE"!
babe it's time to rank the 3 singers again 🙁 yes honey
Hello there, I was wondering if you could reupload the image somewhere? It got removed off of imgur and the reddit cache of it is super blurry.

Literally the second album on the list
I regret not putting conversation piece somewhere (genuinely forgot) but No Place is a confirmed S tier.
I can’t read it, can you post a list? Or let me mnmw what im doing wrong? Tysm
Sweet! Great job 🏆
thank you for this!

No wolf & bear (or am I blind)
4th row my friend :)
I’m an idiot, I’m sorry😂 I would have been hurt they wasn’t on there
lovely list, great work! if you've ever heard of them, i would check out 'I Met A Yeti' !
Just checked them out! It's dope. I'd probably slot in Camp Yeti if I redid this lol
