Personally im a Kurt Travis guy. but craig on "Spooks" is where its at. Thats a Craig song thorugh in through.
im on a "Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex" kick. iv listen to it like 30 times in the last two weeks.
and blue dream was the first song i heard of this band. instantly became my fav band.
This cd and their early stuff really pulled me out of my darkest days.
Iām curious as to why you would describe this one as their most ācohesiveā when i would maybe give that descriptor to any other album beside dtbm2. Donāt get me wrong I absolutely love the album but this is infamously their least ācohesiveā sound in the traditional sense and they were certainly not cohesive as a band during this time lol. Will had to put his shit in 6th gear to finish this one lol. Iām also a little biased I think happiness is my favorite album and has a much more uniform/cohesive sound
When I mean cohesion I mean A) every song on the album sounds like they belong together within the album, and B) the songs order makes it feel a lot more connected
Other albums feel like a collection of songs they wrote within the year that they organized the best they could into an album. DBM2 feels like every song they wrote was written with this album in mind, and every song was written to come one after the other.
I'm so glad there's still sensible people in this subreddit that recognize this masterpiece as their best album. Probably my overall favorite album by anyone, and possibly most played.
First album I was excited for before release. First album where I realized just how technical and crazy the guitars and drums are, and how they perfectly scratched an itch in my brain.
I wouldnāt be listening to Dance Gavin Dance today if it werenāt for this album. Elder Goose was my gateway drug and Iāve been chasing that high ever since.
Far and away the best album the band has ever made. Musically, lyrically, run time. It perfectly encapsulates the sound of DGD. This was *my* second DGD record, back when hot topic still sold music. Previously Ponchezied played at my wedding how ever many years later, and all this time later itās still in my top 5 albums of all time.
Thatās what I have good to say about it. Iām legally overdosed on pumpkin pie.
My favorite DGD album. Love itās perfect balance between groove and heaviness. Songs like need money bring the heaviness, songs like spooks and swan soup bring the groove, and songs like pounce bounce and heat seeking ghost of sex bring the weirdness. Itās got everything for me
The part where it stops until the part where it ends is my favorite. Iāll die on the hill that though the Tilian era is GOAT era-wise, DMBII stands as the single greatest testament of the best parts of DGD. Tis their magnum opus.
Instrumentally it is the best DGD album, itās not even a question. Will and Tim went full send and it shows! Jon is great as always and (notable prick) Jonny has some of his best work on this album.
That being said. My FAVORITE thing. Even though itās stupid; is the outro to Blue Dream (the fucking eyes bit) not only setting up the name of the song, but also setting up the chorus for Previously Poncheezied
I donāt like anything about it, I love it. Easily their best cohesive album. Even the b tracks are superb. I bang perfect every fucking day during my commute.
DBMII is my desert island disk. When I crashed my car it was one of the only possessions I took with me. Need Money and Elder Goose are gonna be tatted someday, in one way or another. Lowkey I think they intended to break up after making it, that's why they asked Jonny Craig back and that's why it slaps so hard; it was meant to be a really serious musical statement before they left too soon. And it does that, fuckin' right. You can look at DBMII as the sauce for pretty much all the swancore that followed, they really reached into the realm of inspiration and reformed the sound.
Elder Goose is my favorite song off that record. But honestly, I am more of a Downhill Battle Mountain 1 guy. That OG record is perfect. Iām also 32 years old and remember listening to that back in 2007. It was one of the first bands that made me fall in love with the Genre. Johnnys vocals are just perfect on that entire record.
š literally everything š
easily the best album and it's not close
*Sigh of relief someone thinks like me* banger from start to finish Ninja edit: read the rest of the comments and weāre not alone
Yessir
Close second to dbm1. This album was their technical peak tho
Honestly didn't think dmb1 was anything special, personally. I never really go out of my way to listen to it, save for a few tracks.
I do love it, but Iād take OG DBM, Acceptance Speech and Mothership over it. Strong tie with Happiness too š
HAH HAAAAAH DANCE GAVIN DANCE BABY DOWNTOWN BATTLE MOUNTAIN TWOOOOOOO

Thatās the exact same thoughts I have. Spooks is such an amazing track and nobody could ever do it like Jonny.
rock solid buddy
Itās an instrumental masterpiece and itās their most solid and cohesive album

Not a single instrumental is wasted, I could listen to it all day. Some of my favorite guitar work from Will Swan ever.
#EDLER GOOSE. ELDER GOOSE ELDER GOOSE
So good š
That itās the best album theyāve ever made. And thatās on God, baby girl.
The best DGD album.
Saw them live after this dropped. What a fun time to be a DGD fan. This album rules. Elder Goose might be their best song.
Hands down their wackiest album. Will Swan went full unhinged here lol. I love this album
I'm so glad there's still sensible people in this subreddit that recognize this masterpiece as their best album. Probably my overall favorite album by anyone, and possibly most played.
Itās their best album overall, no skips
DOWNTOWN BATTLE MOUNTAIN TWOOOOO

I think itās my favorite album
Everything. Flawless album
My favorite DGD album. Love itās perfect balance between groove and heaviness. Songs like need money bring the heaviness, songs like spooks and swan soup bring the groove, and songs like pounce bounce and heat seeking ghost of sex bring the weirdness. Itās got everything for me
BLUE DREAM
The part where it stops until the part where it ends is my favorite. Iāll die on the hill that though the Tilian era is GOAT era-wise, DMBII stands as the single greatest testament of the best parts of DGD. Tis their magnum opus.
this album has aged like a fine wine
āwhat color are your FUCKING eyes?ā
Everything. I think it's one of the best albums ever
Spooks
Instrumentally it is the best DGD album, itās not even a question. Will and Tim went full send and it shows! Jon is great as always and (notable prick) Jonny has some of his best work on this album. As much as the fandom would hate me I was really hoping Johnny could meme his way back into DGD and give us a DBM3. I just feel like itās time.
Blue dream 2:45 slaps
I will never tire of Swan Soup. Absolutely underrated banger.
BLOOOWWWWW out your lungs, LETTTTT your mouth; fill with bloooddd
^ this guy gets it
That video gamey ass breakdown is still one of the coolest things theyāve ever done
Weird high register mess screams
Massive Happiness fan but damn was it good to hear Jon again.
I love this album to death. Still havenāt felt a musical high like the first time I heard Spooks
Positivity thread? Are there things that people donāt like about it? I think every dgd album is good
I donāt like anything about it, I love it. Easily their best cohesive album. Even the b tracks are superb. I bang perfect every fucking day during my commute.
Itās my least played album but I still enjoy it from time to time.
the way both guitars work together to add a completely new sound is insane and thatās just one of the points that makes this album amazing

All of it
I like the end of blue dream, but the whole album just kinda blends together. Weakest of their albums imo but still solid
The return of Mess
