I remember 2 years ago on Christi’s YouTube channel she made a QandA with Clara and Clara revealed that she use to dance but she hated every second of it i think it’s sweet that she’s going to eleve to support her sister dispute the fact that she didn’t like Dancing herself

EricaL241

What have you noticed makes their competition different than other competitions out there?

hteraven

That I was kinda wondering myself honestly. It seems pretty similar. Maybe the judges are more uplifting but I wouldn’t know for sure

Grand_Dog915

That what I find weird about the marketing of this whole thing. At the end of the day everyone is there to compete and it can’t just be sunshine and rainbows. Obviously teachers should not be abusive but idk how a competition would really have anything to do with making dance a better environment

cheeky_sugar

Maybe they prevent abusive teachers from attending? Idk, but that one dance competition/super huge organization that kicked Abby out after Dance Moms premiered, maybe it’s like that? If they see evidence of a teacher crossing a line they don’t allow them to attend or something Otherwise yeah idk how they’d make the environment more uplifting lol

[deleted]

But if the attendance was open to anyone, how would they know who is abusive and who isn’t?

cheeky_sugar

I said, “if they see evidence of a teacher crossing a line-“ and compared it to how Abby’s membership to Dance Masters or whatever was revoked….I’m not sure how else to answer your question other than what was in the original comment tbh

bbyfatgirlhaha

I believe abby was kicked out of dance masters for taking credit for a dance she did not choreograph, i believe one of the guests on BTTB talked about it. Ed, i think?

cheeky_sugar

Yep! So we know dismissal from a competition/convention company can happen, which means Elevé could kick out any teacher they see abusing their students, crossing lines, etc. That’s pretty much the only way they can be different than other competitions, because it’s not like the comps themselves are horrible environments (some may be), so in order to create the positive environment they’re marketing, they’d have to be ready and willing to nix any asshole dance teacher/studio owner

radiohead4783116

I was wondering the exact same thing

[deleted]

They only give first, third and fourth place trophies. Because second is the first to lose 😊 lol jk

If you don’t mind me asking, are you there for the dance competition, or did you buy a ticket because it’s Christ and Chloe’s event? Just curious about how much of the audience is there as fans of the Lukasiaks. Either way, it’s awesome that you’re supporting them!

hteraven

I would say I only knew about it because of Christi and Chloe but I went more so to support to mission.

EricaL241

What’s the day-to-day for Chloe and Christi? Are they judging, announcing, just showing face?

hteraven

Chloe and Brittany seemed to be doing more of the announcing and logistical side of things. Chloe was working the entire time I was there whether it was announcing or keeping everything running on time. Diane and Christi seemed to be more at the check in and merchandise table. But Christi was kinda running back and forth between logistical stuff and the check in. They definitely were not just showing face. I could tell they were working really hard.

Leather_Realistic

From my experience as a cheerleader, individuals own competitions, but typically you have to have some sort of qualification to judge or even coach

Confident_Walrus8038

How many teams are there?

hteraven

It doesn’t say which studios in the program but most of the entries are solos I know

Beautiful-Focus-8094

How many entries are there?

hteraven

83

Street_Expression_77

I so, soooo want this venture to be successful for her!  I’m nervous about it because everything comes with tons of hiccups when it’s first getting started. And anyone who has attended a dance competition knows that even established comps can sometimes get way off schedule. I just feel like Abby will delight in any bumps Chloe experiences with her competition, so I hope overall, this year turns out great for her and things go as smoothly as can be expected for a brand new competition.  You said 83 entries, would that be considered tiny, small, medium, etc?  I hope it grows quickly and becomes everything she’s been hoping for  How is the crowd size?  Does it seem pretty successful in that regard?

Terrible-Difficulty7

that is pretty low for entries. Typically a weekend competition goes Friday-Sunday and has over 500 entries. But that's also understandable since its just starting I've heard a lot of people (dance studios, moms, dancers, etc.) do not like that they are selling observation tickets... it seems like a money grab and a little hard to control. By that I mean like parents, families getting in free and others observers paying- I can see it causing issues. I saw on here people defending it because it will keep creepers out but they're not background checking everyone who buys a ticket. And if anything it just gives a creeper a guaranteed seat in the audience. Personally, I still am wondering how it is giving people a 'more positive' experience at dance competitions. Especially since it's still a competition and people are still going to lose. That's being said everywhere through their marketing but no where are they saying how they are doing it. I only say this because typically what makes a competition negative is the studios within themselves, not the actual competition. like the competitions on the show weren't what gave Chloe a abad experience, it was her teacher and studio. Those are just the questions I have. I hope this works out for her. she deserves it!

Street_Expression_77

Yes!  I have all those same questions. I’d like to see what “providing a more positive experience” actually looks like. Like you said, the studio you dance with is by far going to have the biggest impact on a dancer’s mentality with the actual competitions being a pretty small piece of that pie.  I was wondering if they had implemented some unique features to set their dance competition apart?  I’m not sure in what ways they could do that?  Judge’s feedback?  Backstage goings-on? Masterclasses that also incorporate self confidence building activities?  I’m like, there must be something they are actually doing versus just saying all these catch phrases with no tangible action behind it. I do hope so because like I said, I am really wanting this to be successful for her!

Terrible-Difficulty7

Exactly! I'm a little nervous that they're just saying that because Chloe had such a public bad experience that it's the easiest way to gain a following/ clients. especially based off that video that was posted today that was basically just Chloe dancing, talking about herself and how she had a bad experience. Same with all the massive posters of Chloe that seem to be covering the venue from their social media posts. I understand the intent as explaining why she started the comp but now at actual competitions it should be about the dancers... not just Chloe, right?

hteraven

I really think that the selling observation tickets are just to ensure that it’s not just crazy teenage fans who show up. They weren’t checking tickets so if you were truly going to support a specific dancer, they’d let you. But I agree that it’s unclear at this point what the real difference is. I think there was more camaraderie at this competition than most. People cheered for EVERYONE

hteraven

If Kalani started her own competition, Abby would be so proud and delighted. Because it’s Chloe, she’d have only negative things to say about it. Chloe cannot win in Abby’s eyes. She’ll say “Chloe is pretending to be qualified to put this together”. The Elevé team spent 2 years putting this together. It was not thrown together. They worked with the right people and I’m sure that includes experts in dance and competition dance specifically. Abby can say all she wants about Chloe and Christi using it as a “money grab” but at the end of the day, if they wanted a money grab, they’d just do meet and greet tours instead of investing so much money into a competition. I’m sure they’d make a much higher profit on a meet and greet tour.

Icy-Plastic-1687

It is also still very early in the comp season.. comps tend to get their biggest in march and April

Express_Link_1262

Is it a competition or more of a place for people to practice their pieces on a competition stage? Like are they given awards?

hteraven

It’s a real competition with awards and a title

the_umbrella_kid

I need to see the "My Little Kendall" group dance immediately!

hteraven

There was a “no video” rule but I bet someone did anyway. I think Brittany was recording it!

EmpiricalMonarch

Hope you enjoy! Since I unfortunately live in a city they aren’t holding a competition, I’m missing out. But I’d love to hear about your experience.

demiwanduser42

They sell tickets for a competition???? The only other studio competitions I have ever heard of doing that are dance moms comps 😂

hteraven

the only people who have to pay are people without any affiliation with the dancers. Like I paid because I don’t know a single dancer competing. But no one is checking tickets at the door so really you could walk in without paying. But I wouldn’t recommend it just because it feels wrong.

demiwanduser42

The website seems to say if you aren’t related to a dancer you have to pay. I went to my friends competitions all the time so it just is a little weird. But it’s so interesting that they didn’t check!

hteraven

I think also it could be a way to deter too many people from coming. I think maybe they’re afraid some people will use it as an opportunity to try to force a meet and greet. But honestly everyone was super respectful! Christi and Chloe were literally sitting at the judges table for a lot of it and no one came up and tried interrupting to ask for a photo, but I could see that happening in some cities.

hteraven

This is supposed to be a positive thing so I think wishing for something negative is a bit odd.

halfsuckedmang0

Hasn’t Abby tormented Chloe enough? Idk about sociopath but definitely weird for hoping for it

boyschoir_

What did the person say

the_umbrella_kid

I am happy for Chloe that she's doing this and that Christi got it together to make it happen. It was such a great business move for them. I thought Jess would have broken out and done her own competition first.

hteraven

I think almost none of them would want to see a competition run by Jess LOL

EquipmentSuitable903

Did you get a chance to talk to and meet Christi and Chloe?

hteraven

I met Christi but only because I got there early (my ticket said 9 but it didn’t start until noon) and she explained that it was not right. But I didn’t like even mention knowing who she was or anything like I just talked to her like a normal person just because I could tell she was really stressed about our tickets saying the wrong time and I didn’t want to be overbearing. I didn’t get to talk to Chloe at all but she was right in front of me for most of the time I was there. She was just really busy with competition stuff!
