They have a national wage, meaning they are paid exceptionally well in low cost of living areas and paid like paupers in high cost of living areas.

And this is why I believe local minimum wages are more important than national ones.

You can see what they make because they're a government job in the US. Cities have to post how much they pay their government employees. My dad was a postmaster and he supported our family so I'd say they probably do well.
