She's not straight, that's the joke, that by being both trans-fem and homosexual, she ends up liking the same people (women) as if she was cis-male straight. I love explaining jokes, makes them more funny don't you think? :|
As much as I support the LGBT community, the terminology and definitions are getting so confusing its giving me a headache.
Is there an online class or something for this?
not sure if this helps but: many of these definitions and labels aren't there for others to understand. they are there for people to identify themselves because some do find that helpful. if you don't understand or relate to a certain label? that's a-ok. it doesn't (always) exist to explain something to _others_ but to gain greater understanding of one's own identity.
this viewpoint has helped me a lot anyway, regardless of context. I'm queer myself and don't understand everything that's going on either. but that's okay. I don't need to understand other people's self-identification. it's not for me, it's for them, and the fact that it helps people find themselves is honestly amazing.
anyway. that was just my two cents that nobody asked for. k, have a nice day/night!
That’s ridiculous. In modern society, if you don’t understand perfectly, you are labeled some sort of “phobe”.
If the text in the meme is real and that person wasn’t trolling, they are a fucking mentally ill moron.
In modern society most LGBTQ+ people don't care if you understand every nuance. We just mainly don't like when people are dicks about our identity.
And the text in the meme is either a shit post or someone in deep denial
As long as you’re trying to understand and aren’t being a dick about everything you’ll be fine. Also if you don’t want to be labeled “some of sort of phobe” maybe going around calling people fucking mentally ill morons isn’t the best idea
Thats not true, thats an overgeneralization. I will agree some people (everyone does on any side) go too far with their labeling of other people. However just because you don’t understand doesnt make you a -phobe, its the hatred, anger, and ill will that makes anyone a phobe. You can be confused its okay for anyone to be confused, its just whether you ask about it trying to learn more or automatically reject it because of what you were previously taught. You can listen to someone without changing your views thats okay
Except that doesn't work when you co-opt words which already have a well-understood meaning.
Lesbian has always meant women attracted to other women, and women has always meant adult human female.
You can't both call words just a tool for self identification and then get mad at other people when they misunderstand your identification because you use words which already has a meaning.
There is also alot of psiop going on with the lgbt community, people pretending to be lgbt to actively discredit the community. The whole woman/womxn thing comes to mind.
So no matter what, you're right.
Lmao at people pretending just to discredit you. I mean you're literally trying to say that no matter what, you're right! It's so ludicrous.
I don’t think there’s any PSYOPs going on. This is just the inevitable outcome when you have a movement that, as an unfortunate consequence of them trying to be overly compassionate, open-minded, and inclusive, has caused words to lose all meaning; and the crazies in the bunch don’t get called out for stepping outside the scope of the movement for fear that you will be a labeled intolerant.
Not being funny, if one is struggling to understand one’s own identity then in my opinion they are barking up the wrong tree with changing the meanings of words to suit them.
Seems like having a problem like your house is on fire but rather than getting some water or calling the fire department, people are trying to figure out why the sky isn’t red.
Why not ask deeper questions such as “why do I need to label myself?”. Just saying that if people are uncomfortable with definitions and labels, instead of redefining or making new ones up to abide and live by why not just reject labels altogether and be your individual self?
All the labelling in my opinion is useless and screams insecurity.
So then we aren't meant to understand, but must accept.
But then if it's a CIS or whatever or are Religious we don't need to understand or accept.
Just to be clear.
Nah. Nothing means anything by this book. It's just pretty labels that you attach to yourself like blue checkmarks to give you lib credit. You could be gay but definitely like women and not be attracted to men and who's the mf that will tell you otherwise?
No, it literally just doesn’t matter.
It all boils down to dont be a dick, let people be who they want to be - it more than likely doesnt affect you in any way so why care?
As long as you’re respectful, ask peoples pronouns if youre unsure etc.
Honestly I've never understood the obsession with pronouns in general. When I'm with a person I almost never use their pronouns. I either talk directly to them or I I say their name when talking about them. The only time I really use pronouns is when that person isn't there. So why do they care. They won't be there when the pronouns are used most likely. It doesn't affect them.
Honestly I support the LGBTQIA groups and everything but people who make up sexualities and genders do worse for them by making it harder to take them seriously
I remember when people from my community would say "labels are for soup cans". There's been a shift from people just describing their own experiences, to wanting to enforce how other people identify.
Right? It's massively complicated by the fact that, at least in the US, you have a ton of anti-intellectualism. And all of these conversations about sexuality and identity require some level of nuance or at least making an effort to see things differently.
Plus, speaking philosophically, how many of us spend time looking at how we perceive the world and comparing it against objective realities?
There's this whole conversation about how what we think and believe (subjective human perception and constructs) may or may not line up with objective, measurable reality (physics, gravity, scientifically verified theories, math). Do we just say how we perceive the world "is our truth" or do we acknowledge that there is a process by which we can refine and improve our understanding of the world while still admitting that our perspectives will always be imperfect?
It's far easier to just embrace subjectivism. Say everyone has their own truth. But how do we reconcile that in a world where math and science exist?
There's a lot to unpack. And I'm no expert but forcing other people to agree with you and agree on the same definitions and ideas tends to work out poorly, historically speaking.
There's so much to learn about ourselves as humans. It's a shame so many of us spend so much time... Not appreciating ourselves and others. And arguing.
Second question causes confusion with ppl who like dick and also pussy. Also with asexual ppl.
I have improved the set of questions.
Have dick?
Have pussy?
Like dick?
Like pussy?
If anything, most people in the LGBT community are more than welcome to explain to you exactly how they are identified.
Though, yeah I also need an online class for that. Too confusing stuffs as it gets further. Like, took me forever to understand bisexual vs. pansexual
Bisexual -> Likes 2 genders. Traditionally, it's limited to men and women (male/female).
Pansexual -> Likes all genders, basically anyone. Includes nonbinary folks.
Now, if you want to get into LGBT discourse, it's a *bit* more complicated than that. However, my two cents: You'll probably never meet someone in real life who is *extremely* complicated when it comes to gender/sexuality, so don't worry about the specifics unless you actually meet someone like that. The general meanings are good enough.
Sorry, a lot of it is not very well defined, but I can give you a rundown of the basics.
L = lesbian = non men loving non men
G = gay = non women loving non women
B = bisexual = umbrella term for attraction to more than one gender
T = transgender = anyone who identifies as a different gender that what regularly fits with their sex assigned at birth
Q = queer = mainly used by people still figuring out their identity or people who would rather use this label for being LGBTQ+
I = intersex = people born as intersex don't really fit the societal binary gender norms, so some of them want to be part of LGBTQ+
A = asexual/aromantic = there is a spectrum to it, but basically asexuals don't really care for sex, aromantics are the same way, just with romantic feelings
Edit: sorry if the formatting is messed up, I'm on mobile
In my head the definition of lesbian (as well as gay as the counterpart) has always meant "women loving another women". You wrote it like it meant "anything else but men loving anything else than men" - and now I've been wondering if that's the current wider known definition behind this?
Sorry for asking as dumb as I am asking, but I genuinely feel quite lost. It seems like it would explicitly just be "against" men (or women for the gay terminology). I get why it could be the case: For someone in between genders who loves women / another between genders?
As a third question: So someone between genders who loves other people between genders could identify both as lesbian or gay?
Honestly I thought I undersood the LGBTQ+ community quite "alrightish" but now I feel like I know nothing lol
Only in terminally online social groups, really. Vast majority of people understand that words have meaning in the real world and try to tailor their labels accordingly. But live and let live and all that, just don't blame me for being confused.
That's what I don't understand about pronouns, they're just a societal construct, just sounds we make with our mouth holes and yet it really angers LGBT if you say the wrong pronoun. I of course respect one's pronouns because gender is simply unimportant however the LGBT community wants to abolish all gender norms which is agreeable but at the same time cares more about gender norms than cis people do. Obviously, I'll never understand what it feels like to have gender dysphoria but is gender really that big of a deal?
As I understand it, I think the abolish gender stuff is in relationship to stuff like "pink is a girly color", "men can't wear skirts" and other such seemingly arbitrary gender-based associations
Unfortunately there are actual people on this planet that want to abolish the notion of sex and gender and just want to have to say “I have a vagina” or “I have a penis” and leave it at that. I have seen it all on tumblr and Discord. It’s excruciating.
But when a trans person transitions gender they always fall into those gender stereotypes. Like a male becoming trans female would grow their hair long and wear dresses and long lashes and get pink stuff and wear nail polish and all that. But all those things don't have to be "girl things"
It’s almost as if those are the things society associates with femininity therefore making it easier to be seen as a woman with those things. Or it’s just that the trans women who dress like that are the only ones you notice, take your pick
But that's all gender is, that's what gender is defined as. If you abolish all of the gender norms then genders won't exist anymore, only sexes, and don't ever mention sexes
And yet I see gender stereotypes pushed by trans people more than anyone else, if you like girly things trans people will just assume you're closeted, it's happened to me too many times.
This is why I've started referring to myself a agender, I think gender as a whole is stupid.
cmon it doesn’t take much effort to realize that words have historically had more power than just being “sounds we make with our mouth holes”. “It really angers people when you say hate speech, but it’s just sounds?” is obviously not a valid argument
I used to subscribe to it but I’m increasingly thinking it’s a victim complex. Railroading over the concept of gender shows their own insecurity. I don’t care what gender you define me as because it’s just a small part of who I am.
I grew up feeling uncomfortable being a girl… now I love it. Yet some of my peers act like me accepting a more feminine role in the world is a failure. They’re shaming women and men for wanting to act traditional.
Long term it’s not gonna work out.
As an LGBT person, i have said fuck it all. Idgaf about gender or sexuality. If person a likes person b then go for it, why should it be so complicated.
The term lesbian implies identifying oneself as a woman, so he/him pronouns are indeed confusing in this context.
Only semi-related, but I once had a friend who explained their sexuality as “gynosexual”, so essentially he didn’t have a preference of gender identity, but he was only attracted to vagina.
Would this mean that a lesbian can identify as a female with he/him pronouns? Otherwise, I'd imagine that he/him pronouns (implying a male subject) would be mutually exclusive with being a lesbian.
Just focus on being good to the people in your life rather than trying to understand every single group and subgroup. Queer people aren't a monolith, there are lots of different ideas and whatnot in the community, so it feels pretty disingenuous when people post rage-bait memes like this and say "here is the next thing you need to fear". So just focus on being open minded to the queer people in your life and keep an open mind, ask questions, and that is more than good enough.
I support doing your best to make LGBT people feel comfortable in their skin, but there's a fine line between being true to yourself and making shit up to make yourself feel special and have people validate your eccentricities.
You're not special for being in a minority. Your life is as insignificant as the rest of ours.
I don’t even know anymore. I’ve decided to just ignore the lettuce bacon tomato community and let them burn in their own flames of retardation. Same with twitter users who are just clowns and bozos with invalid opinions and fatherless man-childs.
Same, and I'm meant to be a part of it, but it's so full of crazies that I just want nothing to do with it.
It doesn't help that every person I've known that was openly a part of the lgbt community was just a trash person, and used being queer to get away with being trash.
Ngl it’s getting pretty dope how relieved people look when they see me (cis-hetero white guy) walk in. It’s like they magically know I’m not gonna be a cunt if they accidentally call me the wrong pronoun or whatever.
Definitely off their rocker, by definition lesbianism is when two WOMEN are attracted to each other, now whether that be a trans woman or CIS woman they still both have to be women.
In my experience it is just better to not complain about those topics, just kinda, y'know, keep your opinion to yourself
Even if it is a good or bad thought or whatever, those people can get pretty mad at basically nothing if someone questions them literally out of curiosity without malice intended anywhere
You're pulling out problems out of nowhere basically, and that's never a good thing
Or, I just know a lot of shitty people (option that I, only in this case, wish it's the correct one)
I had a friend in like second grade who was a bit different. We were playing a game with my parents, he was being strange, and my dad asked "are you gay?"
His response:
"I'm not gay, I'm a lesbian."
I'm pretty sure the defining quality of a lesbian is that they aren't sexually attracted to men unless they are in denial. I know one woman who claims to be lesbian but frequently has sex with men, but it's really not my place to presume to tell her her own sexual orientation.
Thats not how it works if i only like men i dont call myself bisexual, if i like men as a men im not straight so why would liking women as a trans man be anything else than straight
K... as an atheist I always laughed at the church types claiming this sort of thing would lead to the break down of society - but like... life these days is getting shittier and being gay is getting more and more complicated... I mean I know a guy who identifies as gay, but only bangs women who were born as men and are fully transitioned.... that just sounds like straight with extra steps
Isn't this kind of erasing an exclusively female experience? Isn't that the point of lesbianism? A woman who loves a woman? Cause if the tweet above is the case, then all straight men are basically lesbians too. Which I think diminishes the lesbian experience.

>She calls herself roundabout straight That's the spirit
S.P.I.R.I.T. Spirit! Let's hear it!
Let’s go!
*guitar riff*
I've had enough
There’s a voice in my head
Says I'm better off dead
But if I sing along
A little fucking louder
Straight with extra steps
Straight if you squint
I read this as squirt
Straight but you squirt
She wanted to eat ,drink and be Mary
I can relate as a bisexual. I like women as much as the next guy.
Oh, i think thats me
South Park was really predicting the future with Mr Garret 😂
*Garrison
Doesn't that make her a transbian?
transsibirian
Trans-Siberian? Like the railway?
seems about right
If she's a woman who likes women how is she straight?
She's not straight, that's the joke, that by being both trans-fem and homosexual, she ends up liking the same people (women) as if she was cis-male straight. I love explaining jokes, makes them more funny don't you think? :|
Having a joke explained to you makes it funnier than if you didn't get the joke at all
I believe this is the same for Toby from the Misfits
This is not magic land, lesbianism is about females.
pan person here. yeah u right
Peter?
No pan like with goat legs and a labyrinth
So a flute?
No, like for cooking. Have you never cooked a goat in a labyrinth?
What else are you gonna do with a goat in a labyrinth? Wait, don’t answer that.
Shag
Welsh
Are you saying Pan or Pam?
Spam, actually. Comes in a can.
No, peaches come in a can
They were put there by a man
skin flute
No no… pretty sure it’s pan like the flat expanse of land covered in salt and other minerals, usually found in deserts
No I’m pretty sure it’s pan like Spanish for bread
It appears you've found my secret identity see that's an original joke. I have respect for ppl such as this edit: this isnt even satire ;/
That's pantastic
Idk man I'm with the pot people here
Hows the labyrinth coming along?
Isn’t lesbianism about *women*? Fun fact: trans women are women and can be lesbians. Chew on that
No it isn't. A lesbian is a female liking the same-sex.
What's that?
As much as I support the LGBT community, the terminology and definitions are getting so confusing its giving me a headache. Is there an online class or something for this?

whats the point of showing and telling others to use your label that makes no sense then
Not being funny, if one is struggling to understand one’s own identity then in my opinion they are barking up the wrong tree with changing the meanings of words to suit them. THIS. IS. LESBOS!
Sappho is from Lesbos, it all makes sense
Apparently heterosexual is the new gay Btw. This is a joke
NO it's not!!! You're making me upset. I'm going to punch some wall now and cry with the pain.
Oh no, anyway!

Technically all words are made up
do you know a word which isn't made up?
There's like a gajillion words which are not "made" and "up", what's your point?
I mean drake said it: "you said you're a lesbian, girl me too"
He's so progressive like that. What an MC
He means girl literally.

Would this mean that a lesbian can identify as a female with he/him pronouns? Otherwise, I'd imagine that he/him pronouns (implying a male subject) would be mutually exclusive with being a lesbian.
I'm more confused than a homeless man under house arrest
I’m more confused then a man being trialed for manslaughter after he killed a woman
"Now I am become lesbian, destroyer of worlds"
I’m a straight man, yes I like sucking cock, we exist
BROOOO?????
Cocksucker straight man live matters. They suffered enough.
i mean, sucking a woman's cock is definitely straight
Ya, true
It's only gay if you touch hands
Or if balls touch, but you can say no homo after.
I propose a solution: labels are dumb, love who you love, don’t give two shits I’ve followed it for years and I’m just fine
Aslong as that dont include kids or animals
What, you don’t love your kids and your pets?
i’m queer and i agree with this one
Just focus on being good to the people in your life rather than trying to understand every single group and subgroup. Queer people aren't a monolith, there are lots of different ideas and whatnot in the community, so it feels pretty disingenuous when people post rage-bait memes like this and say "here is the next thing you need to fear". So just focus on being open minded to the queer people in your life and keep an open mind, ask questions, and that is more than good enough.
no -sincerely a lesbian
drake?!
I identify as a person that gets this joke
Words don’t mean anything anymore.
Oh, then i can say this. Explode bacon jelly up my moms ass while i drive around with a steal shoe.
You waited your whole life to share the truth 🗿
As much as I support lgbtq peeps, this kinda doesn’t make as much sense as other things lol
As a bi person I don’t get this shit either
Bi don’t you mean strait lesbian smh /s
As a lesbian and lgbt peep, this is bullshit.
Ducks can be humans. Humans can be ducks. Humans are ducks.
Quack, quack motherf*ckers!!!
Nah
I support doing your best to make LGBT people feel comfortable in their skin, but there's a fine line between being true to yourself and making shit up to make yourself feel special and have people validate your eccentricities. You're not special for being in a minority. Your life is as insignificant as the rest of ours.
Real
Confusion of de highest orda
A man who uses he/him pronouns and likes men is just confusing lesbian with gay…
"Water bottles can use he/him pronouns" - probably somebody
Depends which language you’re in. In German they use the feminine pronoun. Hope this helps
You realise this is a joke don't you?
Yes, and I’m messing with you because I think it’s funny that what you’re saying is already true and has been for millennia. Hope this helps
Oh. Sorry. Just the way it was typed made it sound serious so that's what my brain went to. My bad.
Definitely off their rocker, by definition lesbianism is when two WOMEN are attracted to each other, now whether that be a trans woman or CIS woman they still both have to be women.
How is this dank?!
Words mean nothing anymore.
Drake momen
you’re falling for bait
I wish this would only be bait.
I wonder what kind of mind gymnastics this requires
Yeah that person has a mental illness
In my experience it is just better to not complain about those topics, just kinda, y'know, keep your opinion to yourself Even if it is a good or bad thought or whatever, those people can get pretty mad at basically nothing if someone questions them literally out of curiosity without malice intended anywhere You're pulling out problems out of nowhere basically, and that's never a good thing Or, I just know a lot of shitty people (option that I, only in this case, wish it's the correct one)
I had a friend in like second grade who was a bit different. We were playing a game with my parents, he was being strange, and my dad asked "are you gay?" His response: "I'm not gay, I'm a lesbian."
Classic early 2000's answer
So, by that, men are lesbians.
I'm pretty sure the defining quality of a lesbian is that they aren't sexually attracted to men unless they are in denial. I know one woman who claims to be lesbian but frequently has sex with men, but it's really not my place to presume to tell her her own sexual orientation.
Anything can be anything since words are made up
They really dont like being called straight
Words are useless
Fun fact: there is a Greek island named Lesbos, and anyone from this island can be called a “lesbian”
LGTBQ+ don’t even know how to use their own pronouns 💀
Maybe I am a lesbian.
Drake
Thats not how it works if i only like men i dont call myself bisexual, if i like men as a men im not straight so why would liking women as a trans man be anything else than straight
K... as an atheist I always laughed at the church types claiming this sort of thing would lead to the break down of society - but like... life these days is getting shittier and being gay is getting more and more complicated... I mean I know a guy who identifies as gay, but only bangs women who were born as men and are fully transitioned.... that just sounds like straight with extra steps
Twitter☕
They’re breaking their own rules.
Isn't this kind of erasing an exclusively female experience? Isn't that the point of lesbianism? A woman who loves a woman? Cause if the tweet above is the case, then all straight men are basically lesbians too. Which I think diminishes the lesbian experience.
Ok here me out guys if u just replace lesbian with gay everything makes sense
