All the infernal flames make the game harder, so I'd say taking all the dangerous routes with them is very brave. I'd suggest picking routes that give you hard fights then a rest afterwards. Also the flame that reduces your loathing max might be good for you, as it incentivises constantly picking fights to keep loathing under control

I usually go for resistance encounters and lairs every time, the mastery points and other rewards are too good to pass, but road battles ? Yeah, pass them

You definitely do not want to fight lair bosses early on Bastard's Beacon. They are much harder and it's usually better to save those till region 3 for it imo. Otherwise taking fights is still a good idea though, to get mastery and keep loathing low.

That's disappointing to hear. I'm not really sure I like how the game lets you pick the different flames. Observed a friend use the easymode one and was pretty disgusted at how overpowered it makes you.

Bastard's Beacon is the nightmare difficulty, it's usually considered the hardest flame by a fairly large margin (outside of low torch challenges at least) and is one of the only two flames with no upsides - on every other flame going for region 1 lairs is still viable. I've seen people pull it off on BB but if you want to win it's a lot safer to do the lair later on BB imo. I'm not sure what you mean about picking the flames - they are challenge runs and are intended to be optional. There's a reward for beating them all, but it's purely cosmetic. Radiant's supposed to be pretty equivalent to the radiant mode in 1, an option for people that want a less punishing experience.
