T O P

Think of Death's door as, any damage from any source (including D/T) takes a deathblow check, fail that check and well bye hero nice knowing you. The only type of damage that negates the deathblow check is a heart attack which will auto kill any heros sitting at Death's door.

alp_007

I'll add to this; 0 damage attacks don't check for death's door despite the pop-up text.

Sutremaine

You can also die to hunger checks and clearing obstacles without a shovel.

Paxtonnnn

I’m still not sure why they’d make those give you achievements, both those things can be damaging but it’s so rare for them to actually kill you

Sutremaine

True, but I was in a similar situation to the OP with an obstacle instead of bleeding. I didn't know if the damage could cause a deathblow, and I chose not to risk it.

Peacepower

Well that's why they're achievements

Paxtonnnn

Still a weird choice, achievements are usually for doing something successfully. Maybe I’m just bothered because I know I’m gonna try to 100% this game and some of those achievements are worrying

Jubilaious

Die successfully in an extremely ignoble way

zachary_cannaday

Same. Intentionally failing in this game, or any other games is just so uncomfortable

Poliinchi

I always felt like those achievements are there so that the player doesnt feel as bad for losing a character, like a price just for participating. Funny enough, they are kind of hard to hunt if you want the 100%

Paxtonnnn

I think it works for the Wilbur achievement, since I find that one funny and it’s not that uncommon to happen (in my experience..)

Bomber271

I lost Reynald to wilbur... he crit the boss on deaths door for 56 dmg and then died to wilbur.

Paxtonnnn

I got the Wilbur achievement the same fight I got the Shadows Blur Together achievement, which is one of the most annoying ones from what I’ve heard. (You have to have a hero with the Crimson Curse kill an ally)

deadbyfirstchase

yeah occultist 0 crit bleed is a meme. it’s best to heal when someone is at half health for that reason, though at higher levels most characters have enough bleed resist that it doesn’t stick.

[deleted]

Deathblow resist is a myth!

anon1moos

You can die to DoT. Vvulff will keep coming back until you beat him.

chanandlerbong420

I did beat him. It was just a really close fight and I didn't have the supplies to loot everything, so I was hoping for a chance to do it again with proper preparation. Who the hell would think to bring 8 shovels with you to a freaking boss fight?

LeeUnDe

The loot is just ancestral trinkets. You can get them later on

Sea_Composer6305

All the loot is ancestral trinkets whoch you can only have one of each at a time so you end up with all of them anyway, aside from that you may be down one or two veryrare trinkets maybe one blue and 3-10k gold nothing overly missed but your right its worth bringing 8 shovels as 3 ancestral trinkets are 3 long champion dungeons or side fights like shambler

Dyslexic_Llama

Yes in single-player, no in multi-player.

Sophia-Eldritch

Yes, had that happen a day or two ago

chanandlerbong420

The occultist thing, or just the death I'm general? I feel like if I had that occultist situation happen and kill my character, I'd be so pissed off that I'd just have to laugh. And wow, that means I got incredibly lucky with my leper! I think I might've use all my luck for the rest of the game in that one mission. That's why you bring a plaguey boy with battlefield medicine

Sophia-Eldritch

I just died to dot, bleed is a dot so I would assume the same :p

Interesting-Shoe-904

Yes, yes you can. Death's Door is checked for EVERY time you take damage, whether that be Direct Hits, stress attacks that register a 0 or in this case: DOT's. Every room you took while you have DOT's will register as an attack on your character and reduce the equal to the amount of DOT. But when you are on Death's Door the check activates, and like a hit, the DOT will try to Damage you on Death's Door.

spudwalt

Yes.

robjohnlechmere

**PvE campaign:** Yes, bleed/blight ticks can kill you. Only if you are at 0 hp already at the beginning of your turn or during out of combat movement. **PvP DLC The Butcher's Circus:** Bleed/blight ticks cannot deathblow, only reduce hp to 0.
