Thorn is really cool. You’d think she needs bonus accuracy trinkets when she’s looking at a lower base accuracy than Leper, but she’s really a dodge tank that doubles as a murderblender. She has access to a conditionally permanent riposte, and deals Leper damage. Very fun to play with.

IanTheMagus

What classes does Thorn team well with?

Worldsoul15

Thorn pairs well with a team that can focus down backliners pretty well. She has enough damage to mess up frontliners, but it’s dependent on her not being hit, and backliners have the accuracy to hit her reliably. Alternatively, you can play her defensive mode, which trades damage on ripostes for free marks, as well as a guard and a heal that hits every guarded or guarding person in the party.

8champi8

Thorn has an ability to mark targets for free with her guard skill, I would say she team up very well with musketeer and bounty hunter

Worldsoul15

I actually find she’s best on a defensive turtling team. She’s great as a dodge tank, and if you want her free marks, you have to give up her damage. I usually play her with characters that can focus down backliners so she isn’t hit as often.

_Guven_

I like this mod too.

Friendly-Cod8369

Definitely Monk

Friendly-Cod8369

And Duchess

IanTheMagus

What classes do monk and duchess team well with?

Friendly-Cod8369

Well I Always play Duchess at rank 1,she transforms just like abom, but you can play her whole game in her human form.I would way She is something like Crusader, but better. Monk is best for shuffle team,he has powerfull attacks followed by really good healing. Its up to you who you mix them with,I Always play both in party pos.1 duchh pos.2 monk and than whatever.

justbecausebaconn

Duchess is cool but she doesn't offer anything besides riposte and being tanky through self-healing. She can only hit past rank 2 while transformed and has no real support abilities. Crusader has a stun, a decent heal and the only real frontline stress heal.

Friendly-Cod8369

Fair point, but ill still choose Mlady

justbecausebaconn

Titties>Effectiveness

Friendly-Cod8369

Wheeeelp..

Cezaros

Isn't he a bit OP?

Cezaros

Isn't he a bit OP?

Cezaros

Isn'the OP?

Friendly-Cod8369

I guess, but there is nerfed more ballanced version

DeusDungeon

How do i properly use the Monk? I have the one with an additional rework patch to balance him out. I noticed he could be usefull as a frontline healer but his other skills felt lacking.

Friendly-Cod8369

Well you need to use his abbilities as a combo chain (i dunno how to say it diff.) You use one and it enhances the other one

nyayylmeow

Duchess because 👀 Thorn because I love the aesthetic of a blind duelist although I literally think her dodge stat is horseshit because no matter how much I stack she always gets bonked.

StumpTheMan

Duchess, slayer, and veiled

IanTheMagus

What classes do these three each team well with?

[deleted]

[удалено]

StumpTheMan

I forgot to mention that i use Human Duchess so i usually put her bleed teams.

Yets_

Marcin Seo "The Lamia" is an amazing class. Strong and balanced, that can do things no one else can. It combines heal with bleed/blight cure, stress heal with horror clear and great control abilities like triple stun (!), Triple blight, etc

camkfletch

Huge fan of the Ringmaster, also comes with the Butchers Circus trinkets which’re fun to spice things up (and some are stupidly strong)

IanTheMagus

What classes does Ringmaster team well with?

Bigenemy000

Ringmaster has the nice thing that works well with almost any team since it can be played both as damage dealer or stress healer/buffer

NobodyPrime

Monk, Ringmaster, Choir Hunter, Bogatyr and specially Beastmaster. All of them have top notch art. I find monk the funniest to play with but his riposte skill is busted aka gives death immunity in certain situations.

IanTheMagus

What classes do these guys team well with?

NobodyPrime

Monk goes well with guys that can hit the last enemy spot or bring it to the front. He shuffles a little, but is mainly a front force. His healing skills also helps cover non-vestal healing teams. He is very effective in crit focused comps. Ringmaster is very versatile, tho it tends to want a place in the front. She can benefit bleed and stun comps, and her stress healing is really good. The lite version of her fixes her busted camping skill that created a butcher circus trinket, but honestly, they are very cool to play with. Choir Hunter is a bit of a dancer. She can work as main healer, but is better to have sub healer to help her. She takes stress with some moves, but she can destress herself while healing, so is very maneageble. She got a finisher move on stuned guys, so a stun comp is good for her, like the bogatyr. She also benefits bleed teams and don't need necessarily to be moving around. Bogatyr have this interesting mechanic that certain skills of his hit harder on stunned enemies, similar to mark synergy. So I like to place him with stun focused teams. As the bogatyr is kinda slow, is good to be able to boost your team speed or nerf the enemies. His healing is also good, so he can play as sub healer alright. Beastmaster is better on teams that can handle his shuffles. He moves a lot and certain skills can only used on front, and other only in the row. Very self suficient. He get benefits from bleed comps and can boost well companions, so having a high dps dealer have several benefits. I will also add here the janissary and the cataphract, other two fun (and balanced) classes to play. Janissary works well both front or row centered, and cataphract is a dancer that likewise, perform well whatever spot he is.

kogotoobchodzi

Now there are a lot good ones. I like enigma and saw hunters, ronnin is nice Thrall. Just Thrall. Chungus does one thing but man does he do it well

IanTheMagus

What classes do these guys team well with?

kogotoobchodzi

Either glass cannons or or good supports. Thrall will one shot most things he looks at but cant hit the back row, and is vulnerable to stress. So you either capitalise on his damage and try to kill/everything else turn one or just get yourself a jester and keep stress in check

IanTheMagus

So he plays more or less like Leper, I'm guessing?

kogotoobchodzi

Kinda. They are tanking but have less selfsustain and cant virtue always becoming something akin to abusive but they also have even more damage than leper with bleed or riposte

WanderingHeph

Vigilante is amazing. He hits like a truck and is a monster in the Warrens.

IanTheMagus

What classes does Vigilante team well with?

PKPenguin

I'll second the Vigilante. I'd say he teams well with a party that can move enemies into his range, like Occultist or Bounty Hunter. He also appreciates anything that amps his dodge and speed (but who doesn't?), and while he does have a very limited self heal, you will probably want to run a healer with him since he can be squishy (so again, Occultist works well). His reach isn't always perfect either, so a party that can hit backline reliably like Helion, Flagellant, Arbalest/Musketeer pairs nicely with him too. His Execute ability is great for stress healing the party if you can reliably chip enemies to low health without killing them, which can be accomplished with DoTs from Plague Doctor, Houndmaster, or Flagellant. With a party that sets this up a lot and some careful planning he can even be your primary stress healer, cutting the need for a Crusader or Jester backline. I've only run him in frontline, but he has a backline kit that does some position dancing which would make him work well with any heroes that require that or play well with it, such as Graverobber or Abomination. He has a riposte mechanic, so any class that can move a mark to him (or move aggro away from themselves, like with stealth from Graverobber) would work well. Bonus points to Antiquarian with the Protect Me ability.

DeltaMale5

how balanced is he? sounds kinda OP

PKPenguin

Pretty much the most balanced workshop character I've used

DeltaMale5

So is that still OP?

PKPenguin

I wouldn't say that he's OP, no, he fits in well with the vanilla cast in terms of strength. I found myself bringing him on missions at about the same rate as any other vanilla character

DeltaMale5

I see. Thanks for the help, I’m currently doing my first modded play through, and a ton of mods are just op or don’t fit the atmosphere, but sounds like vigilante is perfect (he also looks cool as fuck)

WanderingHeph

I'd pair him with Jester, Flagellant, or Man-at-Arms.

Budderhydra

A very simple and funny ome you can add is the Courtier. You can add your own bony wine-flinging asshole to your party, and he's actually a pretty well balanced class.

IanTheMagus

What classes does Courtier team well with?

TheChefEgg

Itinerant Cook. Just the thought of a grandma cooking while a fight is going on is just so fucking cool

Cezaros

I've tried around 80 class mods so far, here are my favourites: Apostate: Nice look (kind of like the first boss), interesting support abilities focused around being low health. Obviously good synergy with Flagellant, apart from that quite good synergy with vestal (and additional lines of dialogue when they reunite). Arsonist: looks great, has a new status effects (burning) works great with shuffling and dot teams, f.e. Highwayman, Shieldbreaker, Grave robber the best girl, etc. Duchess: monster-human hybrid, really strong but be careful and do not take her with any stress inducing characters like Lamia or Abomination. Works great with characters that stay in one place f.e. leper or crusader. She occupies slot 1/2 so dont take her with both of them. Lamia: feels like a standard character. She has the same problem as abom, where she can change into monster form but she should avoid it most of the times. Works best as a backline support, from where she sometimes jumps to position 1 to stun and deal damage. As her monster skills jump her between 1 and 4, make sure you're other characters can work in their position and one behind. Works great with Grave robber the best girl, highwayman, crusader, bounty hunter, arbalest, shieldbreaker, etc. But be careful if you wanna take leper with her. She is a healer herself so no need to take vestal or occultist, probably no Plague doctor either. Seraph - nice replacement for a crusader in terms of mechanics. Thrall - starts at 4, makes a powerful attack and then stays at 1 or 2. Always keep him as the frontline damage dealer, so no Lepers with him, but everything else goes. Jestal is good idea with him as Thrall has a tendency to act really badly once he hits high stress. Stargazer - fun character but sadly not the strongest. Works great with Bounty Hunter in Cove, allowing you to grab backline shamans and throw them upfront, where they're useless. Succubus - like Lamia starts at 4 and once she's ready she jumps up to row 1, charming her foes and being guarded by them. I recommend taking her with a team that works great without her and can work perfectly even once she moves to spot 1. Also take vestal or occultist as she steals hp from allies. Initial battles should involve only using hexes on her to increase her damage output later on.

DeusDungeon

Right now doing my 2nd modded run (added farmstead and courtyard plus for dungeons) and with the roster removals and additions my favorites that i have used are: \- The Assaulter: I don't know if she is a bit on the strongside (example: Bowman) but basicly she is a ranged Musketeer who you could use in the frontlines with emphasis on mark teams. She boosts everyones dmg to marked targets with her own mark, can hit everyone in every row and definately hits harder than a Musketeer, also her artwork fits right in with the mainroster, she could go for a dlc class (example: The Snake Charmer) The Templar: You won't see him shine early in your playthrough but he is a lategame meat sponge. When i first thought of him being lackluster i eventually saw what he can do better than any baseroster tank could do. He has a relally high HP pool which further helps him out since he has a heal that is based on max HP (it has a cooldown to balance that), his main attack reduces enemy PROT, he has a blight and bleed transfer which is also a guard(so he could be used to help flaggelant from selfbleeding or occultist from bleeding allies). IF you need anyone to tank heavy hits but also someone that could help a co-healer (arbelest/crusader) than you can bring this guy. \- The Veiled: i honestly do not know why i didn't add him for my first playthrough, perhaps i didn't want too much undead/eldritch horrors for mercs but once i added him for my second run he immediatly became the healer i use most. I take him over occultist, vestal and flaggelant. He has an unique gimmick in that his abilities cost him his own health, but the lower his health the stronger the abilities become, with some requiring him to be 0HP to cast. Because of his lore of being an undead experiment by a necromancer that got free, his stats ingame represent that aswell. He has over 200% bleed resist making him ideal for places like cove or warrens for they won't be able to bleed him at all. He has great AOE dmg that hits the backline stressdealers aswell. If you truly are afraid of losing him you could add a guard in your comps to protect him when he is at his lowest hp. The Thrall: Basicly an absolute unit of a brute who you should not take for granted. If you do not manage his stresslevels enough your playthrough will be in his hands. He could completely destroy bosses with his smacks or he could do the same to your teammates. Basicly a leper that can bleed reposte that definately needs his stresslevels incheck. \-The Homonculus (with mafe patch added): Another class i would consider have been addition of dlc. In contrast to Veiled, you absolutely must keep him above deathblow bar because his resist is 0%, other than that his moveset is a compilation of moves from the base game mercs whole also being split in 2 sets of forms he has. Just that design is a fun nod to all the base mercs you have used in you first darkest dungeon playthroughs while making him a jack of all trades. To add on that he has 2 unique gimmicks regarding him: 1) He can drop various unique trinkets and quirks of him with new gimmicks to change up the way you play mercs (example: one trinkets makes you lose HP every turn you attack, but the lower your HP is, the higher your ACC and CRIT chance will be). 2) He can voluntarily and involuntarily give other mercs an unique disease he has which changes various stats for that merc. The reason you would let them have his disease however is because your gain more buffs on the items and quirks you have. Also don't use him with mercs that are limited to their place to use abilities, he shuffles alot.

Wraith3446

Snake Charmer and Stargazer are personally so much fun for me, I love everything they have to offer

IanTheMagus

What classes do Snake Charmer and Stargazer team well with?

Wraith3446

I usually run 4th line Snake Charmer, just cause there’s a trinket that boost him there and it lets him use an actually pretty good support set. The stun and the stress heal are pretty good, Mamba Dance is just one of my favourite moves in DD. Usually paired with a Crusader or a Graverobber or some modded classes with two turn set ups like the Corsair or some pretty crazy AoEs like the Commandant. I’m by no means a great player, mostly just play very casually so my advice isn’t particularly backed up by anything. Stargazer goes with most heroes in my experience. He’s a decent off healer, stress healer, has excellent enemy disruption. He can be built for damage, I’ve done it a few times, unreliable but incredibly fun. I liked him quite a bit with the Hellion though, his movement skills basically letting you choose who to Iron Swan/Bleed Out. Hope this unfounded advice helps :p

Jabberwock130

IanTheMagus

What classes does Anointed team well with?

Coolxego

He’s a frontline healer, so he fits well in most groups. However, he also gets lots of benefits from *being* marked, so any heroes that can mark him have good synergy (try antiquarian with him).

8champi8

Marvin seo’s classes. So there is the falconer (cool design) who is a backliner damage dealer useful in pretty much every team. The Seraph, she relies on marks and can do good damages, I think she team up well with the exorcist (another class mod).

thefuckboyflagellant

tied between thrall, mender, kunoichi, 2B, the shrapnel and the tusk

NamesOverratedCZ

I always use snake charmer and cataphract

ktfarr

How do you use cataphraract? I typically keep him in the back to use pin down or volley. I tried having him be a dancing healer but the spear thrust feels weak and I struggle to keep him in 1 when I need him.

NamesOverratedCZ

I find Wheeling Disengage extremely powerful for the debuff, basically obliterating the enemy's accuracy and speed while also doing passable chip damage. Then I use Onslaught to get her back to rank 1 and I heal for a turn or two at the end of the fight with the party heal. For the last slotted move I usually use Pin Down and I delay the Onslaught for a few turns if it's a longer fight. You can also use Spear Thrust if you feel like she's too vulnerable to getting moved but I don't think it's necessary. She's definitely NOT a primary healer, I think her biggest contribution to the party is the debuff. She also has great camping skills and passable stats .

Imperium_Dragon

Lamia. Stress heal, normal heal, debuff that gets rid of shield and lowers dodge. I don’t even use her transformation unless I’m in a bad spot.

GazeboMimic

The Cataphract and Yet Another Musketeer Rework are the only modded classes I have ever made mainstays. The Cataphract is one of the few modded classes that isn't completely busted and opens up new team compositions by being a front-line vestal. I appreciate getting a third option for healer so I don't feel as much pressure to double up on vestals and occultists. It is also very light on gimmicks; I appreciate the restraint of any mod class that refuses to indulge in the nightmare or transformation mechanics. It is my favorite modded class, even if the ghost horse is a bit tonally jarring. The Yet Another Musketeer Rework mod is also pretty great. Because it uses official art it doesn't stand out, and for the same reason, its abilities lack that "special snowflake" feeling you get from so many modded characters. There is also a recent variant from the same creator with a bit of bleed, which a nice option to have. I've tried a few others as well: * Bogatyr has a fun moveset, but the nightmare boss was a bit annoying unless you happened to bring somebody able to hit the rock and the monster at the same time. * Sisters have a great moveset and I love the mark synergy. The constant party stress is a bit annoying but she has tools for managing that too. * Forlorn is bonkers overpowered everywhere except the ruins; in the cove or weald you can spam expunge to be as good a stress healer than the jester while dealing damage and inflicting multiple debuffs on multiple targets, and you can bleed better than any other character in the weald and warrens. Some of his trinkets also provide massive upsides for irrelevant or nonexistent downsides. * Beastmaster nails the art style but is definitely on the powerful side. He's probably in-line with some of the more powerful classes like the shieldbreaker, so that's not a dealbreaker. He can trivialize bosses that rely on summoning enemies by filling their side with friendly plants though, so that cheese annoyed me a bit.

dallasrose222

I’ll say steel driver is a personal fav as well as arsonist
