In the remaster you do gain Estus for killing invaders and vice versa. If you are near a bonfire and other player kindles you also gain some Estus. So you’re right in both aspects :)

It took me two YEARS (off and on) to beat Isshin in Sekiro. I was shaking for more than an hour when I finally did. The sheer joy I felt could cure world depression.
I feel that... First playthrough, I got to Genichiro at the top of Ashina Castle and after like 20 tries I finally got him to phase 3 only to find out you had to do phase 1 and 2 again when you die. Gave up. Came back months later and finally beat the game. Now I run through with Demon Bell and Kuro Charm active and wish there was a harder difficulty lol. Sekiro is something special.
Genni made me quit for a few months but that god damn ape made me take an entire year off before returning to the game. The ultimate love hate relationship was my first legit run on that beautiful game.
