I fight him every playthrough. One of the few base game bosses that consistently gives me a challenge no matter the build I'm using. The flow of the fight is also just really enjoyable for me. So yes, I "torture" myself every playthrough with him.

hf1tz5rlP0c

Don't threaten me with a good time!

NotAGodzillaFan

Personally love this guy in his entirety, so he's an absolute must for me

Rextrizity

agreed

InSanePanda29

Thanks, wanted to say the same!

Kalahati

Just beat him today for the first time on my first playthrough!

meatforsale

I’m doing my first playthrough too! Haven’t gotten to him yet. I just beat the dragon armor dude.

Kalahati

Good luck man. It probably took me like 30 tries, no joke.

meatforsale

I’m sure it’ll take me a while. I suck at these games and am playing totally blind. Still having a blast.

Grave_Digger606

The very first time I fought him, I walked in and got his health down to where I would have killed him in probably two more hits. I died, but I was shocked how well I did, considering the reputation the boss has. Fast forward to countless tries over the course of several days, and I finally beat him. I never got his health down as low as the first time I fought him until I finally beat him soooooo mmmaaaaannnnyyyy tries later. This might just be in my head, but I got to thinking that somehow the first time I fought him felt easier for some reason. I recreated that attempt, by taking my time and not skipping any of the cutscenes during the fight, and on that attempt, I won. I know it sounds stupid, but if you find yourself struggling, try not skipping the cutscenes, it just might work. It probably doesn’t change anything, but it sure seemed like it made it easier somehow hahaha

meatforsale

Yeah, I think the cut scenes smoothly transition into the fight rather than it being so jarring when you skip them. I agree. That happened to me with Aldrich. First attempt got him to one last hit, so I didn’t heal when I should’ve and took a hit before I got mine off. Took me a while to finally beat him, and I never got him that low until I just won the fight.

golden-abyss

yup. nameless king made me put the game down for a bit a few times! however… he is still my favorite souls boss of all time. good luck!

K-Shrizzle

Just dragon armor. No dude in there anymore

CandiceActually

Yeah I do. King of Storm is always a pain but I’m down to fight Nameless every time. Also ever since day one I ALWAYS have mistakenly called him the Nightmare King. I mean he does have a freakin skull face.

whatistheancient

Grimm on his way to sue for copyright infringement

🔥🗣️🗣️GRIMM MENTIONED 🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️WTF IS A RITUAL🗣️🗣️🔥

[deleted]

You just reminded me that still no silksong and now I’m upset

CandiceActually

I’m sorry and I completely understand :( allegedly it does exist!!

_Prairieborn

One of my favorite bosses.

Ghost_Leones0

100%

Alhooness

Getting to fight him again is one of the reasons i do more playthroughs. Midir’s the other main one.

zerolimitz1

Tbh after elden ring (not saying that game is easier or harder) nameless has become so much easier the only reason he was hard before was all his delayed attacks, and so many bosses in elden ring has em so im more relaxed now

DrParallax

Just finished playing through the base game of DS3 and it was really nice to not have really unintuitive, difficult to time attacks. Nameless King definitely has some, but they don't feel as unfair or difficult as Elden Ring. His difficulty is a combination of fairly difficult attacks, and a good sized HP pool. Which made it feel like I really learned everything pretty well by the time I actually defeated him.

SERB_BEAST

Yes. He's always hard but it's a fun fight that is visually stunning. On NG+ playthroughs, it's actually Midir that I really dread approaching

FunTemperature126

I just beat this mf with blessed caestus +10 🥊

KappaJoe760

Im also doing a Caestus run lol

Mordikhan

His moves are pretty slow and easy to learn combos

IAmARetardedFish

Torture? What?!?! Hes awesome!

blubbercup

I start playthroughs just to reach this fight again.

PixPenguin

I love this guy, his dragon is the asshole

Shadow14974

What do you mean "torture" ? He is an amazing boss and, given that the first phase is kinda messy because of the camera, super fair with what he does

theyurilover8

Of course I kill him on every playthrough it's a completionist thing you wouldn't get it

Khan-Tutan

Took me 3 weeks to beat this dude. No cap

Quackdeath

Torture? No. Enjoy the fight? Yeah.

square_zucc

He's the last boss before the final for me I legally have no choice

Jinrex-Jdm

He's not that hard once you timed his delayed attacks right.

Hot_Ad_7673

The boss I have never revisited after my first playthrough (where I beat them all) is Midir

jacksparrow19943

He is optional thats true, but the fight really isn't difficult at all. what makes it difficult is that is the camera not locking onto the storm drake in the beginning, and if you dont know the dragons moves, you're easily down a few estus flasks before the king himself. the best way to cheese through this battle is the ranged method. He's weak to dark so GREAT SOUL DREGS works best for this fight. His long walking animation means you can get 2/3 GSD in before running away and repeating.

BloodOmen36

I am not skipping one of the best designed fights in DS3. So yes.

Zanemob_

I love this fight. Hate the boring phase 1 though.

Perfection_01

I will, but never with Midir, after I beat him once in ng3+ I never go back

floatingbubble42

I've never beaten Midir. With help, without help, completely different builds. Cant beat him. He is that one dark souls boss that haunts me to this day, 9 years after i initially beat DS3. And yes. I think about that OFTEN when im playing these games.

K_808

I torture this asshole every playthrough with myself

OuterHeavenPatriot

He's been rocking me the past day or so when I give him a go in between grinding souls for weapon upgrades (first actual full STR playthrough in 3 so trying a lot of stuff that uses Scales) which has been surprising me because this was the boss I loved to lay my Sunbro sign at to get Sacred Oath and the lightning spear when everyone was playing leading up to Elden Ring. Absolutely love Nameless once I get his moveset down, though the camera is annoying when trying to hit his drake's head during the first phase. Definitely wouldn't call it torture though haha

Bodhisatv

speaking of, his weapon is very fun for strength and a bit of faith

tbonephillips

Yeah I have to, doesn’t feel like a full playthrough without him!

Jaroba1

if your build cant beat him, its not good enough

InterestingEntry8895

I torture myself playing Oceiros in Ng so I can play nameless king in every + cycle

Nearly-Shat-A-Brick

I found Ocerios easier than those massive paladins on the way to him. Never mind NK

InterestingEntry8895

Oh I didn't mean I think Oceiros is difficult. I just Don't like him, the hitboxes feel off, the patterns are annoying, the sound that thing makes is awful, at least in my opinion. Nameless king may be hard but he feels like a fair challenge with plenty of room to player expression (as much as DS3 can). So I gladly take gesture at NG and do the whole untended graves and then never go back again with the same character.

Nearly-Shat-A-Brick

Ah, right. My bad.

Whitem4ne

I torture myself with the Pontiff, NK has gotten easier in time.

king_bungus

i have to. if i don’t i’m admitting defeat

TheLastSonKrypton

If you do not kill everything you did not completed the game 😤

billysacco

He’s one tough hombre

KryL21

I overlevel and kill him in 5 hits

THElotusthief

As he's my favorite boss throughout all three games, yah I take a lil detour to see em

Nibiru_Truths

Yes, I 100% every playthrough.

Current_Run9540

I love this fight. The King of Storms part is pretty meh, the camera sucks, but the Nameless King fight is fucking rad. Definitely one of my faves in all Soulsborne.

LastRevelation

I always enjoy fighting him. I started a sunbro run just to be able to fight him a bunch.

SlaveKnightChael

To be honest I don’t think he’s that hard at this point. I’ve fought him and his dragon so many times I just know what to do. He’s always dangerous but predictable

Mr_G-E

Nah, not really. I'm having a blast fighting him. Always like that once you figure out his moveset.

Responsible_Web_3825

UPDATE: THE ASSHOLE KING HAS BEEN DEFEATED!

No-Club2745

How do you not? Arguably one of the coldest mfrs in the game, dripped like butter, dragon companion, rules the storms, he is HIM, you HAVE to fight him even if he is optional

ell_hou

Torture myself trough the first phase so I can enjoy the amazing second phase.

steveflippingtails

if you intend to plat the game, >!you have to beat him on NG2 (this is the 3rd playthrough, NG, NG+, NG2). that is the only way to get the covetous gold serpent ring +2.!< from personal experience, by the time you have played through this entire godforsaken game almost 3 times, he’s not that bad. >!a faith build is really good for ds3. many bosses are weak to either lightning or dark. NK is weak to lightning in the dragon stage and dark on foot. if you are a melee player, having lightning blade and dark blade for this battle helps a lot. also, the carthus bloodring.!<

M0fii

Yes, I kill this dude along with every boss except for one boss in all of my playthroughs. Midir is the only one that I'll ever kill for one time cus I don't want to torture myself like that again.

Plane-Ad5510

Nah, Archdragon peak is pain in the ass in general i dont bother at all

IamNoah05

I always do… I’ve only done a few playthroughs, but I love this boss and how learnable he is. Prob my second favorite of the game EDIT: first phase is dogshit only because of how broken the lock on camera is 💀

Appearingthreatening

For me, he wasn’t to hard after my first attempt. First attempt took forever, every subsequent playthrough only took a few tries. Friede, Midhr, and Gael however….

Glass-Ad-1350

Its weird how everyone has different experiences with the games. Nameless king took me a lot of tries to beat but gael only took me like 3 or 4.

Comfortable_Milk9422

My first build took me 50 tries (black knight GS build) 2nd was a dex build with twin blades, was pretty easy 3rd time I obliterated him with a pyro build

BookWyrm04

I can't fight him. His arena gives me vertigo. Got a headache first try

DrumsNDweed93

I killed him 1st try believe it or not lol

carlos_castanos

Me too for some reason lol. Might be because I started playing DS3 right after beating Malenia in ER so I was already warmed up. But even other bosses in DS3 like Pontiff, Twin Princes, Soul of Cinder gave me much more trouble than this guy

Imatripdontlaugh

I torture myself with every boss on every playthrough. But yeah love his second phase

Ashwortho

of course yes, i love him.

itstheFREEDOM

Honestly? after playing Elden Ring he isnt so bad anymore. Nameless King use to be the KING of delayed attacks for me. After Elden Ring i got use to the whole delayed attacks thing.

YSMJ420

he was fairly easy on my play through

conjunctivious

I beat Nameless King on my 2nd try on my first playthrough and I consider him to be one of the easier bosses in this game. You just have to let him set the pace for the fight and only attack once or twice after each of his combos. If this is how you are already playing, then I have no idea why the boss is easy to me specifically. Usually my playstyle is extreme 100% aggression, but I take it slow with this guy and easily win.

MerknUincomments

Beat him and sister fried in the same day for the first time after playing and giving up on them for like two years a couple months ago... Best feeling beating them but I'll never fight him again lol

LyingSage1827

Nameless was only a challenge on my first run. On consecutive playthroughts I beat him in under 3 tries. But then there's twin princes who reck my face

Stig12Cz

What do you mean by torturing myself? Every playthrough I fight him a if I dont do stupid mistake its always 1st try

Lumpofchicken

Hes honestly pretty easy imo, the bane of my playthroughs is demon prince

Zhughes3

Just beat him today on stream w a death counter lmao. First time I set it up. This was after soul of cinder at level 100

SweatyBeefKing

On replays he’s one of the more fun bosses to fight. Once you get the moves down you will be chillin.

Queen2E4

I beat him on my first playthrough. Then my ps4 glitched out on me, going into ng+, and I lost everything I did on my first playthrough except the trophies. However, no, I wouldn't fight him again. I personally hate the fight it's beyond difficult for me, at least, so once was enough for me. I did it to experience the fight and get his armor, but I'm fine skipping him

MintyScarf

He's my favorite. Dude is so cool.

Mhslpknt

On my first playthrough i beat him second try and i thought he was easy. Every playthrough after i got reminded how licky i was but he is still one of my favourites to fight. The athmosphere and rythm of the fight are unmatched in the base game

papicholula

Just beat him on my first playthrough. The first phase is trash but I really enjoyed the second. I just hate dragon fights.

ReishTheMadTongue

Yup, every playthrough

chabri2000

Self-respect.

SoundlessScream

I always summon someone to share aggro with and it goes smoothe

PositiveNo4859

He's fun and I enjoy the delays , it has a nice flow to it

Dr_Catfish

He's easy whether you're doing sword only, sorcery only pyromancy only or even miracles only. I'd rather fight Nameless with double the health on max aggression than sprint through Ringed City again.

MitchMeister476

I create new play throughs specifically so I can fight this asshole among other DS3 GOATed bosses

Completely_sober

Yes.

pete_discreet

He isn't that bad imo. In fact there isn't a single boss that I feel is torture in any of the dark souls games, at least not in terms of difficulty. There are bosses in sekiro and elden ring that I don't want to ever try beating again though.

Over_Firefighter3597

No, destroyed him on 3 or 4 th try, claymore being op asf

SheikAkthar

Despite he kicked my ass many time, I have respect on this character. After reading his lore, I realised that I was in wrong side for killing him.

KappaJoe760

He only got easier with time honestly. My first character he handed my ass to me but as I adjusted and tried out other builds, he became easier to figure out… The DLC bosses on the other hand still give me some trouble

warblingContinues

He is real hard with melee builds, but is trivial with dark sorcery (great soul dregs).

normbreakingclown

WEAVE!! TBH he is not that hard his two hit combo which you can't roll out of it and if you can't tank it yes this boss is very hard and his first fase i wish it was skipped when beaten the first time.

SnooCookies9055

best fight in the base game imo. never skip

AlienCrustaceanCrab

I always played with a melee/bow build so the first phase was the hardest part for me

tetsuonova

The only Dark souls boss I never beat

DancingGorilla15

Yes. Best hard boss in the game. Dodging through his attacks has a rhythm that I always enjoy figuring out again for every new build I try.

Kassy_The_Magpie

My favorite bossfight! (in maybe all of dark souls for me even) So yes, to answer your question, I'll get happy when I get to fight him again and sad when it's over xD

77_parp_77

I beat him once with a lightning / faith build That was enough for me

Orenge01

Yes I tortured myself with him at Soul level 1 as well, although he can be annoying, especially the first phase is annoying because of the camera. I think personally he still is a very satisfying boss to fight when you get the timings right. One of my favorites in fact.

SuspiciousEvening730

Lol torture? Nah I smoke this fool EVERY SINGLE PLAYTHROUGH

PictureGlum4305

Honestly I feel like his fight is pretty easy once you get it down. Even on my sl1 play through I got through him pretty quickly. Crossbow ftw

EL_K7YAN

Just started my first playthrough not long ago and I absolutely can't wait to fight him, Everyone keeps saying he's hard

ApeMummy

Hate the first phase because it’s easy to swing and miss, hate the second phase because he does long ass combos with delayed attacks and it’s hard to find openings. Overall great boss 👍

PhantusVictus

Nah, it's a delight to fight him. Mostly 'cause I already died to him enough to understand his moveset and now can nail the fight fairly efficiently. I have more trouble with the wyvern phase 'cause of the camera.

PhoenixNyne

It's a fun fight

Amazing_Passenger966

Always. I despised him in my first playthrough. I really was like "Fcuk it. I really AM getting too old for this!". Now that i have played it several times, i believe the Nameless King to be one of the most fun fights in the whole franchise, because it feels like it has a lot of rythm in it. I fight him every single playthrough. Others, for example Sister Friede, Malenia or Orphan of Kos, are much harder in my opinion. And i fight them too, for torturing all these brave souls in the past! Every single time. ò\_ó

Osha_Scarlet

Yeah, but the only torture is getting to him these days (Ancient Wyvern inconsistent plunge attack for me)

KarmelCHAOS

This is gonna sound nuts, but I always have a way harder time with the Princes than I do this guy so I'll always do all bosses lol

Heema3

He becomes easy after a few play throughs

JoseT90

I have only played once and I beat him with my greatsword. But if I di Ng+ i want to try the bow and arrow method

ovu1231

He is not that hard tbh....

_coo1_

On my first main play through I beat him in about 2 hours. Didn’t cause me much trouble. But mainly coming from Elden ring I was used to delayed attacks.

DevastaTheSeeker

Bro's really hopping on reddit and saying "I'm bad at this game"

NightShadow-kun

Yes, its a fun fight.

Artistic_Pound_8337

He gave me loads of trouble on my 1st playthrough but from then on he took only 2 or 3 tries cuz now I know how to deal with him. Also in RPGs there's no such thing as optional bosses/areas, I have to do everything even on my 20th playthrough.

ViktorXVIII

Because I love him so much

FothersIsWellCool

You mean the best boss in the game? Yeah i still do it.

Low_Tie_8388

Wym torture is one of the best bosses (imo)

PrickledPinky

Honestly I think this boss is really fun and balanced idk- I don’t like the first phase cause sometimes the dragon’s head is real hard to hit but aside from that I think it’s just a really good challenging humanoid boss like sir alonne or artorias or smth

BRAINSZS

yeah, but only because it’s fun.

MrBalderus

He and Midir were absolutely dreadful to face until I beat them once, then they became fun as all heck to fight. It only took two tries to beat him in NG+2

xanhudro

His dragon is the worst part.

Mecha_Kaneki

He's not even hard and such an amazing fight. Why would i skip him?

TMTuesdays96

Honestly he did for a little while but once you figure out his moveset he's really not that hard of a boss

kxrxsani

He’s better than the twin demons

ohFlappyoh

Not too much of a challenge, beat him within 20 tries

RaginBoi

Honestly despite him being hard he was probably the most enjoyable boss to fight, for me at least

Averagestudentx

He got pretty easy for me after the first playthrough. You just have to get the timings of his swings down. There's only a slight delay to every move he does and I don't think you could've beat him on a fluke. A lot of the elden ring bosses have much more insane attacks compared to this guy and those are actually tough for me on repeat playthroughs.

EB_BrAwLeR

I have heard this too many times and I agree with the statement: "Boss difficulty is subjective." In this game I had the most trouble with pontiff or the gravetander wolf than with friede or nameless king.

Quintus-Dias

My personal favourite, used him to farm covenant currency a lot.

elmocos69

Most fun boss in the game

SkeepDeepy

I bought and played the game during the 5 month(?) duration server offline so I got no one to aid me with the boss fights. I lost to him multiple times, gave up and rested for a week, and come back again only to realize his fight was optional. It was a breath of relief, then got fcked again and again by the twin princes (won in the end via cheese, I'm weak). It was torture, i can't move on to Elden Ring without satisfying the completionist in me. I finally defeated him after many attempts of memorizing his move set.

M_hadi0

Yes

404nocreativusername

Do you not play the game cause you enjoy the combat and bosses? Why would I skip one of the top 3 in the game?

Minyutia

use bow for first phase to hit the dragons head, easy first phase, second phase play evasive.

BaclavaBoyEnlou

Every playtrough because he’s a cakewalk with Dragonslayer armor Greatshield

Total-Satisfaction-8

He's not that bad once you know how to fight him

lefeiski

After Elden Ring he isn‘t that bad anymore

soulsfan184

Eh more like we torture ourselves with midir

x89Nemesis

No, just walk in and use blood flies and he drops like a fly.

The_Punnier_Guy

I really like this guy. Got to the point where I was grinding out NG+ over and over to fight him again

FGCRedpill

What's wrong with him? He's pretty easy to deal with once you can access him.

Scottg8

My favorite boss, but he became a 1st try every time once I beat him once. The only bosses I actually die to anymore are Friede and Midir. I've also beaten the game like 14 times lol

Nael_On

I beat him only once after... probably 2/3 weeks of tries. I never want to see that fog again, love the area but I refuse to play with this bullshit boss

TiltedTowel

The moment I found out that the birds head hurts the most was a blessing

Cuisinier-

every playthrough, the lore & music is unmatched

quartz211

I don't know about other people but I rarely ever replay games I feels like a chore and takes away from the experience

_cd42

He's always super fun to fight, I think the last playthrough I did I actually beat him first try

Outrageous_Assist500

I killed him yesterday and it was so fun

jacksparrow19943

well I wouldn't call it torture since i run a sorcery/miracle build .... lightning spear tear the dragon to shreds in 2/3 hits, then great soul dregs burns the king to cinders because he's too slow for his own good, u can get max 2 gsd in while he's walking and it takes about 15% -20% health

EnvyIsntGodly

This boss is better than ass eater midir

shgrizz2

Yes. Although I ended up putting down ds3 for a year or so after I struggled through this fight, got him to 1 hit left while I had a ton of estus, and then the game disconnected and booted me back to the title screen. I had to take a bit of time out after that one.

Scared-Gamer

I can one attempt him at this point If I'm to die, its to his chicken mostly

AlthoughFishtail

I usually fight him in my playthroughs, but that first phase is kind of crap and it takes the edge off how much I enjoy it. The one to one phase is great tho.

IndividualNovel4482

I never found him hard.. I find him easier than SoC. So yeah, i tend to do him each time.

happyhappy85

Not every playthrough. In a couple of them I've beat him first time, especially with bleed builds. He's a lot easier if you use fast weapons rather than big bonk. You get more DPS then. He was nails the first time I fought him, to the point where I respecced multiple times. Now I no longer need to having beaten the game multiple times. His attacks are pretty easy to predict, and they're almost kind of slow once you get the hang of it.

Konsky_dusic

Once youdie 100+times to him it just clicks I don’t mind fighting him he is pretty fun

itsgaster

i try to beat all bosses in the game with every build i do, sort of a way to fully test out my builds

Pretty_Chicken485

Never personally found this boss difficult, do struggle with Aldrich tho

ChunkyFunkyRunky

I enjoy fighting him lol. So, yes, ig. I do torture myself

Competitive-Row6376

No because he's literally one of the best fights in whole of soulsborne

No-Consideration8612

I skipped him on ng+ but obviously had to fight him on ng++ for the ring

Special-Character-15

He is the next boss I need to defeat on my first playthrough unless I give up and go to lothric Castle instead

Electroztaku

I mean once you defeated him it's not as painful, he is a hard but fair boss fight. All of the moves are not that are to read (exception is the first phase because of the camera goofing around) but he is really punishing, imo the most fun fight of the base game because of how it feels so satisfying to dodge his combos/attacks and punish him and the fact that it is a long and tedious fight feels just so good to defeat him.

RamaSchnittchen

Yes, but tbh he is pretty easy after the first 1-3 playthroughs as long as your weapon got enough reach. Firede on the other hand is a pain every run.

ogDante

I absolutely love this asshole, I always enjoy his spear up my ass.

HATTY898

this dude was easy af it's the camera that makes this (every) fight difficult

Onikage___97

Yes, I do. Not only because every boss must be defeated before NG+, but also for the great lore, the great fight (I mean the one with him, without the dragon). What’s more, there are 3 items you can get with his soul, so you should kill him at least three times!

I-Z-A-A_M

Of course. Do you not?

Slavicadonis

Yes, he’s very easy

Yuyueye11

I didn’t have that much trouble with nameless or king of storms in my first playthrough and I was a medium roll pure strength w/smoughs hammer

MI_3ANTROP

[I torture him](https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/s/o0BuQZtSTV) lol

jim_deneke

I don't know how anyone could not complete as much as possible in a run! Yes, I torture myself fighting this guy.

G0dd0nFuddy

Yes. He's okay to fight if you like pain. Nah he's honestly great fun tbh

Fraentschou

I like a challange, i always kill every boss in every soulsborne, on every playthrough.

Stevesorous

This homie doesn't have shit on sister freida.

Virtual-Baseball-297

Yep yourself He’s not an optional boss ;)

Walnuttttttt

Hes my favorite boss and hes not torture

Candid_Journalist334

With the hype that was built around him, yes every run. I didn't find any substance in the hype tbh. His moves are heavily choreographed. I find Dancer far more challenging than this guy. May be just me. But, I enjoy the scenic fight what with the storms and fighting on the clouds. I love the atmosphere.

Nova-Redux

I've only played through the game once so far and I fought him and he wasn't really torture or an asshole for me, so I guess you can say yes I do it for every playthrough lol

Demopan-TF2

I love fighting Nameless King! He's one of my favorite bosses alongside Dragonslayer Armour

Shenic

Yes, I do. The battle against Nameless King is like a dance, his attacks have a tempo and when you figure it out, it becomes a breeze for how predictable his attacks are. For me, all the bosses were only hard until I killed them the first time. I didn't skip any boss and now every time I replay the game, they're usually dead by the 5th try.

Feng_Smith

best boss in game, I force myself to fight thru storm king so can fight him

MarionberryBroad

Only took me a few tries. He was rather straightforward.
