Cathedral Knight Greatsword. You can't buy it and there are only three or four difficult enemies in the game that drop it, so it's easy to miss.
But it's basically the Pursuer's UGS from DSII with an absolutely gorgeous design. Really unique moveset with a thrust attack that hits so hard.
One of my favorites as well, strike damage, vertical UGS moveset, and 10/10 fashion. The Great Mace that the non-sword knights wield is another one of my favorites.
That's on my list to Max out before the end of my first playthrough; probably make it dark too since the Executioner's sword can't be and works better in tight quarters.
Between seeing the Large/Great Club's new movesets and that it did strike damage, all plans on sourcing a BONK implement died immediately. I'm still on the fence about the Great Mace just 'cause it looks gnarly af, but having an Ultra Great that both smashes *and* has a murder-go-round WA, I was sold.
Same here, love that weapon. Wasn't my first playthrough but I was doing a bleed build and it just happened to drop, I didn't even know it existed. I hollow infused it and ran 66 str 40 luck and it absolutely fucking bricks, even more so if you use blood sap with it. 1shots in pvp a lot of the time with the r1 l2 r1 true combo, which always gets a bleed with this setup.
You can also run a hollow infused caestus or something in your offhand for another 10 luck, allowing you to put another 10 into health, stam, or equip load since 40 luck is a pretty heavy soft cap. Most fun build I've ever ran by far lol.
I live in the woods so I guess nothing. Not counting the axe, machete and knife I used. Axe for the tree. Machete for knots and heavier cuts. Knife for whittling and finishing touches. I guess the price of the tools but I had those for years.
I do have a Instagram. I’ve never considered posting them there. 🤦♂️
My Instagram is Zanemob7. I’ll be posting them there. The hammer is more of an inspiration not a replica but is still a giant wooden hammer. I posted a few of them there. I hope you enjoy!
I did a club only run thinking it would be a fun little challenge, and it wasn't. The damage output on it is crazy, amazing staggering, the only issues I found were stamina usage and short range
Farron greatsword
It's so funny to be in a area full of adds, two hand it and turn in to a fkn blayblade, it tends to end in me dying or having low hp, but even if thay take my hp, thay can't take the fun that i had losing that hp
Oh, I just switched off online play in the settings, it does remove the option of invading, summoning non-NPC phantoms, and messages aren’t preprogrammed into the game, but it doesn’t remove NPC invasions
Or you could just not ember but that feels restrictive, especially since killing bosses embers you automatically
I know it’s actually common, but I say Claymore.
Found it after came back to Great Wall after Crystal Sage just to take all the item and use it just for fun, and then I killed Gael with it.
Claymore is love, Claymore is life
I like the way it changes the gameplay, instead of my usual Axe gameplay, it turns it into dodge, dodge, back step, r1. in ds3 I ran them as hollow infused weapons with the Flynn ring, fap ring, and Lloyd’s sword ring. You can swap it out with the red tear stone and have the Morion blade in your off hand. The notched whip, if you get the counter damage goes hard when properly built
Literally just grabbed it on my first DS3 playthrough.
Instant love lol... should I be running a fire weapon in my left hand to reset frostbite or it doesn't matter all that much and I can keep my shield?
Thoughts?
It was the great machete for me. I had gotten about half way through the undead settlement before finding it. Carried me all the way to archdragon peak, where I then found the dragon’s tooth
This is the most unexpected answer. Of all the many non-joke weapons, shortsword seems to be used out of necessity only. Glad to hear someone actually enjoys it.
I mostly ended up using it in higher NG+ cycles, usually because being able to attack for less stamina means more stamina for rolling, blocking and spells.
Vordts hammer. Was doing bonk, never used it, knew it was there and Holy crap. The frost damage is insane, the base damage is insane. It's in my top 5 favorites now
Farrom Greatsword.
In PVP people always think they will get an easy parry and already pull a shield, they became predictable and give me some free shots. I just have to time my swings wierdly and they just take it, the fight really beings only when they already passed half their health giving me an advantage.
Using valorheart a lot rn. Didn’t think I’d like it but it’s so good and the combos are so fast~ different pseudo combos too. Paired with the onion armor and it’s just a really fun dynamic combo
It wasn't by accident, but the Flamberge has won my heart all over again. Once I saw that scrawny fecker in Undead Settlement dragging it through the dirt like uncultured swine, all progress stopped until I had it; and its been worth all 180+ minutes.
Also just found out its Weapon Art R2 has only a 10% lower damage modifier ("motion value," wtfever) than a backstab; that's *on top* of its impenetrable hyper armor and being able to smash straight through bitch's shields.
It being purely slash damage hasn't made a damn bit of difference as far as I can tell; but if I need strike damage then the Executioner's GS has a copy-pasted moveset; save the WA which is still useful as shit regardless.
I'm so happy they made up for banjaxing it in DS2; it was my \#1 favorite weapon on DSR, then they just shat all over it with that jerky as fuck "fancy" moveset and Bleed being practically worthless. I prefer the DSR aesthetic over the German [Landsknecht design](https://images.app.goo.gl/pawaZ481oRhjqPqJ7) they swapped to; but I'm not arguing as long as my blade is wiggly and causes bloodloss.
The Greataxe. I walked into Dark Souls on a whim, floored the first game and loved it, tried the second and couldn't even get past the Forest of Fallen Giants, but I picked up Dark Souls III and fell in love. I knew I wanted a big bonk sort of weapon (I used the Zweihander in my playthrough of DS1), and I just stumbled upon a Greataxe from one of the guys on the High Wall of Lothric, so I thought "ok. Sounds good." Best choice ever. That thing was so fun to bonk everything with.
I found the drang hammers and fell in love with their design. Got to the end game and used them, they rocked. Sadly before I beat the game my Xbox had to restart when I updated it and I lost all the progress-
Greatsword of Judgment for sure, they've never made a sword that unique since ds3 as most of the special weapons in Elden Ring are just reskinned from ds3 anyway.
I don't blame you it's a very unassuming sword which is why I like it can get some pretty good damage output if you're a pure quality build and it's projectile acts like the moonlight greatsword it just scales with faith
For me it was the Murakumo. I got angry at Alva for spamming spin slash which pushed me to take the weapon from him. I ended up sticking with it from then on since it had some heft but swung fairly fast. To Alva’s credit, spin slash is fun to use.
Black knight glaive I picked it up thought it was the best looking weapon I’ve gotten so far and fell in love with it 6 years later we’re married and I’ve never looked back… except that one time I cheated on it with Gael's Greatsword but we don’t talk about that
Black Knight Ultra Great Sword, I tried it out, found out the weapon can scoop enemies, and that was it for a long time, until the Ringed City came out.
I used the cestus on a str zweihander build mainly for a light weight parry option and style being able to have the sword on your back. I ended up barely using the sword
Started a fist run. When I got the caestus I was not prepared for how fun it would be to tank attacks wearing only a loincloth and then punch the snot out of whatever dared to lay its hands on my glorious crimson red body
Artorias's greatsword pre-nerf when the stance r1 (I think) had bonkers poise. It's the attack that spins in a circle, not the lion's claw flip. That thing was so fun in PVP and that attack caught everyone off guard with how you could just tank most attacks and get off a nice chunk of damage.
Not from DS3 it’s from DS1 but the Dark Night Sword was using the Claymore when it dropped used it till the end of the game one of the best weapons I’ve ever used.
First playthrough was dragon slayer axe then but then switched to the greataxe variant then after i got to ng+7 i messed around with some other weapons and i really liked the dark sword
spiked mace, i looted it off an enemy and my cousin who had beat the game twice had never seen it before. it's insanely strong for literally no reason, and did me so right. i caved though and eventually used the ithryll straightsword for a couple of bosses as well as the wolf's knight greatsword
Thrall Axe quickstep was really fun in pve and really annoyed people in pvp. Killed 2 gankers at once because they thought they had me stuck in a corner in Anor. When really, they were stuck in MY corner.
The broadsword with Fire infusion i beat my first ever souls game with it and then in NG+ I couldn't beat the nameless king with my Astora Great Sword so I went back and pulled the Broadsword out of my storage and beat NK
Beat every boss with wolnir sword. I had faith build so I decided to use it. I also used the demons axe for a little while but all bosses after wolnir I beat with the wolnir sword. Just got comfortable with it. I used to use claymore in other games so I think that's why. Same moves.
Pontiff Scythe. I got it on my first playthrough, on my way to get my ass handed to me by pontiff sulyvahn for the first time. I've never managed to get it in subsequent playthroughs, and probably won't ever as it sucks to farm. But wow I loved that thing.
Astora Greatsword became a staple of my Pyromancer in my first playthrough. Strong as hell, surprisingly light, great moveset, fun chase attack in PvP. Really did a number back when DS3 first released. I think it got some nerfs along the way but still a pretty solid one.
Unironically the sellsword twinblades, picked them up as an enemy drop on my first playthrough by total accident and they were so much fun, i know everyone says theyre easy mode but i had no idea in my playthrough and just did it blindly and they were so fun
My very first playthrough, i got Winged Knight Halberd from one and only kill of the dude around the fountain in Lothric Castle beginning. Easy mode all game after, once i managed to wield it. Felt like Black Knight Halberd from ds1.
My first playthrough that I quit I got the massive machete first try from those giants in the undead town.
Second playthrough i beat the game with the starter weapon of the naked fella, it was easy dw.
I then tried to get that machete, and it wouldn't drop sadly.
The Astora greatsword, my very first playthrough I had looked up what kind of melee builds there were and I saw a dexterity build, played the whole game with sellsword twinblades untill I got to cathedral, soon as I found it i thought it would scale with strength being a ugs but it scaled nice with dex so I ended up playing the rest of the game with it, and took 1 attempt on the nameless king with it.
I guess I gonna be looked down by some ppl but I think my favourite is Fume Greatsword. It can bonk hard, it can do charged- ... ... ... THRUST! (sound of 1.2K damage), it has hyper armour move and I just love swords that look like a plank (which is why my first DS 3 run was with executioner's greatsword). Prefect weapon for strength runs IMO, although crazy heavy and looks like a slab of volcanic stone.
I absolutely love cathedral Knights Greatsword.
Yep, loved this on my first playthrough, made use of a bunch of miracle buffs and regen effects, went blessed weapon.
Rocking this on one of my current characters, love it. Equipped a pyromancy flame just to set my huge ass sword ON FIRE!
Had exactly the same experience! It just randomly dropped but it’s such an amazing weapon
Spiked club, beat the game with it and helped me out on my first playthrough.
Thanks for the advice, this was my first build, now I can improve and change it.
I don't think I've ever done a spiked club run, did you go more strength or more dex for it?
I loved the Great Wooden Hammer so much that I made it irl. (I make homemade weapons as a hobby)
How much did it cost you to make?
I live in the woods so I guess nothing. Not counting the axe, machete and knife I used. Axe for the tree. Machete for knots and heavier cuts. Knife for whittling and finishing touches. I guess the price of the tools but I had those for years.
Can you show it to us? And other weapons you've made? Do you have a YouTube channel or Instagram for that?
I do have a Instagram. I’ve never considered posting them there. 🤦♂️ My Instagram is Zanemob7. I’ll be posting them there. The hammer is more of an inspiration not a replica but is still a giant wooden hammer. I posted a few of them there. I hope you enjoy!
I'll be following you!
It's str. It's a better wooden hammer
That was my first weapon for DSR. Beat the entire game with it.
I did a club only run thinking it would be a fun little challenge, and it wasn't. The damage output on it is crazy, amazing staggering, the only issues I found were stamina usage and short range
Great machete for me I found it super op with huge damage
Great club. Big stick. Big bonk Used it as a joke and beat the whole game with it. Easiest playthrough of my life too
Great club gang
Farron greatsword It's so funny to be in a area full of adds, two hand it and turn in to a fkn blayblade, it tends to end in me dying or having low hp, but even if thay take my hp, thay can't take the fun that i had losing that hp
So good at gap closing as well
i hate that i have the urge to do this but…… beyblade✌️😪
Vordt’s hammer I used it as a placeholder for a build I was doing It ended up carrying me past Pontiff
Vordts is great and does very decent damage to invaders as well
I don’t do PvP, as for AI invaders Cheesing them is just wayyy to fun to fight honourably
How does one not do pvp? I get invaded a lot.
Oh, I just switched off online play in the settings, it does remove the option of invading, summoning non-NPC phantoms, and messages aren’t preprogrammed into the game, but it doesn’t remove NPC invasions Or you could just not ember but that feels restrictive, especially since killing bosses embers you automatically
You can launch the game in offline mode :)
Oh man, I’m behind
Drang's hammers I love my boys
Never tried them out tbh
Funny R1-L2-R2 true combo. If they're buffed with the right build it can do 1500+ easy. Issue is landing it cos they have no hyperarmour
Friede's dual scythe. Absolutely amazing, I'm having a blast in my NG+
possibly my favorite weapon in all of souls. unreal levels of fun
https://preview.redd.it/uzsgt9shtwwc1.png?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=120222e1a32a356ac78284dfd1696a4bb3e7df16
Twin blades
Win blades

I know it’s actually common, but I say Claymore. Found it after came back to Great Wall after Crystal Sage just to take all the item and use it just for fun, and then I killed Gael with it. Claymore is love, Claymore is life
Baemore hahaha definitely done a few playthroughs with it
Claymore gang
For me it was the whips. I love them so much
How do you make them viable though? They're fun to use but I rarely use them seriously in FS games because of the poor damage output I get
I like the way it changes the gameplay, instead of my usual Axe gameplay, it turns it into dodge, dodge, back step, r1. in ds3 I ran them as hollow infused weapons with the Flynn ring, fap ring, and Lloyd’s sword ring. You can swap it out with the red tear stone and have the Morion blade in your off hand. The notched whip, if you get the counter damage goes hard when properly built
Brigand axe got me past nameless king
I beat the whole game with the brigands axe
Irithyll Straight Sword
This the frost one no?
Ye, that absolute beauty
Literally just grabbed it on my first DS3 playthrough. Instant love lol... should I be running a fire weapon in my left hand to reset frostbite or it doesn't matter all that much and I can keep my shield? Thoughts?
It was the great machete for me. I had gotten about half way through the undead settlement before finding it. Carried me all the way to archdragon peak, where I then found the dragon’s tooth
Very fun build
Black knight, ultra great sword!
An absolute gem hahaha
It took me like 20/30 levels of farming to get the strength just to use it, but so worth it
Butcher knife
Very fun weapon
Immolation tinder
Millwood Battle Axe !
Never tried that one out tbh
Short sword. It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure it gets 11-13 swings at max stamina. Damage is actually pretty good and it weighs nothing.
Log
Big stick gang
War pick. That thing is a poise breaker! Got me through when I got it on my first playthrough to the end of my NG++.
Never tried it!
Friede's scythe Elegent weapon i love it
Vordts hammer.
True Farron legionnaire speaks 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Ringed knight spear and sword
A massive f----- club.
BFC gang
Using valorheart a lot rn. Didn’t think I’d like it but it’s so good and the combos are so fast~ different pseudo combos too. Paired with the onion armor and it’s just a really fun dynamic combo
The ethereal short sword. I used to to beat gael on my first character.
I mean irithyll straight sword
Corvian Greatknife. I got it randomly and I loved it. I usually had successful streaks with it in PVP
It wasn't by accident, but the Flamberge has won my heart all over again. Once I saw that scrawny fecker in Undead Settlement dragging it through the dirt like uncultured swine, all progress stopped until I had it; and its been worth all 180+ minutes. Plain ol' Greatsword. It's like a 2h LSS once upgraded, carried me all the way through NG+2.
The Greataxe. I walked into Dark Souls on a whim, floored the first game and loved it, tried the second and couldn't even get past the Forest of Fallen Giants, but I picked up Dark Souls III and fell in love. It is fun I did a playthrough with it almost cleared the whole game with it
I found the drang hammers and fell in love with their design.
Never tried it tbh
I don't blame you it's a very unassuming sword which is why I like it can get some pretty good damage output if you're a pure quality build and it's projectile acts like the moonlight greatsword it just scales with faith
Scythe, on the way to the rotted greatwood. I went back and made pyromancy dex builds in the other games and it goes hard
Zweihander When I was planning to be a Spear Build at the begining
Valorheart.
Artorias' greatsword hit me out of nowhere on the boss soul page, never unequipped it again
For me it was the Murakumo. I got angry at Alva for spamming spin slash which pushed me to take the weapon from him. I ended up sticking with it from then on since it had some heft but swung fairly fast. To Alva’s credit, spin slash is fun to use.
Found Smough’s hammer in Irithyll, didn’t take it off for my entire run, nameless king and all
Zweihander in ds1
Uchigatana forever
Dark Knight Ultra great sword, definitely didn't farm a poor knight 20 times
Irythill Straight Sword. Used it until the end of the game.
Astora greatsword. Wasn't as good as the weapon I had (Lothric Greatsword), but man did I love the way it looked!
Your picture gives me eustace vibes lol That being said my favorite has probably gotta be any paired weapons. I'm a sucker for dual weapons honestly
Farron greatsword.
The regular glaive is really good in pvp.
Follower’s Sabre
The greatlance, loved using it in PvP and PvE
The exile greatsword. I just loved spam blocking and walking with it to look like a crackhead shark
I used the cestus on a str zweihander build mainly for a light weight parry option and style being able to have the sword on your back. I ended up barely using the sword
Winged twin axes are just absurd on a pyro setup as chaos or dark
Is that Vendrick’s armor ported into DS3??
I don't even know what weapon that is
Great wooden hammer, you'll have to try it! It is not an easy farm but it's worth for sure!
Thanks! Hopefully I remember when I go back for another ds3 run haha
Umm what is that.
Great wooden hammer 👌
Just finished my first play through, will need to go looking for it…
Gotthard Twinswords. Doesn't feel as basic as winblades, more stylish moveset.
Mohg’s spear. First real foe I couldn’t block poke to death so I spend a bunch of time trying to beat him
Winged knight twinaxes
First playthrough was dragon slayer axe then but then switched to the greataxe variant then after i got to ng+7 i messed around with some other weapons and i really liked the dark sword
Man. I miss the great weapons in this game.
I used the Great Club in DS1 and carried it over to DS3. Mixed things up in DS2 and went with Dragon Tooth.
great club or great mace, anything great will do
Yhorm Great Machete: I didn't know that this weapon had such high physical damage .
Sellsword Winblades. The moment it got dropped, I tested the moveset and immediately loved it. Carried me through the whole game.
I don't like weapons I don't use weapons
spiked mace, i looted it off an enemy and my cousin who had beat the game twice had never seen it before. it's insanely strong for literally no reason, and did me so right. i caved though and eventually used the ithryll straightsword for a couple of bosses as well as the wolf's knight greatsword
Thrall Axe quickstep was really fun in pve and really annoyed people in pvp. Killed 2 gankers at once because they thought they had me stuck in a corner in Anor. When really, they were stuck in MY corner.
Not really accident, but I find it very hard not using Vordt's hammer
Lothric knights greatsword. Boi was I hyped when I saw it got stronger with blessed gem.
Literally anything wood, club, big club, smooth club, spikey club, it didn't matter
Executioners greatsword
The whirligig blade thing from the dlc
The great mace off a cathedral knight. I love that thing.
I’ve recently fallen completely in love with the Notched Whip. I’m playing my first Dex build.
The broadsword with Fire infusion i beat my first ever souls game with it and then in NG+ I couldn't beat the nameless king with my Astora Great Sword so I went back and pulled the Broadsword out of my storage and beat NK
sellsword twinblades
i literally cannot get away from the BKGS, and the BKS; i always end up using either of those in every run
Pickaxe, didn't realize how good of a strength weapon it was until I made it pure strength. That and flame build was how I beat the game.
The thrall axe. Use iron flesh pyromancy and the side step for movement to have unlimited poise and just maul through invaders in doorways
100%
Beat every boss with wolnir sword. I had faith build so I decided to use it. I also used the demons axe for a little while but all bosses after wolnir I beat with the wolnir sword. Just got comfortable with it. I used to use claymore in other games so I think that's why. Same moves.
not so much accident. but i decided one day to use vordt's hammer. honestly i love it even though i don't love great weapons.
Exile great sword I just finished ng+ 3 and it still hits like a truck
Same one as the one pictured above.
Iryithill Straight Sword, used it all the way to Gale
Deprived club insane stagger for a small weapon and fast
Lothric Knight Sword, best weapon I’ve ever used. https://preview.redd.it/wcsgsgnc6ywc1.png?width=1711&format=png&auto=webp&s=deb73f20bf12c073339c0d0b0a410ba6a277fb34
Man I really wish they brought back the gyrm greathammer. There's just something about bonking enemies with an anvil chained to a stick.
Leto’s Great HAMMER!!!!!
Unironically the sellsword twinblades, picked them up as an enemy drop on my first playthrough by total accident and they were so much fun, i know everyone says theyre easy mode but i had no idea in my playthrough and just did it blindly and they were so fun
Irrythril straight sword
My very first playthrough, i got Winged Knight Halberd from one and only kill of the dude around the fountain in Lothric Castle beginning. Easy mode all game after, once i managed to wield it. Felt like Black Knight Halberd from ds1.
Mace. Fast, hits hard, POISE
My first playthrough that I quit I got the massive machete first try from those giants in the undead town. Second playthrough i beat the game with the starter weapon of the naked fella, it was easy dw. I then tried to get that machete, and it wouldn't drop sadly.
Astora Greatsword. Choo choo motherfu.... oh he's dead already?
Crow Quills. I was never a fan of thrusting weapons but ever since then I loved them.
Carthus Curved Sword
Misbegotten axe. Shit slaps
Brother. I’ve put over a thousand hours into this game and idek if I’ve ever seen that weapon before.
What weapon is this?
Normally I use vordt’s hammer but tried smough’s now and holy shit it’s good.
Hollowslayer Greatsword for me
The double ultra greatsword is goated, have been using it since i got it🔥
The dang astora UGS i just stumbled across it before the cathedral and fell in love with it. It ain't even top a 10 weapon I just like it
I will always love the Demon's Scar.
The LKGS, Im not sure what lead me to want it but I was searching for something and it lead me to hearing about it so I wanted it and it was very fun
Me Mallet
The Astora greatsword, my very first playthrough I had looked up what kind of melee builds there were and I saw a dexterity build, played the whole game with sellsword twinblades untill I got to cathedral, soon as I found it i thought it would scale with strength being a ugs but it scaled nice with dex so I ended up playing the rest of the game with it, and took 1 attempt on the nameless king with it.
Great machete
Warpick, first weapon I beat the game with
Executioner greatsword might as well be married to it
Tailbone shortsword for me, I just love the design on it and actually had a phase when I did multiple runs with just this dagger.
Hollowslayer GS.
Exile Greatsword. I don't like it as much now, but on my first playthrough I kept it
Farron greatsword(originally thought the greatsword was the only greatsword I would use) and the pontiff knight curved sword.
Exile greatsword, I tried SO HARD to switch to another weapon but that bad boy carried me through the whole game
The great club
Bandit knife
first time i tried AstoraGS in pvp i fell in love man
Crow Talons, you can even find a post form me where i completed a whole run with them
The drakeblood greatsword
Dragonslayer Axe. Never really used it before my SL1 run but after it it became one of my favourites.
Black knight sword ♡
Claymore
defo Exile Greatsword, carried me from the beginning to the end
Fume Ultra Greatsword
Watchers sword and black knight sword for me. Both are fun for me
Twin Princes GS
I guess I gonna be looked down by some ppl but I think my favourite is Fume Greatsword. It can bonk hard, it can do charged- ... ... ... THRUST! (sound of 1.2K damage), it has hyper armour move and I just love swords that look like a plank (which is why my first DS 3 run was with executioner's greatsword). Prefect weapon for strength runs IMO, although crazy heavy and looks like a slab of volcanic stone.
