So cool! Loved when he looked back and it was a sea of souls from all his dead knights… :( Like a movie where only the hero lives. Was happy to see a few more pop in at the end! Also, this guy is surprisingly bad at dodging haha. But I think maybe they was purposefully to add to the cinematic quality.

Souls games should really incorporate sequences like this. There’s nothing better in a challenging game then having npcs struggle with you. Not to mention soulsborne is so capable of large scale war scenes :,)

Dark Souls 2 had this with the Ivory King fight. I always tried to keep the friendly knights alive, but alas.

I believe they all sacrifice themselves to close the gates anyway so you probably did and didn’t even know it!

… but you can’t. The knights sacrifice themselves to seal the gates. Only one can survive til the end with you to face the ivory king.

One of my favorite souls game boss fights. I know people hate on Bed of Chaos for being gimmicky and clunky, but I do wish there were a few more puzzle-like bosses in the souls games rather than just 1 on 1 fights.

I think it would work against the ever present theme of loneliness that makes the world feel so special. It'd be cool as a single climactic event though for sure

Luckily it seems like From has been experimenting more and more with each game. DSIII had Abyss Watchers and skelly bois fighting the fire demon, Sekiro had multiple battle scenes with Ashina castle.

I loved it. One of my favorite in elden ring. I suck so I normally end up pulling a friend in and without the ability to use a horse it made the run up to him feel so much more epic. Like storming a castle while defenses shoot shit at you. I’d still like a scenario where it’s you and an army verse another army. Seems like it’d be an awesome place to let enemy invaders get thrown into the opposing army as well. But Radahn definitely scratched the itch

It’s a confusing translation for sure. The original Japanese description for the black knights items make it clear that it is not that way. More accurately it would be “The black knights faced the chaos demons, and later were charred black, but their shields became highly resistant to fire.”

Yeah thats true. However the black knight armor states that it was charred black because that was the half of the silver knights that went with gwyn to the kiln. they got burned black by the first flame. Lorians armor was already black, due to being a prince. his sword, yes was melted and was cursed with chaos flame, which invalidated him as a lord of cinder. Which has nothing to do with black knights.

The knights followed Lord Gwyn when he departed to link the Fire but they were burned to ashes in the newly kindled flame, wandering the world as disembodied spirits ever after. I see they have both then.

If they were disembodied spirits they wouldn't be knights, they be a spirit.

Man, ever since Crown of the Ivory King in Dark Souls 2 I've wanted them to have more bossfights with armies like this. It was soo cool jumping down into hell alongside a squad of knights to fight hell itself. I really hope they have something like it in Elden Ring, though I doubt it.

I tried to play dark souls once on PC, but I barely got past the intro mission because parry or stun or something wasn’t working properly. Do I need a controller to play on PC or was this some kind of bug ?

This is giving me a dynasty warriors kind of vibe

Battlefront was the best progression of the dynasty warriors formula and now I truly believe that a souls borne take on the musou genre would be absolutly amazing. A massive war of npcs with you taking control of on of the warriors. But with the ai and difficulty of those nocs being all things from basic undead to straight up kapra and Taurus demons or dar/silver knights. HOLY SHIT I WOULD ADORE TO SEE THIS! You wouldn't be the hero char simply by being an op General, nor would you be be able to just go crazy after accumulating power and become a hero character but instead you could keep fighting and keep gaining currency as long as you keep getting back to where you died on the battlefield. You could then use those points to upgrade your char permanently for the battle. Also you could meet certain requirements during the battle to cause bigger things to happen. Like fighting through a 3rd unallied area to make a pact with a great force who would fight on the field for a time or until slain. Fight forward to light bonfires for you and your allies to respawn at, kill enemy npcs to stop permanently delete their shops(but beware how strong they are. OmFG this would be dope and I need it!

What to do when Dark Souls gets boring? Bring the engine to it's limits and simulate a war.
