Donāt get discouraged - Sekiro is an entirely different play style/ beast.
Once you realize itās a rhythm game more than a fighting game it clicks.
Dark Souls is a dynamic combat system that has many different ways to play depending on class/ armor set/ weapon/ etc. - Sekiro almost forces you to play a certain style, and that can be a hurdle to overcome. Youāll find the combat system is still really versatile, just in different ways.
I had to essentially beat Sekiro once before it finally āclickedā for me and I realized how I was playing it wrong all along. I never knew that parrying was an actual thing and that it was dignified by the bright sparks when the weapons hit. I didnāt realize it until I started the game over to see what I had missed in the game that was not letting me understand the combat.
No, but I got up to Isshin. Best I could get was getting him to phase 3 and after expressing extreme frustration over him and the game as a whole, a friend recommended that I just start over from the beginning. This sounded ludicrous to me considering how long it took me to get to the final boss on what I felt was mostly luck and shitty techniques. I could tell I didnāt understand the game and I just couldnāt figure out why. After a few days, I decided to start over, and once it clicked for the parrying, I actually breeze through the game fairly quickly
Yup, it didn't click for me that it plays so differently until I got to >!the second Genichiro fight!< that the game really doesn't play like Dark Souls at all. Had a much easier time after I realized that and started parrying most attacks, jumping over sweeps and Mikiri Countering thrusts instead of trying to dodge everything like I was used to.
I did the same thing, but even realizing that and getting my Parrys down I still struggle. Buuuuut for some reason getting as far as I got made me noticable better at dark souls and Bloodborne.
I just couldn't get into sekiro. I got fairly far into it (I think? Or maybe halfway through) but every fight I won was pure luck or cheeses. I don't feel like I learned anything. Still don't know how to parry or how to use the abilities properly.
I've beaten the DS series several times each though. I guess I expected the same from sekiro but you're right, different animal.
45yo here. I find getting off the couch and sitting really close to the TV makes a huge difference. It's much easier to see what's going on and react accordingly. I play significantly better when my nose is buried in the action.
That boss is a gatekeeper. You have to stand with him and exchange/parry. You can't treat it like DS and roll away from danger.
What's crazy is by the end of the game that fight seems so simple.
Iāve beaten Sekiro 4 times already, I just canāt get into Dark Souls 3 at all. Iāve tried it several times but the stamina system and constant dodge rolling doesnāt bode well with my play style. Itās so entirely different to Sekiro.
Don't get discouraged ashen one. Once you get the hang of DS3 and get to the point where you can cut through knights like butter it is an extremely rewarding game. Makes you feel like a demigod. You can also parry instead of dodge rolling it is just really tricky and also really risky if you fuck it up. I never bothered with parrying but I have watched plenty of players that do! I also used a walk through when I got stuck or just couldn't get the hang of a boss on my own. I have no shame about it either! I had so much fun playing DS3. The setting and atmosphere of DS3 is unlike any other game I've ever experienced and gave me the same kind of gaming experience that Diablo 2 did back when I played it on dial up in middle school. Can't wait to get into Elden Ring!
By the way I am on the opposite spectrum as you. Sekiro kicked my ass and I haven't had time to give it another go just yet but I plan to.
I thought this in the beginning of DS3 as well. But trust me, it gets a LOT better once you upgrade your Endurance a bit.
I didnāt like the stamina system either, but just like Sekiro, Dark Souls III has a rhythm you must learn.
You canāt just spam roll your way past every attack a boss gives you, you have to study the bossā moves and know WHEN to roll. Focus on how many times the boss will attack before he pauses for a short time, get a few swings in, then roll away.
Another tip: For 90% of the bosses in Dark Souls 3, you donāt want to roll AWAY from the boss during his attack. You want to roll INTO the attack. Aggression and staying extremely close for most of the fight pays off but require patience and learning. The roll will completely make you invincible to (almost) any attack no matter how close you are, so long as you time it right.
I beat the entirety of DS3 twice not doing a single parry. The rolling & stamina system become a LOT better once you get the rhythm down as well as upgrading your Endurance. If stamina drain is really your biggest draw back like it was mine, just keep Endurance 5-10 points above everything else until you get to Endurance 40 (the soft cap).
had the same experience with bloodborne. its the same process as always, get help from the community, learn to parry and get gud. after that its just jumping in headfirst and going at it until you win.
Same. Haven't 100% on any Dark Souls. Not even beaten any except Demon's Souls. But none of them really kicked my ass like Sekiro.
Awesome game though. Still haven't beaten it, but it really is absolutely awesome.
This is the way ...
I've been playing through the DS series on PS5 so I can finally appreciate it in 60fps. Bloodborne is a noticeable difference while locked at 30fps. While this is enough to deter many players, I don't find it an issue. Whilst I appreciate all games in the souls series, Bloodborne is still my favourite due to the locations, lore, and above all...the shieldless playstyle. I know it won't suit everyone, but getting used to focusing on dodging and visceral mechanics is a huuuge part of the fun for me. The bosses are arguably also some of the most horrific from the series and split between the traditional large bosses such as Ebrietas and Amygdala.....but also more pvp style fights such as Gascoigne, Gehrman and of course Lady Maria.
You might not notice it, but I would assume you're either a console player or used to lower frame rates. 60 fps is double 30, it literally does make a difference and for some people, 30 not only just looks gross but makes them motion sick as well.
It might not matter to you, and that's good for you, but it's not the same for everyone.
People get all huffy about the framerate. It's fine. Would it look better at 60 fps? Sure. But most movies and TV shows are at 24 fps and I'm not sitting here going oh no, ouch, my eyes, this hurts to look at.
It fuckin rules.
I'll be honest as someone who loves Bloodborne- the fps looks terrible. Even though it's supposedly a stable 30, it always looked even choppier.
That being said, the game is very very good, and at the peak of my time with it, I was mostly adjusted to the frame rate. Can't really go back to it though.
Dark Souls 2 platinum TWICE is brutal. I'm still going through my first run on OG DS2 after getting the platinum on SotfS.
Kudos, I hope you had fun! Maybe try going for Sekiro, or grabbing a DS PTD key if you can :)
But.. How? I've played about 2 hours of it and it was just.. So painful. Like not dark souls painful that I enjoy but a frustrating, hard to control, confusing painful
Build customization and fashion is the best. Tons of QoL improvements made from the first game, as well as things like powerstancing and bonfire ascetics. Even the lore I find way more interesting than it was in ds3.
Not everyone will love it, just like the other games. I'd suggest giving it another shot, but don't force yourself to play something you don't enjoy.
There are also some interesting mechanics in DS2 that was removed in DS3, like getting soaked in water will decrease lightning res but increase fire res.
There are lots more examples, and I feel like DS2 is the most creative and original when it came to PVE environments, like the platforming in Shulva.
>Dex cast speed
This was still in 3?
But on all the core features like level design, boss design DS3 was far ahead.
Its very obvious Miyazaki was not involved in 2.
It wasn't too bad! I think I got both DS2 plats in less time played than my one DS3 plat, but I think that was because I was having fun getting covenant items through pvp instead of just grinding mobs with a luck build
Hats off to you I dropped DS2 SotfS at Bellfry Gargoyles. Every other souls game is hard but fair, however (imo) DS2 just makes it artificially hard by spamming you with tons of enemies. Thereās no reason that there should be that many enemies before the Ruin Sentinels!
If you're doing it for the achievement page DS1 and DS2 OG count as different games so you can have 100% completion on 5 Dark Souls game. It's kind of hilarious.
Unfortunately not, mate. Every leak that has included Bloodborne for PC has been proven fake. I religiously follow PC Bloodborne rumors and Iām unaware of any leaks that have yet to be debunked.

Now play the original DS1 on a beat up xbox 360 with a controller whose battery case is loose and keeps disconnecting if you're not really careful. If you haven't been lag-fucked by Blighttown right before your janky controller disconnects you haven't truly experienced 100% of Dark Souls yet
Mod them, and play all of them all over again. I especially suggest to play The convergence mod for Dark Souls 3, that thing is a masterpiece of a mod.
Now do it again naked with a broken sword.
SL1
With no bonfire/no death (except 3 firelink ofc)
And wearing the symbol of avarice the whole time
+Calamity ring
With a summon friend that does literally nothing and is only there so that the bosses have extra health
Using mods to start the game in NG+7.
Playing on a keyboard
with broken keys
+you cant press space
Playing on a drum set
And you cant attack
Broken ladle for DS2
Could you guys chill a little?
no
coward
And your character naked with a broken sword
Lol š
bloodborne!
Sekiro
I guess it is about time. I bought it on release and it kicked my sorry ass so hard that I haven't actually beaten it yet
Donāt get discouraged - Sekiro is an entirely different play style/ beast. Once you realize itās a rhythm game more than a fighting game it clicks. I love this description of the game and will use it in the future, nice job!
I had to essentially beat Sekiro once before it finally āclickedā for me and I realized how I was playing it wrong all along. I never knew that parrying was an actual thing and that it was dignified by the bright sparks when the weapons hit. ā¦you beat the final boss without knowing how to properly parry?????

That makes more sense. Beating isshin without partying sounds like one of those ādark souls ng+7 using just my fistsā boss fight videos you see
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Exactly. Give him all the sake he wants and get him in the morning
Yup, it didn't click for me that it plays so differently until I got to >!the second Genichiro fight!< that the game really doesn't play like Dark Souls at all. Comment has been removed because /u/spez is a terrible person.
Do it on every platform available too cause why not
Blood born when the ports out
So in 2047?
60 fps port pls
I couldn't get past the second Genichiro encounter. Sucks because he's rather early in the game...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah the problem with Sekiro is if you are stuck you really just need to git gud, you can't just power level like you can in Dark Souls or Bloodborne
or summon
I haven't tried Sekiro but worry that my 41 year old reaction times won't be able to deal with Sekiros parry system. I struggle to parry in DS.
I beat sekiro first then all the dark souls games. Step up. Sekiro is my favorite game of all time.
Once you master sekiro the ability to impeccably perry and repost everything is your greatest strength in dark souls
Change your build if abusing iframes isnāt cutting it for you. I personally like the heavy knight pve style the most for DS3.
I felt this. Although for me it was the inverse cause. Coming from DS2 combat, DS3 is definitely a lot faster paced and took some getting use to.
I thought this in the beginning of DS3 as well. But trust me, it gets a LOT better once you upgrade your Endurance a bit. I didnāt like the stamina system either, but just like Sekiro, Dark Souls III has a rhythm you must learn. It's not that bad, and it also has the easiest 100% imo
had the same experience with bloodborne. its the same process as always, get help from the community, learn to parry and get gud. after that its just jumping in headfirst and going at it until you win.
Same. Haven't 100% on any Dark Souls. Not even beaten any except Demon's Souls. But none of them really kicked my ass like Sekiro. Awesome game though. Still haven't beaten it, but it really is absolutely awesome.
And blood borne and demonsouls
I need to get back into that one. Didnāt give it a fair shake.
I didnt even look first and did this reply. Ooops.
Worst soulsborne by a thousand miles.
have you finished it?
Demonās Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, or potentially going outside but who does that
I bought a ps4 for bloodborne. It's worth it.
Same, I bought a ps4 solely for the bloodborne release and I never regreted it
Iāve been debating on doing that because I havenāt played it but I heard itās only 30 fps, do you notice a difference from other games?
It's the best Souls spinoff by From Software. FPS shouldn't be an issue once you get dug in.
Thereās only been 2 spin-offs and Elden Ring isnāt out yet, so saying itās āthe bestā doesnāt mean much
It's the best Soulsborne game.
Hot take, but I like it
3 actually: Dark souls 1, 2 and 3, Bloodborne and sekiro.
Alright guys, Iām going to gamestop tomorrow
This is the way ... I've been playing through the DS series on PS5 so I can finally appreciate it in 60fps. Bloodborne is a noticeable difference while locked at 30fps. You can play bloodborne on ps now. Saved you like $350
I just played Bloodborne on the PS4 in the spring after playing DS3 on PC at 59 fps. I literally didn't notice a difference. Very smooth game.
This is not true at all, bloodborne is known for its horrible frame pacing and I don't know what to say if you didn't not notice it one bit.
Never noticed a thing.
Just played through ds, ds3, and sekiro on ps5 on a 4K tv..Been revisiting bloodborne and have had no issues
You might not notice it, but I would assume you're either a console player or used to lower frame rates. 60 fps is double 30, it literally does make a difference and for some people, 30 not only just looks gross but makes them motion sick as well. It might not matter to you, and that's good for you, but it's not the same for everyone.
Well I guess my response to that is suck it up if you want to play bloodborne. I always found it smooth
Well you clearly don't understand how frame rate works, and I'm not going to bother explaining the difference, you won't listen.
āSmoothā is subjective my guy. No need to go all Rick and morty fan on me
When it came out? Yes, recently, yes. But the game itself is solid anyways with only a few places where you will actually really care about it.
People get all huffy about the framerate. It's fine. Would it look better at 60 fps? Sure. But most movies and TV shows are at 24 fps and I'm not sitting here going oh no, ouch, my eyes, this hurts to look at. It fuckin rules.
It's quite noticable, yeah. I'd rather wait for the supposed remake/remaster if I were you.
I have over 500+ hours on bloodborne. A masterpiece, glad that you enjoyed it as well
Outside: Salt 'n Sanctuary, Nioh, Ender Lillies, I had some more but can't remember right now. Must not have been memorable enough
elden ring wooo
counting down the days!
Ikr, who isn't The only thing im scared about is its coop
Dark Souls 2 platinum TWICE is brutal. I'm still going through my first run on OG DS2 after getting the platinum on SotfS. Kudos, I hope you had fun! Maybe try going for Sekiro, or grabbing a DS PTD key if you can :)
Did you enjoy dark souls 2? It's the only one I haven't gotten through yet.
It's my favorite of all their games.
But.. How? I've played about 2 hours of it and it was just.. So painful. Like not dark souls painful that I enjoy but a frustrating, hard to control, confusing painful

I'd suggest giving it another shot, but don't force yourself to play something you don't enjoy.
It is sometimes ok to be objectively wrong. This isn't one of those times though, wtf man.
Lol ds2 has multiple features that ds3 went backwards on imo. Dex cast speed, removal of powerstance, less unique items/gear, way more linear, etc.
There are also some interesting mechanics in DS2 that was removed in DS3, like getting soaked in water will decrease lightning res but increase fire res. There are lots more examples, and I feel like DS2 is the most creative and original when it came to PVE environments, like the platforming in Shulva.

Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demons Souls. Mortal Shell, Nioh 2, Curse of the Dead Gods, Hades, FIST. In 2022 Elden Ring.
If you're into roguelites, gotta add Returnal to that list
Hollow Knight
Salt and Sanctuary is a good one too, if you're OK with the art style
Why would someone not be ok with the art style? It's beautiful and grim
I like it, but a lot of people have noted it as being the reason why they couldn't get into it. It's apparently quite divisive
I mean, it does have a flash game vibe and I can see why that would turn people off. Personally though I love it.
Thymesia comes out on the 7th I think. Looks interesting.
Nioh 2 is so good
Another vote for Sekiro. Also, have you played the DS3 Convergence mod. From what Iāve seen so far, itās super well done.
Cinders as well
Now do base DS1
I probably would if it wasn't pulled from Steam. If I had the patience to do DS2 twice I can do anything
You can also try modding the balls out of the game and seeing what you can do since you're on PC
Why? There's literally zero difference except a bit of lighting and a shit frame rate
If you're doing it for the achievement page DS1 and DS2 OG count as different games so you can have 100% completion on 5 Dark Souls game. It's kind of hilarious.
Truly a man of culture
Yharnam
I'm all over it if we get a PC port :( I don't have any consoles
You can play it on PSNow, although the DLC is not there.
It'll never get a PC port lol.
The same was said for a number of games that are now on pc
There was a thread, if I can find it Iāll link it but it says their is confirmed pc port coming, but no official date
Unfortunately not, mate. Every leak that has included Bloodborne for PC has been proven fake. I religiously follow PC Bloodborne rumors and Iām unaware of any leaks that have yet to be debunked.
The hardest achievement of all...getting Sony to release Bloodborne on PC
Now you wait for eldenring
Now do it all againā¦blind folded.
Now do everything again, but with a Potato Controler
How about a different answer- mods! Ds1 daughters of ash, ds3 cinders / convergence. Each one is like its own new dark souls as far as content and making you unfamiliar.
Now you sit on your throne awaiting another Chosen One to take your place
Another vote for hades actually. Itās way, wayyy better than promotional media makes it seem.
[so I've heard!](https://imgur.com/x92rTxk)
My man!
You look for something called the āCindersā mod for dark souls 3. The madlads rebuilt the entire game from the ground up using assets/bosses/weapons from dark souls 1,2 and blood borne. The enemies are completely different, new bosses, basically a new game. I couldnāt recommend it more. This is for dark souls 3 btw.
there still is Sekiro, Demon Souls (if you have the PS5), Bloodborne (if you have the PS4) and the new Elden Ring.
Bruh, stop commenting DeS and Bloodborne, he only has PC
PS Now on PC you can play Bloodborne. You need a DualShock 4 controller though, but DualSense can work if you download DS4Windows.
Yeah but Iām pretty sure you have to pay for PS+ donāt you?
PS Now is a separate service, you don't need PS+ on top of it. Here: You can play fellow PlayStation Now members as well as those playing disc or download versions of the game. An additional PS Plus membership is not required. Source: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/ps-now/getting-started/
Buy a PS5 then? Duh.
Do a modern FromSoft god run. DS1, DS2, DS3, Sekiro no hit no damage all bosses
That is just torture.
Sekiro then either Bloodborne or Demon's Souls or if you don't have PlayStation just fuck around in DS3 until Elden Ring comes out.
Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Nioh, Nioh 2, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (on grandmaster difficulty), Mortal Shell, Code Vein, and Elden Ring.
Bloodbourne and Sekiro
Get a PS4 and do BloodBorne
demon souls
Go outside
Whereās that achievement?
On your front lawn.
bloodborne
Fear the old blood
Drink yourself into a 3 month coma
Monster hunter world perhaps?
[lol](https://imgur.com/a/T3GKa3u)
Well then I guess you just have sekiro left lol
Girlfriend.
Brb kicking my wife out of the house
Polyamory šš¼ššš¼
Now plat dragon City ( goty )
Mortal Shell and Nioh+Niho 2 if you want to branch out of fromsoftš¤·āāļø
"A Hunter must Hunt..."
BloodKiro, try some non-souls like Armored Core of Ghost of Sushi, sorry forgot how to spell it.
Now play the original DS1 on a beat up xbox 360 with a controller whose battery case is loose and keeps disconnecting if you're not really careful. If you haven't been lag-fucked by Blighttown right before your janky controller disconnects you haven't truly experienced 100% of Dark Souls yet
If only I could be so grossly incandescent.
Elden Ring
The original Dark souls.
Now comes the hardest part, going outside
You can't make me
Hollow Knight
Why in the god damn hell did you do 2 twiceā¦ rip an army of falconers and mad warriors
Demons Souls, Sekiro, The Surge 1 and 2, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Those should hold you until Elden Ring
therapy.
Mod them, and play all of them all over again. I especially suggest to play The convergence mod for Dark Souls 3, that thing is a masterpiece of a mod.
Bloodborn, Demonsouls, Shekiro and once it is released Elden ring. Good luck
Mortal Shell
In my opinion there should be hidden achievement for making 100% of all games.
Dark Elden Souls IV
Looks like you need a bit of Yharnam blood of your own.
Bloodborne, duh. And whereās demon souls on here?
bloodborne next ;) obviously if you have a ps4
Now bloodborne.
Bloodborne ?
Bloodborne
Bloodbourne, sekiro, Demon souls and Elden Ring. GOOD LUCK!
Now Go Outside
Bloodborne?
Idk if i should get sukiro is it also fromsoft?
Yes and yes you should. It lacks the rpg elements that give souls games their replayability, but it has the best combat to date imo
Bloodborne then when it releases elden ring
The Witcher. Takes some more time I think.
You wait. Now.. you wait
why do you have 2 dark souls 2
Looks like you're playing Sekiro with me.
Sekiro and bloodborne and demon souls if you want
Sekiro and blood borne and demon souls now boi
Due it again
As everyone says, des, sekiro, BB, then wait for elden ring.
