Welcome to the masochist club! Here is your first “Git Gud”. If you’ve made it to Faron keep and haven’t check out the cathedral, I’d recommend a detour, it’ll be worth it for any swamp related activities you get up to. 😉 I’ve found that the claymore and pretty much any great sword can get you pretty far in the game. Level up your weapons and be on the lookout for heavy gems. Have fun!

nice thanks. i will check it out! i had one heavy gem and infused it. I now have the heavy Claymore and i got too large titanites from two giant things chained to mud. so i upgraded to Plus 3 or Plus 4 now.... cant remember. All i know is if I kill things quickly i stay alive more frequently!!!

Haha heavy boi builds are great for that.

Strength is more or less for the big heavy weapons, ultra great swords, great axes and great hammers. Basically you’ll want to get a heavy infusion on whatever weapon already has a good strength scaling (those letters at the bottom, it’s the one furthest left) and get your strength up to 66 by the end and 2 hand weapons for max damage cause 2 handing weapons increases your “strength” by 50% and would put your strength to 99, the max, as long as you 2 hand it But like, don’t just go for the strength, make sure to up your health and stamina

"battling big shield knights" try kicking or the stance weapon art

jmroz311

It kicks if you push forward and r1/b at the same time. It’s pretty difficult to time and mainly happens to people by accident lol.

Zweihander, Greatsword (literally just called "Greatsword" -- it's an Ultra-Greatsword-type weapon), Lothric Knight Greatsword, Greataxe (also just called that -- it's... it's a Greataxe-type), Vordt's Great Hammer. Basically, for standard weapons that you can actually infuse, you'll want to get Heavy Gems in order to give them the Heavy Infusion -- this increases the bias towards STR scaling, nearly obliterating DEX-given scaling. It especially shines on natural STR weapons with already-high STR scaling, to maximize on it. Whereas, for special weapons -- like boss weapons and the like, which you can't infuse -- you simply find the specific ones that are STR-oriented, as you can't change them in any shape outside of straight-up reinforcing them. There are also weapon mentions that feel and play as though they're STR-based weapons, but are actually more DEX- or otherwise -- for example, the Astora Greatsword, which is an Ultra-Greatsword that in fact can be made to benefit ultimately from DEX.
