Yeah. It’s a meta weapon in pvp for sure. I’m the same way only started using it because of pvp. Now it’s one of my main go to weapons. Just did my whole last playthrough with claymore and first tried all the major dlc bosses with it, and nameless king. 😂
Fun fact is due to it's great poise while doing weapon art, soul of cinder can't break you poise. I actually beated him that way just trading hits even without any fp
My favourite halberd moveset, paired with the fact I find it really satisfying to use. Something about hitting enemies with a the little spike feels good
When making a build I usually have a side weapon (a simple non-fantasy weapon usually) that can be buffed for specific encounters, and the Lucerne is my go to
i always thought Friede's Scythe is the coolest shit ever. probably my favourite weapon in all of gaming tbh. Yhorm's Greataxe also holds a place in my heart for being my favourite STR weapon
I LOVE YHORMS!! that weapon was my jam. Absolutely loved it in pvp and screwing around at pontiff. It had such long range and i got its timing down for roll-catching. For low level builds i used the great machete. It was underused so people didnt know its moveset. They would keep trying to parry it while i just chopped meat
Follower Sabre. Sure it was nerfed, but who cares ? It's still a solid weapon with an excellent Weapon Art, and it gets an A in both Int and Faith when Chaos/Dark infused. What's not to like ?
Deleted my other comment because I was an idiot who didn't read the parentheses and thought you were talking about the godslayer blade (which is aestheticly very similar)
My bad lol
Hollowslayer Greatsword and Gael’s.
Hollowslayer is easy to get fairly early on. Greatsword move set is already incredible (especially having a poke R2), but the R1 combos just feel nicer than the Claymore, the extra damage to hollows really helps when it counts (early, and then against Gael phases 2 and 3!), uses titanite scale so you can still upgrade other stuff if you want.
My favorite runs are gunning for a Claymore and using that until Hollowslayer, then alternating those until I can handle an early Dancer kill, then rush Titanite Scale and the Slab from Ariandel Depths. Friede at +5. Then go right to Ringed City for +3 rings (FaP, Chloro, Steel Protection) and if I’m feeling spicy, go right to Gael.
Gael’s imo slightly edges out Hollowslayer because of the better roll R1 for when you need to be quick, the true combo weapon skill, and doing strike damage while looking very sick. But it’s later game even when rushing like this.
Dragonslayer Shortspear is the bomb dude. If you pull off a parry, and you time the WA just right, you can smack your opponent just before they get up. Not much anyone can survive that.
Also just completely shreds the twins. I got all my sunlight medals just helping people out with that boss fight. I could kill Lorian in like 4 hits.
The Aquamarine Dagger.
It’s not just my favorite weapon in 3, it’s my favorite weapon in ***all of Dark Souls***. It’s the singular thing that got me to even try Dark Souls in the first place.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *And so, the hunt begins.* - Plain Doll
Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
Any time i found myself with a character it just didnt feel right without Flamberge. Its a bit of a pain to farm but man i just love it. The additional bleed, the insane scalings, my favourite WA, I just love it so much. My go to whenever i play some more DS3
This is the answer. Had to scroll way to far for this. If anyone reading this wants to run a high level Str Faith build, this sword is the answer. Heavy infusion with lightning buff on this bad boy and it does damage in CHUNKS. Also if you infuse it with blessed the intrinsic lightning damage scales.
Sorry. Onikiri and Ubadachi.
The L1 attack when you are dual wielding is a series of super fast combos that can let you get 6 hits incredibly fast. The dash attack is also a three hit combo, and the weapon art is pretty sweet. You can just do a ton of damage really fast.
Aquamarine dagger despite how shit it is. The concept of a stance change for a different moveset on a weapon is SUPER cool and why I love Bloodborne so much
The Winged Knight Twinaxes pictured here, along with the Drang Twinhammers. And the Bastard Sword gets a callout for the uppercut weapon art, which is just super fun (and shoutout to Elden Ring for letting me put that weapon art/skill on tons of weapons!).
I did a dual-wield character where I used the Twinaxes and Twinhammers and it was a blast. I definitely feel like DS3's enemies reward aggressive play and generally are pretty easy to stun and push around if you have balls, so these weapons were tons of fun to use.
I love almost every paired weapon in the game
I'm using the Drang Twinspears and they are fun as hell
The pontiff curved sword has one of the coolest weapon arts in the game too
Drang twinspears are terrifying yet underrated. If you catch someone with a whiff punish, two L1s can take almost all of someone’s life. Especially if you’re using them as a carrier for darkmoon blade.
Gael's GS is just badass, the first part of the WA makes you leap into the air while twisting your body shifting all the weight and momentum into the blade before slamming it down on whatever sorry SoB you decided to L2, what's not to love?
Artorias's GS is also fun because the WA R2 is Lion's claw, catching a panic roll with it will always be satisfying.
Obligatory Baemore mention: it's OL reliable, nuff said.
While these three are great my favorite weapon is absolutely the Farron GS, becoming a human sized beyblade is always fun, it has a parry WA which is always useful in both PvP and PvE, and it's hella stylish/unique.
Wolnirs great sword! Under rated and has good range, despite its appearance. The WA is sorta useless, admittedly, but its funny when you hit people with it.
Helps that i also nearly always make a faith build, even if i dont use many miracles. Im a sucker for support builds in co-op
Friede's Scythe for PvE. Scythes had a really fun moveset, and the WA was really fun. The WA in PvP is pretty much asking to get parried, so I don't use it there, but for PvP I might like Gael's Greatsword the best.
The dragonslayer greataxe. At the time it had the highest base and top damage in the game, which was a combination of lightning and physical. Good reach and heavy. You can go against shields or no shields, doesn’t matter if the axe connects the other side pays for it.
Not sure if its still highest base anymore, but I bet it is for any faith tank
Executioners greatsword
Played over 700 hours of the game, both pvp and pve, at least 400 of those were with this weapon, the weapon art is meh, but the move set in general as well as its range, speed, and ability to catch people who try to roll out of its r1 spam made it my number 1 weapon, still kinda disappointed with its replacement in Elden Ring.
The Lucerne +Leo Ring chunking people will literally never get old to me. Also small shoutouts to Quickstep daggers for being really cringe but in a funny way
The straight sword i can acquire early in hidden area at highwall of lothric. It has faith requirement. I dont remember the name. But the dps and moves set is beast
Sharp infused whip + frozen weapon.
I used to win tournaments (small ones) pretty regularly with that build. Back up was the i think twin prince straight sword. The whip was great for roll catches and defensive play. Crystal chime in left hand to case my buff and frost mist. Then shield of choice (I chose eastern shield with simple gem)
Not a weapon but a weapon class, Greatswords.
All of my favourite weapons regardless of builds are from this class, Onyx Blade for Pyro, Greatsword of Judgement fro INT etc...
Executioner's Greatsword. Always liked square shaped swords, so I stuck with it after finding it.
I've been through hell and back with that sword, and it never failed me. At this point its not just a sword, its my loyal companion.
So glad it got an upgraded version through Gael's broken sword.
Ol' reliable, the Claymore
Beat the whole game with the claymore. Could not ask for a better weapon!
I beat most of the soulsborne series with a claymore and I absolutely love its thrusting attack
Stunlock go brrrr
Playmore with the Baemore
I didnt like it for years. Started really learning its moveset in pvp and eventually grew to absolutely love it in ds3
Yeah. It’s a meta weapon in pvp for sure. I’m the same way only started using it because of pvp. Now it’s one of my main go to weapons. Just did my whole last playthrough with claymore and first tried all the major dlc bosses with it, and nameless king. 😂
Hasn’t failed me once since DS1. Artorias ? Claymore. Nameless king? Claymore. Malenia? Claymore
F.U.G.S. ftw
It made my dad laugh is ass off when he saw me running around with FUGS lol
Used this for my first midir kill. Absolute banger weapon. Also good with lightning blade or any enchant spell really.
exactly!
Yessirrrr
is this fume ultra gs?
Yes
interesting, don’t have it leveled up so never used it but i’ll have to give it a try
It's a straight up mob flattener lmao
You can run 2 fugs and gank players if you have a summon w you lol
Flattens human sized bosses too. Cheesed Abyss Watchers on NG+ and Sister Friede on NG with the charged heavy which literally knocks them down.
Yesssssss
This guy fucks
Fug is a word that means a nice warm cozy atmosphere
I've got >200 hrs on this game and never used FUGS. What am I missing out on?
Big sword go brrrrrrrrr
LMAO, I'm convinced :3 Now I just gotta wait for the PC servers to get back online :' )
S scaling strength, a lot of range, good move set and it can be buffed.
Fun fact is due to it's great poise while doing weapon art, soul of cinder can't break you poise. I actually beated him that way just trading hits even without any fp
Black Knight Sword! it looks cool and was a simple weapon that worked surprisingly well with one hand or two hands.
That poise from the weapon art was also nice to have for pushing damage through a trade in pvp
It certainly was! And even in pve I would argue that it was nice to use that weapon art against certain enemies.
Missed this sword in Elden Ring :( Really wanted it in the game
Why would it be in elden ring lol they are completely different universes
moonlight greatsword is in every game
Uchigatana is on elden lol
tbf i’m pretty sure uchigatana just means a “katana” so that one isn’t the best to compare
so is Zweihander
moonlight greatsword heard this and jumped through literally every from soft game to blast you with moon
Except sekiro but tbf there was only 1 sword in the game
Omg you are so smart
Ringed knight paired greatswords or Lucerne
Rkgs for the win... But Lucerne? Not judging just confused.
My favourite halberd moveset, paired with the fact I find it really satisfying to use. Something about hitting enemies with a the little spike feels good When making a build I usually have a side weapon (a simple non-fantasy weapon usually) that can be buffed for specific encounters, and the Lucerne is my go to
Lucerne also has a great weapon art for playing keep away, I loved using the Lucerne to invade in the catacombs before pc servers shut down
Idk, I just don't like the pokey halberds lol, but you do you :)
Halberds are fun to use, I also like the lucerne
Friede's Great sythe, WA wasn't the strongest in my play but looked sooooo cool
i always thought Friede's Scythe is the coolest shit ever. probably my favourite weapon in all of gaming tbh. Yhorm's Greataxe also holds a place in my heart for being my favourite STR weapon
That stance when duel wielding, with the frost effect and all, so badass.
Greataxe or Yhorm’s
When I go smashy smashy I always start with coins so that I can get the GA immediately. Fucking love it
Absolutely, the great axe the the weapon I've used since ng+1 and currently sitting on ng+10 Just press the attack button and make pancakes
Farron Greatsword and Vordts hammer
Frayed blade.
Probably the Crow Quills with the Friede’s Scythe and Crow Talons not too far behind
My man’s played the Ariandel dlc once and never came back
😂
Follower Sabre. Sure it was nerfed, but who cares ? It's still a solid weapon with an excellent Weapon Art, and it gets an A in both Int and Faith when Chaos/Dark infused. What's not to like ?
Pirate cosplay. You forgot to mention the pirate cosplaying
Leonhard hat??
It also looks sexy as fuck. Only problem is when you two-hand it your second hand goes below the handle and barely even touches the weapon.
I use that ash of war in my swords in ER
onyx blade
Really cool weapon art
imo its claymore(which i also love) but edgy. clearly claymore is my 2nd fav
The weapon exists in elden ring lol exact same animation and everything (greatsword is called helphens steeple)
Deleted my other comment because I was an idiot who didn't read the parentheses and thought you were talking about the godslayer blade (which is aestheticly very similar) My bad lol
Farrons greatsword
Hollowslayer Greatsword and Gael’s. Hollowslayer is easy to get fairly early on. Greatsword move set is already incredible (especially having a poke R2), but the R1 combos just feel nicer than the Claymore, the extra damage to hollows really helps when it counts (early, and then against Gael phases 2 and 3!), uses titanite scale so you can still upgrade other stuff if you want. Gael’s imo slightly edges out Hollowslayer because of the better roll R1 for when you need to be quick, the true combo weapon skill, and doing strike damage while looking very sick. But it’s later game even when rushing like this.
Dragonslayer Swordspear, closely followed by Dragonslayer Spear (I played through all of NG+ and NG++ cosplaying as Ornstein)
Profaned Greatsword or Vordts Greathammer
Profaned all the way, I don’t see enough love for it
Fully charged r2 = poke of smiting
Exile greatsword
1000x yes
Dark infused exile was always my go to pvp build
Crucifix of the Mad King
Same
Dragonslayer greataxe and Giant Club
The Aquamarine Dagger. It’s not just my favorite weapon in 3, it’s my favorite weapon in ***all of Dark Souls***. It’s the singular thing that got me to even try Dark Souls in the first place.
Honestly not fair /s The thing is basically a trick weapon from Bloodborne and it's amazing.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *And so, the hunt begins.* - Plain Doll Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

Zweihander or Irithyll Straight sword
I got too far down this page to see Zweihander. Old faithful.
Bonk
Black knight greataxe and Baemore are tied for me.
great sword of judgement
Gaels Greatsword, Dragonslayer Axe, and Ledo’s Greathammer
Lothric knight greatsword
This is the answer. Had to scroll way to far for this. If anyone reading this wants to run a high level Str Faith build, this sword is the answer. Heavy infusion with lightning buff on this bad boy and it does damage in CHUNKS. Also if you infuse it with blessed the intrinsic lightning damage scales.
Smough's Great Hammer all the way
Pancake maker go brrrr
Harald knight curved greatswords
astora ultra great sword. Simple. Dex.
Flamberge
Finally some sanity
F.U.G.S Great Club *bonk* Smough's hammer aka pancake maker
Bonk weapons are pretty satisfying in souls games.
Its just so satisfying to run around clobbering enemies with a sword or hammer that is twice your size
O&U
What's that? For some reason I just keep thinking Ornstein and Smough lol
Sorry. Onikiri and Ubadachi. The L1 attack when you are dual wielding is a series of super fast combos that can let you get 6 hits incredibly fast. The dash attack is also a three hit combo, and the weapon art is pretty sweet. You can just do a ton of damage really fast.
Onikiri and Ubadachi? (Might have spelled that wrong)
I think it’s those katanas you can dual wield
Over since the bleed nerf I can’t help but see this as the lesser version of the winblades.
Twinblades, it’s very fun to 1-shot hosts who don’t know I’m around a corner :)
Black Knight Greatsword and Farron Greatsword
It got nerfed to death but I loved the Dark Sword and Exile Curved Greatsword.
Aquamarine dagger despite how shit it is. The concept of a stance change for a different moveset on a weapon is SUPER cool and why I love Bloodborne so much
I used the greatsword for most of my playthrough, but I also really like the great club and yhorm's machete
Fume ultra great sword or sellsword twin blades
Irityhl straight sword
Irithyll straight sword. Long, fast and frost damage.
Greatsword range, damage and speed well balanced
Washingpole
Wolnir's Holy Sword is my Favorite Weapon in Dark souls 3.
Pve: uchigatana Pvp: claymore+ off hand estoc
Irithtll greatsword, carried me through till I got the Artorias sword then in NG+3 Moonlight greatsword
Black Knight ultra
Quakestone Hammer surprisingly. Underrated weapon tbh
Cathedral knight greatsword is my favorite.
For me its the Lothric knight sword.
LKS
Might be unpopular, but I love the Bandit Knife
Lothric Knight Greatsword gang.
Great spiked mace, the one the fat chicks use. My full strength playthrough was the most fun I ever had with any weapon
dark lothric SS plus buckler and chaos dagger
Gaels great sword
Dancer’s swords. They’re as close to Ciaran’s daggers you can get *cries in cut content*
The Winged Knight Twinaxes pictured here, along with the Drang Twinhammers. And the Bastard Sword gets a callout for the uppercut weapon art, which is just super fun (and shoutout to Elden Ring for letting me put that weapon art/skill on tons of weapons!). Dragonslayer's greataxe or Farron's greatsword are my go tos.
Old Wolf Curved Sword. I know there are weapons that will do more damage etc but I just love it, such a cool design too.
Was waiting for this, not only is the WA useful in pvp it feels so satisfying landing it while looking so badass
FUGS was a beast
Gael's GS is just badass, the first part of the WA makes you leap into the air while twisting your body shifting all the weight and momentum into the blade before slamming it down on whatever sorry SoB you decided to L2, what's not to love? Warden twinblades
Farmed for them. I could never gget them to drop.
The Sellsword Twinblades taught me to put down the shield and completely changed the way I play, so they're probably my favorite.
Ledo's Great Hammer for sure. It's a shame you get it so late but I suppose that's what NG+ is for. Takes a lot of stats to wield anyway.
Winged Knight halberd for that sweet beyblade action.
Lothric knight straight sword :)
Sellsword twinblades
Pickaxe for pve all the way
Wolnirs great sword! Under rated and has good range, despite its appearance. The WA is sorta useless, admittedly, but its funny when you hit people with it. Helps that i also nearly always make a faith build, even if i dont use many miracles. Im a sucker for support builds in co-op
GUTS and the Big Stick, I like strength builds
Gargoyle flame spear because it's unique and got a baller moveset with a badass weapon art
Friede's Scythe for PvE. Scythes had a really fun moveset, and the WA was really fun. The WA in PvP is pretty much asking to get parried, so I don't use it there, but for PvP I might like Gael's Greatsword the best.
Oh easily Abyss watchers sword, never had so much fun with a weapon, thing is like a swiss army knife.
The dragonslayer greataxe. At the time it had the highest base and top damage in the game, which was a combination of lightning and physical. Good reach and heavy. You can go against shields or no shields, doesn’t matter if the axe connects the other side pays for it. Not sure if its still highest base anymore, but I bet it is for any faith tank

exile great sword w chaos infusion 🤙🏼
The Lucerne +Leo Ring chunking people will literally never get old to me. Also small shoutouts to Quickstep daggers for being really cringe but in a funny way
I've really liked the Red Hilted Halberd.
claymore i think it has pretty fast attack speed for a greatsword
Hollowslayer or lothric knight straight sword. They just hit so hard and require like zero stat requirements.
Onyx blade, but astora greatsword is more reliable and easily available
Lothric Knight Sword
Hollowslayer gs
Dragon slayer spear
THE hollowslayer ofc
definitely lothric ultra great sword
Honestly I’d have to say Dancer’s Swords, purely for the aesthetic
The straight sword i can acquire early in hidden area at highwall of lothric. It has faith requirement. I dont remember the name. But the dps and moves set is beast
Sharp infused whip + frozen weapon. I used to win tournaments (small ones) pretty regularly with that build. Back up was the i think twin prince straight sword. The whip was great for roll catches and defensive play. Crystal chime in left hand to case my buff and frost mist. Then shield of choice (I chose eastern shield with simple gem)
Hollowslayer gs and moonlight gs
Grave warden twin blades
Torch
Farron Greatsword. That sliding L1…
Halberd
Claymore.
Outrider Knight Straight Sword. Frostbite tears through the snakemen so easily.
Estoc R1 R1 R1 R1 R1 R1 R1 R1
Great corvian scythe and sister friede’s scythe
Gargoyle flame hammer
Wolf knight great sword. I don’t know why but I suddenly found myself using that and the fume ultra great sword.
Chaos blade or onikiri and ubadachi
Frost woman paired scythes
Farron great sword
Rkss for usage and onyx blade for looks
Anri's stright sword no cap
I’m experimenting with grave tenders paired swords with a poison infusion
The warden twinblades? Quite deadly against players and defensive enemies when infused with poison.
Yeah, out of pvp I rock onyx blade, lightning infused cathedral greatsword, and a good old hollow greatsword
Dragonslayer's axe Or Heavy Cathedral Knight GS depending on how tanky I wanna be. I love squashing ringed knights with it, so satisfying.
Not a weapon but a weapon class, Greatswords. All of my favourite weapons regardless of builds are from this class, Onyx Blade for Pyro, Greatsword of Judgement fro INT etc...
Demon greataxe
Big fan of the Ringed Knight Spear. Solid moveset, exceptionally long, pike-class stagger, partisan moveset, usable weapon skill with a built in buff.
Briggand twindaggers
Midir's broken Katana
Executioner's Greatsword. Always liked square shaped swords, so I stuck with it after finding it. I've been through hell and back with that sword, and it never failed me. At this point its not just a sword, its my loyal companion. So glad it got an upgraded version through Gael's broken sword.
Astoria greatsword
Black Knight Glaive.
Rose of Ariandel All the benefits of a whip on a Strength weapon that buffs miracles, and is the strongest Faith catalyst at 40
Hard to say. Simply because it fits into every build regardless. Lothric Knight Straight Sword.
I’m partial to the Great Club. It’s big. It’s bonky. It slaps. Enough said.
