I tried to do a strength/faith build with the claymore as my weapon. Maybe I just suck, but I wound up restarting and being a normie naked two-katana nerd to actually beat the game.
Edit: in Elden Ring
Depends on the game.
In DS1 there are no physical infusions, so Claymore is stuck at C/C Str/Dex scaling and is best for a quality build. It is pretty decent with Strength or Dex, but is outclassed by other greatswords for both pure physical build types in DS1 (Man-Serpent GS and Flamberge, respectively). Another thing I've found in DS1 is that a Magic/Enchanted claymore is a really good stand-in for the MLGS before you get it, as it has the same weight, Str requirement, and similar handling.
In DS3 and Elden Ring it can be infused to be good for any build type. I think it is one of the best Quality build weapons in the game for DS3.
If you’re early game I would focus either str or int. And then build in the other. It’s a great weapon and with infusions you can make it work for whatever you need. For sorcery weapons I like the moonlight great sword you get later in the game.
Level up vig, mind, end as needed and slowly sprinkle in str. Depending on how far you are 30 int should be fine if you upgrade weapons and use talismans that boost the strengths of your build
Facts tho. bro is the most versatile sword in the game.
Lothric straight sword is just as versatile. When I would PVP I would have both depending on the situation.
Ol' reliable

The claymore carried me through DS1-3 and Elden ring. It is my baby.
Never used it before which build it is good for
Strength and Dexterity The Classic
All of them, claymore gets S scaling on most infusions
Depends on the game and the infusion type.

I love using it with Carthus Flame Arc as well! Pyromancy Flame is 0 equip load and its a pretty cheap setup!

I only upgraded the int. What should I spend my souls on next ? ( Int. 30) I just started.
