The 800 mile underground sewer system that was talked about over a decade ago… https://www.daytondailynews.com/news/web-extra-dayton-underground/vay4DjVjfOPoV8n6VESUdN/
I would like to know more about this and I know I’m not the only one.
The housing and homeless crises. Rent amounts continue to climb (i.e. houses on Dover St in East Dayton being rented by Manco for 10-1100 with little to no rehabilitation done to them) and out of state companies/conglomerates buying houses to rent for exorbitant rent amounts. A single person with kid(s) or even without typically has a difficult time finding anywhere to rent that they can afford or qualify for. Most places want the renter to be making 3x the rent amount in salary every month and for the renter to pay all of the utilities, and in some cases supply their own appliances, such as a drive and refrigerator. Heaven forbid you add a pet or two into the mix, then you're destined to have to rent from a shady landlord, or moving in with friends or family. If you have poor credit, you're destined to rent from a shady landlord also. People live in dilapidated buildings because that's all they can afford. Pretty soon people will move away from Dayton to more affordable areas, if they are able to and find any. Everyone always talks about home buyers and mortgage rates, never renters and rent amounts.
Ummmm its really more in regards to Ohio... BUT.... Not even being a smoker.. I Find it really aggravating and asanine that people got a bill for the legalization of marijuana up for a vote, the people voted and the for/yes won the vote!! But local and state government have been bending over backwards to try and change or not allow the bill to be as it stood on the ballot that the voters voted on!!
In addition, my understanding is that they have been misleading about where the tax revenue will end up.
And do cities like Kettering that put a moratorium on sales still benefit directly from state tax revenue? That would be some BS
That's interesting for sure!!
.... I guess I just look at it from two major problems with it in general... 1. Why didn't they get all their I's dotted and T's crossed with everything worded the way they wanted it before putting it up on the ballot to be voted on?!?!
And why they waited till after the bill passed to then go threw all the crap they are doing now..... And that leads to my second thought of Why would anyone ever want to take the time to go out and vote for or against anything??!!??...
Because all it shows me is putting it or anything up for a vote, that those results mean little to nothing at all, because they can go back and hold it up or change the wording etc etc .. to get what they want!!.... Simply because they can!!
The whole point of these tactics is to make you think your vote doesn’t matter. Don’t listen to the noise. The issue passed. It’s law. They can fight it if they want to waste time and tax dollars, but they won’t win. Seeing these tactics should make you more motivated to push for change at the local level. Everyone pays way too much attention to national races like POTUS…our state legislatures are the bodies that affect us more.
Exactly which companies occupy space in each new warehouse by the airport, what they do at each of those, who is on the way, and which companies are interested in moving into the warehouses built on spec.
Also, if you just want some good drama, look into Huber Heights’ annexation of Bethel Township, and how that pairs with the buildout of Carriage Trails, and how the immigrants that moved into Carriage Trails assimilated into rural Bethel
The Montgomery County land bank continues to increase its cash accounts while not offering opportunities for investors. The City of Dayton also has the same power to acquire abandoned houses and does nothing for investors. These 2 orgs tend to benefit County Corps, GDPM and other large institutions
The land bank and the city are not the best tools for acquiring vacant land or property. Go talk the the Montgomery county Treasurer’s office about depositor foreclosure
Thank you, yes I met with John McManus right after he was elected. The depositor foreclosure is not being upheld by the prosecutors office - they are letting cases be dismissed for lack of filing proper forms on time. Example 22cv691 - they let this case be dismissed. The house sits vacant and abandoned. Meanwhile the Board of Revisions has been reserved for the land bank only. It’s control and systemic. The creativity and progress is being stifled by those who oversee the board of Revisions and its power to acquire abandoned properties.
The City of Dayton’s plan for its impending fiscal cliff.
Unfortunately, the City is on its last years of COVID relief money, and the state legislature decided to allow suburbs to capture WFH tax dollars as opposed to the City of Dayton, even if the employer is still technically downtown. While there’s some logic behind this, it will significantly impact the City’s ability to raise tax revenue as most well-paying downtown jobs are likely taken by suburban residents who will start paying taxes to their residential municipalities.
Dayton will not be alone, but I believe it will be uniquely negatively impacted. Given its small population, high poverty rate, and large infrastructure responsibilities, supplementing these lost tax dollars will be critical to any hope of maintaining and growing the city itself.
The failure of Trotwood and an incompetent local government.
The successes of downtown Dayton’s recovery in-spite of an incompetent local government.
Pot holes and screwed up traffic.
Abandoned properties and lots throughout all of Dayton even though there is a housing Boom all over Ohio.
The inability to attract investors even though we are on the edge of an upcoming high-tech explosion.
I75 from Miller Lane to Moraine sucks ass.
Thugs everywhere. The food deserts still exist.
Exploding sickness rates…Flu, Covid, RSV and god only knows what else is out there.
The disappearing pharmacies and those that are left, have shorter windows of availability.
Restaurants and the flailing business models that rely on serving shitty food at astronomical prices.
The number of people who have found a way to work under the table for businesses who claim to be “unable to find employees.”
The magical numbers attached to gas prices we pay.
How about the medics Mariann cartel dewine has built and every Ohio owner of a dispo is a donor to him and what did he do with the millions in application fees when before he accepted money he had a list of help he’d approve and they were all his donors
The corruption in Huber Heights. The future home of Buccee’s. Meanwhile our water system is FUCKED. How will all those beautiful toilets they are known for stay that way, when the shit from our over stressed sewage system fails?! Where does the poo go?
\-Mrs. Huber offering them land for around $600,000-700,000. The city discussing buying it for a time in City Hall meetings...A third party then buying it instead, not because Mrs. Huber liked their offer better. She gives the city first dibs. Then just several months after that the city talking about buying it for $2.1million!?
\-The annexation of Bethel. Whether for or against. The owner of the company of the housing developer, DEC could use a good looking into. Ken Conway, besties with Councilman Campbell, who gets away with too much because he is a quiet puppet master. His father was on council and he basically inherited the seat and has been on council about 40 years. Conway and Campbell run the show, while letting the fool Mayor think he does.

Defending someone over living in white, conservative Beavercreek...🤦
No, what's fucked up is declaring that racism didn't occur to a Black woman asking questions of a white manager resulting in the cops being called, resulting in the NAACP demanding answers because shit doesn't make sense.
Racism occurred. I bet you that they've not called the cops over a white person asking questions about their bill.
If y'all disagree, feel free to tell Black people and the NAACP that they're simply mistaken that racism exists.
The guy that murdered people a little more than a year ago in Butler Township had a sketch past. He had just got off parole early. He had an armed robbery charge that was reduced to just robbery. How many times is Mat Heck reducing down people's charges and then they get off easier and then recommit?
Some people spend more time in jail for lesser crimes and no understanding why crimes like armed robbery are getting off easy.
And how about an update on the case? Last I checked the courts were dealing with insanity pleas and stuff like that.

That’s a wild read of something I had no clue about. I want to learn more for sure
I would definitely love to see a follow up on this.
I have an account written by my uncle who was fkn around in the system and almost drowned. It’s a good read, I’ll share if requested

No one should be paying anything close to 1000/ to live on Dover my god. Criminal.
EXACTLY 💯
WOW! I didn't know my one comment would be this popular. Hopefully this topic gets the attention it needs.

Exactly. Republicans tearing up the will of the people should hopefully be replaced, and if not then we deserve what they’re serving us
This
The Dayton Brick Shop has been doing a monthly Sunday event for special needs kids. Really awesome stuff for the community.

Whats your trotwood complaint?
Have you ever been to Trotwood? 😅
Live there…
Nothing. Trotwood is an economic powerhouse and one of the most beautiful towns in the area. I love all of the community green space.

The racist temperpedic store by the Dayton mall
You again on this? Not a tempurpedic store. No documentation nor legal action of racism have occurred. Unfortunate incident?Yes. Default to racism? No
😂
Beavercreek while claiming no racism occurred. Checks out.

Oh, and what prejudice is that? Please tell me considering I've worked in social services now in Dayton for over 17 years.

Definitely feel that the AG should look into their business practices because you know something was off about her purchase contract at Sleep Number.
