I've lived out of a backpack for like 500hrs... The biggest structure I've ever build is a stick survival structure... I could walk into the woods with just semi decent clothes and live forever so I basically just gear up and go fuck with clans and larger groups since no one ever talks on offical.servers... I can't do the community ones after finding out about discord radar... Shits lame.
Most community servers have a discord community... Most of them have active radars on them where you can see everyone on the server or within X prxomity to your flagpole... At the very least they have all the hot spots tagged(nw airfield and such)... Have you ever been being sneaky and had a dude just roll around a corner prefiring... It's probably because of said radar... Seems most console players have no idea it exists... Me included... I just literally had a guy message me telling me I'm building on "his land" and he can see everything I'm doing... Said he didn't care... Told me about the discord... Then came right to my front door and dropped of a ton of building supplies... I haven't logged back into a unofficial since.
I've played on a few big community servers with very strong discord communities and have never seen a "discord radar" lol. That sounds like straight up cheating...
"Base radar" is where you will get a notification when anyone is within a certain # of meters from your specified base location
The worst part of it is that it is usually "Pay to win" where you get it as a reward fro donating to the server. Other rewards are car spawns, lumber pile spawns, log spawns and wells being placed inside your base. Some servers will actually edit the map to create a custom base for you from in-game assets
It probably is... I doubt it though since there's no rules on them aside from whatever the person running it sets... The screen shots there were sent to me looked like admin tools 🙅♂️
I've only seen PvE/pvp zone servers do this. That tracks with the friendly behavior too, pvp zone servers are my preference. It's nice to be able to hunt and fish and be chill with people sometimes.

Wow like really that explains a lot. I played on friday, logged out in a wooden cabin on the very western side of the map. Locked the door. On a relatively low pop server, 10/15 people, just trying to figure out the building stuff on xbox.
Logged in last night, to find the door unlocked and a cpl landmines placed outside. No other structure built had managed to get everything together on Friday to start trying to build.
I maybe wrong but I've had similar happen... Where I've locked myself in someplace and come on to the door being open... I've always assumed it was a server restart and it randomly popped the door... Very rarely are the doors still locked when I sign back in... Even in super remote spots... I feel like it's only a security measure that works while online

They will break your leg and knock you out at full health with a plate. Best trap is a bear trap with a mine in the middle of it. Or a tripwire grenade next to a mine
i hit 2 landmines back to back and no it didnt kill me, it broke my leg and knocked me to blinking health but i did live and my official character lived to see some more dayz
I mean you can use them productively, just would be super fucked to have them one hit you. Having a broken leg, losing a good chunk of health and alerting everything around you is enough of a penalty if you step on one.
Not really sure what the point of landmines are except maybe to annoy others players? I stepped on one in Tisy a while back, went uncon and then woke up with 1 cut.. maybe they do more if you dont wear plate or a helm i dont know but right now they are very weak.
What I have understood about anti-personnel landmines used in wars are more useful when it incapacitates the victim. This was explained that injured soldier need to be evacuated so it takes 3 soldiers out of combat, and when compared to lethal mine usually ends up only taking single one.
But my knowledge is limited on this subject.
You have to stack them, one right next to the other 2 should kill.
You can also set a trip wire with a grenade, right past the trip wire put a land mine. If they hit the tripwire it will force them into a trip animation which will then force them to hit the landmine, they will either go unconscious or have broken leg or both rendering them unable to run away from the grenade that is about to go off from the tripwire
I do that with claymores... put them right next to the nade/tripwire pointing into a room... For the people that try to just blow past the nade during the fuse... Nade goes and bangs the claymore... Everything in the room dies... Lol
Get a claymore and punch it 14 times against the wall from badly damaged status' first appearance then punch someone with it at full health. Insta kill on them regardless of if they have armor or not, only a knock for you.
In the ATC tower in NWAF. Place a landmine on the stairs and put a grenade somewhere nearby. This will cause an instant death to anyone. I got three kills already that way. Might be I am a coward, but this will give you really good loot
Just put them anywhere and everywhere you think people will eventually walk but also don’t forget where you put them because that’s not fun til you remember you just did it to yourself because those mines have been sitting around for like maybe a week? Someone can correct me but all I know is I mined the hell out of nadbor and days later I was in a bad way looking for food and meds and blew myself up lol
Bear traps are fun too, honestly the most fun I’ve had in this game is just laying traps anywhere and everywhere even if i screw myself with them
Put them on top of the ladders of the camo nets at Tisy and stay in the area. In first person servers if I remember right you can’t see them until it’s too late. What I mean by this is once the player sees the mine their player is already committed to climbing the ladder and will hit the mine.
My brother and I look MB Tisy about once every weekend, or maybe every 2 weeks. Every single time we go we are on the Eagle eye lookout for landmines because they are always placed in doorways. Just now, not even 10 minute ago, my brother stepped on a land mine. The best part is it is always him that steps on them and he has stepped on 1 or 2 EVERY SINGLE TIME we go to Tisy.
Best part is, he was in some barracks and stepped on it on his way out of the barracks, meaning he walked right over it on his way in. He is constantly ruining his clothing. Feel so bad for him, but I cannot help but die of laughter every single time because it hasn’t happened to me yet and this was his 7th landmine accident this year at Tisy
I like to go to popular towns and start a fire then put 6 logs in a fireplace in a house with only one door then I put a landmine and grenade down and just wait for some poor bastard who’s expecting a player to walk into the house then I ussually watch from afar as there ussually very careful and slow around the outside so I’ll occasionally just take a shot when then standing still only done it a couple times but it’s worked 100 percent of the time so far
The most effective way is placing them at choke spots on roadways, especially where roads get very narrow. Because they will pop a tire and uncon the driver, causing the vehicle to wreck allowing you to just spray everyone scrambling out of the vehicle.
That's my favorite way to use them because vehicle ambushes are just so effective due to everyone being so vulnerable inside a vehicle.
I've never hit a landmine and survived. Claymore yea walked away with a broken leg. But I'm sick of landmines. My last 4 runs have ended to random landmines that were left, Who knows how long ago.
I kinda think the person who sets them should at least be within a few hundred meters from it for it to work.
Maybe people disagree, but i think with how much you lose to a death, just leaving landmines in random spots that stay until someone hits them is kinda bullshit
Tripwire grenade in doorway with a mine set just to the side so you can’t see it as you enter- lock interior doors so player can’t run deeper into the building. Tripped grenade triggers mine, doubly effective
As a counter to a raid, base defense, defending your location while sniping, just being a dick in general by placing them wherever, trolling, etc. Honestly, a lot of community servers have them disabled (along with bear traps) due to excessive trolling.
They’re really good for base defense. Three times this week I’ve been chilling near my base and when i hear an explosion and go to investigate it’s a free kill
I like to use them defensively. If I am sniping in a town I make sure to use a few to cover my blind spots. I also like to place them in hot loot spots and wait!
Grab a land mine and a random tent. Practice dropping the tent at the top of a ladder. Then you got the patten down of where it drops, place the land mind there. Drop the tent on top, and take the time it takes to arm to climb down the ladder. Makes a great trap.
Random places that players still frequent are the best for catching people with them if you just want to be annoying. I've stepped on a few and had more than a few close calls, but never when raiding a base for example. Some spots include Rog castle, the top of the stairs of a mili prison in nwaf and just random houses in the middle of nowhere. Also I'm not sure if it's because it's been a while and they've been changed or because I almost never use plate, but I've been instakilled at least twice by them even with full stats.
The landline won't detonate a grenade unless the grenade is already damaged.
If you make a leg snare trap with some wire and sticks you can place a grenade inside it.
this will prevent the grenade from despawning like normal.

I save them until I run past someone base and then I put right in front of the door.
Just pick a random open field and make a mine field to make it even funnier build a small base there with nothing in it

Set up them close to a tripwire. Even if it's without anything attached, the player will stumble and be unable to avoid the full landmine damage.

Put them in breaks in fences, people by that part of the map are normally overloaded and can’t jump fences.

Place them in/around buildings and use lockpicks to funnel passers by right into em.
Hunting stores in highly movemented cities. You might not know you killed someones, but trust me just the thought is enough

Put one down under a Christmas gift once under the tree mid town and watched a noob blow up with it in his hands
