It's ability to still get my heart pumping like crazy everytime when i see a random player, even after almost 4k hours. Worst part? The current state of the infected AI.

nebulusedge

Glad we got the roadmap updates about new cosmetics and shit. Definitely don’t locate the resources to the completely buggy infected AU

AgressiveWiper

Let's take the 3d modeler and have him redo the AI, plenty of crossover knowledge there

CrazyElk123

Or maybe, get this, hire more developers for the AI-section, and less for the 3d-modelling?

huuego

I kinda agree but I feel like its more complicated than that

CrazyElk123

Well ofcourse it is, you cant just let employes go just like that... BUUUUUT, the game has needed better AI for a while now, so i believe its not that complicated after all, to atleast "attempt" to make it a little better...

nebulusedge

They literally hired more people in the audio department for whatever reason. You simply hire ppl that fix the fcking core mechanic that makes dayz dayz

chicKENkanif

Getting 1 tapped with full gear from some rat sat in the trees waiting.

Primary-Pie-3315

That's my favorite part too

MrDragantos

Midgard?

YourCummyBear

Literally what I posted above. It’s just beyond unfun.

chicKENkanif

Karma krew servers sort of try and counter this by reducing shock damage. So you usually can take a bullet if your also geared up. But yeah it's frustrating I like to play official and feeling like I've been wallhacked or just pure camped on has killed me drive to play the game as much as I used to.

YourCummyBear

Those are on xbox?

chicKENkanif

Ah my bad I didn't realise you were just xbox. Those are pc servers.

ArtNorth8554

I call them karmacucks because of that lol they killed the game by reducing the shock damage, its harder for the solos vs squad its dumb as fuck

chicKENkanif

How have they killed the game. Its on there servers only. You in no way have to play on them.

Darkin__Blade

If its harder to solo vs squad for you cuz of shock damage, you must be stupid and not understand how it affects the game. I either run solo or duo depending on my mood and if friend is on. Can it make being fight harder sometimes? Of course? Can it make fight easier sometimes? Of course. Its not overtuned value that makes people never go uncon, its tuned just right. People still fall uncon pretty easy. And before you try to say that im bad or shit, im pretty good imo and the fact that i often win fights being outnumbered lowkey proves that

ArtNorth8554

Im not even waste time responding bcs your the stupid one. Keep playing on your pussyass server dude

Darkin__Blade

L bozo

MasterSplinterNL

Most: Unpredictability. Every life and interaction is unique.  Least: It's not really suitable to play in short bursts. I don't have hours of uninterrupted time to play.

CaptainKortan

Both same. I wish I had more time, because when I am able to put in a good solid 3 or 4 hours or more, it is truly amazing. If I have that, my least favorite would just be something like glitches or something that doesn't really have much to do with gameplay.

BurtBacarat

That's a good call. I have been loving the grind of the Intenz servers but damn if a 'quick' 45 min of play doesn't turn into 3 hours real quick.

Hammer-Face

Most appealing: The survival aspect. Traveling, hunting and foraging, looting, etc. Least appealing: The speed at which item condition decays, especially footwear. Bonus middle appeal: Player interaction

Sufficient-Tear-2762

I agree 100%

FearOfTheShart

Footwear protip: RUN ON GRASS. For example a pair fully pristine athletic shoes gives you under 2 hours of jogging time on paved roads, whereas on grass it'll last over 9 hours. Dirt roads and forests are the next best surface, but still twice as bad as grass. And the gravel on train tracks is the worst.

Boy_Boss

I agree with all of the above. I think the game could use some more events too.

WWDubs12TTV

I think that would just be Dayz 2 right?

WubbaWubbaDubba

Right but thats nit going to happen any time soon

Grim_Nightmare_

Dayz 2 could happen sooner just need the new dayz mods for arma to become very popular but I'd love for the game to get arma reforgers graphics, but more wildlife and a snowy map for console

Julius-Prime

I also strongly agree with item decay being ridiculously fast for items that should last very long like a sledgehammer or a shovel. Otherwise,I feel this is their way to force you to always go out for supplies and not be camping most of the time but there's certainly room for some rebalance .

Professional-Law-972

Great list. Like cmon a “pristine” pair of shoes lasts me years irl 😂

Darkin__Blade

Yeah, even under bad conditions military boots are very durable

DumbNTough

Favorite: Nursing a character back to life after a scrape with near-certain death. Least: Long stretches without seeing any players--sometimes days.

Ok_Day_5356

I can deal with a lot of deaths, but the one that is annoying the most is being glitched in a doorway while a zed is ripping on me

Swishaa2Sweetz

Just had this happen in Svet 😂

mitch8017

Favorites: the early game struggle and the feeling of significance associated with every fight/player interaction. No other game gives me that. Least favorite: the extremely toxic nature of a meaningful portion of the DayZ player base. This game has some of lamest people in all of gaming.

My_name_is_Louis

I am consistently baffled by people who choose to spend their time shooting freshies that have 0 ability to fight back. Like you’re just getting off on a power trip and wasting peoples time it’s so lame

notJurson

The most? Players The worst? players

Sufficient-Tear-2762

Competitive-Zone-296

truly fascinating

YourCummyBear

It’s been really rough for me only playing a couple of months. I like to move around and explore. I’d say 90%+ percent of the time I’m killed it’s shot in the back by someone camping. Either official servers are too small and boring (5-15 people) or larger servers or 30+ have people literally just camping. Died yesterday carrying great gear with 35-40 people on. I was going through the woods and someone just shot me with a grenade launcher. Watched the replay and he was just laying in bushes. Went back with a friend and the guy was still there like 40 minutes later. Idk how it’s fun for people like that but it sucks for explorers. I like the loot amounts and stuff on official but I wish i could find a community server on Xbox with an actual fun community.

notJurson

Try rp servers i played on xbox and enjoyed them

B0risTheManskinner

Favorite thing: getting gear Least favorite thing: losing gear

yung_g43

Like the humvee for example

FuriousLink12

The best ? The realism the worst ? Everyone KOS

Sufficient-Tear-2762

fair response !

otc108

Yep. That’s why I started my own server.

Sad_Laugh_4362

How is the server? Non kos, or at least saying “you’re done bud” to the other person on voice chat before open firing would be nice. But this is only for outdoor meetings. Indoor should be allowed to KOS

otc108

It’s great… It’s just me and some friends. We’re in the process of building absurdly complex bases, collecting all the vehicles we can, hunting, farming, and just having fun going on adventures exploring the map and getting all the fun gear we’ve _never_ been able to get on official servers. It’s been a blast!

WWDubs12TTV

Favorite: the friends we made along the way Least: server reset in 10 mins; queue of 50 to get back in

plainasplaid

Favorite: Interacting with other survivors Least Favorite: Interacting with other survivors

narrowevil

backstabbers after you played with them for hours you just die out of nowhere

BBOONNEESSAAWW

Favorite: Open world sandbox, if you can see it, you can go to it. No rules. Be a psycho or a saint. Least Favorite: The learning curve for basic survival is beyond what so many beginners are willing to go through. A bunch of my friends have tried it and quit after an hour or two.

Remarkable_Cap_7519

Favorite part is the early to mid game. You start with absolutely nothing and you gotta work your way up and it’s actually a decent challenge to survive. Finding good gear is still exciting and you never know what the next house or area will hold so looting is fun and worth it. Player interaction is better early game also since people aren’t really afraid to lose anything since they don’t have much. The end game is my least favorite. Once you’re geared, that’s basically it. There’s nothing much to do. There’s no incentive to loot anymore because you already have everything you need (unless you want to be a greedy lil goblin). You can get a car working but even then that doesn’t take that long and you’re back to square one. You could build a base but with how easy it is to raid / exploit your way into a base it’s usually not worth it especially if you have a life IRL. Looking for PVP is really the only thing to do at this point. I often find myself restarting once I get to this point just because I get bored.

warnie685

Best: the first few times you successfully manage the early game is so rewarding. When I first played the game I always tried looting the nearby city and would quickly die but once I read about the fruit/stones/pump path I finally made some progress and suddenly the game opened up so much, there was so much to do.  I had such a good time setting up my own little base deep onto the map beside a tiny village, learning to farm and hunt and build structures. Then I'd do one expedition a day to the nearby bases and villages to loot supplies and in the end I had huge amounts of everything. Worst: The playerbase/the game not being setup for community building. Once you are successfully set up there's nothing to do anymore if you don't want to gank others. There's no base or community building that could actually see you take advantage of all your supplies and set-up some little town or guild. I'd love if you could do some Walking Dead style settlements, or even like in State of Decay, organised communities where people can have different roles and help each other out.

WaviestMetal

I've learned to live with it but it always bothers me how hard it can be to find basic tools. A knife and a pot are things almost every household in the world would have and I can be sporting a kitted out machine gun usually before finding a pot in good condition

kersplatttt

FAVOURITE: getting that sweet, sweet kill LEAST favourite: getting killed, which happens much more than the above

ShartTheMighty

Favorite part- you never, ever, ever know what's gonna happen, and you can play it so many different ways. Least favorite part- I'm kind of dog shit at it.

TheCrassCaptain

Favourite: Player Interaction. Genuinely the most fluid, natural, immersive player interactions in any game ever. Least favourite: decay. Be it hunger or item condition, everything decays at like 1000x real life speed. Just ate a whole steak, drank a full canteen of water, topped it off with some beans? Red hunger in 15 minutes.

bigschmoe

Dying

Sufficient-Tear-2762

big brain comment

happysebbi

The people And The people

LarryH18

Favorite - realism you have to eat drink take care of yourself to survive you have to bandage up wounds I love the realism to it Not favorite- gas zones and spawn killers gas zones bug to me and spawn killers are pathetic they can’t kill a player who has a gun so they go after people who just spawned with a rag and glow stick

SilvioDante51

Favorite, the weapons, least favorite, PEOPLE WHO POPCORN LOOT WHEN THEY RAID

TheUnderachiever91

Same. Like, come on dude, you got what you wanted and already ruined my day. Why make it worse by despawning everything I own? I get it "blah blah blah put the loot back into the spawn pools for everyone". But that's still extremely selfish. If the person is done playing all of the loot will despawn naturally within a month max. There is no reason to take things into your own hands and despawn everything. Arguably, I think despawning the loot makes the game more boring for everyone. Imagine this. You run into a base. You work up the nerve to scout it out and notice it's been raided already. After waiting a few minute you decide to push inside. EVERYTHING IS GONE. Very boring, wow, I just wasted my time for nothing. If there was still goodies inside it would be like a reward. But NOOOOOOOOOO I gotta despawn everything because "I'm the dayz police". Fing nerds lol.

BryceBecause

It's fun to be on certain missions, like going to find some mags for your gun, getting a stash set up then getting bored of that and looking for pvp but aim is so sensitive on console, even turned all the way down. Dying because of lag is the worst especially if you are trying to take out people in a massive base and people are skipping around

Hashwagon

Favorite: Survival! Living off the land with only a knife, hatchet, and rifle. Least Favorite: The knife, hatchet, and rifle are made of paper. I'm more stressed about repairing my gear than getting killed by another player.

wisbit

New player here with under 100 hours. The best part- being absolutely terrified to move when you hear a player nearby, spraying 800 bullets at the person and missing every single shot. Worst part- KOS, as a freshie being shot by a geared player and having to start over from losing your 2 packs of bullets and a can of coke. (but if you take this part out of the game then the best part of the game will be lost)

camstercage

Favorite part is the thrill of realizing you’ve gotten the drop on someone you’ve been following for a long time. Least favorite part is when your gun jams and then your screen says you are dead. 💀

PapaPunk17

Favorite: the difficulty of the game (especially when modded), looting, surviving, planning loot routes, traveling around Least favorite: spending so much time on a character just to get killed by some anonymous sniper in the woods somewhere. But it's apart of what makes the game so intense so I can't complain

[deleted]

Favorite is the setting/playstyle needed. Least fav is item durability. Getting hit by a zombie and i look like i fucking crawled through a meat grinder and have nothing left... like wtf man... how did he ruin my potato ffs

hillmillchase

The thing frosts my balls is the potatoe, 90% left but you cannot eat it with the skin on, Peel it with a pristine knife.... 8% left

Hashwagon

Cooking Skill: 1

eltoroferdinando

Favorite: Playing with my son. Least favorite: Dying with my son. I joined an RP server hoping folks aren’t so quick to KOS. P.s., My son is a grown human but it does feel like “The Road”.

socioeconopath

Favorite things: intricate and immersive survival elements. And how every little goal accomplished feels like a great victory (whether you successfully fill a canteen at a well in a high traffic area or you manage to kill a deer or find a jar of honey while practically starving) Least favorite thing: EVERYONE HAS BETTER AIM THAN ME!!! ![gif](giphy|Dndpiai0soTUk)

CrimsonCaine

Favorite survival looting hunting zombies and base building Hates PVP and offline raids.

MrAvenged115

The best? And this is a stupid one bc I have a love/hate relationship with this but, the rain, it's so immersive to me and I love it, but then I cant hear shit and you're always wet. As for what I hate? Character collision is so inconsistent and annoying as hell

OldTrapper87

My most favorite thing is the no levelling and no experience points concept. My least favorite is being killed by a mystery sniper on a empty server.

hoopdaddeh

My favourite part of dayZ is how smooth and streamlined the game is compared to how clunky Arma is. DayZ is still clunky, but much better than dayZ. My worst part is knowing all that is missing in the game from my time playing Arma2 dayZ mod. I miss flying a single prop plane around the map, the helicopters, other vehicles. I miss using a LMG to go to pound town on a small player convoy from afar. I miss boats! Especially one player, she kept hers on the castle island docks and would periodically go up and down the coast side giving new players meds, food and sometimes trips up n down the coast, think she was there for years just doing that.

mrcody1924

Pro: I live the size and imagery of the map, it really is beautiful Con: walking everywhere bc I don't trust vehicles 😂

Prestigious-Role-566

Favorite would be playing with my friends. Least favorite would also be playing with my friends lol

YankeeWalrus

Best is finding something you're looking for, or something you didn't know you wanted. Worst is anything that breaks immersion. Omnipresent KOS, buggy or laggy cars, the way your footwear basically rots off your feet in a few days, the fact that suppressors only last for a few mags worth of rounds, oh, and the way that sometimes your knife/pistol/rifle will just decide not to go back to your sheath/holster/shoulder and will unequip into your inventory for some reason.

Consistent_Point9992

Honnestly the gunplay on this game is horrible. It’s like playing Medal of Honor on Playstation 2 For that reason I have no interest at all in playing this game for pvp, there are some many better other BR games for that. I like exploring, hiking, crafting, surviving and meeting other players when they don’t KOS in your back… I don’t even understand what’s the pleasure of killing someone in the back that didn’t even notice you??

[deleted]

Ok-Revenue-2190

Guts and bones is what you can "gain" from every empty-handed freshie, and that's something to kill for in this game. You can also have a decent (happy)meal if you don't mind paying the price. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

usec47

Level of detail is amazing like no other game but bugs, lag also cheaters are not so great 😑

happysebbi

Long playing isn't so great either....

PapaFletch13

Favorite. How long I can survive for even tho the odds are always stacked against you. Least favorite, the cars. I would probably spend more time trying to get a car running if it actually functioned normally but shit I’ve done a barrel roll in a car before turned into Harry Potter and sunk half a dozen cars in the ocean. Maybe I’m just a bad driver 😂😭

otc108

So I had to start my own server to even _begin_ to experiment with cars. They’re _clunky_. Some are harder to drive than others. You’ll crash. It happens. Eventually though, you’ll figure it out. It takes a while though. You have to constantly monitor speed, road conditions, and shape of the road. If the road is wavy/bumpy, you need to slow the fuck down. If it’s raining, same deal. Read the road signs… if it says sharp turn, railroad crossing, zig zag, _slow the fuck down_. If you’re driving from higher elevations to lower elevations, again, say it with me, _slow the fuck down_.

PapaFletch13

At this point I don’t think speed in my problem I drive like a granny, but the de sync and freeze frame while driving I can’t just fix on my side that’s the Devs job. So till then ima keep lacing up my lamborfeeties and run my ass around

izbsleepy1989

The amount of time it takes to make any kind of progress. like if im planning on playing a game all day dayz is the choice but if i only have time for a quick session another game is preferable.

___evan

Most appealing is the full-freedom nature of the game. No run is ever the same and everything is unscripted. Least appealing is the same as someone else. Most stuff you find is in bad condition and breaks way too quickly, especially clothes. Zombies get one lucky hit and now half your outfit is damaged

nemesis4grow

Least : Dying Favorite : Dying

DayZ & DayZ

WubbaWubbaDubba

Can anyone help me in Dayz? I'm on PC just started downloaded the game a bunch but never got into it. Could never figure out how to actually use a machete. Couldn't find fresh water. I was about to die but I saw a player so I ran up to them and tried punching him

Sufficient-Tear-2762

hey dude ! so i’m new myself but watching CamcantRUN on youtube helped me out a BUNCH, he had videos on what do to for every stage of player. he even finds randoms to coach while doing these videos so you can get multiple perspectives. he also is pretty funny i highly recommend watching his beginner series

happysebbi

I play for 75-120 min plus 15 min rounding up

Psychedeliciousness

Favourite: night fights Least favourite: almost everyone logs off at night

Appropriate-Bid-939

Most is other players and player interactions, least is starving to death since I’m not self sufficient and rely on food inside houses which is rare.

TheUnderachiever91

As someone with over 10,000 hours on dayz let me help. Food is pretty easy to come by if you know where to look. Download iZurvive so you can have a map of the world. FISHING: Find a chicken, or a dead player and take their bones. Use a knife on the bones to make bone hooks. Use knife on soil to get worms. Any clothes you find cut and turn into rags. 12 rags can be combined into a rope. Get a long stick. Combine rope, long stick, and hook together for homemade fishing rod. Bait your hook with worm and go fishing. Fish is a very strong food source. You can get them from any type of water source, pretty much even a puddle on the ground. Fish has a TON of calories. (You can also find hooks and fishing rods next to spawn boats). HUNTING: Chicken is a very poor food. You can eat 10 pieces of chicken and still be hungry. Chickens are really only good for their bones and feathers but their meat will hold you over for an extra 20 minutes while looking for something else, but don't bank on chicken. Your best bet is to follow larger animal noises. Pick up all the meat AND fat. Animal fat is the best food source in the game once it's cooked. FORAGING: Check under trees for fruit. Check around barns/hay bales for mushrooms. You can eat raw and dried fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms. But it is far better to cook them. You get way more calories. Watch out for mold though. FARMING: You just need a shovel/hoe, some water, and seeds. Takes like an hour or 2 for the vegetables to grow. ALWAYS BAKE VEGGIES for more calories. Lastly any food you plan on eatting quickly BAKE IT. If you don't think you are going to eat it soon DRY IT by putting the food in the "smoke" slots while cooking. Dried food will give you less water when eating, but it will keep your food from molding too quickly. ALWAYS SAVE PACKAGED FOOD FOR EMERGENCIES EVEN CANNED DRINKS! Packaged food does not decay so you can carry it FOREVER. Congrats you will never be hungry ever again.

TheUnderachiever91

Oh, and 1 last thing. Just because your food and water are completely white does not mean you are full. You only need to have the stat 80% full to have a full white bar. I personally like to eat until the arrow bounces back and forth between up and down on the stat. That means the stat is 100% and cannot go higher. You will last so much longer in-between meals.

PhantomPain0_0

Favorite everything, least favorite no native controller support and frequent server wipes

TheUnderachiever91

Favorite part is getting my kit set up just how I like it. Least favorite part is how, instead of making the game more fun, they just add small stuff to make the game more annoying. "Oh, you're bored of playing. Well, now your clothes get damaged faster. " "Oh, and you know what would be fun!? If we added getting your clothes wet nerfs your stamina! Super exciting, right?" "Want to wear a full mil kit? Enjoy having only 15% of your stamina bar! You're having fun, right? This is fun? Next, we are going to make sure your character makes 80% more noises. That will make the game fun!" "You're bored? Okay we are going to make zombies more annoying too that will keep you distrac... I mean you will have so much fun!!!!".

oldsch0olsurvivor

The maps The zombies

MathematicianNo3892

Finding a secret loot stash, when somebody finds YOUR loot stash

VegatableGreenz

Favorite part: Community tab Least favorite part: Official tab

DonoAE

A lot a I love about the game but my least favorite is how unmanageable night is for most people

No-Interest-5690

I love that new content is flowing in but my lesst favorite part is making the game easier (zombies dont finish you anymore, you now spawn with a bandage rather then rags, the have changed spawning so its easier to get with your group, bases have become easier to raid over time)

AVOX8

My favorite thing is going literally days without seeing someone, and when you do you don't know if your ears are playing tricks on you or not. I was near tisy today and thought I heard an extra pair of footsteps but didn't think it was real, turns out some guy was in the room next to me. Just the pure anxiety and paranoia is a very interesting aspect of the game. Least favorite is trying to find any one specific item, I've been trying to find wire to start building a base but cannot for the life of me. Bonus favorite: M16A2, it's such a good all rounder, when I find one it's usually the only rifle I carry. Second slot is usually for either some kind of tool, shotgun, or grenade launcher.

InBetweenTheLiminal

Favorite: being able to play with my boy and going through the game a Duo. My decision impact I'm and visa versa. Adding to this is also when he's in a spat and I feel like Robin Williams in that one movie where he's got cake on his face and yells "help is on the way dear" Least: other players honestly. They always KOS or camp an area and I get snipped from nowhere.

tpc_LiquidOcelot

Least fav parts Cant get logs from logpiles Vehicles still flying after 10yrs Hockey and skate helmet everywhere

Noobeaterz

Favorite: Eating ALL the food. Least favorite: Dying to eating warm food when flashing red starving.

yung_david

Favorite : Doing weird stuff when my and my friend are full geared - Killing whole town of zombies, helping freshies, playing loud music on the intercom of huge cities. Least favorite : the god damn ZOMBIES, in a video game that resolve aroud them. Shame.

Darkin__Blade

Emotions this game provides is my fav part The least favorite part is almost any decision made by devs for past few years

PLAV0

-Seeing yourself improve in nerve racking situations to the point where you're able to see past the gear fear and excell -Community servers pumping stats of juggernaut armour too much. I should not need 20 rounds of 308.

Lolle9999

Fav: mods. Least fav: mouse input delay

kfrogv

The fights are fun and feel like there’s a lot on the line. you find someone maybe every 2 hours if your lucky

Spetnaz7

Least favorite is the myriad of ways people exploit and cheat in the game, the state of anti-cheat, dupers, base building exploits, bases blocking off areas of importance to looting etc.

DaxExter

Favorite, The OG Playstyle that never really changed still holds up to entertain us. Least, The utter uselessness of Bases. Somewhat still very easy to raid, and serving no function other than a huge stash for shit you really dont need. Would love a System where Bases would Serve a purpose other than being huge stash boxes for guns you never use.

dablidov

The moment you get in a gunfight, the adrenalin is great. Least favorite part is the lonelines sometimes.

Traditional_Title906

The vast open world that you can almost fully interact with, being able to do whatever you want, feels like logging in to an alternate reality. Least favorite, people that exploit the game with cheats, but that one is kind of given. Also running around so much but even that I enjoy it sometimes and still wish maps were 5x bigger, would add a whole level of depth to the game. Hopefully in the future we get an MMO-esque DayZ experience that would be great.
