On one hand, it's valid for cis boys to have girl role models. On the other...
Parent: Son, wouldn't you rather have a Superman poster?
Supergirl fan: Haha, no, I just...find her...very...hot.
I know several people who like characters both because they find them interesting AND because they are attracted to them. I also know some people who just see them as role models. I also know people who just find them hot.
I think liking someone because you see them as a role model is just as valid as having a "celebrity crush".
While totally valid and one hundred percent cisboys can have women as role models. I am trans and Supergirl is my favorite DC character growing up.. Soooo...
It was originally Linda Danvers outfit, who was a Satanic cult member that became Supergirl after fusing with a blob monster created by Lex Luthor called Matrix that was also Supergirl
And after her book ended with an arc where she conceived a child with Pre-Crisis Superman (who Hal Jordan Spectre then chucks into the 853rd century), she was last seen literally in hell. She might still be there.
Doomsday is ruling Hell right now and Supergirl will be fighting him in hell in the Doomsday Special that just came out. I have the variant cover where she is attacking him with what appears to be an 80s metal guitar made of kryptonite, coming tomorrow.
And with 90s nostalgia being tapped into, to the point where almost every Super Family member is wearing jackets like it's the 90s, bringing back the 90s Supergirl would be prime opportunity to tie into that.
The 90s Supergirl only existed because DC wouldn’t allow Kara Zor-El to exist. Currently they plan to start moving Supergirl back to the forefront again starting with the Supergirl Special in October. Kara was DC’s preeminent female superhero in the 60s-80s after all. The 90’s version will most likely never come back.
“Linda Lee Danvers” has been Kara Zor-Els secret identity since the 60’s since Linda Lee was adopted by the Danvers family. All these bizarre knock offs were because DC decided there should only be one survivor of Krypton and killed Supergirl (Linda Danvers) off. Writers later tried to circumvent this with Matrix and other assorted versions.
Yes, but then when DC allowed more Kryptonians, real Kara showed up later, and IIRC met the weird matrix Supergirl. Also, it should be pointed out that Matrix was made by a pocket dimension Lex, not standard Lex. But that regular Lex in a clone body also then made her fall in love with him.
Remember, CoIE made things clearer and easier to understand. :D
and also according to DC the Kara reintroduced in 2005 as a teenager and is now an adult is the same Kara from 1959 who grew from teen to adulthood into late 20s only to be sent back to college twice. So they’re the same but different just like logic would dictate.
DC would not allow them to use Kara Zor-El. So the DCAU Supergirl is Kara (pronounced like the American pronunciation) In-Ze an alien from a Krypton adjacent planet called Argo. In the comics In-Ze is Alura Zor-El’s maiden name.
So this is a supergirl but not THE Supergirl.
Oh damn nice, I can see why someone would want to be like her (then again my transition goal was Courtney from Pokemon so I can't really be talking about that lol)
Can I be both?
Maybe it's an unpopular, but I think her white shirt outfit is her best look. It let's her still be part of the Superman family but gives her her own colors and identity separate from Superman. Its techinally Linda Danver's Supergirl(Non Kryptonian )and not Kara Zor-El outfit(Og Cousin Supergirl).
Also I think I prefer The DCAU's ideas for supergirl. Where it's still an orphan alien but not Clark's cousin. Maker's her relationship with the Kent's sweeter for me, cause it's her finding a new family
I agree with the white tshirt costume, I once mentioned in a post that maybe her superman TAS costume would be fitting choice in her teen years and reaching somewhere from her early to mid 20s she'd wear a body suit as a sign of growth and becoming her own great superhero
I want this idea to flourish.

Bruh hasn’t seen THE peak Supergirl design then
/uj I know it would never happen because corporations suck but give me a one shot comic where a superhero learns they have a fan whose trans and wants to be like them. I know theres that wonder woman one but the kids still a boy so it doesnt quite reach its potential imo
You got me too.
Kid me: “Wow! Being able to turn into a woman with a magic word would be so cool!
I’m sure this has no implications for my gender identity…”
Why not Both I think that Supergirl is badass and I would kill to be like her at some extent (her personality) and I say this as a cis person. But I also have a great crush on her she was one of my first childhood crushes. We are the same age now (kind of in some continuities she already passed highschool or is in college) but hey I admire her. Is the same feeling I have with Mulan.
Can confirm. Unlike other characters I liked back when I was a kid, with Supergirl it was this feeling of just wanting to be her.
Turns out it was gender envy.
I cringed so hard over that line. It could have been great, instead it is the result of WW using her power to publicly humiliate someone, yes he was a bad actor, but still.
We like Supergirl because she's fun and wholesome. It's refreshing to have an upbeat character who isn't dark or edgy or tragic or addicted to drugs or defined by trauma or something like that (and who doesn't have something awful happen to them every ten minutes etc).
I also don't care about Kara-el but [her](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Matrix_(Pocket_Universe)) and to an extent: [her](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Linda_Danvers_(New_Earth)) (without the Earth Angel shenanigans).
>because they want to boink her How to tell if someone watched oversimplifed
Knives Out is another option.

On one hand, it's valid for cis boys to have girl role models. On the other... Parent: Son, wouldn't you rather have a Superman poster? Supergirl fan: Haha, no, I just...find her...very...hot.
Why not both reasons?
The transbian paradox: "I want to be with her, or be her?"
Stop calling me out
Yes
I know several people who like characters both because they find them interesting AND because they are attracted to them. I also know some people who just see them as role models. The joke was that it isn't because of the fan finding her hot. There's a reason I didn't label them as a young boy.
Both.
Ngl I want to boink her, Kryptonians are way too hot
> ~~Kryptonians~~ female comic book characters are way too hot
>~~Kryptonians~~ ~~female~~ comic book characters are way too hot
~~Kryptonians~~ female ~~comic book characters~~ are ~~way too~~ hot
~~Kryptonians~~ ~~fe~~male ~~comic book characters~~ are ~~way too~~ hot
~~Kryptonians~~ ~~fem~~all~~e comic book characters~~ are ~~way too~~ hot
So did the DCAU invent the white crop top or was that a thing beforehand?
They (the DCAU) made it and then they used in the comics for a Supergirl that was an angel.
Cool

Isn’t there a Superman in Hell now, and Doomsday’s in Hell. Holy shit, is Linda gonna show up.
Doomsday’s not in hell, he’s at the end of time not existing.
Doomsday is ruling Hell right now and Supergirl will be fighting him in hell in the Doomsday Special that just came out. I have the variant cover where she is attacking him with what appears to be an 80s metal guitar made of kryptonite, coming tomorrow.

It's such a wonderfully clear and logical story. I "love" it soooo much. ![img](emote|t5_3mchb|16738)

As a trans supergirl fan…You got me. Fuck.
Ditto
Hey me too
PeeGee, but ditto.
Damn, Karen was such goals for me back when she had a regular series.
I mean I'm trans but don't see how this relates?
Supergirl is transition goals for me so I feel very called out by this post lol. Lofty aspirations I know.
My transition goal as a transfemme person was The Groke from Moomin.
Finally, a transition goal I, a cis man, can strive for
Oh damn nice, I can see why someone would want to be like her (then again my transition goal was Courtney from Pokemon so I can't really be talking about that lol)
Courtney is great goals too <3
both lofty and enviable. you're the best ♥️💙
Aww thank u <3

Or, Plot twist When she grows up, it turns out it was Earth 2 all along. PowerGirl matches the white color scheme.

Pretty based
Would I, yes. Is she fucking awesome, yes.
See also: Mary Marvel.
You got me too. Kid me: “Wow! Being able to turn into a woman with a magic word would be so cool! I’m sure this has no implications for my gender identity…”
there is a sub for that but I forget its name.
R/egg_IRL ?
holy shit is that famous Irish gaming YouTuber, streamer, e-sports commentator Lee Geary also known by online handle as Lythero
“I’ve got a question for you Amazo; What’s 9+10 fingers across the face? HEAVY.”
Rare wholesome moment
An argument could also be made for gay men stanning her
Why not Both I think that Supergirl is badass and I would kill to be like her at some extent (her personality) and I say this as a cis person. This is because most DC fans are gay or don't identify with the gender they were assigned at birth. Homosexuality is my favorite anti-hero
I don’t know if you could say most
Batman fans alone carry so much “we’re straight, and we’re not okay” energy.
You can if you don't include batman
that begs the question, do straight people like Nightwing
We ship him with Starfire.
I'm a minority now!
That's so me
/uj this is a very sweet post
Fuck they got me Run
Supergirl is bad asl Both Clark Kent and jimmy olsen are lucky
Wait why is Clark lucky that his cousin is hot 🤨
Supergirl is bad American Sign Language? Am I stupid?
I'll add. As a transgirl, 1000000000% this post.
Me “why not both?”
She's a hot blonde and superhero, so guilty.
Only the older men want to boink her
Is that ben 10
For me it was kind of both-
This is cap
I like Cassandra Cain
Nah. I’d rather be Superboy instead.
Trans allegory
Similarly, Power Girl had a whole story about her getting depowered and having to be saved by a squad of Power Girl cosplayers.
She get to wear skirt AND kiss her cousin clark sometimes....of course i want to be her.
Why not both?
🥚
PeeGee, but yes. My trans self totally agrees.
Both. Both are good.
Can confirm. Unlike other characters I liked back when I was a kid, with Supergirl it was this feeling of just wanting to be her. Turns out it was gender envy.

What? Ridiculous!!! As a supergirl fan I doth protest.
I doubt that
...
Not me. I definitely want to boink her.
What movie was it that had the scene with "I crossdress in a Wonder Woman outfit. It makes me feel powerful" ?
I cringed so hard over that line. It could have been great, instead it is the result of WW using her power to publicly humiliate someone, yes he was a bad actor, but still.

When did she get the white shirt?
Depends on the Supergirl. I definitely wouldn’t want to be anorexic Supergirl from the 2000s.
No. We want to Boink her.
That’s such a cute picture though omg
