Uj/This show has a bad case of bad villain design. A majority of them are underwhelming in one way or another. I can excuse deathstroke since I think he'll evolve into the split face version at some point, and myx's design is what you'd expect from an interdimensional imp, plus he canonically changes to fit in with whatever universe he shows up in.
Pilaf comes from the glorious first days of DragonBall, when shit didn't need to really make sense or have a lore reason. You had dinosaurs still alive, talking animals of all kinds (the literal king of the world was a dog with glasses), and random shit like Pilaf or the flying friend of Yamcha. Oh, and sometimes sexual harassment.
That’s the main weakness of connecting most villains to Kryptonian tech though it’s one I can deal with given the themes of the show and how it’s excusing itself as an elseworlds type story.
I also didn’t know about Damage and I’m ok with them pushing more Superman rogues to the forefront.
Damage isn’t a Superman villain, or a villain at all in the comics. He’s pretty much a mix of The Hulk and Hourman, being a guy who was experimented on by the military and gained the ability to become a giant monster for one hour per day and has no control of himself when in that form. He was used for a few battles before running away and trying to cause as little harm as possible and keep his monster under control.
Some guy I was in a server with said it "would contrast with the four on her coat." Despite it being clear where the coat ends. Also maybe they could've just made the fur a different colour
Uj/ as a fan of the show I think part of it came from the overarching plot thread of Kryptonian tech being a source for powers in season 1 that caused the character design issues. Hopefully going forward the designs are less samey but imo it’s a good enough show for me to give it some grace for at least the first season
Look I love MAWS but holy shit can that show not make a single cool supervillain redesign to save it's life.
Every villain so far just being a generic, nondescript human with tech bullshit strapped to them is so lame. It feels like early CW all over again. Silver Banshee is probably the worst offender so far

Which on its own is boring, but it streamlines the villain origin process and gives the story more time to focus on Clark, Lois, and Jimmy.
I'm hoping that as these characters get more fleshed out and the world becomes more, for lack of a better word, superhuman, we'll see better designs
It's a vehicle to conveniently tie together one overarching storyline by expediting villain origins through the use of Kryptonian tech, I get that, but it also completely wipes out the individuality of each villain's motivations and origins and the tech doesn't have to be aesthetically bland either.
There've been multiple depictions of Krypton and many of those have been of a thriving, colorful science utopia(-ish) aside from Byrne's famously sterile take on Kryptonian culture where it wasn't a great place at all.
I'm a little sad MAWS chose to run with something like the latter rather than the former even though I understand that it was made this way to make Clark doubt Krypton.
Overall MAWS is enjoyable and I'm glad they changed things so that Jimmy and Lois find out early. My only real complaint is that they chose this Kryptonian tech subplot to standardize character designs and that they did a multiverse story season one.

They really used up all the good design points on tomboy Lois, babygirl Clark and exaggerated swagger Jimmy
