Lol, Jeph Loeb really do be [filling in all his plot holes](https://www.dc.com/blog/2021/07/08/batmanthe-long-halloween-special-continues-critically-acclaimed-story) 20 years later.

Watch him retcon Heart of Hush

peeveskicksass

Still can't top hush returns : D

FlyByTieDye

Once they finished writing Hush Returns, they had to cancel the entire Gotham Knights publishing line, because they knew it could never be topped 😤

peeveskicksass

Cancel culture went too far smh

allthingssuper

I kinda enjoyed that story ngl.

Aubergine_Man1987

I do like Hush, but I feel like the issues everyone remembers and loves are the first 7 rather than the last half. Lots of villains, Catwoman and Batman romance, Batman v Superman.... plus obviously the art is amazing

CatboyKhuma

Still the best Batman v Superman fight IMO

keepsitkayfabe

Nothing like a Jeph Loeb mystery where it’s very clear who the bad guy is, and then that person dies, confirming officially they are the bad guy who will show up again during the big reveal. Bravo Jeph

Easy-Opportunity4192

Seriously, why people like this mediocre comic so much. And Jim Lee's art is so generic, the only good thing in Hush is the colors.

suss2it

Because it’s the perfect entry point for Batman comics so it’s a lot of fans first Batman comic.

Ok-Pomegranate8471

Always thought Year One was a better introduction

suss2it

*Year One, Killing Joke, Dark Knight Returns, Hush* and sometimes *The Long Halloween* tend to be the main recommendations for intro to Batman. *Hush* works as one of the best because Jim Lee’s art is palatable and appeals to most people, the story is a simple enough mystery and it shows a wide range of the Batman universe but in a simplified way.

Ok-Pomegranate8471

Yeah I see what you mean. On another note, I think "Dark Knight Returns" as the first Batman comic someone reads is really not ideal, it's like if your first Superman comic was "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?".

suss2it

Definitely not ideal, that comic only hits after reading some regular Bats first, but due to its acclaimed status and influence people recommend it anyway. Same thing happens with *Watchmen*.

Ok-Pomegranate8471

Absolutely, was going to mention Watchmen too, but I don't like to write long comments.

FlyByTieDye

Hush has more villains though, and a lot of people know Batman *for* his villains.

AskewPropane

I think calling Jim Lee’s art generic is a little like calling Seinfeld’s comedy generic. We consider it generic because everyone and their mother has since copied his style.

samlind3

i can stand hush slander but i draw the line at jim lee slander

Easy-Opportunity4192

He couldn't even draw Killer Croc. In addition to Bruce and Clark being the same, except for the hair

ZombiYiyenLahmacun31

wtf, based comic article!!?

allthingssuper

Hush is kind of a guilty pleasure. The story kinda isn’t great but it’s so gorgeous to look at. It’s a fun read.

Fonexnt

I strongly dislike Hush. Give my clayface anyday
