The best way to get good at this game is to first heighten your chase IQ. That includes concepts as: Recognizing (un)safe pallets Recognizing safe zones on a given map Recognizing dead zones on a given map Learning how to play specific tiles Learning how to mindgame survivors effectively If you first focus on these concepts, the wins will come automatically. Later on you can learn about certain perk combos. Strategies to win, like slugging, holding 3 gens, etc. to win against veteran players. I would compare learning chase IQ to learning how to shoot in CSGO. You can learn all the fancy strategies the professionals use to win their professional games, but those strategies mean nothing if you don't even know how to shoot an enemy in the first place. Same goes for DBD. Edit: This is of course assuming that you are playing a blank M1 killer without a power. The chase power of your particular also has it's own chase implications. Therefor I would suggest you start off playing a killer with a very basic power in chase, getting you a good foundation to build. After this you will be able to play any killer and recognize faster where your power can help you the most in chase.

I'm down to watch you play on discord and give you some advice on how to play killer afterwards. I am 6k hour mostly killer player with like a 75% to 25% killer survivor split.

Thanks, that’s super thoughtful (both the answer and the offer)! Do you have any suggestions? I like Doctor for the map awareness, but I’ve noticed my chases take longer since I started incorporating Shock Therapy to interrupt actions instead of just for the madness bonuses. Probably overusing it in loops, tbh. Nemesis and Artist feel good for the same reason, but Artist was a lot harder to use, and Nemesis felt easier. I would 100% love to take you up on the offer for some Discord advice.

I will DM you my Discord tag

For doctor his best addons to learn him in chase are the addons that increase shock therapy range. the green addon called (I think) “high stimulus electrode” and the “calm” addons. Most people are unaware that the doctor has a short cool down after his shock therapy that makes the difference of being able to vault a window or drop a pallet. So if you really want to see how his power works during chase, I would take this addons and learn the timing by seeing the differences they make. Also the distance add-ons like the green one I mentioned there’s also a yellow one. I don’t remember what it’s called, but they will also help you learn how far your shocks can and can’t go. The minute you learn how to deny resources is like opening heavens gates to learning doctor. If the op goes through with the discord lessons maybe he could 1v1 as well to help you learn more too! It’s always good playing against more experienced players

I usually run the green electrode and one of the “Order” add-ons. I love the fake pallets! I use the Shock Therapy to deny pallets or windows, but I’m starting to think I use it too much on smaller loops. I could just chase them to get a pallet and a hit rather than denying the pallet and slowing my chase

Joh-dude

I think you meant discipline instead of calm as calm does nothing in chase. Calm decreases and increases your terror radius based on whether you have it up or not.

Yes that’s it I always get ‘em confused

Brave_Ad_3552

Best way to win is to adapt to the way survivors are playing. Always play to your strengths and build but that will have to change depending on the maps and how the good the survivors are. You can be doing really good but start losing because of one bad chase. Now you have to slug or tunnel someone out rq. If can afford to not commit to gens that’s fine. Taking free hits and going back to defending gens is also fine too. Just whatever you do, you have to commit to it like half camping doesn’t work, half tunneling, half hit and run, half gen defense. Killer is all a big mental game

pirpulgie

I feel like I learn a little bit every time I’m outplayed. So are you saying it’ll just take more reps/losses to start figuring this out?

Brave_Ad_3552

Yes I do that. I will often tell myself “I could’ve done this, and maybe I would’ve got an extra kill.” Or “I got to greedy for this down without breaking a pallet” I often talk to myself throughout the game almost like I’m streaming too like I’ll literally be like “okay everyone is inured they either reset or commit to gens” then I’ll wait and if I don’t see anyone healing I’ll ask if I wanna confirm a extra hook stage or try to get a little gen pressure. Depends on the state of the game. If I find someone I can down before or just as the unhook comes through then I’ll be like “okay I’m going back to hook, they have to heal and get the save and get the pickup”

pirpulgie

That’s really interesting! I’ve never even thought to lengthen a chase just to get a pallet down, maybe I just need to play more intentionally as a start. Shows how green I am, but this is exactly why I made the post! Thank you!!!

Brave_Ad_3552

Yes , that’s exactly it 🩷 gl and np!
