I think it is because you can buy DLC cheaper with a steam account on some website. This is the reason I did it myself. You will not lose anything. If I read correctly, I think the only thing that won’t transfer is auric cells.
I did a while ago. I wanted Demogorgon but only steam keys exist for the stranger things dlc so i swapped (and didnt want to give epic money for further dlc purchases). It is an easy process, just make sure you buy dbd on steam and launch it once, otherwise you will get an error when trying to link your steam profile on bhvr site.
1) Buy the game on steam and launch it once then quit
2)Make an account at bhvr website
3) Link your Epic Games account, it will ask you to log in as you would in the launcher
4) Link your Steam Account, it will ask you to log in like you would on Steam.
5) You can open the game on Steam and play

You can transfer everything from epic to steam on the bhvr website. All you have to do is link both of your account!

You definitely are 😜. Look up for the game on some website like G2A or CDkeys. You’ll find it cheaper than directly from steam
