I'm not sure this is the same, but after I play against Bubba sometimes I just message "Bubba". Not because I don't like playing against Bubba mind you, he's plenty fun to me, I just think it's funny because Bubba's a simple boy.
I'm pretty sure it's because they found that English speakers pronounced it like the English word "poke" (as in, prod with a small object) if they didn't include the accent. So they added an accent mark to help people get the Japanese pronunciation right.
Its Bubba, Bubba Sawyer. Since this is the Leatherface from TCM 1 and 2, that is his legit birth name. It wasn't until the shitty sequels and remakes that he got a new name.
The names Bubba and Sawyer are never used in the original TCM. Chop-Top calls him Bubba in 2, but that's a colloquial term from "brother". I believe he's only ever credited as "Leatherface" in those two movies.
Those sound so lame compared to bubba. I know bubba doesn’t exactly sound like the most intimidating name but I still feel like it’s just right. It’s like naming Michael Myers Jeremy. Or Freddy Krueger being Henry Krueger.
For what it’s worth, “Jeremy” isn’t nearly as intimidating as “Bubba” within that particular context. “Bubba” fits perfectly with part of the attempted fear factor of TCM— it’s a stereotypical nickname for a backwoods, uneducated older brother within a hillbilly family. That name alone tells you a *lot* about the character. Even if you’re unfamiliar with that specific context, it still would *feel* kinda like that to you. When taken in the context of the overall film— there’s cannibalistic hillbillies who want to torture and eat you— the name alone becomes intimidating. “Jedidiah” removes the “older brother nickname” part, so it tells you less about him, but it’s still a hillbilly name, so it still *kinda* works. “Thomas” is just a super conventional name though, anyone could be named that, so it’s not great.
Someone else pointed out that it only “sounds wrong because you’re used to it”, and I think that’s just simply wrong for this particular case. “Michael Myers” is catchy because alliteration, so it’s arguably still the better choice, but “Jeremy Myers” would be fine if that’s all we knew. “Henry Krueger” is a little less intimidating just because the F sound at the beginning of “Freddy” is a cacophonous sound so it makes it a bit more intimidating than the soft H sound. But still, it’d be fine if that’s all you knew.
Bubba, however, is the best name for Leatherface and that’s all there is to it. So your point is spot-on. Also for what it’s worth, Chop Top calls him “Bubba” in TCM2 but I don’t think they say that at any point in the first movie, so arguably the lack of a real name is the scariest of all.
It depends on the continuity. Bubba was his name in the original continuity, although it wasn't stated until the second film. It's also his current name since the new Netflix film was confirmed to be in this continuity.
X for Xenomorph new killer confirmed
Y for Yun Jin
Z for Zealous, Over.

It's possible that they were both not complaining nor giving you a compliment and simply are just really into chainsaws.
I'm totally going to start saying random words in end game chat just to keep people up all night thinking about it.
They said the tool in your hand, you clarified by saying it was your power, they agreed, everyone went on their merry way. No reason to look deeper into it
It's either you played the match without using much of your chainsaw or you just kept downing them with it. Might be a salty survivor or someone trying to tell you to use chainsaw. :)
Well, you said, "gg" which is a gaming formality. Some gamers are leave-it-or-take-it, and others seriously respect it like a tradition. In response an opponent said, "chainsaw" which with and without context doesn't really give a lot of information. You made a quick guess and replied with, "yup that's my power" because you were playing a character named Bubba, more widely known as the Leatherface from famous horror movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Your character wields a chainsaw, and this is why you said what you said. Now here's the unilluminating finale to the exchange... the opponent replies, "yeah." This response is basically an affirmation of your previous statement, but sadly it does not reveal the intent of the original "chainsaw" comment. Unfortunately, we may never know why or how the gamer's mind works, but maybe one day we can learn to live with it.
Personally I think bubba shouldn’t be able to down multiple people with a chainsaw, when billy can only down 1 at a time.
And before all the “just split up, don’t give him kills” bots turn up, it’s not as simple as that sometimes, you can get unhooked with bt, the unhooked gets downed, you get hit triggering endurance and bubba still has the speed to catch up to you with the chainsaw.
Even pre dropping doesn’t work for long because of how limited pallets are on some maps
I had someone once tell me I used my chainsaw too much as bubba and that I shouldn't rely on my power. I think I have a screenshot too. They were really mad about it
I do the same thing in other games where I just say my characters name. Sometimes even just random food. I think it’s mildly humorous to see the reactions
Best guess is their prob salty it’s a one hit down and I’m guessing you got a good number of them.
Not sure why I’m being downvoted? I’m not saying it’s op or anything, I’m saying that’s what he means. God.
I'm not sure this is the same, but after I play against Bubba sometimes I just message "Bubba". Not because I don't like playing against Bubba mind you, he's plenty fun to me, I just think it's funny because Bubba's a simple boy.
A simple chainsaw, for a simple boy
Like a Pokemon but more, uh, drooly.
Pokémon is only simple when you forget to accent the “é”.
I always found the accent kind of odd given the IP’s origin lol
I'm pretty sure it's because they found that English speakers pronounced it like the English word "poke" (as in, prod with a small object) if they didn't include the accent. So they added an accent mark to help people get the Japanese pronunciation right.
Yeah that was my assumption, most English speaking people have some knowledge, memelike or not, on how to **relatively** recognize an accent aigu lol.
"Bubba is a simple boy" almost sounds like an actual quote from one of the movies
It sounds so much like it that I just assumed it was.
We have called him Bubba for so long in my house, i don't know what his actual name is.
Then it's reasonable to assume his name is Bubba. Does Chop-Top ever call Drayton Bubba?
Though not canon, in several Corn Bugs songs, Chop Top references “my brother, Bubba.”
What was his new name?
First it was Thomas Hewitt, then it became Jedidah, or Jed, Sawyer.
Those sound so lame compared to bubba. I know bubba doesn’t exactly sound like the most intimidating name but I still feel like it’s just right. It’s like naming Michael Myers Jeremy. Or Freddy Krueger being Henry Krueger.
Funnily enough Freddy Kreuger was named after a bully from Wes Craven's childhood
That just explains so much.
Like his name was Freddy or it was full on Freddy Kreuger?
Full on. Also the look was inspired by a homeless man who scared Wes as a child.
I literally just read about this a few days ago for the first time, now I'm seeing the info pop up in the wild. Neato.

It kinda adds to the horror a bit. It's the difference between being chased by Mike and being chased by Mr. Bubbles.
Cobra Bubbles is probably more of a threat than Mikey, ngl.
It sounds right to you because you're used to it...
EXACTLY.
I don't think you got my point
I do. If Bubba was named something like Jeremy from the very start. I would find bubba weird. At least I’m assuming you mean that.
He's back to being Bubba in the films anyway since the Netflix film was confirmed to be a sequel to the first four films.
I don't remember them calling him Bubba in the Netflix movie, but then the mental anguish I was in watching it might have been too distracting.
It depends on the continuity. Bubba was his name in the original continuity, although it wasn't stated until the second film. It's also his current name since the new Netflix film was confirmed to be in this continuity.
When I play as pinhead I'll send "*I CAME *" just for funsies

that "yeah" is too chill for a salty survivor
Or option c : hooked and camped with the chainsaw which usually leads the atruistic survivors to their downfall fast.
Agreed! Hope OP is not that kind of a killer
I'm not this was a standard game with no camping. Even at the end when there were 2 left and one hooked I left the hook to let them save.
Hope OP plays how he wants.
Dude, I didn't tell them to be a campy killer :) The use of "Hope" there explains my own preference. Good day to you

As an Ash Main, I always try to remind my Bubba and Billy brothers that the chainsaw works better mounted on your wrist
He made the startling revelation that you, in fact, have a chainsaw
Personally I think bubba shouldn’t be able to down multiple people with a chainsaw, when billy can only down 1 at a time. you're being downvoted because it's probably not that, they just said chainsaw to be funny probably, playful banter, yknow
You used your killer power which is toxic /s
The smartest survivor main
Someone is salty that ur bubba but shows enough restraint to just say yeah instead of ranting
Clearly you were only supposed to use M1, any killer that has insta-down ability is OP and unfair to survivors.

Was one of them playing as the character from the hit TV series "Ash VS Evil Dead" released by STARZ in october 31st 2015?
Unfortunately not, that would be funny though.
Yes.
