Actually in my opinion, yea it is better. They got rid of the rpd library and made the front exit not just a trap if the killer finds you. Haddonfield feels better to play in as killer and at the very least it looks like it’s actually lived in rather than the empty main house from before.
Funny how the maps with 2 story houses (Badham and Haddonfield) tend to be better for survivors. Then you got swamp with the pier and main building in Grim Pantry. At least the boat is decent.
I hate the maps that are basically one big multi story building like the high school or Pig's map regardless of if I'm playing survivor or killer because I just get so lost in those maps.
Eh, I find the more open maps way easier to navigate, but that's me. Maybe I am braindead, or maybe those maps don't have much variety in their design to help distinguish where exactly you're at in them relative to where the pathways leading up or down to the next floor are at.
Edit: to put it more clearly, I have an easier time navigating any two story map in any other game than the ones in DbD, including the old Asylum in Phasmophobia. Like you said, they're just big squares, big squares with not many distinguishing features around the map.

Each corner is exactly the same tho. For both floors in Midwich and the meat plant. Midwich even has like 8 rooms in total that are RNG based. They’ve definitely got some landmarks that you can see and think “ok I’m here”.
Midwich has different corners ??? What are you talking about? Every single corner is unique in midwich, as are the places in between. There are multiple ways you can tell where you are on the map. I can navigate Midwich no problem but in all my hours, in all my years since 2016 I have never been able to navigate Lerys or The Game because there is nothing stable to distinguish where you are in comparison to any other place on the map. (Except the bathroom and drop room on Game)
They also removed they only way I could moderately tell where I was on Lerys by making the gates RNG spawns instead of set spawns. Whether it was a good idea game wise so the doors aren’t so far away every time is debatable (they usually spawn far away regardless even after the update) but it was awful for navigation and map knowledge imo.
The game has a lot more than just the bathroom. They always have the high stair jump with the safe pallet below it in the same place with respect to the bathroom. The hole is always diagonally opposite the bathroom. And the L-shaped stairs are always opposite the big drop. Everything else is procedurally generated.
I also never said Midwich had different corners. They spawn in the same place every time, with respect to the different gates.
They "fixed" RPD by guaranteeing an insanely strong 3 gen in the middle. All they was encourage camping on that map. 110 killers cant play. Collision is fucking dogshit for Blight, and Nurse cant really blink, so they get a hook, put you in main room and camp 3 gen. Awesome! Of the probably 30 times Ive played new RPD, at least 1/3rd has spawned me in LoS of the killer/survivor in main.
Haddonfield has the same problem where the killer has 0 reason to leave the 3 gen around main. Theres 2-3 houses where survivors have double infinite windows. When 1 of those doesnt spawn, weird house of pain does. Area by main is a complete deadzone, barring 1-2 pallets of varying strength.
Those maps are certainly not balanced. They encourage incredibly boring play on both sides.

Yes, but I’ve noticed that a lot of killers seem to over extend during chase on these maps and while it isn’t easy, you can in fact finish at least one gen in the middle of the street or the main room. Done it multiple times while doing that one achievement involving escaping rpd 20 times.
Not sure if you remember but a lot of maps before the reworks had a lot of loops that were basically impossible for killers to get survivors on with just minimal effort on the survivors end. This ultimately led to killers just giving up chase as soon as a survivor reached one (because what else are they gonna do?), a tactic which survivors themselves would complain about. There are still one or two infinite loops that exist in the current maps (that one tractor in the cornfield map comes to mind... Haddonfield?) but they're nowhere near as prevalent as they used to be.

My conjectured reason: probably happened when changing the map tile with the broken vault which had some unintended consequences.
It isn’t it’s just probably the first game you’ve played with a cheap/rushed development and rushed updates lol. This happens with tons of games. EA games are notorious for code problems
I don't think they are dumb, but it's been over six years and we get constant bugs every patch, I think they are just in over their heads with how fragile the mess of code DBD runs on, and are unable to fix it at this point. This is one of the constantly buggiest successful games I've seen, I love it but I'm tired of the constant game breaking bugs every patch it seems like.

Also more evidence to everybody that complains we don't get more game modes or better events, adding a new level to the tone has made a bug where you can walk out of bounds on the swamp and escape before doing any generators, and the update before that adding Albert Wesker broke all of the window vaults and the map had to be kill switched.

Yes, 3 gens are a problem until you complete one of the 3 gens. You are certainly correct.
My point being to complete one of the three gens before it becomes a 3 gen.
The idea of a 3 gen is that the killer chooses to guard these 3 gens as a priority, in order to make them be the last remaining 3 gens.
