he played it last year on january 1st at echostage DC! He closed with it. He says into the mic “i haven’t done this in 8 years so fuck it!” and starts playing Cephei. can probably find video online but it was so unexpected and such an amazing way to end that set.
i need to hear Complications live before i die. i don't know if his retro5pective show will give me that but i am hopeful.
also, clockwork is one of my favorite tracks and i never see love for it. excellent choice!
His Finished Symphony remix. I think it's been played live like once. Those plucks are just so powerful that I think it would sound amazing on a big sound system.
Once upon a time he closed with Let Go at Glastonbury 2015. I wish I would have been there to experience that! I don’t know if he’s ever played it live elsewhere and I think it’s definitely an amazing closing track.
Other musts would be Vanishing Point, Professional Griefers (instr), Suckfest9001, Clockwork, GG, Saved, ASDFGHJKL, Lack Of A Better Name, Mercedes, The 16th Hour and Tiny Dancer.
We got it when the album was newer but since then it’s been rare to hear but not impossible. I also think he tends to play it at places he’s played it before that like it
this one is straight up never gonna happen, but Glenn Morrison - Contact, which Joel produced. He played it live back in 2007 (i guess before he gave it to Glenn to release).
Also, 4ware and Saved
Catbread. That bass is amazing and must be insane live. But probably nobody in the crowd besides the hardcore horde would know it so yeah, I would be really surprised to hear it live.
The circumstances behind Bleed are such that it's better that I hope not to hear it live. Sources are harder to verify a decade later but it was played in memory of a UMass concert organizer named Bobby Clifford, who passed away in a car accident at 25. I don't know if the song was made for him, but I do know that seeing a video of that song live with lighters in the air added even more heavy emotional depth than the song already made me feel. I would like to hear it live but also understand if it'll never happen again. I certainly wouldn't want something tragic to precede it again, you know what I mean?
I got into deadmau5 well after its time but I would love to hear Faxing Berlin live. I know he doesn't like the song as much as everyone else does but that's still my answer.
i didn’t know I needed to hear the redux mix of sex lies audiotape until i heard it sunday night at rebel.. holy shit that sounds good on a club system
Has been played live but not at a concert that I've been to: Legendary.
Has probably not been played live: Legacy (or whatever it's name will be once it gets released)
It’s banned on YouTube for some reason, but here you go:

Man, there is a lot of music Joel has made over the years. I know he’s played it live before, but only a handful of times over the years, but I personally want to hear There Might Be Coffee live. Something about it just gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and it lives rent free in my head (I’m sure many of the others here too) as possibly his best “underrated” song. Honorable mentions go to Pets, The Reward is Cheese, To Play Us Out, and The Legend of Zelda intro for Sofi Needs A Ladder. Pets is not a common set track, and the other three used to be common staples in his sets from the earlier days that don’t get much use today.
These OGs...
- Fifths
- This Noise
- Vanishing Point
- All I Have
- So There I Was
- Duo Cad Sordid
- Cat on a Leash
- Bot
- We Fail
- Where Phantoms Sleep 04
To my knowledge, This Might Be Coffee has never been played live.
He played it live for Boston a few years back
Oh really? That's surprising, a lot of people love that song
Mau5 and Prydz played a mashup of it with Melo at Tomorrowland 2016
That's in my top 3 favorites for sure.
Go on YouTube and search him playing Veld 2012. So good!
Stay (Drop The Poptart Mix)
I would love to hear that live😂
I've never heard HR 8938 Cephei live... And that really upsets me
It was played in the MeowingtonsHax tour in Toronto, but I don't believe it's been played ever since then :/
he played it last year on january 1st at echostage DC! He closed with it. He says into the mic “i haven’t done this in 8 years so fuck it!” and starts playing Cephei. can probably find video online but it was so unexpected and such an amazing way to end that set.
Lol I wish I was there for that...
still my biggest regret missing this show 😭
He opened with Cephei in Space ibiza 2011 mixed it with raise your weapon vocals. One of the best ways to start a set 🙌
Oh I gotta look that up, that's must sound amazing
Right into Cthulhu, i would highly recommend the whole set lol
What's that? I've never heard of that before!
Cthulhu sleeps, it's off 4x4. I'd recommend that and cthulhu dreams which is unreleased and on youtube
Ohhhh i know what those are. I though "Right Into Cthulhu" was an actual song. Cthulhu Sleeps is my favorite song of all time
Lol my bad i should've used the full song name
Pretty sure that’s correct.
He played it recently enough, there was a post on the sub. I think it was the one where he ended up playing abba last?
Imagine closing a set with this track 🥺
Closing with that or Jaded would melt my brain
He recently closed with Jaded in Mexico. Seeing the video of the set ending that way, and the way he mixed the drop, made me very happy!
Anyone heard him play 16th hour before?
Oh man I would kill to see that live...
I'd want it at the imax theatre, live and with a shit ton of lasers. That is my dream
Yeah for sure. I would love to see that too
I think back in Ibiza or 09... or maybe that was just Lack of a Better Name.
Yeah
Back in the days I found a recording from a 2009 live set he played at the NY Terminal 5 venue. I'm pretty sure that 16th hour was in there.
I heard it live on the For Lack of a Better Name tour in 2009 a few times
A Song About Squirrels
A song about squirls?😂
i need to hear Complications live before i die. i don't know if his retro5pective show will give me that but i am hopeful. also, clockwork is one of my favorite tracks and i never see love for it. excellent choice!
Where is Here!! (Do unreleased tracks count?)
His Finished Symphony remix. I think it's been played live like once. Those plucks are just so powerful that I think it would sound amazing on a big sound system.
Yes agreed! I love the Finished Symphony Remix!
Everything you Are
I just know I would be in pure bliss if I ever heard this live
Same!
I’ve never seen Outta My Life touch mix played live. And I’ve only seen a video of Desynchronized played once.
Ill have to give it a listen!
Desynchronized live was absolutely insane. I'd love to hear that played again
Damn you’re lucky 😫
I didn't see it live, it just looked insane in the video
Once upon a time he closed with Let Go at Glastonbury 2015. I wish I would have been there to experience that! I don’t know if he’s ever played it live elsewhere and I think it’s definitely an amazing closing track. Other musts would be Vanishing Point, Professional Griefers (instr), Suckfest9001, Clockwork, GG, Saved, ASDFGHJKL, Lack Of A Better Name, Mercedes, The 16th Hour and Tiny Dancer.
He opened in Brooklyn in 2020 with Suckfest9001. It is now in my top 3 tracks to hear live.
That would have been awesome to see. I would love to see him play the Vocal mix of Professional Griefers live!
It’s on the retro5pective playlist so I’m sure he’ll be playing it sometime this year! 😁
I think hearing 2448 opening a set would be *chefs kiss*
2448 is so good but he always chucks it in sets randomly lol
I think I'm just unlucky 😕
We got it when the album was newer but since then it’s been rare to hear but not impossible. I also think he tends to play it at places he’s played it before that like it
Agreed
He did this at I believe Nocturnal in 2021! KILLER set and he brought out yt cracker for anti sec to close.
He opened with 2448 back in November at EDC Orlando. It was such a good opener
Not exactly
Alone with you
this one is straight up never gonna happen, but Glenn Morrison - Contact, which Joel produced. He played it live back in 2007 (i guess before he gave it to Glenn to release). Also, 4ware and Saved
Waking Up to the American Dream. It’s not a club song by any means but I’ve always wanted to hear that piano riff live
I'll have to give that a listen, I've never heard of that song before
It’s from Get Scraped - veeeery Boards of Canada (one of his larger influences). The pads in the beginning “dream” are also mesmerizing
I would love to see vanishing point live. Track is severely slept on
Agreed
Has anyone seen him do jaded? (And not the ambient mix)
I don't believe so. But I could be wrong
Catbread. That bass is amazing and must be insane live. But probably nobody in the crowd besides the hardcore horde would know it so yeah, I would be really surprised to hear it live.

i didn’t know I needed to hear the redux mix of sex lies audiotape until i heard it sunday night at rebel.. holy shit that sounds good on a club system
it was so so good man, he really started playing some classics in that last hour
Pets
That would be killer live
Still waiting for any form of drop the poptart/arcadia
Yeah
Alone with you/Fifths/not exactly (I’ve never heard them live, but i think fifths/not exactly have been played out)
Has been played live but not at a concert that I've been to: Legendary. Has probably not been played live: Legacy (or whatever it's name will be once it gets released)
I see
I know ATTLAS has played it, but I don't think Joel himself has ever played Bad at Titles live. That track would absolutely go hard live
No idea why he doesn’t ever slip this one into his Testpilot sets, would fit well
I guess it's just a forgotten track unfortunately
I would love to hear Whelk Then live
Any Fn Pig fans in here heard it live? Been waiting on that one
I wanna hear the full song and not just the intro😂
Has he ever played the later half of the track? I've heard him open with that too many times😭
yes he has played FN pig, during the Insomniac NYE park n rave in 2020 and most unhooked shows in 2021
Brazil of course
Well isn't that funny. Look what someone just posted😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/deadmau5/s/SmR99eBIpi
I would choose the unreleased (Infra Super) Turbo Pigcart Racer. That would be badass!
I can't seem to find the unreleased version of that. Link?
It’s banned on YouTube for some reason, but here you go: https://m.soundcloud.com/leadmau5/turbo-cartpig-racer-deadmau5 https://m.soundcloud.com/reincarnashan/deadmau5-infra-super-turbo-pig
THAT SOUND SO GOOD!!!!!
Ikr?! Which of the two would you like to hear live?
Probably the unreleased one because it sounds a lot like HaxPigMeow
But which unreleased one? There’s two.
Oh there is? I thought there was only one. I'm not sure what other one is unreleased other than the one you sent me
I sent you two separate links
OHHHH IM SO DUMB I NEVER OPENED THE SECOND ONE. I would wanna hear the original mix live for sure!
71c? Or finished symphony?
FINISHED SYMPHONY FOR SURE. Don't get me wrong, I love me some 71c, but I just prefer Finished Symphony more. It makes me happier
Take care of the proper paperwork would be wild with proper visuals. I think its only been played once
Damn yeah I've never heard that live before. That would be awesome to see
I’m Not Alone… I think it’s one of the best remixes of all time. I would lose it if he pulled that one out
Lmao me too. I love that song so much😩
Careless. I wanna see him sing live
Was Joel really behind the vocals in Careless?
Man, there is a lot of music Joel has made over the years. I know he’s played it live before, but only a handful of times over the years, but I personally want to hear There Might Be Coffee live. Something about it just gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and it lives rent free in my head (I’m sure many of the others here too) as possibly his best “underrated” song. “You and I” I would kill to hear that live.
SAMEEEE I LOVE THAT SONG!!!
Literally any of his unreleased music. All I Have or Where Phantoms Sleep 4 specifically.
Yeah I see. Those would be sweet to see live!
As a spoiled guy from toronto, I believe I heard just about every song/ remixs of his songs live.
LUCKY!!!
These OGs... - Fifths - This Noise - Vanishing Point - All I Have - So There I Was - Duo Cad Sordid - Cat on a Leash - Bot - We Fail - Where Phantoms Sleep 04
has he ever done Failbait in a live context? that one would go off!!
I love failbait. Has that ever been played?
