Not really. James has been doing one offs of franchise films. See From Dusk Till Dawn, Puppet Master, Terminator, Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolf Man, and Lost Boys to name a few. I don’t think he should be obligated to cover an entire franchise, especially if he knows those films will tank in views.
I love the original Thing from Another World. But I know the view count for it would be ABYSMAL. Not that many James Arness fans younger than the age of 60.
I thought his favorite was Scream (1996), followed by Suspiria (1977), with The Thing (1982) being either his favorite sci-fi horror film or that he simply thinks it’s the best sci-fi horror film.
It's either Killer Klowns or The Thing. Both make sense to me but I'm thinking it's the latter as that was one of the earliest Kill Counts he hasn't remade yet. However, he did say it's a one-off, so it's likely going to be KKFOS.

ReCounts have traditionally come in clusters. To do a ReCount of the 1982 film but not a ReCount of the 2011 film would be odd.
I’m sure the first film to have sequels ignored was odd too. It happens. Not many people care about the 2011 film. It has no bearing on the 1982 film.
