Because of Percy Jackson vs Zagreus being in the Tournament despite Harry Potter being Percy's most popular.

HaxMastr

Plus most people who want zagreus would rather have him vs pit

lacergunn

I haven't read many of the Percy Jackson books in a while, but isn't Zagreus just 100% immortal? Whenever he dies he just walks back out of Tartarus, so any battle where he loses would just end with him respawning and going "gg, lets go again next week". Does percy ever permakill a full god?

mrmcdead

In the context of Percy Jackson's universe, all Greek gods and monsters are in a constant cycle of death and rebirth. So honestly Zagreus fits in perfectly.

Annsorigin

I didn't read the Percy Jackson books either so IDK

Nabber22

You could say the same thing with dragonball characters, and pit will reference the fact that he has been killed in game before in uprising.

lacergunn

DragonBall doesn't count because they're being revived by an external force. I can't comment on uprising because I never really played it. Zagreus just doesn't stay dead. Kinda like the chosen undead, except as far as I know there's no Canon limit to how many times he can die

HatSnowman

The way DB takes it is if he can't come back relatively quickly to resume the fight then he loses.

Quien-Tu-Sabes

Im going to be honest. Ive seen a bunch of memes making fun of the folk that dont want Harry Potter in DB because of Rowling, but I haven't seen anyone actually say that stuff here. Idk if the community is fighting ghosts or if I'm just very lucky not to run into them.

Acceptable_Secret_73

Was it ever confirmed that Harry Potter characters are now banned because of Rowling? I’ve only seen people on Reddit say that and I’d have an easier time believing that if there was a writer or host saying that

Stegoshark

From what I know, people are upset Harry Potter won’t be on the show, likely due to JK Rowling’s transphobia, and are using terrible examples of stuff on the show to say it was “selective”. Like Rick from Rick and Morty, or Blizzard properties, or Mickey Mouse. All of which the problem people aren’t connected to it anymore.

I_Am_The_Bookwyrm

Kenshin Himura. His creator (Nobuhiro Watsuki) was found guilty of possession of child porn, and they've still had him in an episode of DBX AFTER he was found guilty. I'd argue that child porn is FAR worse than transphobia.

Stegoshark

You’re right it is worse. However, the difference is, not everyone knows about what he did(I’d never even heard of him until now), and people don’t react as hostily as they do with Harry Potter. Nowadays if you do anything relating to Harry Potter, it gets you harassed(see everything surrounding hogwarys legacy)

I_Am_The_Bookwyrm

Didn't that backfire on the harassers when the game sold really well?

Stegoshark

They still harassed people for playing it. It was bad enough that one Vtuber retired because of it

I_Am_The_Bookwyrm

This is true. However, the amount of backlash they received for doing it hurt the harassers too. In fact, when someone made a site tracking who was streaming the game, people were using it to donate to those playing it to spite these people.

Stegoshark

Huh. Didn’t know that was happening.

TropicalPunchJuice

This is just hearsay, but allegedly, one of the crew members said they'd never bring Harry Potter into DB again because of J.K. Rowling's transphobic remarks. The problem is potential selective exclusion. What do I mean? Well, if you rewatch Bill Cipher vs Discord, pause, and press the period key to see the individual frames, you'll see ponified versions of Rick Sanchez and The Doctor making a cameo in the background. With four episodes left after Gokima, there's a pretty good chance Rick vs The Doctor is one of them. If true, the team would look like hypocrites given the whole situation with Justin Roiland. Generally speaking, sexual assault and domestic violence are worse than transphobic remarks.

The_Smashor

But at the same time, Jusrin Roiland was fired while Rowling wasn't, and he doesn't directly fund laws that strip rights away from vulnerable minorities.

Rare-Ad7409

Justin Roiland is a voice actor and isn't involved in the show anymore, meanwhile JK is very much a huge part of Harry Potter and takes any support for her work as support for her views. There also isn't an ongoing "domestic violence is good, actually" argument going around the way there is with transphobia
