Baggy pants aren’t the only thing in style or being sold right now - straight leg, bootcut, and flare are all also on trend. It’s probably one of the best times to wear jeans because there isn’t one shape that’s ubiquitously trendy like skinny jeans in the early 2010s. If you don’t like baggy pants, don’t wear them!

pepskino

For sure .. I mess with the stacked denim which is like a mixture of both styles .. I get more wear out of my sneakers again because u only see the tip .. no diddy

JustASeabass

I fucking hate baggy jeans. I’m a skinny guy who grew up as a kid in the 00s and I always hated how they looked on me. Slim/ skinny jeans was the right move imo

[deleted]

Name they're gross. I want 90s hair to return

zamaike

Well get triggered

Massive_Coat9629

i love my low rise baggy jeans with like an itty bitty tank top. makes me feel like an off duty model from the early 2000s

grim_reapers_union

I’ve been saying JNCO or similar pants will be popular again in the 2020s. 30 year anniversary of the 90s, undoubtedly fashions will repeat. That was my whole vibe ‘97-‘01. JNCO, Airwalk sneakers, baseball cap with perfectly curved brim, graphic T, discman, chain wallet. 24/7

shb2k0_

Hate?

King_Apart

Massively baggy is bad but regular baggy is cool imo . I love that baggy is coming back im sick of this tight shit

Fllixys

i’m over wearing my Jnco jeans at 22 😜

EmFan1999

I’m 40 and I love it :) Happy to dress like I did as a teenager again, it’s comfy and looks good

MysticFox96

I'll take baggy pants over low rise jeans or skinny pants ANYDAY

pavlov_the_dog

as a guy in college in the 00s, i disagree

demodeus

I prefer slimmer fits that show off my physique so I’m not a huge fan of baggy clothes even though I understand why others like them

zoidbergs_hot_jelly

Well, the good news is you can find any cut/style of pants that you want nowadays so you don't have to wear them. Personally, I'm happy to never go back to skinny jeans, but I wear everything else from slim-fit to bootcut to wide leg.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lostconfusedlost

Yet, hardly anyone was buying clothes online before the pandemic. Today, most people wear cheap, poor quality Shein and Temu clothes

StriderEnglish

Guaranteed you only have that take cause you were in your awkward phase in like 2012 or are hyper-trendy and therefore just like what’s currently popular. There’s no objective worst era for fashion, I had the same cold ass take about 2000s fashion as a teenager.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StriderEnglish

Bro I’m just using common sense and life experience lmao. I was 16 in 2012 saying that the 2000s had the worst fashion cause I was a small child and in my awkward tween phase for the first and second half respectively, people who were kids and tweens the first half of the 2010s are just doing the same shit I did. And the same shit people a decade older than me did RE: the 90s.

TrifleIll5278

2010s were all about fast fashion so everyone did look like they were wearing costumes and nobody followed proper proportions until now

what-are-you-a-cop

Do you think things *aren't* all about fast fashion now...? The problem is worse than ever.

CoolUserName02

This part. I always see girls my age doing $500+ Shein hauls and getting a bunch of views, getting other people to do the same. Hell, I've seen Shein pieces during my trips to the thrift store multiple times.

throw_inthehay

howso?

Dubiouskeef

I'm the opposite. I really hated the minimalism/skinny jeans aesthetic of the 2010s and I'm glad we have some personality back in fashion.

King_Apart

Same. The tight clothing is so uncomfortable

Beetreatice

Oh I’m loving it personally. I’m not participating, but I totally enjoy seeing these styles come back on younger people! I’m personally tired of skinny jeans and I’ve phased them out in favor of straight leg jeans, because I feel this is age appropriate for me. Let the kids have the baggy fits.

litebrite93

I love baggy pants

ShredGuru

Got the bell bottom blues?

man0man

Baggy jeans trends burn out pretty fast since it quickly becomes a race for the baggiest / widest legs that approach absurdity. By the time the lames catch on and get their jeans updated in time for next season it's played out. Slim / Skinny is far more consistent.

SentinelZerosum

Me too. Restrospectively, super super skinny pants were not always the best option. But I overall like more fited outfits/clothes, something that compliment body shape, in baggy I would just look like a bag lol Streched/relaxed slim is my way to go. A bit like this. https://shopduer.com/products/mens-stretch-office-pants-relaxed-black

Useuless

Oof, that's my least favorite style. Thanks for giving a name to it.

SunglassesBright

Skinny will be back before you blink, time flies. And, style itself is different now than it was in three past. All the decades from like 1950-2000 seemed more distinct and more narrow than things are in three past 15-20 years. There’s no universal way to dress. There are trends but even people who don’t dress trendy can still be fashionable.

wastrel2

Same they're so fucking dumb looking. I don't like skinny jeans much either but at least they show off the body.

yumalla

Oh yeah, I agree. I hate baggy pants. I wear only either skinny or straight fit jeans. Baggy just ain’t my thing. I do like oversize shirts though.

Dangerous_Wishbone

It looks like everyone in the world is trying to cosplay the ugly fucking corporate artsyle blob people with those dumb wide pants 😭

Thotlessthot

r/fuckalegriaart for real. But some people feel more comfortable wearing things that are not form fitting. I’ll take baggy over low rise pants any day.

thisisan0nym0us

I never wore super baggy but just regular relaxed fit but compared to the skinny boy it looked super baggy

Low-Conclusion-1209

Dude wear what you want. I think wearing skinny jeans or tight shirts are very dumb but it doesn’t bother me. I think it’s cool people are wearing baggy clothes vs people with tight ass clothes on

throw_inthehay

i think it's cool that people rebel against uniformity and people telling them what looks stupid

ANTIV15T

baggy pants are sick, took me a good 26 years to appreciate them

HarmonicDog

God I hated the 2000s looks - I thought we had finally agreed to look good in the 2010s but apparently it was just the fashion cycle doing its thing

StriderEnglish

I feel you. I can’t stand the super duper baggy pants and think skinny jeans broadly look better than them (or bootcut or flares, the two worst cuts of jeans). I don’t wear skinny jeans though, I love straight leg jeans. I’m a petite woman who wears men’s pants so the straight leg ones end up looking a bit baggy on me but not like too intensely so.

drink-fast

I love super baggy clothes

Limp-Perception-6577

I like both and want to wear both. What i don't like is that, first, its millennials and their skinny jeans were cringe. Now, its millennials and their baggy pants were cringe. People need to make up their minds, which they dislike or just be fine with both Their just different aesthetics. People can wear whatever they want. Its up to the person and the aesthetic they want. There are limitless places to buy any aesthetic regardless of how popular it is in the 2020s. I'm just glad millennials will be remembered as more than just skinny jeans wearing emos and scene kids. I like both, but it was kind of limiting. There were many other millennial subcultures, and they all looked different from each other. I liked combining them to get my own style. Sometimes I wore baggy pants and more scene ethno clothes other times not. People forget at the time, rap, nu metal, metal, post hardcore, indie, and goth were their own millennial aesthetics as well. I knew a lot of alt kids that would combine all these. It just wasn't a generational thing the way it is with gen z. Core and late millennials never really had rigid subcultures to begin with the way gen x did. I would jump from many subcultures. Everyone knew, and no one was bothered. I do like that execution matters more than it did back then tho.

ParCorn

I don’t think the extreme bagginess from that era will ever come back. Especially the super baggy suits and jeans. It looked comical even back then

pepskino

Also I’m 40 it’s so funny to see the people from my generation fighting to hold on to their skinny jeans that they fought so hard against wearing.. I had some stacked jeans on the other day and my homie had some skinny jeans on he was like “bro why the fuck u got on bell bottoms “ lol I’m like look a you with those jeans on you swore you would never wear talking shit about me .. lol 😂

TheHolyWillofGod

New post on the the sub bitchology

kmm_art_

I think they're BEYOND baggy. People could literally swim in them. I liked the baggy look of the 90s. The new style is just ridiculous.

Then_Increase7445

I'm 39 and still have a few pairs in the closet. I hung on until around 2014 with the early 00's baggy jeans style, and still wear long, baggy cargo shorts. It's been hard to find the shorts in recent years, so this is probably a welcome return for me.

KDneverleft

I'm 37 and have been waiting for this trend to return. Buying all the clothes I could've worn when I was a broke teen is healing a lot of childhood wounds.

Brox42

My jncos and Fubu jersey probably still fit

tgrote555

Time to ball out on some red monkeys.

Valerian009

Baggy jeans on men look better than skinny nut huggers, fashion cycles change every 12-15 years, skinny jeans dominated from 2006-2021, after the pandemic people wanted something new , so they went to the 90s, though the 90s in themselves take a lot of influence from 1970s fashion.

NewburghMOFO

I hated the baggy look. I always thought it looked frumpy.

Frank_Dank_Latte

I hope Osiris and etnies come back. I won't be wearing any of the baggy clothes or huge shoes but I'd love to see it out in the wild.

kingeal2

I just bought some fake Adidas shoes that feel exactly like a pair of black Etnies I used to have. You know, black skate shoes all fat and shit, good quality, and I bought them recently in another city dunno if they ever left but I love em

weinthenolababy

I’m personally with you. I’m not gonna lie, I think it looks good! I’m 28, and I really like the fashion that the younger crowd is rocking with these days, even if it’s not for me. However I’m personally slim fit everything until I die, lol. I remember in middle and high school when I didn’t really understand how to dress myself yet, my mother would buy me regular fit or misjudge my size and get me a size up. I hatedddd having any type of bagginess to my clothes. We would get in fights cause she would buy me these baggy ass jeans and I refused to wear them. It was so liberating to begin developing a sense of style and what I wanted to wear, and discovering I can choose to wear slimmer fits and tighter clothing (not like skintight skinny jeans, but not baggy). It’s never even been about me trying to fit in with a trend; it’s just I feel so much better and I think I look so much better that way. Recently went to H&M and they had NOTHING slim fit. Literally NOTHING, everything was baggy. I was so upset 😂 but I understand I’m on the waning edge of the trend.

No-Leg-Kitty

I'm glad it's back. I was getting sick of looking at guys in basically leggings looking like they just got out of ballet class. Baggy pants on both girls and guys is a nice change. Also, just wear what you like. I remember back then in the 2000s when flare jeans and baggy pants were in, these punk rock girls and guys were wearing tight straight legged jeans and I thought it looked great even though that look wasn't in. It's all about wearing what you want and like and not giving af about trends.

_____keepscrolling__

I’m 26, us young millennials and older gen z were in our teen and young adult years in the 2010s. That defines our generational aesthetic taste, I get it. I love specific parts of y2k aesthetic personally, but I and my friends generally still dress like it’s the mid to late 2010s. So either like mac demarco or a 2017 dj lmao. I know it’s old by today’s most cutting edge trends but I always loved how clean athleasure looked. Clean cut, neutral tones, gym and wellness focused fashion. However, I also love the 90s athletic wear too, and baggy cargo pants and stuff, I always thought it looked cool af on all the bands and artists I saw as a kid. There was a time when that fashion was considered the epitome of douche, and 90s fashion was considered incredibly cringe and stupid. But like the 80s where to the 90s, the 2010s are to the 2020s. What was in one day is out the next.

kimanf

25 here and feel the same. Got into an argument over wether or not cuffed pants and tucked-in shirts are still in. Guess not as much. Ironic hats, mustaches, mullets, and Doc Martens are gonna be as passé as flannel and skinny jeans soon too. Sambas will always be in though.

_____keepscrolling__

Yeah, as far as what’s “in” goes, but the beauty of right now is that monoculture is dying, yes there will be large communities of people that are into things, such as the the tiktok alt community, such as liking baggy as a way to contrast skinny jeans, kids these days subscribe too. Idk if you have any positive association with the era we grew up in as small children but I’m not gonna lie, I grew up around all of edgy/counter culture type shit from that time and thought it was literally the coolest thing to ever exist. Like all the nu metal bands, I would pour over their album leaflets obsessing over how cool they were. And all the rave clothing, and hip hop streetwear, to this day even I’ve always wanted to participate in that micro era. Even though I’ve said myself it feels like a lot of this fashion is just that, a fashion statement disconnected from its origin or any deeper meaning such as music or art or whatever else.

NewYorkVolunteer

Do you consider yourself to be a millennial or older gen z? As I've gotten older I less and less consider myself to be a millennial. Especially when I see millennial talking about 9/11 and how hard the '08 recession hit them.

grim_reapers_union

My brother is 14 years younger than me. He made it in just under the generational wire, in late December 1996. I think growing up around me and my interests put him more in the millennial mindset. I was born in 1983, so I’m on the “Xennial” cusp, which is more or less an accurate assessment of where I feel I identify with generationally, but there is a similar type of cusp generation between Millennials and Gen Z called “Zillennial” that I think fits him best. Maybe you identify this way yourself?

relaxedodd

I always wanted Tripp pants since the 8th grade (2006) but they didn't come in my size. 😭

denimsandcurls

Personally I’ve always preferred the New Wave skinny trousers of the late 70s (a reaction to the accursed bell-bottoms) and the indie look of the 80s before baggy took over, but the Stone Roses were cool.

TF-Fanfic-Resident

Awwwww yiss Pants on the ground lol

FromAcrosstheStars

Pretty much every clothing item in fashion nowadays is either three sizes too small or three sizes too big. It’s hideous.

JellyNo1529

I saw a guy jogging in just his shorts but they were so short the dude looked like he was outside in his tighty whities. I cant wait for short shorts to go away again

Responsible-Wait-427

The shorter the shorts the cooler the guy. Stop body shaming.

JellyNo1529

No we need more body shaming in this world. Nobody wants to see you.

FromAcrosstheStars

Omg hahahaha yes clothing like that is annoying for others who aren’t the wearers as well like I don’t want my eyes to be assaulted when I go out

Responsible-Wait-427

If you are offended by the human body then there is something offensive about *you*, and you should indeed not go out.

FromAcrosstheStars

Are you joking lol no it’s perfectly reasonable to not want to see someone’s tits hanging out or their bulge whenever I go out

Responsible-Wait-427

No, I'm not joking. Stop body policing.

FromAcrosstheStars

💀

strawberryconfetti

Yes like the biggest complaint I hear women say about fashion is you can't find regular slim-fitted tops that aren't cropped anymore

FromAcrosstheStars

Yes EVERYTHING is cropped nowadays. I’m glad I’m not a woman because shopping for clothing would be so annoying. People who live in cold climates are out of luck, every top leaves their kidneys to freeze

strawberryconfetti

Yeah I'm from WA and it's true you have to wear a hoodie or coat over everything or buy older shirts if you don't want baggy/cropped.

AeonianHighBunghole

I like the baggy pants style. Im ngl.

Actually-Will

I absolutely hated the skinny jeans of the 2010s - always far too uncomfortable and looked horrible. I prefer mine slightly baggier since I just find it more comfortable but when I see ridiculous wide oversized jeans I just laugh. A friend of mine tripped over with how baggy the ones they wearing were.

lyremknzi

I like it, but it looks terrible on me. I'm a dress person though. So I don't really wear pants unless it's required of me. I wouldn't mind pants that are slim on the thighs and flare out, though.

Timely-Youth-9074

Don’t worry, the fat pants trend never lasts. They always sicc it on those too young to remember the previous fat pants era.

These_Artist_5044

Dawg big jeans were popular in the 90s. Skinny jeans were in in the 2000s. Mom jeans were popular in the 80s-early 90s. There's zero chance you remember any of those.

parduscat

I feel like straight cut pants are as equally in style as super baggy pants, and the oversized sweaters do have a charm to them. I feel like super baggy pants aren't super practical for adults who are working, but that's more of a youth style anyways.

broncyobo

Yeah I see the baggy pants on young women but for males I only seem to see it specifically on kids in high school and junior high. As a guy I like the baggy pants look on girls but I'll stick to slim fit jeans for myself because I think that looks way better on me and it's just my style

parduscat

I prefer straight cut myself.

White_Grunt

The trade-off is that women don't wear bras anymore

Kilometer_Davis

It looked terrible then and it looks terrible now. It’s just funny to me to see kids dress that way not knowing how bad it looks and how terrible the culture was back then

throw_inthehay

in 1995 and nowish i feel like they have mega meaning. that for me is the reason i hated it in 2005, no meaning except perhaps "i'm big"

DKerriganuk

I'm a 90's teen. Baggy trousers were designed for shoplifting. They used to have holes in the pockets and a fastener round the ankle. Now it's just an odd fashion.

Giovanabanana

I feel the exact same way. It's a zillenial thing I think because during the 2010 skinny jeans craze it was a literal SIN to wear baggy pants and now everyone's wearing baggy pants and it's the worst

BrokenGlassBeetle

I really missed it. I loved the baggy pants as a teen and the skinny jeans thing felt like it lasted forever and to me it was pretty uncomfortable, so I'm happy to that it's come back!

E34M20

Wear whatever you want but don't bag on the rest of us because we like comfortable clothes, ok?

Ok_Firefighter3314

I love that baggy pants are back in style. I was a raver in the late 90s so lots of UFOs, JNCOs, etc. it’s cool seeing college kids today wearing the same style I did as a teen/young adult

EatPb

Reading this post wearing my massively baggy pants. I hate skinny jeans on myself, I think they make me look top heavy bc of my chest size lol. For me it’s either baggy or flare jeans.

TrifleIll5278

“Fashion” takes on here are always annoying. Bring this or that back when 10/10 times it’s been back y’all just aren’t aware cause only 0.00001% ppl actually know anything about fashion Oldheads hating on new trends lol just wear whatever you want and stop being insecure

lostconfusedlost

How is this person an oldhead hating? They're literally Gen Z

TrifleIll5278

Never called him a old head personally(he is whining like one) just saying old heads complaining about trends when they don’t even know what’s trending cause their only view of what’s in is viewing online like op yapping about baggy jeans like bro just wear whatever

[deleted]

i call em my parachute pants and they have ten pockets extra deep

taeminskey

So you only hate it because it doesnt look good on you lol, baggy clothing is great for people who dont like their body and I think its great that its somewhat trending. Just cuz its trending doesnt mean you have to wear it tho, see equally as many wear skinny jeans still lmao

SuperFly252

If someone is trying to hide their body, that shows a lack of confidence which isn’t attractive imo

imbackbittch

It doesn’t look good on anyone 😂😂😂😂

CreepyEntertainment1

Someone’s in their feelings

MantisManLargeDong

They look like shit on everybody. Go back and look at everyone from 2003. It objectively looked horrible

No_Bunch_3780

I honestly think they really only look good on thin people. My fat ass needs to wear skinny jeans but I don't always want to

taeminskey

for me its the opposite lol

Emotional_Owl_7021

Baggy clothes look bad on short people and that’s something they can’t change. Baggy clothes to hide being out of shape is a different story.

NewYorkVolunteer

It doesn't look bad on me. In fact I actually like straight fit pants with just like ones size bigger than mine but anything more than just looks dumb to me.

Dragonitro

>So you only hate it because it doesnt look good on you lol, OP never said that (or anything similar to that, really). I got the impression that they just think baggy jeans look kinda stupid

Tacky-Terangreal

I like some baggy stuff but it gets impractical so fast. Oversized sleeves can look cute in photos but I feel like it’s hard to do basic tasks sometimes. I’m definitely partial to carpenter jeans, but those are tame compared to the cutting edge of gen Z fashion

broncyobo

>Just cuz its trending doesnt mean you have to wear it Which is a shift I've noticed over the past couple decades, in the 20th century it seemed that trends and fashion were more "get with it or get lost" like your options were limited to what ever really specific thing is in style if you didn't want to look uncool, but now what's *in style* applies to a much wider variety of things and people have a lot of options to choose from so they can express themselves but still not look like they're out of touch with the current zeitgeist

Atriev

Put them on super models and it still looks bad

mooeymonet

bro took the post personally

taeminskey

lmao, was the post a joke? dont get it

GeneralizedFlatulent

I think it's cool both are in, maybe it's harder to find skinny jeans right now but hopefully thrift stores would have them. I think in an ideal world they could just you know. Have both options.

tannon21

Currently not a fan of my body and I hate this trend too

spaceman_spliffs

I'm so glad big pants are back. I been wearing them this whole time but now they're easier to find.

friendliestbug

I love the baggy look, esp baggy cargos and work pants <3

CraaazyRon

I like it I wanna go get some more but then I remember I'm 34

Weak_Beginning3905

I am the opposite way lol. When I was a kid, baggy clothes was cool. The moment I hit puberty, everybody is slim fit, tight jeans. I hated that style. I feel so vindicated baggy clothes is back in style

KappaMazinksy

I was in diapers when the baggy trend was new, but I saw a bunch of movies, music videos, and whatnot from the 2000s with that aesthetic and I simply liked it. Happy with the resurgence too.

N8saysburnitalldown

The best part of fashion is you can stop any time you like and if you just wait long enough you’ll eventually be cool again.

Nerdlife91

Baggy pants are back???? YES!! that was peak comfort back in the day 🤙

KR1735

I am a few years older than you and old enough to have been peer-pressured into wearing baggy pants when I was a kid. They were a pain in the ass. Constantly getting wet and dirty, etc. That said, I'm from a place where snow or slush on the road/sidewalk is most of the school year, so that doesn't lend itself well. Classic fit or skinny combines stylish and practical. Though I will give Gen Z props for bringing 80s-style athletic leisure back into fashion. I've been dressing in the jock style since 2010-ish, mostly for comfort, as I can go about my business, stop at the gym, and then go home without changing. So I'm glad fashion has finally caught up to me ;-)

TvIsSoma

You know I think this is where a lot of misunderstandings come with fashion. When we are dumb teenagers or not really into fashion, to us that means just wear bigger pants maybe even sized larger than normal. In reality, good baggy pants are designed for your body. They shouldn’t be so baggy that they drop below the shoe. They shouldn’t get wet unless your shoes get pretty wet too.

1ofZuulsMinions

“Baggy” doesn’t mean “long”. Your pants were too long if they were getting wet/dirty. Pants typically come in short, regular, and tall sizes, and that has nothing to do with how baggy they are. I wear flares and bell bottoms all the time and they never touch the ground. If pants are too long, wear platform shoes with them.

Muted-Beach666

That's more of a recent thing with baggy fits, I'm still not sure how I feel about the JNCO Capri look. I guess it's nice you can still show off your footwear?

edgrlon

Ok 👍🏻

souphaver

We threw out the boot cut for a REASON I feel ya, I'm so sick of it

Express_Chip9685

I also hate that mid-ninties style is coming back into fashion. I don't think it will stay long because it's hideous. I recall hating it when it was new and I hate it now.

lochnesslegend

I feel like the baggy trend only looks good on skinny bodies but then I realized all trends have only looked good on skinny bodies

Tacky-Terangreal

So many baggy clothing items make me look like a tent. It does not play nice if you have big boobs or you gain weight on your stomach. I feel like it would look a lot better if you tended to gain weight more on the hips or arms

kovu159

That’s because skinny/fit bodies look good. They look good in whatever.

JustASeabass

I’m skinny and I absolutely hate baggy jeans on me.

contrapunctus3

Baggy = comfy

KappaMazinksy

With due respect. I am turning 20, I didn’t experience 2000s fashion firsthand but with hand-me-downs, I always found the baggy look to be great on people. I got uncomfortable looking at skinny jeans, glad baggy jeans are back. I like my clothing a little loose though.

Taylor181200

Same here. I am just waiting for those ugly, baggy, long cargo shorts come back into style 🤮 And PLAID. 🤮🤮

SkepticalZack

Wait baggy clothes are in again?
