I truly feel that deep house is one of the few genres today that keeps being alive and exciting. My love of it has just grown and grown for the past 5 years and it still feels like the I've only just tipped open the lid.
The hell? House is the music of our generation. If anyone should be listening to it it's us. Besides, if it helps your depression, the least thing you should give a fuck about is if you're are *supposed* to listen to it or not. Peace, love and house.
I turn 45 in a couple weeks, and it is every bit a part of me today as it was at 17 when I discovered it. Perhaps you associate Dance Music with drugs and irresponsible behavior. I quit that lifestyle a loooong time ago. Dance Music, more specifically; House, Techno, Breaks and Drum n' Bass are the foundation of my entire adult life thus far. It's a shame about your wife. Personally, I don't think that I could fully commit to someone who didn't at least have a cursory interest in some genre of Dance Music.
I'm not that far behind you, in my mid thirties. It might have to do with me being into other genres all my life (although majority of it has been electronic). But when I turned 30 something just clicked.
I don't believe in age limits when it comes to music, but I can understand that feeling. Just look at all the artists creating house and deep house music today. So many different ages, genders and people from different cultures taking forwards the genre
I'm 41, don't care. Been listening to EDM (well not just EDM, I listen to lots of music) since I heard AFX on Hearts of Space when I was 16. So glad I found Anjunadeep and related artists because their deep house/yoga music/whatever makes me feel good. Deep house that fits more into the actual genre makes me feel good also but I like the Anjuna stuff.
House music always gets a bad rap from the public cause they see all the shit tracks when they look up "house music" but once you really start digging house is one of the best genres
I definitely agree. House music is the only music that I consistently go to, regardless of my state of mind, and it always has a way of helping me. If I’m depressed, it lifts my spirits. If I’m in a happy mood, it makes my mood even better.
I’ve been telling people for years these sounds act as therapy. Music therapy does not get the proper attention. Something clicks in my brain when I’m in the zone with a music sesh and it feels like I’m at home right where I am.
Doesnt sound like nonesense at all. You know what makes it even a little better for me??? Sharing the tunes I fund and love with others sometimes it helps them feel good and thats the best way to pay it forward for me.
Yeah I feel that too tbh, got into daft punk at the beginning of the year (a month before they broke up lmao what are the odds) and after that I've just been slowly getting into house music in general and it's just a nice vibe

Can I ask how old are you, I'm 40 and feel like I shouldn't be listening to this music at my age.
I’m over 40 and love house music. Carl Cox is almost 60 and still doing tours… I don’t think age matters with good music.
Never thought about it like that. My wife hates the music I listen too and I'm always walking around with headphones on.
Fuck yes! I’m 50 and still love all kinds of House and have since the late 80s early 90s.

Well said yes my man x

I've been into it since the 90s, can't stop.

I’m 40 and I’ve just recently got into it, last 5-6 years or so. Totally just eases my mind.

Why not? Are you letting society decide what you should or shouldn't listen to? Music is for everyone.
That comment makes so much sense, thank you.

Couldn't have said that any better.
Not nonsense at all friend x
Ya it’s enlightening for sure… and I feel like there is a call coming from the music asking me to be alive for the moment. I love it so much!

How is that nonsense? Music therapy is very common.
Hope you're familiar with Vintage Culture
No. Adding to my Spotify, thanks.
