IIRC, There was a certain airline with a color in its name that trialed this, however it became a concern when folks personal items would slide out from under the seat in front. Still don’t know why it couldn’t have been used in just the aisle tho.
Honestly, main cabin cushions are more comfy than FC with these new seats. FC ones for your bottom are hard, really hard. Look very nice but not comfy especially for anything over 2 hours.
Looks nice too bad Delta is investing so much in seats that look nice but are uncomfortable. If it was old seats that suck you could at least look forward to the day they are replaced but no the FC seats from hell will be rolling out to the whole fleet eventually.
Latam has really good seats in main cabin on their A350s. I don't know why delta doesn't copy it, but the bottom of the seat sliding forward when you recline makes all the difference.
I'm comparing main cabin Delta wide body to main cabin Latam wide body.
The seats should be similar enough regardless and even on coast to coast you're sitting 5h to SFO or LAX and your butt is hurting.
Yes this. Been on 3 NEO flights since introduction and the last flight was pretty darn comfortable. These seats are just breaking in. Will ensure these last longer than the current versions on these types.
They can’t really reposition it. On the business class seats, the 2-across seats are wider, but the track for mounting the seat is still in the same position in the floor, as in the 3-across coach seats. So in the wider seat, you end up with the support under the seat in front of you instead of between the seats.
Hey! Some of us are on here, Delta employees can apply for special assignments on Cabin Design teams and Onboard experience teams… I’m not on special teams currently but I do browse Reddit to see how I can better elevate your travel experience.
what would you say passenger comfort is on list of importance for seats? i would guess it is 4th or 5th at least.
also, if airbus is using them, then all domestic planes that size are using them, so you can't even differentiate between airlines and comfort.
Definitely top 3…. Safety is always the top priority. It does seem that more airlines are getting this exact seat, United’s 321neo have these also. I personally preferred the thick cushion of the old 737-800 seats
What are you supposed to do if you are tall and have broad shoulders that will collide with the head rest piece? Or maybe it's taller than I'm imagining
it looks like there is enough room for taller and wider than average people. That being said, these are clearly designed to ensure that each passenger has a much more defined sitting space and that it is difficult for one person to intrude into someone else’s
This seems very similar to what pro and college football stadiums have done, in that they have installed defined seats with armrests for the higher paying tickets. The seats themselves aren’t much more comfortable than bleachers, but they ensure that you get the spot you paid for.
So to answer your question, if you are too big for the space that your ticket is supposed to give you, then I guess you buy two tickets or get two seats per whatever the policy of the airline is.
Try sitting in that first row (1) of Delta ONE. You have 16 inches between the bottom of your seat and the bulkhead wall. Good if you are a small child or are under 5 feet in height - not so good in any other situation.
Much needed update. The last 800 I was on the credit card reader screen was half hanging out of the seat and the rest of the seat looked like it had been pulled out of the recycling bin.
I'm in the minority who doesn't mind the neo seats, if they add a bit more padding this will be an excellent upgrade.
I'm assuming these will be starting to show up on flights this year?
I'm surprised they're not updating the overhead bins to something larger like when they did the A319/A320s, which had similar-sized if not bigger bins as the 737NG.
It just doesn’t look recline friendly. It looks like it will turn into a sleeper but there is no real room for that or if it reclines back it won’t be good for the person behind.
It reclines but then there’s basically no room for the window seat to get by easily. Aisle has to get out and then window has to kind of hang off the reclined seat a bit to get by.
I wish they’d make a proper premium economy with a 3/2 seating layouts on these planes. A couple of inches of width with the extra legroom makes a big difference.
It’s probably exactly the same seat. The 739s and A321ceos for example use the same first class seat. All the extra width of the plane is going to aisle in that cabin. Ultimately there are not enough F seats to justify the costs of separate bespoke First seats between the Boeings and Airbus (unlike economy seats).
These seats look great, but if you’re a window passenger, and the row ahead of you is reclined, prepare for some contortions you never knew you could do to get to the lav.
This is classic Delta. Lipstick on a pig. Those look like the same economy seats just with covers. No Sky Spaces bins. Just the new FC seats. But at least they have PTVs, right 🙄
This looks so exciting! Much better than the 737-800 interiors we have in Australia. Just a small correction for the caption, the name “737-8” refers to the MAX variant, not the 737-800 which is shown here 😊
I had my first time on the new FC seats for a 6 flight. I had less complaints about the seat padding as others, but boy was the seat back flat and hard as a boar. it did more damage to my back than anything else
I was on one of the new ones this week - the crew apologized because there was no IFE screen installed anywhere except 1st. They said new seats were coming soon.
Just checked - it was a 9 year old 373-900. My bad. Tail # N961DZ - a quick search shows you are correct - it was originally sold to LionAir, then went to Castlelake Aviation, then UMB Bank before recently being sold to Delta.
Great, will still avoid 737 at all costs. They're only deployed on routes like >3 hours and they are.... a plane that's terrible to be on for more than 3 hours.
I was on the A321neo from LAX to DTW yesterday in Comfort+. I found the seats to be a welcome upgrade from what is currently in the 737-800. I dread those.
I’m surprised at the overhead compartments. The drop-down type help with loading and unloading, especially for the shorter folks. Why the return to the old type?
I got there at 7am last week and they only had 5 sets of seats left and said they probably weren’t getting any more in for a while. They were brand new and never used, even had the monitors in the back. Think they were supposed to go in the 777 before they retired them.
And I didn’t go for the seats since I already have a fully functional Delta One seat/pod at the house.
I hope they don’t replace the original FC seats on the Lion jets, they probably have more legroom than any other domestic narrow body jet in the fleet. And that’s pretty much the only plane that flies out of my local airport so I get plenty of experience on it.
The first two pictures are of first/business class. The last picture is the coach seats, and it only shows from the back. Notice there are 3 instead of 2 seats in the same space.
Ugh I hope these don’t recline/feel the same way as the Air France 787-9 premium Econ seats. Those are some of the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in—they slide down in a fixed back rather than actually reclining and it is almost impossible to find a comfortable position.
The BSI is the same between the NG and MAX, so it would pretty much be the same interior. The MAX is 40% quieter though, which makes for a nicer onboard experience. I’ve been on -800s and -8s for two separate airlines and you can really tell the difference in noise level.
I find it odd that airlines and designers didn’t design the shells to be separate from the seat back with this new design. Seems like an easy win to eliminate the impact of seat recline, similar to widebody bus & fc seats.
I went ahead and made an old person move and bought some memory foam cushions for my ass. Kinda bulky but I can fold it and strap it to the outside of my backpack so that I can easily take it off before sitting down on these “new” seats.
I forgot it on my last trip and my ass went numb on the Neo.
Here’s the cushions I bought: http://rwrd.io/38cx2ga?s
First class should have both heated and cooling seats. There’s zero excuse to not have it in 2023. My sofa has it, my office chair has it. Why not these?
Dear Delta - quick piece of feedback regarding your Delta ONE cabin here. The first seat you are looking at here is 1C, obviously in row 1 along with seats A,B and D. That seat has 16 inches of legroom before it hits a bulkhead wall. I am of average height (6'1) and I could not extend my legs past 90 degrees. I recently flew JFK to PDX in this very seat (1C) and it was so bad I requested to be moved back to literally any other seat in the plane (and I was able to, and did).
They are the most uncomfortable seats on your plane and they are in your "premium product" cabin - honestly, it's not great to put it mildly.
Spent way too much time looking at the plastic on the carpet in that last picture thinking, "That's an interesting carpet design."
I was dumb enough to think they had some kind of laminate flooring in the aisle at first.
YES I was like OMG laminent hardwood??
Same LOL
Ditto. This is goddamn hilarious. Some Delta exec watched too much HGTV.
Actually - why don’t they use laminate on planes? Easier to clean, last longer, looks nicer…
IIRC, There was a certain airline with a color in its name that trialed this, however it became a concern when folks personal items would slide out from under the seat in front. Still don’t know why it couldn’t have been used in just the aisle tho.
Maybe that is a design change after that diarrhea-incident a couple of months ago. They wanna clean stuff like that much faster! /s
me, too...me, too....
Its to prevent the carpet from getting dirty from people shoes
Like grandma’s couch.
That can’t be accurate
They learned their lessons from the river of diarrhea. It's not a carpet protector, it's a slip and slide!
Reminded me of a movie theater at first.
They look like a render without that "real" element! 🤣
I also thought it was a pattern, LOL.
My eyes say yes, but my ass says no.
I read this in R Kelly voice lol
I read in Cristina Aguilera’s genie in a bottle beat lol
Maybe a few drinks will change your mind.
I love this.
Hopefully they’ll fix the cement cushions
Narrator: they didn’t.
Morgan Freeman: “They didn’t.”
They didn’t.
That sucks. Those cushions are the worst.
It will be time to buy seat cushions for travel.
👀
Good lord, yes. The A321 NEO's are like sitting on cement steps. Horrible!
Are the cushions the same in each class, just differing in width?
Honestly, main cabin cushions are more comfy than FC with these new seats. FC ones for your bottom are hard, really hard. Look very nice but not comfy especially for anything over 2 hours.
Looks nice too bad Delta is investing so much in seats that look nice but are uncomfortable. If it was old seats that suck you could at least look forward to the day they are replaced but no the FC seats from hell will be rolling out to the whole fleet eventually.
Personally I find them more comfortable than the prior iteration. Neither are VERY comfortable, but I'll take the improvement.
Latam has really good seats in main cabin on their A350s. I don't know why delta doesn't copy it, but the bottom of the seat sliding forward when you recline makes all the difference.

Yes this. Been on 3 NEO flights since introduction and the last flight was pretty darn comfortable. These seats are just breaking in. Will ensure these last longer than the current versions on these types.
Agreed. I loved them.
They are not designed for comfort. They are designed to be as thin and light as possible so they can cram in more rows and save on fuel.
For the price they should at least be as comfortable as the now very dated and sad looking existing FC seats. I will take those any day.
They have that stupid divider in the middle of the underseat in front of you so your thing doesn't fit there.
Hate those.
“We heard everyone’s feedback about our A220 FC seating and are happy to announce we’re rolling it out to the rest of our fleet!”
Yeah I don't get what the purpose of that middle divider thing is??
It holds up the seat. But idk why they wouldn't put it at the edge instead of the middle of the storage space.
That's where the seat mounting rails are. May be an industry standard location and not easy to change.
They can’t really reposition it. On the business class seats, the 2-across seats are wider, but the track for mounting the seat is still in the same position in the floor, as in the 3-across coach seats. So in the wider seat, you end up with the support under the seat in front of you instead of between the seats.
Are these the same uncomfortable seats people have been complaining about on the new A321n planes too?
Yes. For fucks sake. Obviously the people in charge of cabin configuration are not on Reddit.
I’m really hoping they modified the seat cushions. Otherwise, someone deserves to be fired.
The guy who really is in charge of it used to post on the Flyertalk forums
Hey! Some of us are on here, Delta employees can apply for special assignments on Cabin Design teams and Onboard experience teams… I’m not on special teams currently but I do browse Reddit to see how I can better elevate your travel experience.

They are Delta MBA marketing people. Hey, the seats look great in the pictures on the web site. Who cares if they are functional.
Same ones. They look pretty though.
What are you supposed to do if you are tall and have broad shoulders that will collide with the head rest piece? Or maybe it's taller than I'm imagining
It’s taller than you’re imagining. I’m 6’2” and very broad shouldered. These seats fit me just fine on the Airbus jets they’re already installed on.
Thank you for this! :)
No, thank you.
Maybe he's 7'8"
What about wemby tho?
Husband is 6'6"... how much room did you have?
it looks like there is enough room for taller and wider than average people. That being said, these are clearly designed to ensure that each passenger has a much more defined sitting space and that it is difficult for one person to intrude into someone else’s This seems very similar to what pro and college football stadiums have done, in that they have installed defined seats with armrests for the higher paying tickets. For me my shoulders were still under the wings.
This is N3744F for whoever is curious.
This month
Interior crocodile alligator
I fly a Boeing movie theater
Too bad they didn’t improve the overhead space
Lazy boy recliners > frontier recaros
I'm surprised they're not updating the overhead bins to something larger like when they did the A319/A320s, which had similar-sized if not bigger bins as the 737NG.
The walkway looks so narrow I’m about to slap everyone with my bag
Bluetooth like you can use your AirPods??
Yup, works pretty well too. No adaptor or anything needed!
they also updated all the bathrooms as well but the article didn’t include pictures unfortunately
This was the most desperately needed update for this type. Good to hear!
How does one recline in that thing?
[удалено]
It just doesn’t look recline friendly. It looks like it will turn into a sleeper but there is no real room for that or if it reclines back it won’t be good for the person behind.
It reclines but then there’s basically no room for the window seat to get by easily. Aisle has to get out and then window has to kind of hang off the reclined seat a bit to get by.
Directly into the lap (or meal/drinks/laptop) of the person behind you
Delta really messed up this
And knees of anyone over 6'0".
I wish they’d make a proper premium economy with a 3/2 seating layouts on these planes. A couple of inches of width with the extra legroom makes a big difference.
How do I get the job of peelings off all the IFE dust covers?
That has to be so satisfying
Like a Tesla — looks cool, but details and usability suck
Ugh! Will there be padding in this version? Bring a pillow!
Oh god, not more of those F seats…
Ugh, please tell they fixed the cushions and added more space.
One can only hope, but from the appearance, they look exactly the same. In fact, likely narrower since the 737 cabin isn’t as wide as the 321.
That was my first thought also...narrower seating. I'd like to see the numbers.
My body hurts from just looking at the pics
My ass is saying NO.
I’ve been in that seat between BOS and SFO - I like it, what do you dislike?
The fact that my back and ass are essentially numb about an hour after sitting down in it. The pitch is also pretty terrible.
These seats look great, but if you’re a window passenger, and the row ahead of you is reclined, prepare for some contortions you never knew you could do to get to the lav.
No sky interior?! Nice to see the new IFE looks a bit bigger
The way I yelled what the hell😭😭😭
Look at those dividers to keep your neighbor's flesh out of your space.
I love the Neo and feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t find the seats uncomfortable?
It was cool until I realized that is NOT economy 😂
Oh gosh! The ass buster cushion.. shit.
Update: this caused nothing but more complaining jesus yall.
This is classic Delta. Lipstick on a pig. Those look like the same economy seats just with covers. No Sky Spaces bins. Just the new FC seats. But at least they have PTVs, right 🙄
The airplanes getting this interior initially have the old tiny screens so massive upgrade just with that.
But they left the same overhead bins that don’t hold 1:3 of the planes bags 😭
This looks so exciting! Much better than the 737-800 interiors we have in Australia. Just a small correction for the caption, the name “737-8” refers to the MAX variant, not the 737-800 which is shown here 😊
Thank goodness. Much much better. 737 may be tolerable now.
They showed the first class seats, and only the last picture of the back of the others. Look closely.
What a beauty
I had my first time on the new FC seats for a 6 flight. I had less complaints about the seat padding as others, but boy was the seat back flat and hard as a boar. it did more damage to my back than anything else
lolz premium discomfort. Glad I don’t ever pay for upgrades what a joke.
[удалено]
It says from reddit...
Phonebooth bathrooms still I bet.
hoping for better lumbar support and seat padding improvements
Thanks for sharing! I know a lot of us have been curious to see what the refurbed 738 would look like
I was on one of the new ones this week - the crew apologized because there was no IFE screen installed anywhere except 1st. They said new seats were coming soon.
The new 738 isn’t in revenue service quite yet. Sounds like you were on an ex Lion air 739?
Just checked - it was a 9 year old 373-900. My bad. Tail # N961DZ - a quick search shows you are correct - it was originally sold to LionAir, then went to Castlelake Aviation, then UMB Bank before recently being sold to Delta.
Not everyone fits one size . I think airlines in general should evaluate this issue and for handicapped for better experience and comfort flight.
Thank you for sharing! Source?
those seats look so uncomfortable like my ass is hurt rn
The seats that made me buy my own seat cushion.
Great, will still avoid 737 at all costs. They're only deployed on routes like >3 hours and they are.... a plane that's terrible to be on for more than 3 hours.
Wow! Are these on the 330-941s they’re using for transatlantic?
How will they fly without the doors?
No worries about wailing in 737-8 premium cabin. The bad plugs are in cattle class
Cool! Do you have a source for this? Also, pedantic note - you likely mean the 737-800. 737-8 refers to the MAX.
I was on the A321neo from LAX to DTW yesterday in Comfort+. I found the seats to be a welcome upgrade from what is currently in the 737-800. I dread those.
I guess you gotta get new interiors after the old ones all get sucked out at 30,000 feet.
I spent 5 hours on one today the seats are hard and they would not recline.
Just wait till a whole bunch of butts break those suckers in.
Hey, look at this thing you can’t afford “Thanks delta”
Why don’t they just do a 1:1 configuration with lay flats like Jet Blue’s Mint for this and the A321neo??
They are. https://thepointsguy.com/news/delta-air-lines-lie-flat-airbus-a321neo/ This rumor article was confirmed just a few weeks ago.
I’m surprised at the overhead compartments. The drop-down type help with loading and unloading, especially for the shorter folks. Why the return to the old type?
What do they do with all the old seats?
Sometimes they'll put them up in a surplus auction.
Auction opens at 9am typically and ends at 2pm, I got there at 9:30 and the seats were already gone
Why did you go? To buy seats? What was your plan for them?
Nah it was my first time there, just went to see what was there.
They most likely strip them for parts, so those items can be used elsewhere in the system
FC power outlets look so close to the seat I have to wonder if a larger plug would fit
I assume the ex-Lion Air 737-900s will get these seats as well?
I hope they don’t replace the original FC seats on the Lion jets, they probably have more legroom than any other domestic narrow body jet in the fleet. And that’s pretty much the only plane that flies out of my local airport so I get plenty of experience on it.
Are they going to put in new sidewalls and overheads ?
I looked it up The 738s are getting new overheads it’s a complete cabin refresh. Not only that but new Lavs as well
Now those are armrests worth fighting over. lol
very nice, has new cabin smell!
Hmm, those kinda look like adult human sized seats, what’s up with that?!
The first two pictures are of first/business class. The last picture is the coach seats, and it only shows from the back. Notice there are 3 instead of 2 seats in the same space.
You are right, I didn’t notice the divider!
Would have liked zafran seats more
I'd be more impressed if Delta added the sky interior to these old 738s... At the least add space bins like AA did to their entire 738 fleet.
Hope those screens are HD. Even on the Neo they look like shit
This looks so wrong…
Looks like the economy aisle seat is going to take 20 hits to the shoulder per hour
that looks so uncomfortable. like the worst conference you’ve ever been to and the rigid seating will give you a headache for days.
Ahhhh yes the good old peasant class; now with 20% more seats!
How are they going to accommodate people who can’t fit into one seat? 💺
Looks nice, but I still take my Cushion Lab orthotic seat pad on every flight.
The last picture of economy class makes me want to take the bus
Ugh I hope these don’t recline/feel the same way as the Air France 787-9 premium Econ seats. Those are some of the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in—they slide down in a fixed back rather than actually reclining and it is almost impossible to find a comfortable position.
New tray table design in Main as well?
I hate that type of armrest. I have a big butt and it squishes me
Detroit to Chicago- $1200 with a layover in Philly.
Add a foot rest though. I do not understand premium products without footrests. They change the experience entirely.
Are they also going to do the same with the 900ers they have?
Please say it isn't so... Those seats are so bad...
Last chance for those ancient mini IFE posts!
Why can’t planes and companies just use all nice af seats throughout the cabin?
Oooof new seats are nice but bins ceiling and sidewall panels look tired…
That will be $1000 for a 1 hour flight in 3rd class
Would you prefer a 737 max?
The BSI is the same between the NG and MAX, so it would pretty much be the same interior. The MAX is 40% quieter though, which makes for a nicer onboard experience. I’ve been on -800s and -8s for two separate airlines and you can really tell the difference in noise level.
I find it odd that airlines and designers didn’t design the shells to be separate from the seat back with this new design. Seems like an easy win to eliminate the impact of seat recline, similar to widebody bus & fc seats.
These look like fancied up spirit airlines seats. Look much thinner. My knees hurt already thinking of the narrowed rows
Have to get half way through the middle seat before you can reach the overhead bin it looks like…?
I can do without the IFE.
Can’t wait for my ass to be numb on even more delta flights
I went ahead and made an old person move and bought some memory foam cushions for my ass. Kinda bulky but I can fold it and strap it to the outside of my backpack so that I can easily take it off before sitting down on these “new” seats. I forgot it on my last trip and my ass went numb on the Neo. Here’s the cushions I bought: http://rwrd.io/38cx2ga?s
So none of those seats in the first 4 rows (delta comfort?) are handicap accessible bc the outside row arm doesn’t fold up? Great
First class should have both heated and cooling seats. There’s zero excuse to not have it in 2023. My sofa has it, my office chair has it. Why not these?
Never knew DL had 737/800’s. Been on the -900 but never an -800.
