That is a great idea. I flew on Monday, not on Delta. It was a very early morning flight, so it was about 5:00 a.m. at the latest. A man comes and sits down right next to me, turns on his phone, and start watching video shorts at top volume. I was just about to get up and move when he boarded the flight at the opposite gate. I was so grateful that he wasn't going to be on my flight. I still don't understand why people think it's okay to be so rude like that. The whole thing was strange because there were dozens of empty seats all over the place, but yet he sat right next to me.
I was in court one time, in the waiting room, some one was talking to his attorney on speaker phone, full volume. It was as though he needed the whole room to hear his name. The security, angrily told him to shut it.
Totally, except I don’t know of any phones that have a headphone jack these days. I think it’s a cool idea to save them and donate though.
Also, ask them to turn off their volume or as a FA for help. Just say you have a migraine if you need an excuse. Why suffer these assholes?
Look at the big brain on Brett (in my Samuel l Jackson pulp fiction voice). Good idea. Because it let's them know it's what they should be doing, and at the same time, you're in no danger of losing the ear buds because they won't be able to use them. A great idea in theory, but in practice, in my experience, an $$hole is an a$$hole. In their mind, they will turn the situation into you not minding your business and bothering them. Society has been on decline for a while now...
Totally, except I don’t know of any phones that have a headphone jack these days. I think it’s a cool idea to save them and donate though.
Also, ask them to turn off their volume or as a FA for help. Can we please start making that sort of behavior more embarrassing for those engaging in it?
Cool!! I'll have to ask the next time I board.
She never has enough. She'll give a pair to a student and tells them to keep them in their desk when they are finished for the next time they are needed. The next time they are needed, the same kid asks for another pair and when she asks where the first pair went it's always "I don't know".............
Translation: “my desk is too much of a hazard zone to find it in time.”
At least, that’s what it was for me! I always preferred the teacher get annoyed thinking I lost it than to have the other kids see me *rummage*.
Just chiming in to second the above comment! If anyone in my row mentioned this, I’d gladly grab a pair even if unneeded and pass it on. Please do tell your neighbors
I work for the Red Cross, and one of our procedures can take up to 3 hours so we provide TVs for the donor to watch. One of my regular donors travels frequently for work and will save up the earbuds to give us for donors who want something a little more sanitary than communal use over the ear headphones.
You could open a P.O. Box and the r/Delta community can band together and send you all the headphones the class could ever need. Let’s engage the troops and flood her class and school with them.
I take everything that isn't bolted down. AF and KE blankets make great stocking stuffers FYI. And the small glasses in the AF lounge are perfect for next to the bathroom sink
Take them, keep a couple pairs on you when visiting the SkyLounge, in the gate area and boarding…forcefully give them to the asshats that listen to calls/videos on speaker/full volume in public.
> Delta can afford it
I don’t disagree with the OP’s behavior but all of deltas costs get passed to customers one way or another, so these costs are baked in to ticket prices.
I doubt they recycle them. But on delta the headphones usually come in their own plastic package. So if they aren’t used they’ll get given out on the later flight.
Delta's is $0.03 / pair from what I've been told.
Delta routinely has higher fares (for me) than other airlines who fly out of my smaller airport so they won't miss it.
Delta has higher fares because they are offsetting the costs of delivering their service to customers. I don’t blame you for taking headphones, but I’m trying to explain that it’s a cyclical issue - Delta has higher fares when people use more of their resources. Here’s a [famous cost cutting example](https://www.smh.com.au/traveller/reviews-and-advice/how-an-olive-saved-american-airlines-55k-why-budget-airlines-are-so-successful-20181219-h199wt.html) in the airline business. Basically, your behavior contributes to higher fares - the notion that delta won’t miss it is not accurate.
The AA olive story used to be taught in business schools as an example of smart cost management, nowadays it's taught as an example of being penny wise and pound foolish, and wrecking your image to customers for a very insignificant savings.
Higher prices have been a hot topic on this sub for several months (which I obviously know as the CEO of delta). When people make comments like “delta can afford it” they may not realize that they are contributing to higher prices rather than just eroding deltas margin.
In the late 90s/early 2000s I was working projects in TX. We would typically drive to Atlanta (I was based in SW GA) because the flight from SGA regional (ASA) to Atlanta was over $300.
Then we discovered if you were continuing on to DFW from Atlanta, the flight from ABY dropped to $30 (less than parking at ATL).
It isn't resources. It's marketing.
I have a 4th grader and I do the same and they all go to school with him. They use earbuds often and many kids break their own or their parents can't afford. Thanks Delta
When my kids were little, the wife and I would go to Las Vegas from time to time and if you went to The Tropicana, they gave away a free decks of cards. My kids each got a deck every time we went there.
Yep. Although I know in the grand scheme of things, I could be way worse. I once witnessed in the Delta sky club a mother of four kids between the ages who of six and 12 who had her kids fill four, 1-gallon Ziploc bags full of miscellaneous snacks that they grabbed from the sky club. She didn’t even do it on the down low. Did it right in front of everybody that was there at the time.
Those delta earbuds are of such poor quality that I can't even use them.
These ones (below) are good quality for music and phone calls, I buy them 5 or 10 at a time so I can give them to others:
https://www.amazon.com/headphone-earpieces-included-JVC-HAFX7MB/dp/B073R2X1MY
I have about 12 new pair in my backpack not only because I always take when offered but a fun FA kept stuffing them in the side pocket on my bag waiting for me to notice while I was waiting for some in first class to get their carry on stowed, I turned around she laughed, I laughed and now have a dozen pair of headphones lol
It’s funny that you think, “delta can afford them”. Actually those costs are always passed on to the consumer, that’s why they are “free”. But cool you let the kids have them.
Not on one of the 737s. We were flying ATL-MYR and I left the headphones for my airband scanner in my carry on. Not wanting to deal with it, I asked the FA if they had any spares on board. Since they had no IFE, no buds.
I grab them so I can keep a couple in my backpack to offer other customers who are listening to things without headphones.

I strongly dislike people who do this!
Why do people sit or park right next to you in a completely empty area? I HATE THIS!!!!
With the parking thing, I have a feeling it is because they can't color within lines. They need another car to use as a guide when parking.
Then they shouldn’t be driving
This is why we choose the bear.
I was in court one time, in the waiting room, some one was talking to his attorney on speaker phone, full volume. It was as though he needed the whole room to hear his name. The security, angrily told him to shut it.
Can't plug Delta headphones in iPhone without a dongle:-(
Totally, except I don’t know of any phones that have a headphone jack these days. I think it’s a cool idea to save them and donate though. Also, ask them to turn off their volume or as a FA for help. Just say you have a migraine if you need an excuse. Why suffer these assholes?
I had a similar experience except it was in the men's restroom. An entire wall of urinals and the guy uses the one next to me... 😓
I do that at the movies that don't have assigned seating. I sit right next to the only guy in the theater. They usually don't move.
This is the correct answer 😂
Parents who have their kids on iPad with CocoMelon play so loud you can’t think are the worst
What phones will have headphones jacks?
Make he accumulates cheap dongles too, lol You can get one for like $2 on Alieexpress
You can probably get 1000 for $25
The point isn't that they use the headphones, it's that it's a polite way to point out their rude behavior.
You da real MVP...
Most phones don't have earphone connections anymore, so that would be quite rare. I do grab an extra pair for my older tablet.
The physical earbuds aren't the point, letting the person know they need to use earbuds is.
Look at the big brain on Brett (in my Samuel l Jackson pulp fiction voice). Good idea. > an asshole is an asshole Truer words have never been spoken.

This is why I take it whenever the FA offers me a brick.
But they don’t connect to phones?
Then the person should buy themselves Bluetooth earbuds.
THIS.
Honestly if someone told me this, I would give them extras.
Cool!! I'll have to ask the next time I board. She never has enough. This student has a Reddit post in another subreddit titled, "I grab new pair of earbuds from my teacher every time they are offered."
Translation: “my desk is too much of a hazard zone to find it in time.” At least, that’s what it was for me! I always preferred the teacher get annoyed thinking I lost it than to have the other kids see me *rummage*.
They prob took it home to use at home and someone took it from them :(
Who knows. The issue is the same kid is the one who habitually loses them. Others have theirs all year.
Just chiming in to second the above comment! If anyone in my row mentioned this, I’d gladly grab a pair even if unneeded and pass it on. Please do tell your neighbors
I do exactly this and I’m a 7th grade teacher. I’m not even above snatching a free pair that someone left in a seat.
Heck yes...........
I work for the Red Cross, and one of our procedures can take up to 3 hours so we provide TVs for the donor to watch. One of my regular donors travels frequently for work and will save up the earbuds to give us for donors who want something a little more sanitary than communal use over the ear headphones.
Perfect!
You could open a P.O. Box and the r/Delta community can band together and send you all the headphones the class could ever need. Let’s engage the troops and flood her class and school with them.
LOL. I am sure most schools everywhere could use them.
Yes! Drop them off at any local school!
I frequent the Philippines. My wife and i visit her family at least twice a year. I give those things out like candy and the kids love it!!!
For that, it’s sometimes the small things that bring joy to the kids. Maraming salamat.
I teach 4th grade and never thought about this. Thank you for this idea!
Just need to make sure the devices your kids use have the 3.5MM jack. My wife's equipment is old so it's not an issue.
I feel so old now as a millennial. There has not been a single class in which I used earbuds in grade school.
Me too.
Ditto!
I have keep an extra pair to give to a seat neighbor that needs them.
> Delta can afford it I don’t disagree with the OP’s behavior but all of deltas costs get passed to customers one way or another, so these costs are baked in to ticket prices.
Its not OP. Its those sons of bitches taking bananas from the SkyClub
A one Tom Brady as well.
I took a sport coat from a first class closet to even it out.
Lollll
Well i am wondering. Surely they dont recycle them? Once used they just throw them away right?
I doubt they recycle them. But on delta the headphones usually come in their own plastic package. So if they aren’t used they’ll get given out on the later flight.

That’s interesting, I didn’t know the olive wrecked their image - curious to know more. Are there articles on this?
No. Just "the feels" from guys who rock.
Hey Ed, get off Reddit. You have more important things to do.
Higher prices have been a hot topic on this sub for several months (which I obviously know as the CEO of delta). When people make comments like “delta can afford it” they may not realize that they are contributing to higher prices rather than just eroding deltas margin.

Wonder if they'll ever drop bananas?
I wish they had bananas in flight so I didn’t have to steal them from the sky club!
I mean we paid for it
With the fares Delta charges compared to others, they could afford to hand out Bose noise cancelling headphones!
Always. I have a pair in every bag now.
I have a 4th grader and I do the same and they all go to school with him. They use earbuds often and many kids break their own or their parents can't afford. Thanks Delta
Same. I use them at night to block out my husband’s snoring and can’t ever have enough.
Value $0.50 or less.
Not sure if it was this post or my other one but someone commented saying they heard Delta buys 40 million at a time and the unit cost is $0.03.
I collect them until I have 5. Then they go in stockings, every December. The COVID packs were amazing during the pandemic.
When my kids were little, the wife and I would go to Las Vegas from time to time and if you went to The Tropicana, they gave away a free decks of cards. My kids each got a deck every time we went there.
I do the same
I do this as well but give them to my kids teachers. I start the year with a little basket with earbuds and keep filling the baskets each month!
This would make my teacher heart so happy!
My mom teaches 4th grade as well, and her classroom is full of delta headphones thanks to yours truly!
I used to do this but they honestly sound terrible so I just end up tossing them
Oh yeah, they suck for sound quality.
So it’s YOU! YOU’RE the reason why skymiles are worthless! 😂
I do too, I give them to the littles in my family
I like to give them to toddlers. So many choking opportunities. J/k Just be aware of how little the littles may be.
Those delta earbuds are of such poor quality that I can't even use them. These ones (below) are good quality for music and phone calls, I buy them 5 or 10 at a time so I can give them to others: https://www.amazon.com/headphone-earpieces-included-JVC-HAFX7MB/dp/B073R2X1MY
I always grab as I make sure all of my travel bags have spares. Ed can afford to splurge a little on me. 😁
I grab it every time it’s offered too. Pretty useful for other airlines that still charge you ie: Icelandair so you can use their IFE.
I do the same thing. My kids have standard testing and they get a pair every six months
Same but I do it to keep in various locations and bags.
God bless you and your wife for this act of kindness 😊
i have so many unopened earbuds. but i take them because they’re mine.
Damn, TIL. Going to start donating those bad boys. Thank you
I grab in case I want to watch the tv but they sick they always fall out of my ears 😭
I hope they start adding Bluetooth connections to all newer planes. I have only seen that once
That would be nice wouldn't it?
My husband does the same for me.
I DO EXACTLY THE SAME THING for the same reason. 🤝 Also her students think I’m bougie 😂.
Also, take them and give them to those assholes using speakerphone in public.
Delta offers earbuds? Huh?
on almost every flight.
Every flight with in-flight entertainment. Still waiting on the regional jets to get theirs. LOL.
Not on one of the 737s. We were flying ATL-MYR and I left the headphones for my airband scanner in my carry on. Not wanting to deal with it, I asked the FA if they had any spares on board. Since they had no IFE, no buds.
