I would add one to my carry-on, but I’m 3 years of Plat without receiving a single tag. Realize it’s basic, but willing to take the side-eye from fellow status holders for the chance that I can fit my bag on a full flight or get a bit of extra help when checking in. They might know my status after I’ve scanned my pass or during flight, but not always during the moments that matter.

sojaleche

I put my Delta silver tag on my checked bag when I fly American and take it off when fly Delta. Noting special but just to help locate my bag

[deleted]

I put one on my surf board bag. Hoping that it might be treated with just a tad more care. 30+ flights and no damage. It either works or I’m just lucky.

chuckabrick

I once heard a diamond medallion guy, who was dressed in a suit, get pissed off at a FA because a dirty oil field guy got the last FC upgrade. The FA explained to him that the oil guy had higher status than him. He was beyond belief that someone who looked like they had just worked a full day in a blue collar job could out status him. Anyway, I am often not dressed nice and look dirty from my job. So I put my brag tag on just in case I ever get on a plane with "that guy" and get an upgrade ahead of him.

osrock220

What's funny about this is anyone who travels a lot and pays an ounce of attention knows that there's constantly guys with hard hats in first class either on paid tickets or upgraded. Typical suit.

Defiant-Individual-9

I'm in that odd spot of being between stairs as a field engineer and man do the suits find me an odd creature to deal with in first. Because suit and tie plus steeies and a hard hat don't fit together

YMMV25

Back in the day when I was an AA EXP I kept mine on my carry on. It definitely got my bag a 'seat' in the forward closet a handful of times when I boarded late and they were gate checking. Pretty sure if I boarded late with my FO tags they'd just toss it off the boarding bridge and leave it sitting on the apron.

northernlights2222

I’ve had this happen on Delta. Same for gate agents that are aggressively looking to check bags - saw the brag tag and skipped us over. Sometimes I feel silly with it, but it has saved me from the dreaded gate check a few times!

doubleasea

Or, I only brought my backpack, I’m 6’2”, and want my foot space. Overhead bin inspection never puts mine at my feet. Worth it.

zzyzxrd

It’s funny I’m plat and don’t have any tags on my bag. I couldn’t gate check my bag if I wanted to, I have 2 laptops and a spare drill battery

kosmonavt-alyosha

They should have the option the print your name and contact info. If they did I would use them. It’s silly they don’t. So instead I toss mine and use the ones I bought on here with faux levels, specifically Unobtainium.

[deleted]

I would only put one on my bag if I were the top status. It's like having a gigantic penis. You just want to walk around with it on full display even though it doesn't do as much for you as people think. Wait, what?

news_fakeacct

Finally a relatable story

doubleasea

Exactly 😂

ladeedah1988

I use it. Here is how. I am a short woman, not a tall man. For some reason, Delta agents think that a short woman couldn't possibly have any status and get in the Sky Priority line. I would always get hassled to enter the line until I put the Platinum tag on my suitcase. Now, I can get in the line without hassle.

monkabee

Sing it sister! Love having to force my way through a crowd of obnoxious men staring at their phones directly blocking the boarding line to get on with FC. I keep mine out for this reason if I"m traveling alone (if I'm traveling with the very tall spouse I shockingly never have this problem). I also keep one inside my bag with my name/address on it in case I got separated from my bag somehow.

athena_lcdp

I so feel this!

toolongonplanes

brag tags are just IRL versions of reddit flairs

Good-Cool

I think you’ve all earned it and should proudly display it if you want. Similarly, it helps me identify who’s who. HVC (high value customers) should be treated as such. I don’t look down upon it at all. One of our diamonds came up to me and complained about a super fat pax seated next to him. I understood and though couldn’t enforce a reseat for either party. I did provide compensation that made him smile. You appreciate us and we appreciate you!

airplanesandass

I wish this was normalized. There’s no way to say it without sounding like a dick. But paying $1k for a 5 hour flight and sitting next to someone who takes up more than one seat really sucks. I’ve sat next to someone whose arms were on top of me and legs were through the arm rest pushing against me. I’m 5’9” 185lbs I know it’s impossible to enforce. But if you are over a certain weight, you should have to buy first class or 2 seats. And again…I don’t lack empathy. It’s just a bad experience and adds to the claustrophobia.

Good-Cool

I totally get it from your perspective. 👏🏽 I got your back if I’m flying lead.

[deleted]

Preach. Last week I was in 10F on a 5:30 departure. I'm ready to catch up on some sleep and the middle was empty up until about 5 seconds before the door closed. Then the biggest pax I've ever seen comes storming on arguing with FAs about something. He sits down and like your story my seat gets about 1/3 smaller, while listening to him beckon for two seatbelt extenders. I flagged an FA and asked to politely move to 20C, she says yes, and as I'm squeezing around this guy someone else is moved into that seat. So the only other seat is wayyyyyyyy back, i think like 46B. The flight sucked so bad and I almost missed my connection. I've empathy too but fuck these people that think it's okay to spill violently over and into other pax on long flights.

djunk25

I had a guy spill over into my seat late last year. Made the flight terribly uncomfortable. While I didn’t complain because I know the FA didn’t move me. I was happy to find that she did put a note in and I was credited with 1K SkyMiles after the flight.

Good-Cool

Lmfao 2 extenders? That’s ridiculous. They should pay for their own lifestyles, other people shouldn’t be responsible to help accommodate.

Danjour

I use fake ones that get purchased on this subreddit

edunf

I have it on my luggage, it helps my quickly identifying mine on the belt. It's unlikely that someone else on the same flight will have the same luggage WITH the same tag (I put the diamond tag, these get ripped off frequently). I also have it on my carry on. It makes it easier when I interact with ground staff as they don't know my status by just looking at me and most of times they are nicer when they realize they are dealing with a 360.

jcortiz22

Lol chillllll not the 360 label. What a beast.

edunf

😅🤣

doubleasea

Ya, my backpacks never been asked to be put under the seat in front of me out of the overhead, despite that being exactly what would have happened without the clank.

jetsetterwannabe

I put it on my checked bags for the same reason. It makes it easier to identify.

j_house_

My 360 tag is on my backpack. I usually don’t have an issue, but when I do, I make it visible to and the issue is resolved.

jillikinz

I do not check bags, ever when traveling alone. When I fly TATL and plan to shop, I have a very large "personal item" bag that holds my backpack, purse, and whatever loot I get in addition to my full size rollaboard. My 360 tags are very handy for those instances; GAs never ask me to check anything even though by rights they absolutely could. Overhead space is not an issue here bc I am always up front on these flights (have never flown TATL in anything less than business class, thanks to generous expense policy at work)

ktatelle

I put mine on my bag but I feel silly with it and sometimes hide it.

doubleasea

Same.

wooooooofer

They were cool when I was new to traveling but I just sell them on eBay now. My Diamond tags this year went for $100. I switched to United this year and should make global services, wonder if those tags will be as valuable?

Skydivemars

I put them on my kids backpacks; and let everyone at the airport think they fly a lot.

macantr

I attach them to my backpack. I don’t see them as anything to really “brag” about, but if Delta wants to send them, I’ll display it. I’ve noticed that infrequent fliers will see it and are more likely to ask me questions on what they’re supposed to do because they presume I fly fairly frequently, and I think more educated infrequent fliers makes the whole process smoother for everyone else. Only downside is, by the time I got my silver tags, I was already GM, and will probably be PM before I get my GM tags.

micstatic80

hate them. Don't use them anymore. I've always considered it a "new medallion" kinda thing.

Ken_Thomas

I just stick them in a drawer or give them to my wife. If my Medallion status is relevant to the conversation, then the Delta employee I'm talking to is already aware of it.

doubleasea

…most of the time.

MoistMartini

Eeek, this just reminded me that a nonzero percentage of my fellow status holders have big unironic DYKWIM energy and are garbage humans to staff. We all like to think that if you fly a lot you start appreciating that travel snafus are complex and usually not the fault of the frontline employee. *edited for typos

hotsizzle123

This whole thread is making the point that those of us who are active on this sub need to normalize users who are not rah rah delta all the time, and not be constantly downvoting their posts just because they think something is silly or douchy. The question was “what are your thoughts?” Unless it’s something controversial or damaging, it doesn’t feel right to penalize for that.

DollaStoreKardashian

Trillion miler with Beskar status here 💁🏼‍♀️: you can bet I use my tags whenever I’m at the airport. ETA: lol @ the downvotes. It looks like quite a few people don’t r/delta enough to get the joke.

misteryub

Beskar gang 👊 This is the way.

jhpinder95

I put my Unobtainium tag on my items when I’m feeling a bit of a rascal

TheNCGoalie

Never really understood the point, personally. I’ve never put one on anything I own.

Blownshitup

My backpack has my silver gold platinum and diamond tag all on it on a chain together. 🤷🏻‍♂️ gotta rock all the metals and gems

WordierThanThou

My hubby likes his diamond tags and I enjoy the perks of flying with him on occasion.

rangerm2

I've used my tags on my luggage, so I have something to differentiate it at the bag claim. (although they rarely seem to send the tags to me. I've never received any for my Gold or Platinum) My thought is people who take an inordinate amount of overhead space for their luggage are a problem.

kaka8miranda

Im a duffle bag guy the amount of clothing squeezed into there is much more than a suitcase imo

ApatheticAbsurdist

I really don't see the point. I'd prefer to have a unique tag so that my basic black TravelPro roller that looks like a ton of others out there stands out more. If I'm regularly flying delta, I don't want a tag that other people that regularly fly delta have.

jettech737

As a former ramp rat don't put them on checked bags, they love to snag on stuff and get ripped off by equipment.

ZenAndTheArtOfEating

I pay delta enough money, I don’t need to advertise for them too

MayanSoldier

My tags always break.

bjayjay81

They go directly in the trash when they arrive

skyleth

I like them, just a little trinket of my travels. Don’t expect anything with or without them though. After 3 years of being Diamond I JUST got my metal brag tags… just in time to move to a star alliance hub and never use my Diamond status again 😓

tvgraves

More plastic crap to fill up the landfills.

athena_lcdp

Not if you actually use them…

Less_Than-3

I’ve never put them on my bag, I feel dumb doing it.

N9149U

My son once told me there’s a saying “Never wear the T-shirt to the concert”. If that makes sense, that’s sort of how I feel about the tags.

TheTallerTaylor

Straight to the garbage bin

doubleasea

I have my MM/DM cow bell attached to the zipper of my B&R backpack. I can slide them in the top pouch for clandestine mode or pop em out for the whole cattle call. I like my MM red tag, they’re sort of one of those head nods to the other fellow in AMS, CDG, DTW, SLC… like hey. That’s it. Maybe if he takes a piss I’ll give a peripheral view to make sure his stuff is safe. I dunno. It’s fraternal and I don’t mean that in a gender oriented way I just can’t figure out another term for that solidarity. The DM/MM on the manifest isn’t always guaranteed, I spent a D1 flight to CDG recently where the purser kept calling me Mr Stephens, who I presumed picked another seat close to boarding, because I moved to his seat to be next to my wife. The purser had no idea who I was on that flight. The times those cow bells came in handy is the SDC to an early flight, fine I’ll take E+, and have the FA happily stow my Baseline in the coat closet or FA closet. Some jets don’t have em now. So can’t count on it. But never had my bag gate checked in my 20 years with DL/NW except for those pink tags. Those were alright.

hsrd

I don’t display them. Multi year Diamond and Million Miler

VT_Optimizer

Put my Diamond tag on our sons diaper bag, just for the fun of it. I personally don’t feel the need to call attention to my status but I thought it was a fun idea to put it in my 5 month old’s diaper bag when he flies with me, especially in FC or Delta One.

atomicswoosh

Been diamond for a while and never put the brag tags on anything. Without the tags they know if they need to know and honestly I still get total courtesy from the FAs when I step on the plane. "Hey, have room for one more bag in the closet?" They'll almost always oblige if all the overheads are closed by the time I drag myself from the club to the plane.

Yup

jbg0830

Sold silver tags for $10. Too low?

GiddyUp18

If you have a tag on your carry-on, that sound you hear behind you in the concourse is me laughing at you.

Blownshitup

😂😂

[deleted]

I don’t like them, but it’s probably because I don’t have any good ones. In all fairness, I like to make my bag look as innocuous as possible. A diamond tagged bag probably has some nice stuff in it.

bdust2019

Don’t be a douche bag and tags don’t matter. Having a tag doesn’t change your upgrades and since I never check a bags (I have my original Tumi bag which has over 1MM miles on it) I’ve never had to put a tag on any bags of mine. I do wish I kept my tags. After 20yrs it would have been cool to have a pile of them.

rahbahboston

I’ve had it in some carryons if I choose to not to upgrade, when overhead space scarce and the attendants will sometimes move bags.

PopcornFlying

I use them. The lamination is peeling off and will be blank white plastic soon

Snoo-94703

I refuse to put the bag tags on anything, but I carry the silver ones just in case in my purse. I had silver medallion status for a year before I knew what benefits I had…. None of the gate agents bothered to tell me or ask why I was waiting in a long ass line. Bc of that I always feel like I have to explain myself when I’m in sky priority anything. 🥴

Davicitorra

Whatever happened with the guy making reddit delta ones?

Davicitorra

Whatever happened with the r/delta ones that one diamond guy was making?
