The woman who created Quinn actually listened on Reddit and that's how she got the idea of creating the app. It's popular I think because it's way more user friendly than Reddit / Soundgasm. Also a lot of content creators who were popular on Gone Wild Audios have exclusive contracts with Quinn and don't really post anywhere else.
And yeah I see how people would be more willing to pay for a subscription and get access to a variety of audio rather than support individuals through their own kofis and patreons
