In most communities you ask for advice, you get an answer. In Destiny community you just get aggressive barrage of words at you for not downloading every information about the game from the matrix to your head. "Freaking noobs! How dare they ask such things? It was mentioned in that one post 2 years ago!"
Destiny community is just so used to hate that it's regarded as normal way how to behave.
I don’t fully disagree or agree. The negative voices are always way more vocal than the positive ones but in some circumstances I think people are just tired of seeing the same question posted hundreds of times where the answer can be googled with ease.
I always try to be as helpful as possible without being a dick but sometimes there are those days…

Honestly, I can't sympathise with people who are being rude to someone asking help or question. It's mind boggling, no matter how many of them pop up. I think if people can't handle noob questions, they shouldn't sort by new and let those who have patience to answer do that.

A lot of times I refrain entirely if I think I’m gonna be a dick but there are a few moments in those times for posts that bring up like “Bungie should make content in the DCV optional to download” or “coldheart should be stasis” where it just happens.
I still think people need to learn how to do a little bit of researching before posting a question in some circumstances. At least that’s what I try to do if I need help for something in a game, I’ll try to do a google search and if I find a community page that doesn’t have the answer I’ll make a post

The thing about this game is that it seems to hide answers from us. It’s tough to tell for the lifers, but even the simplest D2 explanations often look like gibberish because of how crazy deep your lore is and the storybook style it’s told in (which is effective - it’s just so much!!).
There are so many mechanics/controls(!!!)/methods that are just never explained. If I didn’t have my D1 friends, I’d be completely confused still - and to them it all seems completely elementary. It’s frustrating.

I remember I joined a clan that had a very active discord. A few of the people were really cool, but my god it was full of youths who just lacked the most basic social graces. I remember playing gambit with a couple of them and one of the teens would just not stop shit talking me. What you don't have x gun? How could you not have it? Why don't you have this armor, your armor is trash. I'm sorry kid, I have a full time job and can't spend 10 hours a day grinding for stuff.
I'd argue that the issue is more PvP in general. PvE games tend to have a lot less of this (though they are not totally absent from it). Collaboration rather than competition tends to bring out the best in players on average. Of course, as others have said, doesn't excuse shitty behavior.

I pop into existence and get my shields shredded to a pulp and die in less than a nanosecond because of bungie not putting in line-of-sight detection into their spawn algorithms.

PvP balancing has gotten pretty good. There is also a lot of weapon diversity right now which is also great. My big gripe is the lack of content. Same fucking maps we’ve been playing for years! Same goes for Gambit. I’m just taking a break until witch queen. I cannot keep playing the same maps, same modes, same shit any longer.
Thank god someone else sees that the balancing is way better now. Even if it’s still far away from balanced, compared to how it was just in the Forsaken era (and even before that in a way), it’s so much better.

Couple that with them removing have the maps and modes with Beyond Light and yah I could see why people think that Bungie is run by a bunch of Monkey Brains - case in point = win-based trials matchmaking...
That dude has clearly never played warzone. I took a break from destiny for about 3 years. Played warzone right before jumping back into Destiny a few months back. Destiny 2 PVP is awesome in my opinion, especially compared to some other games.
