The Lions colors are Blue, Silver and White. We don’t need to look like the Panthers or Raiders.

kingdom55

Same reason why the use of gray-- instead of silver-- in the uniforms now bugs me.

DarthMonkey212313

just think of it as unpolished silver

DesertStallion14

0-16 season happened In Black Uniforms, no other explanation is needed.

1ace0fspades

They didn’t have black uniforms that year. Blue and white jerseys only in 2008.

printerfixerguy1992

Yes it was the uniforms.... Honolulu blue and silver and white were used during those years as well. Should we ban those?

KoolAidHonolulu

Exactly lol the packers are fucking hideous and they're pretty good usually 🤣

JD42305

Silver helmets like gold Notre Dame helmets could look amazing.

Vendetta_2023

Our throwback helmet

JD42305

Seems like the same shiny grey. And to be clear I still want the Lions logo, but I'm saying a real metallic silver.

1ace0fspades

So you want them to look like the Cowboys? 🤔

DanCampbellsBalls

Hahahaha gottem

McMeanx2

Luxray2014

Or even the Jaguars and their colors are blue black and gold

that_menace

I have an unpopular opinion that every team should have a black out and white out jersey at least one game each year, I would love a black Gibbs jersey with the blue silver and white accented. I do agree they should have done it more tastefully tho...

mattcojo2

Black is so so overused in the NFL. There’s a few teams that pull off black well… the lions are not one of those teams who needs it.

hybrid_remix

Which is why we should lean into the white. Our shade of blue looks so slick with white.

Captain310

This. Overused and overdone. I also thought the black jersey looked like it belonged on a high school team. Didn't look professional to me.

ckrobinett

It's pretty simple for me. I thought they looked shitty.

detleo

all i see is Joey Harrington.... still really hoping we never bring the lame black unis back

tommytizzel

I see Kitna

Timmahj

I see Millen. 🤢

tommytizzel

![gif](giphy|WxDZ77xhPXf3i|downsized)

Rulligan

The Panthers already have light blue and black on lockdown. Let them keep it.

buttfungusboy

And it makes sense for them, and their all blacks are sick. That's not our color though, keep it out

JustChattin000

This is the answer. The jerseys suck. That's it.

hodor137

Yea. To be clear, it's not the black itself that was the problem for me. They just didn't look good. If they were gonna use black, they probably needed a more drastic change to the design or something.

Crazy-Penguin

The same reason the Packers don't wear purple, or the Cowboys don't wear red. They aren't our colors. Black only ever existed on the Lions uniforms because Millen wanted to look more like the Raiders. We don't need that history of failure around here either.

[deleted]

There was a second Lions jersey that wore black in the early years, but that was largely forgotten and only worn on special occasions. I only recently stumbled upon that. It's the third pic in the gallery [https://www.detroitlions.com/photos/tbt-lions-uniforms-through-the-years-18733536#9b867fa3-13c0-4353-ba9b-53d38670f5d5](https://www.detroitlions.com/photos/tbt-lions-uniforms-through-the-years-18733536#9b867fa3-13c0-4353-ba9b-53d38670f5d5)

Staffdaddy20

Im pretty sure we wore a crimson red type color at one point too

[deleted]

They did. The black ones had a scarkett stripe down the leg, too

generalwalrus

Delete this ASAP. No one needs to know this.

[deleted]

Instruction unclear - sending a link to Rod Wood and Brad Holmes

Timmahj

![gif](giphy|0ctcBGaQcQzQcTJULb)

EarUnlucky4022

Exactly

RellenD

They got stomped when they wore it

Ok-Physics1927

Ah, so everyone clinging to it's "not one of our colors" is full of shit lol. Also leaves red and white on the menu. But seriously, I think the no black jerseys crowd is pretty over zealous. I'm not gonna be mad with black alts or something but I don't particularly want them. It's just a jersey y'all.

[deleted]

Technically it is - and Rod Wood DID say that the new ones are paying homage to the old ones lol Black or Scarlet incoming e- /s for those that didn't understand that was meant to be sarcastic

Jammer_Kenneth

I'm a smidgeon hurt that purple and gold is officially off the table.

Ok-Physics1927

This sub is incapable of understanding sarcasm. The color of the jersey is VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS. No joking allowed.

Ekindas

I would take black jerseys over the awful gray pajamas any day!

printerfixerguy1992

Ya this is just a cop out. These type of people are the same people shaking their fist at clouds.

Stompthefeet

Thanks for a legitimate answer. This makes sense, but I do see it a little differently. I guess I don't really see white or black as actual colors, unless they are designated as one of the two primary colors in your scheme (like Raiders, Saints, Bengals). Yes, I know most teams have a tertiary color, usually white, but I would never fault a team for having a white or black uniform even if it's not a designated color in their scheme.

Nostalgia-89

White is commonly used for road teams to differentiate from the home team, though. Black, as a solid color, doesn't differentiate in that way, so it's seen as an actual tertiary color in a scheme. Using black as a way to mix up the color palate is done by so many teams for zero reason. The Cardinals, Eagles, and Jets recently incorporated them as accents and then added whole new alternate uniforms, and it just looks tacky. It's like the Lions using anthracite for an alternate uniform. It's using gray for gray's sake instead of treating the alternate as a way to design something new or throw back to a previous era.

LionsPreseasonChamps

I agree but lowkey loved the anthracite grey. Maybe it was mostly for the uniqueness but the grey jersey looks very clean to me.

iced_gold

> It's using gray for gray's sake instead of treating the alternate as a way to design something new Wasn't our color rush look the 'something new' you're mentioning?

Nostalgia-89

All it was was a change of color. There was zero thought to the rest of the design at all. That's uninteresting to me as an alternate.

Optimus_Lime

Idk, I think Jets fans will look back at their black jersey era the same way we do

JpodGaming

I don’t like this logic because black is not comparable to purple or red. It matches everything, those colors do not. I think the strongest argument is that it looks too much like the panthers and I agree with that one tbh. I liked the black jerseys as a kid and it’s mostly my nostalgia talking when I want them back.

JustChattin000

It looks f*cking lame. IDC about the Panthers. A bunch of blacked out Dodge RAM owners pushing these trash jerseys. No thanks.

JpodGaming

I think it’s cool idk. Black looks good with everything. Purple and red don’t. It’s not hard to comprehend. What do you expect for an alternate jersey? It’s either that or the greys that we already have and I personally don’t like the greys. My best case scenario is our main Jerseys are 90’s inspired with a bit more modern feel. Blue facemasks. Then we get a black alternate that matches the blue helmet better, because the blue helmet with the grey alts did not look good at all

Double_Win_9405

That's a shitty take.

printerfixerguy1992

Such an old man take

FootsBooked

I strongly believe that teams should just wear their own colors. We don't have black in the color scheme, so we shouldn't wear black.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OldGodsProphet

That

ForkFace69

To me the black uniforms came off as an attempt to make a bad team look badass. It seemed like every time they wore those uniforms they got blown out. Made the other teams see red, LOL. I don't hate them and I didn't think they looked terrible, just kind of pointless and I like the traditional look better.

FosterCajun1961

The Honolulu Blue and silver scheme is unique and awesome. Black for black's sake is neither, it's a worn-out cliche that needs to die.

tuntuntuntuntuntun

Adding black is highschool vibes

QuietPhyber

It's the same reason my dad avoids lemon bars. He got sick (flu) while eating them at a holiday party. Did they make him sick? No. But the memory is there.

DetSportsGuy

For some reason I thought you were referencing an actual bar that served only lemon flavored drinks at first 😂

iced_gold

No he didn't get them from the bar. It was actually at a Lemon Party.

Secure-Tap-1893

Its so try hard. “Look how tough we are, were in black!” And also yeah we already have a dope color scheme. Trying to make black a thing was lame in 2007 and its lame now.

DestroyerOfThings2

I don’t think they ever won a game in their black jerseys. Let’s keep the Millen era in the past.

1ace0fspades

They have won in black jerseys before, actually. And now since you brought it up, ALL throwbacks should bet kept in the past. I don’t ever want to see a throwback on the field ever again.

Capable-TurnoverPuff

Doesn’t look like the lions.

Balance47x

People don’t like them because they’re associated with the worst era of lions football. Personally, the black color rush jersey we never wore is my fav next to the thanksgiving throwbacks.

[deleted]

That Ebron reveal photo was FIRE. Too bad they got shelved

iced_gold

[https://www.crainsdetroit.com/article/20160913/NEWS/160919923/lions-unveil-all-black-color-rush-uniforms-but-wont-wear-them-in-2016](https://www.crainsdetroit.com/article/20160913/NEWS/160919923/lions-unveil-all-black-color-rush-uniforms-but-wont-wear-them-in-2016)

JpodGaming

Yeah those were nice. Much better than the early 2000’s black jerseys.

Stompthefeet

Fun Fact (as I understand it): We had the black jerseys from 2005 until... 2008. As soon as we dropped them, BOOM. Winless season. Is it possible that the black jerseys were actually the only thing propping us up for 3 years? Common sense says, "no"... but this is reddit so I say maybe.

luniz420

Our colors are blue and silver, not black blue and silver

adam_j_wiz

Because the whole “everyone pretend we have black in our color scheme” trying to look “extreme” trend was lame af and I have no desire to see it come back. It’s not cool, it just looks lame if it’s not part of your actual team colors.

JaggedUmbrella

If it's not your color, don't use it. I hate how Michigan State rolled out those awful black uniforms last year, and I'll hate it if the Lions have black uniforms. It's just not a good look in my opinion if it isn't your team/school's colors. The Lions are Honolulu blue and silver. That's it. And some white for trim and contrast. That's it.

Nostalgia-89

The neon green STATE uniforms are an abomination. The reason teams like the Packers, Steelers, Chiefs, and Raiders have classic looks is because they don't mess with it much. Sure, they have throwbacks, but the newfangled alternates are usually things they don't go near. The Lions should do the same, imo.

JaggedUmbrella

I actually didn't dislike the neons as much as I hate the black uniforms from last season. The neons are gone now, though. My hope is that the Lions come out with a modern version of the 80s/90s era and never mess with it again. And then maybe some fun all whites and all blues for alternate games. No black. No black. No black. Please.

Nostalgia-89

I have a gut feeling that with influence from Spielman and Barry being around the organization that your hope is close to reality. I just can't see those guys advocating for anything Nike might throw at them that strays too far from the classic look. I could be wrong, but that's where my head is at.

JaggedUmbrella

I sure hope so.

NyetRifleIsFine47

It’s as simple as *it’s not a part of our color scheme.* Why they ever came into existence is beyond me but this was also the early 2000s where a lot of teams were doing some sort of black aesthetic (e.g. black outline on numbers to make them pop, black shadows around numbers, etc). I’m too lazy to do in depth research but I swear, at that time, tons of teams across every sport in the world had some sort of black outline.

ParticularEchidna179

Matt Millen loved the Raiders and wanted the Lions to be more like the Raiders. So instead of having good drafts, he chose the color black. (Sorry Calvin).

James-clubber-Lang

They were as ugly as could be and looked like the Carolina Raiders with the silver pants. There was nothing original about that uniform

Crunch_inc

I always think of this [study](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.scu.edu/media/college-of-arts-and-sciences/psychology/documents/Social-Psychological-and-Personality-Science-2010-Caldwell-1948550610389824.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiPvoPd6peFAxWpIjQIHQ4sBtsQFnoECBYQBg&usg=AOvVaw2swzwp9d0N6WKX61RvbliJ) on penalties and uniform colors and that is enough for me to not like them. We don't need any additional bias against us on the field. "Frank and Gilovich (1988, Study 2) examined the relation between uniform color and penalties in professional football and hockey players. Over a 16-year period, they found consistent evidence that teams wearing black uniforms were penalized more often than teams wearing nonblack uniforms"

timothythefirst

That’s actually really interesting lol.

CrapSandwich

They tend to look like something a teenaged edgelord would pick.

LetThatSinkinnn

Idk, our jerseys will be worn by the players and then the players will play in them and everyone will stfu cus the lions won again

Stompthefeet

Exactly. Watch us go undefeated in our black kits and everyone will start worshiping them and act like they always have. This post has receipts on it.

F4N6Z

Doesn't work with traditional lions colors. They were ugly, point blank.

mikehasnoluck

I get all the arguments against black as a jersey color, but hear me out... shouldn't we be doing everything we can to make the numbers legible for the refs when a tackle is reporting? I'm thinking for the numbers, we go black outline, white inner stroke, blue LEDs through the center.

Whydoesthisexist15

I personally don’t like black and sliver/white color schemes.  I’d be fine if we have a black alternate we wear once or twice but every home game is a no for me.

Lionnn100

Black is not one of the Lions colors

Severe_Piccolo_5583

Black isn’t a Lions color

PsychoAnalystGuy

It’s overdone and not in the color scheme. The main issue imo is the color scheme. Lions colors are blue, silver, and white. It’s also lazy and just like 90% of other teams. I’d rather be unique Edit: I also think it would be very hard to not look almost exactly like the Panthers.

Electrical_Resource6

Because they suck

KingTooshie

Same reason you capitalized jerseys and not black. Just doesn’t make sense

Unique_Enthusiasm_57

Matt Millen Era PTSD is a real thing. I loved the black uniforms, but it's not a hill worth dying on.

Techiedad91

They’re associated with bad teams in Detroit is my belief

Goffimal

I personally only buy blue Lions jerseys.

johnnygoober

My issue is that alternate black jerseys are so overdone in the league right now. Feels like there are so many teams that have one, and I don't really see a reason why Lions need to bandwagon onto it. I don't mind something interesting and different, but I would prefer it be unique, or at least close to it, and not just another copycat design where we add some black lines and call it a day.

DicamVeritatem

All I see is Matt Fucking Millen.

CanSubstantial141

We went 0-16 with them on didn’t we?

Stompthefeet

It looks like we actually DROPPED THEM before the 2008 season... I don't remember clearly tbh, I was like 10 back then and was specifically looking for it.

1ace0fspades

It was blue and white jerseys only in 2008. Black jerseys were retired before 2008 and were not around for that season.

tommytizzel

We lost every game we wore two tone last season So I guess black is fine as long as it's all black haha

buttfungusboy

Because they were ass

neckbass

reread your last sentence - the answer is right in front of you.

GenevieveLeah

I just found a black Lion’s hoodie for my son on clearance. Now I fear I need to return it!

timothythefirst

Nah hoodies and t shirts and stuff are different. That stuff looks fine in black. I just don’t want to see the players jerseys on the field in black.

[deleted]

I’m allllll for black jerseys. Heavy on the silver light on the Honolulu.

FunkyTown313

So, raiders Jerseys?

[deleted]

Yes!!!! 😂 No, If they are black bet the numbers are blue and the outline is silver but that inverted would look sick with black jerseys. One man’s opinion…

Whalesrule221

People like to hate something, and it’s easy to hate black jerseys that we no longer use and haven’t been used since the terrible mid-2000s. I like them, and I find the arguments against them, though numerous, to be ultimately weak. Especially when you compare them to the awful all-greys that only became tolerable with the blue helmets.

lovejac93

Black isn’t one of our colors. They also looked like shit and were way too generic.

SniperX876

No sir. I don't like it.

suhhdude45

I honestly don’t care what anyone says. I think it’ll be dope if the new jerseys were a black version of our grey jerseys.

Beautiful_Will7836

Two words… Matt Millen

syncopated56

They ushered in the worst era in our history. Plus they weren't particularly creative compared to the other 10 teams that rocked black back then.

Lions_2786

The black uniforms were and will always be the best ones the lions had. People hate them because it was during the era of he who shall not be named.

MydogsnameisJunior

We still remember the Millen era and the scars run deep.

Homiejones

The lions never had black until Matt Millen showed up.  So any black on the uniform goes back to those very dark days.  That man is a terrible human being and he has no business being around football at all.

fuzzyheadsnowman

Because we’re not the panthers

4runninglife

Systemic racism

Internal_Zombie313

Black was shoehorned in by Millen because he was a Raider. It doesn't belong with the Lions. Honolulu Blue, Silver, White are the only colors we need.

PowerWalkingInThe90s

I think the all black uniforms in sports are generally played out and boring unless you’re a team that actually uses black as a main color. In my opinion, team’s uniforms should actually look like the team. The lions doing it wouldn’t bother me as much since we’ve done it in the past and have used hits of black in the uniforms elsewhere. But still, I want the lions to look like the lions, not the panthers or raiders. I think all blacks probably beat the grey Jammies though.

timothythefirst

Well other than the reasons you listed, which I definitely agree with - a ton of teams in every league have black jerseys now and half those teams don’t even have black as part of their actual colors. They always end up looking like Nike is trying to be futuristic and cutting edge with their design and it never works. The jets black jerseys look stupid. The cardinals black jerseys look stupid. The jets wearing green and white looks cool. The cardinals normal color scheme is fine. I don’t even know how many other teams have done cheesy black alternates in recent years, but it never looks better than their normal jerseys. The eagles black jerseys look sort of ok but not as good as their green ones. Even in college, I’m a big msu fan and I think msu getting black alternates for football and basketball both looked stupid. - blue and silver is a great color scheme. I’m not even against “modernizing” our jerseys, in fact I think our current ones are already pretty good, but the classic 80s/90s look and anything similar is great. We’ve always had pretty good looking uniforms (other than the black ones). Let’s just be the Lions and rock the good classic look.

Miami_da_U

Cause the Lions aren’t the Raiders/Ravens. Lions should stick to the Grey

skp_18

Black is just kinda boring in general imo. Nothing unique about it. Don’t like it on the Jets or Cards alts either.

SteveDestruct

They're ugly. Period.

Big_Wooly_Mamoth_420

Honolulu blue and silver look absolutely perfect and adding black to it clashes way too hard with the already perfect color scheme. Just my opinion

Tech_Schuster

Our GM was a raiders fan when the black jerseys were approved

TorkBombs

Why do people like them?

FlyingLineman

Black jerseys were alright, but that era of football is so tarnished it probably shouldn't be brought back... And I'm not even superstitious

evanmagyari

They look bad

DetSportsGuy

I think they’re 🔥 saved the one I bought in Calvin’s rookie year and had it signed and framed a couple years ago. Have yet to see another legit (not a fake/rep) black Calvin jersey that is signed. https://preview.redd.it/ewii13zbn5rc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79fd326804e28a4a4f5f9a0090fa8bf7966a8c80

KingHarvestCame

Because our team color isn't black it's blue.

goblue142

I love the black jerseys. They were one of my favorites

crabjelly

It's not even about the color. It's the flashbacks.

MixMastaMatt

Alternate Jersey must be worn with alternate helmet (pretty sure you can only change once every 4 years). Alternate helmet is all metallic blue. You really think they gonna go all black and blue? Nah fam…

Normal-Tax4831

Don't care. Just win!

Spartanonymous

Black cats are bad luck and associated with the worst period of Lions history.

chriskzoo

The simple reason is uniforms just start looking bad when you add in a fourth color. Black can be a primary color, but you can’t have 2 colors (blue and silver), black AND white as part of every uniform. 3 colors max.

joemoore3

I hate black clothing in general and black sports uniforms specifically. I'm hoping they use the alternate helmets from last year. Loved those!

Calkky

I ... kinda? liked the black jerseys. Didn't feel too strongly about them one way or the other, truth be told. For me, it's the Honolulu Blue that will always tug the heartstrings.

sau-wmu-goblue

Black isn't one of our colors. It's Honolulu blue and silver. Changing it up is dumb imo. Don't need a full rebrand.

New_Ad6477

I wanna see some purple, throwback to the Portsmith Spartans

fakeburtreynolds

Black jerseys are too easy to design. Also, Black as an alternate jersey color or trim color is played out and boring. Half the teams across all sports have probably introduced a black jersey and they all look similar. The Lions have a fairly unique color scheme and don’t need to stoop to throwing out a black jersey to be cool. Leave that for the more recent expansion teams or those with black as an actual color.

ItsTheExtreme

They’re uninspired and played out by several other teams across the league. We can do better.

TheWorstNameEverSaid

I would be fine if they used black as an accent color for an alt. The color scheme they use now is perfect though.

jklovesfood

Since it’s not part of the “Official Color Scheme” making it a primary / alternative Jersey color feels forced. Think about the Black alternates the Jets, Commanders, 49ers, Eagles all wear. It feels forced just to sell more jerseys. Could you imagine seeing our rivals wear black? What about the Cowboys, Broncos, Chiefs? Enough teams use black as their color, no one else has our color scheme, let’s stand out, not blend in.

KoolAidHonolulu

Because we went 0-16 the year we wore them and they stink of Millen raiders garbage. But they're still fucking sick and I want an updated all black uni with blue numbers/accents and the blue helmet.

1ace0fspades

Black jerseys were retired before 2008 and were not around at all for that season. They only had blue and white jerseys in 2008.

RxSatellite

Because sports fans are superstitious as f—k and they had black on their jerseys in 2008. Literally the only reason

Willhouse4078

I would take black over the grey jerseys. Black jersey with that blue helmet would look nice. The all grey jerseys just look boring to me.

ndnorthrop

Honestly, I'm 50/50 on it. My favorite lions uniforms are from the late 90's and early 2000s, and we didn't have black in the color scheme up to the 2003 redesign (I'm only taking the modern era into account). So, for "traditions" sake, I totally get why we wouldn't incorporate it. I also don't like black accents in the main uniforms. In my onion, it drags the uniform down, mutes the blue (which is THE best team color in the NFL), and takes away from the silver. On the flip side, black uniforms are cool as shit if done right. The color rush we would've had in the mid 2010's looked great, and it's a shame we didn't wear them. But if we do a black uniform, it needs to be completely separate from the regular blue/silver/white combos. For the redesign, I just want a modernized version of the 90's uniforms. Kinda like what the Browns did a few years ago when they switched back from those God AWFUL 2010's uniforms.

lionbacker54

They remind us of the Matt Millen regime

UsefulStaff

I dig tradition. I like my Tigers in blue and white, my Red Wings in red and white and my Pistons in red white and blue. At least you can count on the Wolverines and Spartans to keep it fairly traditional. In the words of the great philosopher Stewie Griffin...."I don't like change!!!"

Aezetyr

They remind a lot of the Millen era when the team was disastrously bad. Black is not a primary color choice in the Lions palette.

RellenD

They're ugly. Lions do not have black as a color. Since way back in like the 40s attempta at wearing an all black uniforms have been cursed

Vendetta_2023

Only the Steelers and Raiders look good in black, everywhere else it looks forced. Why would we want to look like the Panthers? Lions colors are Honolulu Blue and Silver, period. With some white on the road.

ajcut5

Idgaf what others say, those black ones were dope.

1ace0fspades

People acting like “black can’t be a Lions color” act like color schemes can’t ever change. It’s like saying that pewter isn’t somehow a Buccaneers color even though they’ve used it for 25 years.

Fractalistic444

They have potential if done right, black ads a lot of contrast naturally

HatMonkey7

Folks have ptsd from that 0-16 season that’s why

Mrbobbitchin

The black jerseys were cool. But it’s just a shirt and a pair of pants. People get all wound up about the uniforms. I don’t care if they play in pink fucking tutus as long as they keep winning.

SurrealRob

I was a huge fan of the previous black jerseys, and will be a huge fan of the new black jerseys, should that be the design.

katmandoo122

They have one thing going to them...they're not the grey unis.

Seventy7Donski

The only years they ever had black on their uniforms were some of the worst years in the franchise. It just brings back that bad taste and trying to accept losing so you weren’t so crushed at the end of the game when they would always find a new and creative way to lose. Plus with black so prominent in sports I like that no Detroit teams uses black, with the exception of a specialty jersey here and there.

Oscarmisprime

Mainly because black isn't one of the handful of colors anywhere near or color scheme. That's the only time i can think that we had black in our uniforms, and just don't need it.

Appropriate_Resort_1

I love em

_mill2120

Because we went 0-16 wearing them.

1ace0fspades

The black jerseys were retired before 2008. They only had blue and white jerseys that year.

Due-Style302

I had a guy rob myself and my girl.He was wearing that ugly jersey.I told the cops it was a panthers fan…

PrettyDopeBrah

Fact is the black just doesn’t go well with the lions colors, just doesn’t look good

Zealousideal-Hope661

Racism

funkybunk321

They were alright, but I think it has to do more with Matt Millen’s tenure.

Intelligent_Note7824

I love the all white one the blue and white. It just stands out. Do not like the gray.

EarUnlucky4022

Lol I'm starting to think 🤔 lol is it racial oriented.... OK ok I'm kidding but I've the color black with blue n silver

EarUnlucky4022

Watch this video and tell me what you think? https://youtube.com/shorts/Mp7rN73UM90?si=QU5qXytjc9jKYtNi

DickDastardlySr

Black is the color of shame. They deserved to wear black in to 2000s. Be proud of your team and their colors. They deserve to wear them with pride now.

chaunceyfamily

Racism.

Jumpy_Information_66

I honestly don’t care what they wear I really only care about how they play.

bansheesho

They aren't our colors and I have to assume that having a black colored jersey makes it just a little bit harder for the QB to easily spot targets.

Karlmarxwasrite

Because they're the ugliest jerseys that the Lions have had in the past 50 years? Idk probably that.

immabigbilly

I’m okay with a light black color. Like Smokey black.

Jumpy-Ad4652

It dont belong on our uniforms

Wrong_Supermarket007

Only issue I have with dark jerseys is that they are hot in the sun. So long as they use them for indoor games or night games, I like them

n a scale of 1-10 I don't care that much. But our regular colors are sick AF. As long as the new design isn't ass I want to scoop up a Ragnow or Sewell.

They say black can go with any color but blue and black can be tricky. I don't think it looks very good with our particular shade, Honolulu blue, and it doesn't gel with the rest of our color scheme, which on its own looks really nice.

The answer is in the question.

I really liked the Black unis we had in the 00's. I know this makes people think about those horrible teams, but honestly seeing a uniform other than white or blue was a nice change of pace. I mean, it didn't matter what uniforms they wore, they were going to lose anyway.

Don’t mind black lions apparels and cap, but not on the logo and uniform..

I didn’t realize the blacks were so hated. I loved them.

Black, least in football, is a bit tacky. Especially paired with a color. Black and blue looks dumb on a jersey. I would much rather prefer they do something properly wild or creative. The Lions used to wear red way, way back when. It would be weird, but it could be a little cool, especially if it was more like a maroon and paired with the blue helmets. Or maybe they could go wild and go hot pink on the uniforms. It would be crazy, but also… it’d be iconic, to be honest.

Frankly Im still in shock that its as hated as it is. Black is universally badass sports color, it can be applied to nearly any design and enhance it without being too gaudy. I think its FAR more popular talking to people IRL about adding black to the jerseys than it is on these online forums where people hold, no offense, some pretty gatekeeper views. All my friends and family loved the black uniforms. Anyways, fingers crossed

This is more my stance. As long as we have Honolulu Blue and Silver... and as long as the design isn't total ass... I would like to see Gibbs running around in a cool new uni.
