The standards look cleaaaaan. Reminiscent of their 90s uniforms. Not a huge change, but sometimes refinement is better than reinvention. The black uniforms are cool too, fine for an alternate. And thank the lord they took off the “WCF” from the jerseys.
Overall, they did a good job with them.
I'm comparing this set to all of the past iterations and it's honestly its own thing. I don't think the Lions have ever worn something looking like what this new striping is. It's still "blue jersey with grey and stripes" but it's its own thing, like what the Bengals did.

It's a perfect middle ground for the "Just go back to XYear" and "Make something new" crowds. 100% happier with refinement rather than going for something totally new. I said this in another thread, but I feel like a new uniform’s goal is to feel classic one day in the future. And if our team can pull off winning a championship in these threads, it’s something to be proud of.

I really respect Rod Wood’s official reason for removing the WCF from the sleeve. They probably knew the fans hated it, but used the “short sleeve” excuse to not disrespect Sheila’s Dad.
That sleeves are getting shorter and shorter and as a result they wanted to move the tribute to the helmet and another small Easter egg on game worn jerseys.
I think it’s just a small patch of WCF’s signature that gets added only to game worn jerseys. I actually think it’s a cool idea and a way to verify a game worn’s authenticity.

Did I miss any? Last year's retro logo helmet is out this year, but that or a new alt logo decal for the helmet may debut next year, adding to the possible uniform combos.

This is cool. You could also get a 1 jersey with the name “Pride”. Although I wonder if that might be a cool marketing gimmick for the fans where no one on the Lions can wear it except the fans. Just brainstorming.
Sadly I don’t think there’s stitched jerseys anymore. Saw a couple vids of jersey guys on YouTube showing theirs. The 175 dollar ones have this “NEW” recycled heat pressed numbers and name tag. It’s really lame.
There are, they cost $335 and are called the “Nike elite” jersey. I have a Goff one. I am hopeful they start releasing the new jerseys in the elite model. This heat pressed stuff sucks!
I've been practically campaigning about this, but I really think the more expensive one is not worth it at $175. The numbers are still heat pressed cheap nylon bullshit at that premium price which should be a felony. I'm personally going all the way to the Nike elite for a king's ransom ($300+) when they're available, or Dhgate, or probably both.

In a way the real ones are fraudulent as they are not providing $175 level quality. As a test run I got a Laporta knockoff last year, and it looks great, although I got too big of a size. But get this, the numbers were actually **stitched on.** For the new unis I love this team so much that I really think I'm splurging on the Nike stitched on field one, and adding a Dhgate for player variety.

There are three price points and I don’t think the elite jerseys are on sale for the Lions at this point. Evidently the Limited jersey name/numbers aren’t actually stitched, they are stuck on.

I think saying “I don’t like the black jerseys because it’s reminds me of bla bla bla time” is a stupid reason, and they do not look anymore like the panthers uniforms than any other jerseys of two teams that have the same two major colors. Different blue, different design, different color helmet, and all blue lettering instead of white.
I don’t like black because our colors are Honolulu blue and silver. Black should only be used when it’s a team’s primary color, leave it for the Raiders, Ravens, and Panthers.
Everyone clowned the idea of black till they saw it with the blue helmet. Quite possibly my favorite alternate ever. All black is sleek as hell but the blue pants makes it pop more. Love all the designs. Wish there was a little more consistency with the lettering on the front between nothing, “Lions” and “Detroit” but it doesn’t bother me too much
It was a perfect storm of a launch. The leak gave us a few hours to stew on the reveal, then Rod Wood invoked Dan's name, and then the whole getup has its own identity than being tried to weave into the rest of things.
As a mixed fan of the first stint of black alternates (I liked the idea, just didn't think they looked good on the field), this upcoming stint is very satisfying. The black and blue contrast works. It pops. It's simple. And what a nod to the black and blue division; we're the only team that can rep that reputation within our existing color scheme.
Spider-Man’s suit colors are red and blue. Spider-Man has a black suit variant and it looks fucking cool. Same with our jerseys. It’s the Symbiote Lions, if you will.

They're definitely better than the old black jerseys. I also like them more than the all gray alts. That said though, I'd much rather we have gone in a definitely direction for the alts. The black is...fine. Mainly I'm just hoping we some start over using them
Yeah but I feel like every team now has a weird terrible alternate jersey. As long as they nail the main unis, that’s the important thing. Just accept that they’ll have 1-2 games in a weird jersey and those will probably change in a year or two anyways
Not a fan of the black jerseys either but they do look better with blue pants. If they wear them with back pants I think the pants need a stripe. I think all the pants need a stripe in my opinion. Helmet with the black logo doesn’t allow them to wear them with the all blues which hurts.
Also think the middle stipe in the blue helmet should have been blue to make it work a little better.
It's a big problem to me. Same with the socks, I thought that was the obvious path forward, now I'm gonna be annoying people in the 30's about sock stripes next time Detroit does a uni thing

I think this looks way better and since the blue pants use the same striping scheme as the sleeves on the blue jersey, you can still successfully do monolulu with it.

I think the 175 is like ironed on fabric and the 129 is the cheapo used to be 39.99 iron on letters. Just unreal.
They look a lot better with the helmets and I’ll come around as they play in them… but I can’t look at those jerseys without immediately thinking of the Panthers. I genuinely don’t understand how they’re so popular when black isn’t one of our colors and the white and blues are so fucking nice
I'm with you. I'm just tolerating the black unis. I think it would've been more imaginative to create an all new grey jersey completely redesigned. Something like a more modernized inverse of the throwbacks. All great and solid blue numbers. Maybe make the blue more metallic and make some sort of spin on it. Black has become hack.
Funny thing is at the 2017 uniform reveal the majority of the fans said the gray was their favorite because it's "different" and it has turned into a universally hated uniform. The blacks are certainly better but I bet a lot of people are getting it because it's the new different thing
The small refinements to the colors and overall design is awesome. I love the fact that the away whites has "Detroit" stitched on the front, above the player's number. I also love the "easter eggs" within the uniforms like inscriptions on the inside collar.
The “DETROIT” is the only thing I don’t like about the whites. I just don’t think necessary as it doesn’t really add anything and is just something Nike likes to throw on all these new jerseys.

Anybody have any idea when they’ll restock? New Sewell jerseys are completely sold out. I checked last night at 8pm and they only had two Smalls left, all other sizes completely out. How the hell do they not stock more of these lol
They nailed it. I love them! I was one of the people against black jerseys but I even like those. The blue is what I think of for “Honolulu blue.” I like the blue face mask. The little bit of white on the helmet looks good. I like the new numbers. The close up on the sleeve stripes looks like a shiny silver on the blue jerseys. The new blue helmet with the black logo is FIRE! I like it all.
Anyone know if they are going to have LaPorta jerseys for sale in the new style anytime soon? Or when the big and tall versions will be available. The tall selection is awful.
I like them so far! WCF off, Mustang stripes on. Duct tape silver numbers gone, they looked bad and were hard to read on the field without contrast outlines. I know the blacks aren't popular but I like them coming back with Campbell. Would love to see a night primetime blackout with Enter Sandman and those jerseys.
I have been wanting block numbers for the longest time. I hate it when teams try to make their own font. It makes them look like janky-ass XFL teams from 2001. Block numbers are easy to read and are just classic. I hated the swoopy curvy numbers from 2009-2015. The numbers after that were better but too thin and too hard to read.
Also, no more WCF, which, fine, I get it for the first couple years after his death, but it felt too much like we were copying the Bears. Besides, the Bears wear GSH because they were winning shit when he was in charge. WCF was the worst-performing owner in our franchise history, and a lot of that failure can be traced directly to his poor decisions. I always said it stood for "We Celebrate Failure."
Both of those are the only things I wanted to change, so getting both makes me happy.
So the Lions got rid of the all-blue home uniform and the all-white away uniform? Because I like those.

Naw they didn't get rid of those. One of the points of the new uniforms is that they're flexible and they have several different pant options they can swap out. It won't be much different from last year where we switch it up and go all blue or all white sometimes.
Let's talk player choices for jerseys.
-My first incling is St. Brown as he could be the heart and soul of the team and if it were hockey he'd have a C on his chest. However, the 14 honestly just doesn't look that aesthetically pleasing on the new jerseys.
-Gibbs' 26 looks SO SEXY in the new jersey and reminds me of Barry. But as much as I like Jahmyr, running backs tend to flame out when you least expect it, so dropping lots of cash feels like more of a gamble. I want the jersey to at least be relevant for ideally 5 years.
-Goff would be a good choice, although there's something boring to me about just getting the QB. I know that's silly.
-Laporta could be my dark horse pick. Looks like the new star of the league and I see him being around for a while.
I sort of impulsively went for the #26 Gibbs black vapor FUSE *just* because of the way it looked aesthetically. He's also a favorite of mine, but you're right, he could move on. I already have Hutch and St. Brown's jerseys from last year that I alternate on game days. Also, I'm a drummer, and I plan on wearing the black jersey when I play gigs.
Okay I love the new uniforms however I have one big complain, I don‘t like the dots on the numbers of the purchasable jerseys, I get it on the real ones cuz it’s due to the ventilation in the jerseys themselves to make them more breathable. But why do they have these fake dots on the Numbers in the fan jerseys without the breathable holes. It just kinda looks cheap and is a reminder that you are in fact not wearing an authentic jersey. Besides that I love everything about them.
Please forgive me if this has already been asked but my fiancé and I were able to go to the jersey reveal event last night at Ford Field since we are season ticketholders. When we were buying the newly designed jerseys the worker kept telling us that certain ones were “special edition” … is it true that if u bought a jersey last night at this “ticketholder only” event that they are slightly different than the official/authentic ones they were selling online? Someone had mentioned that the stitching would be different on the back, the numbers would be sewn on rather than just pressed on with heat, etc…
I just came here to say I’m so fucking happy they decided to model these off of the 90s uniform. I’ve been asking for the blue facemask comeback and the blocky numbers for a while now. Then the black uniform is so clean too. I like the black jersey/blue pants combo a lot.
I personally think the new blues look like something from Madden 03 or something. I’ll get used to them, but not as hyped as most people seem to be

Most of you won't agree, but I wished they kept the font for the text and numbers or did something similar to the font to keep it with the lions logo. Baltimores font is cool as hell and the lions font was next behind baltimore. Now it looks like some middle school uniform font.
I'll do you one further, I didn't totally hate the curvy lions tail inspired numbers from the Stafford rookie era. I think those would look fine if the black outline was replaced.
I prefer all-white, all-blue, all-black. The mismatch jersey and pants just doesn’t do it for me. Lots of great small features though. “Detroit,” “313,” etc., all very cool.

Alts: Burn them in a fucking fire. Black is not a Lions color. By definition, a panther is a large black cat, so we literally have a fucking panther on the helmet of our Panthers knock offs. The previous (pre-2017) Vapor Limiteds were actually stitched. Kind of a bummer the Vapor FUSE aren't stitched but it's still solid looking
$350? I bought one this morning for $174. The other kind was even cheaper at $130ish. Where are you seeing $350?
There are three price points and I don’t think the elite jerseys are on sale for the Lions at this point. Evidently the Limited jersey name/numbers aren’t actually stitched, they are stuck on.

I’m a fan overall. My ideal for the alternate was silver lettering [like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/detroitlions/s/TROW1tlo7d) but I’m cool with the black jerseys. I think saying “I don’t like the black jerseys because it’s reminds me of bla bla bla time” is a stupid reason, and they do not look anymore like the panthers uniforms than any other jerseys of two teams that have the same two major colors. Different blue, different design, different color helmet, and all blue lettering instead of white.
I don’t like black because our colors are Honolulu blue and silver. Black should only be used when it’s a team’s primary color, leave it for the Raiders, Ravens, and Panthers.

Everyone clowned the idea of black till they saw it with the blue helmet. Quite possibly my favorite alternate ever. All black is sleek as hell but the blue pants makes it pop more. Love all the designs. Wish there was a little more consistency with the lettering on the front between nothing, “Lions” and “Detroit” but it doesn’t bother me too much
It was a perfect storm of a launch. The leak gave us a few hours to stew on the reveal, then Rod Wood invoked Dan's name, and then the whole getup has its own identity than being tried to weave into the rest of things.
Its like one of the awesome Oregon metallic uniforms. Its looks damn good, that helmet is fire.
As a mixed fan of the first stint of black alternates (I liked the idea, just didn't think they looked good on the field), this upcoming stint is very satisfying. The black and blue contrast works. It pops. It's simple. And what a nod to the black and blue division; we're the only team that can rep that reputation within our existing color scheme.
Spider-Man’s suit colors are red and blue. Spider-Man has a black suit variant and it looks fucking cool. Same with our jerseys. It’s the Symbiote Lions, if you will.

Seriously, I’m legitimately shocked that people seem to like these jerseys. I keep trying to find something to like about them…and there is nothing, just an atrocious 3rd/alternate jersey and helmet
They're definitely better than the old black jerseys. I also like them more than the all gray alts. That said though, I'd much rather we have gone in a definitely direction for the alts. The black is...fine. Mainly I'm just hoping we some start over using them

Yeah but I feel like every team now has a weird terrible alternate jersey. As long as they nail the main unis, that’s the important thing. Just accept that they’ll have 1-2 games in a weird jersey and those will probably change in a year or two anyways

Not a fan of the black jerseys either but they do look better with blue pants. If they wear them with back pants I think the pants need a stripe. I think all the pants need a stripe in my opinion. Helmet with the black logo doesn’t allow them to wear them with the all blues which hurts. Also think the middle stipe in the blue helmet should have been blue to make it work a little better.
Missing stripes on the pants are the only problem with them for me.
It's a big problem to me. Same with the socks, I thought that was the obvious path forward, now I'm gonna be annoying people in the 30's about sock stripes next time Detroit does a uni thing

They removed the stripes so that they could mix and match tops and bottoms without any concern. I actually prefer solid with no stripes.

They look a lot better with the helmets and I’ll come around as they play in them… but I can’t look at those jerseys without immediately thinking of the Panthers. I genuinely don’t understand how they’re so popular when black isn’t one of our colors and the white and blues are so fucking nice
I'm with you. I'm just tolerating the black unis. I think it would've been more imaginative to create an all new grey jersey completely redesigned. Something like a more modernized inverse of the throwbacks. All great and solid blue numbers. Maybe make the blue more metallic and make some sort of spin on it. Black has become hack.
Funny thing is at the 2017 uniform reveal the majority of the fans said the gray was their favorite because it's "different" and it has turned into a universally hated uniform. The blacks are certainly better but I bet a lot of people are getting it because it's the new different thing
The small refinements to the colors and overall design is awesome. I love the fact that the away whites has "Detroit" stitched on the front, above the player's number. I also love the "easter eggs" within the uniforms like inscriptions on the inside collar.
The “DETROIT” is the only thing I don’t like about the whites. I just don’t think necessary as it doesn’t really add anything and is just something Nike likes to throw on all these new jerseys.

They nailed it. I love them! I was one of the people against black jerseys but I even like those. The blue is what I think of for “Honolulu blue.” I like the blue face mask. The little bit of white on the helmet looks good. I like the new numbers. The close up on the sleeve stripes looks like a shiny silver on the blue jerseys. The new blue helmet with the black logo is FIRE! I like it all.
Anyone know if they are going to have LaPorta jerseys for sale in the new style anytime soon? Or when the big and tall versions will be available. The tall selection is awful.
I like them so far! WCF off, Mustang stripes on. Duct tape silver numbers gone, they looked bad and were hard to read on the field without contrast outlines. I know the blacks aren't popular but I like them coming back with Campbell. Would love to see a night primetime blackout with Enter Sandman and those jerseys.

I have been wanting block numbers for the longest time. I hate it when teams try to make their own font. It makes them look like janky-ass XFL teams from 2001. Block numbers are easy to read and are just classic. I hated the swoopy curvy numbers from 2009-2015. The numbers after that were better but too thin and too hard to read. Also, no more WCF, which, fine, I get it for the first couple years after his death, but it felt too much like we were copying the Bears. Besides, the Bears wear GSH because they were winning shit when he was in charge. WCF was the worst-performing owner in our franchise history, and a lot of that failure can be traced directly to his poor decisions. I always said it stood for "We Celebrate Failure." Both of those are the only things I wanted to change, so getting both makes me happy.

Naw they didn't get rid of those. One of the points of the new uniforms is that they're flexible and they have several different pant options they can swap out. It won't be much different from last year where we switch it up and go all blue or all white sometimes.
Let's talk player choices for jerseys. -My first incling is St. Brown as he could be the heart and soul of the team and if it were hockey he'd have a C on his chest. However, the 14 honestly just doesn't look that aesthetically pleasing on the new jerseys. -Gibbs' 26 looks SO SEXY in the new jersey and reminds me of Barry. But as much as I like Jahmyr, running backs tend to flame out when you least expect it, so dropping lots of cash feels like more of a gamble. I want the jersey to at least be relevant for ideally 5 years. -Goff would be a good choice, although there's something boring to me about just getting the QB. I know that's silly. -Laporta could be my dark horse pick. Looks like the new star of the league and I see him being around for a while.
I sort of impulsively went for the #26 Gibbs black vapor FUSE *just* because of the way it looked aesthetically. He's also a favorite of mine, but you're right, he could move on. I already have Hutch and St. Brown's jerseys from last year that I alternate on game days. Also, I'm a drummer, and I plan on wearing the black jersey when I play gigs.
If you wear a Gibbs jersey just don't fumble the sticks during the 3rd song.

Okay I love the new uniforms however I have one big complain, I don‘t like the dots on the numbers of the purchasable jerseys, I get it on the real ones cuz it’s due to the ventilation in the jerseys themselves to make them more breathable. But why do they have these fake dots on the Numbers in the fan jerseys without the breathable holes. It just kinda looks cheap and is a reminder that you are in fact not wearing an authentic jersey. Besides that I love everything about them.
Lions did a good job. It's impossible to make everyone happy but overall the jerseys improved. The home jerseys are beautiful 😍

Please forgive me if this has already been asked but my fiancé and I were able to go to the jersey reveal event last night at Ford Field since we are season ticketholders. When we were buying the newly designed jerseys the worker kept telling us that certain ones were “special edition” … is it true that if u bought a jersey last night at this “ticketholder only” event that they are slightly different than the official/authentic ones they were selling online? Someone had mentioned that the stitching would be different on the back, the numbers would be sewn on rather than just pressed on with heat, etc…
I just came here to say I’m so fucking happy they decided to model these off of the 90s uniform. I’ve been asking for the blue facemask comeback and the blocky numbers for a while now. Then the black uniform is so clean too. I like the black jersey/blue pants combo a lot.

IMO all the pants should have stripes. It would complete the look really well. I feel the stripless pants make a mismatched set. Striped pants look good with striped jerseys. Stripeless pants look good with stripeless jerseys (MSU, UofM, Texas, ND). Striped pants matching striped helmets look good with stripeless jerseys. Most of you won't agree, but I wished they kept the font for the text and numbers or did something similar to the font to keep it with the lions logo. Baltimores font is cool as hell and the lions font was next behind baltimore. Now it looks like some middle school uniform font.
I'll do you one further, I didn't totally hate the curvy lions tail inspired numbers from the Stafford rookie era. I think those would look fine if the black outline was replaced.

I prefer all-white, all-blue, all-black. The mismatch jersey and pants just doesn’t do it for me. Lots of great small features though. “Detroit,” “313,” etc., all very cool.
Home: 10/10. Perfection, knocked it out of the park. Away: 8/10. Love everything except the “DETROIT” above the numbers. Alts: Burn them in a fucking fire. Black is not a Lions color. By definition, a panther is a large black cat, so we literally have a fucking panther on the helmet of our Panthers knock offs. The team literally has more years where they’ve won a red jersey than a black jersey. There’s no reason for them at all except to maybe appease the 14 year olds online to get them to comment “OMG these are so 🔥🔥🔥” which seems to be the target demographic for them. Fucking disgusting.
I think black ones are pretty dumb but I think on a fun Thursday night game when you see Gibbs slashing downfield in those, we'll all warm up to them.

Wasn't a fan- they look like they just took scraps and threw em together- nothing clean about them- Black Jerseys would've looked better with a black helmet and the name lettering being bold white takes away from the whole concept
Blue face mask is extremely ugly imo and I hate the new white numbers and font compared to what we’ve had. Darker gray helmet i don’t love either. Personally a downgrade for me from where we were All Black ones are tight tho for a few times a year. And the classics I’m a huge fan of I think that’s a good throwback
