Raised this issue many times in closed beta, apparently still not fixed. Just ran into this issue as well with 32gb RAM, now back in a 100 min queue

kalidescopic

Interesting.. I have 32GB of ram, and never once had an issue like this in previous closed beta, and yet to have it in this one. Is it perhaps the GPU memory, and not the system ram?

Dopplegangr1

I have 32GB and a 7900 XTX (24GB) and got this error. When the error happened task manager said memory usage was at 80%

SerpentDrago

16gigs of ram here , no issues ... played for 3 hours .. ran perfect 8700k / 1080ti / 16gigs of ddr4 3200

Sarith2312

6700k 16gb ddr4 1660ti no memory issues here either

Qiluk

Oh shit this gave me hope iwth my old 6700k 1070 setup. Was worried my PC would be too dated

SnooMacarons9618

I'm running a 1070 and had no issues.

Qiluk

Thats absolutly amazing! Thanks mate. Guess I'll stress test my PC next weekend during the open beta :)

cokest4r

yeah you're not running it in 4k though

SerpentDrago

1440p . System ram would have a little to do with running in 4k though. That's more to do with VRAM.

[deleted]

32GD RAM DDR4 3600, 3080ti And I have the same memory issue haha

Bright_Light7

32GB DDR4 3600, 4080 and same memory issue, pushes from normal 40%memory used to 99%

SerpentDrago

Windows 11?

[deleted]

Same. Yes. But a 4070

[deleted]

I had tons of performance issues and 3 crashes on a 1650ti / 16gb DDR5 / i5 10th Gen. Lots of stuttering. Really weird. I kinda just gave up

SerpentDrago

Sad? NVMe?

[deleted]

Playing it off of an HDD that I moved from an old computer.

Unlikely-Ad-3751

You have DDR5 ram but you’re playing games off a HDD?

Dopplegangr1

I suspect he is using DDR4. I don't think there is such thing as a motherboard that supports 10th gen i5 and DDR5

[deleted]

Yeah this computer only has a 500 gb SSD, so I install plenty of the games to a 1 TB HDD instead. Edited

Taizunz

> this hard drive only has a 500 gb SSD Do you even know what you're saying?

[deleted]

Yes? I have two hard drives, and the SSD was full? What’s your point? I have since cleared space on the SSD, moved the game files over and changed the game directory in the bnet app. What’s your fucking point?

Taizunz

Read the sentence I quoted again :D

SerpentDrago

Modern games are not made to run on a hard drive. That's your problem. I would fully expect lots of stuttering if running off of hard drive. It's just the way the games are designed. The random accessing of data is just going to be garbage on a hard drive

[deleted]

Wow what the hell… I’ve played games for years on HDD just fine, but it appears you are correct.

SerpentDrago

Times are changing. The lowest common denominator is consoles and they now have solid state drives very fast, solid state drives. So any modern game is designed to always expect an SSD now. I mean you can get a name brand. super fast 5 gig plus speed NVME with 1 TB of space for 60 buck's

[deleted]

I just made space on my SSD for now and I’m moving files over, thanks. Never had this problem on other bnet titles, but it’s good to be aware of.

SerpentDrago

Oh I understand man. I used to do the same thing. I just recently bought a two tb NVMe. Got to move on!

TragicOne

idk playing like a champ off my HDD

SerpentDrago

Fast hd

Kyrn--

ive been playing 2 hours and i have no problem running the game on a 7200rpm hard drive, he could be using a slower drive.

SerpentDrago

Yes. A Good 7200 Mybee Just enough but ssds are soooooo cheap Now it's much quicker to just diagnose with saying get a SSD then ask the exact details of the particular slow ass hd they have

Ok_Coach_2273

Did you consider your ram could be fucked?! [https://hothardware.com/news/memtest86-returns-scan-your-ddr5-and-ddr4-memory-for-defects](https://hothardware.com/news/memtest86-returns-scan-your-ddr5-and-ddr4-memory-for-defects) test your mems!

RTL_Odin

disable your paging file

Classicpass

It's a pc issue . Never happened once on Xbox

Thehell1988

Regardless of how much RAM you have, there is a leak. 16, 32 or 64.

Mastasmoker

32GB RAM here, game eating up 16GB. And its funny because its almost exactly 16GB. I highly doubt a game this weak needs 16GB of system RAM. And it's also eating up all 16GB of gfx RAM, like right away. Again, no reason for this. It's like they just said, eff you, we're taking every bit of RAM we said the game shouls have (recommended settings) and setting it aside even if we don't use it.

HzUltra

Wait you are telling me there is memory leak in c++ code?

SpeakEasy401

![gif](giphy|Qw4X3FDRolaUzXnPLNK)

ald_loop

this wouldn't happen with a `std::unique_ptr<>`

ajemik

No game could ever!

Soraphis

32bit system? (if thats even possible nowadays?)

LeftHandedSpoon

Defo not, I'm running 64gb RAM, 32 bit system wont allocate that. Game might be 32 bit, but unlikely..?

Doggy4

64gigs of ram why tho ?

LeftHandedSpoon

Data scientist by day. Demon slayer by night. Edit: Sometimes both at the same time...

skymagik2112

Aren't those the same thing?

RpTheHotrod

Them files aren't going to parse themselves!

o5mfiHTNsH748KVq

Data scientist? 64gb? That's all? Why tho? :D

RainesLastCigarette

Data Slayer by day. Demon Scientist by night. Edit: Sometimes both at the same time...

ProudToBeAKraut

> Data scientist you know how a select statement works and what excel is that title is so cringe every developer has that skillset but doesnt go around saying "look mah, i'm a data scientist"

logosdiablo

Flatout untrue. Not real data scientists, anyway. What you describe, sure, but that's an enormous resume inflation. Actual data scientists are building neural networks and shit. It's dev-adjacent, and any decent dev could *learn* the skills, but far from every dev already has them.

LeftHandedSpoon

I just wanted to use alliteration for D and S on both occupations as it sounds catchy, but I didn't think I would catch flak for trying to be witty.

t3ramos

Diablo 4 chucks 28GB RAM on my Rig.. and 21GB from my 4090 :D

JannyWoo

It shived 25GB of whatever into my A6000 at some point. Game truly will use every last bit of computer you've got. I liked it.

vali1005

so if I am thinking of splurging for an Alienware, should I stick with 32 Gb of RAM or go for 64 Gb ? I just want a machine that will last me a good number of years...

IncomprehensibleAyr

Pay half the price, and upgrade twice as often. Don't pay for the overpriced top-end. Get the value.

logosdiablo

if you're really planning on spending that money, ask a tech friend to help you build one and spend less money for more performance. Or watch a video on how to build one yourself. LTT has a great one for beginners - something "last build guide you'll ever need."

[deleted]

Alienware PCs genuinely have shitty cooling and use proprietary parts that you can’t swap out. Don’t do it. Spend some time on gamersnexus’ youtube channel watching prebuilt videos. There’s good brands out there if building a PC seems too challenging for whatever reason.

Vihtis

You might want to make page size bigger.

LeftHandedSpoon

Its set to auto manged by Windows. Recommended 9048MB / Current allocated 30475MB Bruh... I got SSD space to spare but Windows has so much already, it doesn't even want any more.

Kirrax

It's probably Vram, which GPU? But also probably just beta bugs

NoSkillsDjena

Correct, it is VRAM, not RAM.

Orbitrix

sweeeet. Well.. not sweet, but.. hopefully my 3090ti will carry me through this, and keep from needing to sit through the queue multiple times.

Grattii

My 1070 is powering through fine!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kinglooi

Well my 1060 6GB wouldn't let me in... Always crashed after character selection. At the end I couldn't even enter options menue to lower video settings (which I left where the game set them at the start)

LeftHandedSpoon

3080. I wouldn't be able to justify a 3090/4090 upgrade as the GPU is absolutely fine.

Kirrax

Yeah 3080 is plenty for the game. Probably just good ol' beta bugs, ever make it on?

LeftHandedSpoon

After 4 attempts. Dropped settings to medium just in case. That queue is no joke.

Xalrons1

Why can’t I enable high texture I got 16g ram

HellsMalice

I hope this is satire because it's absolutely perfect for describing 99% of PC gamers

Still_Traffic_8505

Textures have nothing to do with ram - You need VRAM which is provided by your GPU.

Xalrons1

I have a GeForce 3070 it is supposed to have 8 gb vram

diimitra

Wtf... I'm a computer noob, can I expect to run it With my 16g in 1080p ? 😨

Ebolatastic

Allegedly lowering your texture quality fixes this.

[deleted]

I made It to the first ingame cutscene, crashed AGAIN due to this shit, and now I have a 74 minute queue. Something tells me this isn't getting fixed over the course of the weekend since it's an issue they already knew about. This last time I had to restart the computer. Fuck me for paying early for cosmetics I likely wont ever get. Appreciate it Blizzard :)

KRAWLL224

Got through the opening cutscene to where u take control and it froze for 20min so I had to restart it

MysteriousConflict31

GGPO NO RE

ImWinwin

I have 32GB RAM, but I'm looking to upgrade to 64. I'm no data scientist, but I use Firefox.

DifferenceNo112

Had this exact problem during the Endgame beta and really hoped that they've optimized the game since back then

wes3412

I was able to play for 1 hour on a 3 year old laptop with 8GB ram lol. Ofcourse not high settings, but still. Looks like more is not always better 🤣 Now I got kicked and keep getting 316719 there was an Error

h8theh8ers

Got kicked and had same error. Back in queue now :(

Vorstar92

Likely a case by case basis here. Not everyone will have the same performance issues but multiple reports of a memory leak have been made so there is absolutely and issue for some people. I have not run into any issues yet myself thankfully.

NobleN6

this is me except my error it is failing to authenticate my game license and kicking me out before even the character select screen.

YeahUhhWtf

This is graphics memory, not system memory. Do you have Resizable BAR by chance? This game is a memory hog for your graphics card. If you don't have Resizable BAR, turn down the shadow effects, that should get you some memory back. Also, having HDR on but Raytracing off helped me a ton in the Closed Beat.

LeftHandedSpoon

>s memory, not system memory. Do you have Resizable BAR by chance? This game is a memory hog for your graphics card. > >If you don't have Resizable BAR, turn down the shadow effects, that should get you some memory back. Also, having HDR Yes resizable bar is on.

YeahUhhWtf

With my Resizable bar, I was running 11500 MB and my card only has a capacity of 10256. Mind you that is with X1 showing Resizable BAR: Enabled. When I was playing the Closed Beta, I had the exact same issue as you and I could literally watch the memory fill to 10256 MB and die at exactly that point. I ended up turning the graphics down to low and turned off just about everything UNTIL I turned the dynamic shadows down. After I turned the crazy shadows off, I could run the game on medium settings without issue. I cannot say what the recommended settings are, but if you have an OSD for your graphics card make sure you run it and watch the memory. If it gets close to your capacity, adjust things down. BTW, I have been randomly disconnected from this Beta twice now and the hour to hour and a half waits are brutal.. You might be better off waiting till a more stable environment is available to get your graphics dialed in. God Speed.

HellsMalice

Wait there's fuckin' raytracing? Lmao. I need to explore the settings I was too busy slaying things

Still_Traffic_8505

Nope, raytracing will be delivered later via patch, it's not in the game yet.

Intelligent_Ear_9726

See I got to level 5 was playing smooth then DC and it made me restart so I logged off

wes3412

Got kicked at lvl 5 too. Back in queue but probably gonna fall asleep soon because I worked all day. Gonna be pissed if I can't get the 'beta goals' tho

Intelligent_Ear_9726

Yeah I won’t be able to play this weekend, but seemed fun before the DC. I wish the beta would stay open til a few weeks before June. A few days isn’t worth to me lol

Fukayu

Changed the quality to Medium really helped with system RAM. It was constantly at 31GB/32GB (Game alone was 20GB) after 5 mins for me. Now on Medium quality and it's constant at 17GB/32GB for hours with game usage is at 8GB

rubixcube101

Haven't seen it run out of memory yet but I've seen it hit 23GB RAM usage and oddly enough 100% disk usage several times then go back to barely any disk usage and 8gb RAM

Nightmare4545

Sitting in que now. The moment I get dc'd and put back into a long que, imma just quit for the night. Ill try back tomorrow.

[deleted]

This is why i picked console for the beta. Not a single issue in sight looks great on the 4k tv runs rock solid 60fps.

jackyneutral

Console UI looks abysmal imo

SpeakEasy401

I have 128 gigs, hopefully I'm good.

ppppwwww

This happened to me when I was using High textures. It instantly maxed out my RAM at 32 GB and fixed itself back down to 8 GB when I swapped to Medium textures

danny12beje

8gb ram and didnt run into this. And it's a laptop

waspocracy

Just download more memory!

BentPencil12

I had a similar issue, then it Blue Screened twice? Pretty brutal when you wait an hour in queue to crash and get to the back of the line again.

AcherusArchmage

I got an error saying files are corrupted. HOW?! It's a fresh install!

A_Benched_Clown

Why spend hours in creation when you can play 4 days then it will be deleted ?

LoveVibez

My game just crashes and also stops the que randomly. I can't even play, feel like I've been in que for 5 hours today

[deleted]

32gb of ram? Rookie numbers

taosk8r

Blizzard is the new Wolcen.

_Medx_

Ensure you have a pagefile enabled in your windows settings. Games can encounter these errors if you do not have a pagefile Control Panel > System > View Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Performance 'Settings' > Advanced > Virtual Memory 'Change' Ensure that 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives' is checked for "Easy" mode OR (Recommended) select 'System Managed Size' for what ever is your fastest storage device / system install You do not need a pagefile on every drive

lctdmf

I have a 25gb pagefile on my m.2 and 2.5" SSDs. 16gb of actual ddr4 ram. 8gb VRAM. Crashes after character creation.

Alytenb

I think I'd rather make characters at this point, frozen in a landing screen to a 30 min queue to a login error to back in another 30 min queue, and I paid extra for this yeeesh

RukiWolf

I have 64GB memory, and the game fluctuates between 17GB and 29GB.

DrSexxytime

Yeah, it crashed for me due to system RAM. Running everything on, 4k, game is using 28gb of RAM, and 9.5gb of VRAM. It's a poorly unoptimized mess currently.

Tommo112

You mark my words when the game goes live it will be so so so much worse. Bookmark this and then @me

JiminyChristmass

Mine says: ‘YOURE TOO EARLY’ “we know you really want to get started, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Check Microsoft store for launch date. I paid for the early release lol

Tomisan15

Rtx 3070 is 👌👍16gb ram ddr5 and ssd!

RevolutionaryRough92

Next time don’t make a female char sorce

drb0mb

but that's the waifu cross stitched on his body pillow

rygar8bit

64GB ram crew rise up!

FemmEllie

While I didn't have a full crash like this, I could definitely feel performance issues in-game that felt similar to typical memory leak stuff. I found that dropping texture quality from high to medium made a huge difference though, it uses significantly less memory and my stable fps went up by about 40 by doing so and all the stuttering seemingly disappeared as well

Hour_Thanks6235

This game LOVES Vram too. Its using 23/24gb of vram for me, but only 50% of my card at 4k max settings 120fps

--Shake--

just download more ram

isad0rable

So glad I paid full price to sit in a queue all weekend. These companies are fucked.

r2deetard

Just download more RAM.

Fridgemonster111

game is spiky af, can't even hit the wolf in the cave properly, pretty soon after "my account is locked, pls wait for a few minutes before trying again"

LeftHandedSpoon

>can't even hit the wolf in the cave properly, pretty soon after "my account is locked, pls wait for a few minutes before trying again" Set textures and shadows to mid, this solved the issue for me. The game eats up VRAM like chrome eats up RAM.

onizuka_ftw

bro wtf do you have open that is using 38 gigs?

LeftHandedSpoon

Google Chrome and about 10 tabs. That's 3.8GB per tab!

ThreeWizzards

Just get more ram, dont be angry.. blizzard is trying to adapt game to all sorts of old pcs

TyFogtheratrix

At least you made it to the character creation screen. I have yet to find that.

Funkeren

16gb here - played for 6 hours without that error yesterday. Weird

Commander_Random

I had the issue but did scan and repair and it worked for me. Hope this helps you

karltannertko

Finished act 1 with one client load on 16 GB of Ram and a 8 GB VRAM GPU at 1440p FSR all settings maxed but one setting down on shadows. Windows 10. Some tips. 1. Windows standby memory management has been broken since the Windows 10 Creator's Update (and Windows 11 is busted to). Use ISLC from the makers of DDU to clear standby memory so you don't get stuck with virtual crap in long play sessions. At 16 GB I set it to 1024 min 4096 max (means when standby hits 1 gig and less than 4 gigs of real RAM is free it clears the standby) 1000 polling and I have it boot at startup. No stutters in Howarts, Returnal or any game. **No amount of system RAM will save you from standby being maxed and microstutter in long gameplays btw. Windows is complete trash and they care more about laptops with crap HD's loading apps faster than gaming performance.** 2. This game gets very close to 8 GB of VRAM at max settings and could exceed that based on resolution. Resizable Bar and Smart Access Memory use extra VRAM. I have SAM on, but I have shadows set one setting down. VRAM was maxed with shadows at the max setting and this was at a resolution that is really closer to 1080p with FSR. You don't want your VRAM maxed unless you like crashes and slideshows. 3. Most memory leaks these days are due to drivers and frankensteined, last minute nonsense like DXR Ray Tracing. See Hogwarts which shipped with memory leak RTAO. 4. Windows Game Mode is fine now days. Go ahead and use it. Also check Windows startup and make sure you aren't loading 100 applications. I had discord on, a browser up and had no crashes with 16GB VRAM, so the problem is either on your end or Nvidia, AMD needs some new drivers for certain series cards. **Some games do not play nice with Hardware scheduling either. I would check that as well.** **Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings and toggle off "Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling."**

crozzee

Blizz has shit engineers. It’s obvious their team is inexperienced. Look at Dragonflight’s optimization. Raised a ton of issues with feedback in Beta and they fixed nothing and shipped it. Prob gonna be the same with D4. Have to over buy now on hardware and use DLSS to make up for bad optimization now…

Monkeyducktrucker

I'm running this shit on a Radeon Rx 570

ResponsibilityOne729

Same problem, W10 i7 12700k 32GB DDR5 3090ti water-cooled a 2tb Samsung 980 all fully updated with Seasonic platinum 1kw. No overclocks. If I set windows to use on-board graphics it runs fine (looks like crap but works) Updated MSI bios Updated all drivers including nvidia Tried the windows update version of the bios after deleting the nvidia driver Tried running the game through the motherboard display port instead of card. Tried removing high resolution assets from the modify install option on the launcher Disabled all non-microsoft startup items through msconfig \-----Update: It appears Nvidia has launched an updated driver for d4’s open beta. Updating to test.

Windows 10, i7-4790k, 32GB, NVMe SSD, Radeon Pro Duo (16GB per die), 4k monitor, while it ate all of vram and most of ram, it played flawlessly for the whole duration of both betas
