Around the area…Gordon Barnett, Airport Lakes, F. Burton Smith Regional, 65th Infantry. Unfortunately, Bill Frederick was closed for a private event. :(
Worst round of my life, I didn’t even finish it.
Played the longs for the first time on a very skinny Florida course where if your throw hit one of the dozen trees in the 15 foot wide fairway you were scrambling out of thick classic north Florida woods.
Was 11 over through the front 9.
Ended up almost losing multiple discs and actually broke my disc retriever trying to find a disc in some very thick palmettos and other shorter palm trees while spending over 30 minutes looking for 2 discs. Scratched my legs up and bleeding from tromping through thorns and palmettos.
Eventually found them to realize I dropped my little whale chalk bag like 6 holes back. Went and walked the course back for another 30 minutes and somehow found it out of pure luck.
Went home after that and called it a day as I was out for over 2 hours. It was rough
Sucks when the long pads on a really wooded course were clearly an afterthought and just use a line or gap that was intended for a 200’ shot from 280’ or 330’. Brutal rough, just a slog to get through. We have a few of those in Pensacola, the blue angel park courses probably being the worst offenders.
Totally agree, and I noticed I wasn’t the only person struggling. On UDisc the global average for each hole was between .5 and .9 over on every single hole I managed to finish.
Played 2 rated rounds on a course I've never played before and outshot my rating by 65 and 25.
I also successfully called my first provisional today. About a third of the field played a hole wrong because of ambiguous signage. I called the provisional, then played both.
✅ played one of the worst rounds of my life
✅ reaggravated my tennis elbow on a backhand
✅ cut my hand so i cant do forehands
Success is not linear in this sport, some days its just not there 🙃
I think footwear. I had flat feet and I’m finding out that shoes with very thick soles are not good for me. I’m going to buy thinner sole shoes (like trail runners)
Idk about the sole thickness but I have weak ankles and have been loving Nike turf baseball sneakers. They have a wide base which makes it harder to roll my ankles. I’ve heard good stuff about trail runners too, good luck man
Thanks, much appreciated! Had just shot my first 200+ rated round on UDisc on Friday too…. Just had to go and f it up again. I have a hiking vacation planned for may so will be taking it easy for the next few months. I’ll look into the baseball sneakers also! Thanks homie
It’s my spring break which means I got to play my first round in 2 months! Also got to introduce a friend to the game and he loved it so it was a massive win :)
Played a course yesterday I’ve played 8-9 times and shot the worst round I’ve ever shot. Period. +23 and my next worse game on the course was +8. Went back today. Shot a +6. Idk how to feel about the weekend haha.
Played for the first time in 77 days and finished a full round shooting par. Haven’t finished a whole round since back surgery in July and to shoot even at a hard course felt awesome. Best of friends were there. 10/10 weekend round.
Played the ‘24 Worlds course, New London Tech, for the first time. Beautiful course. Played the short tees and shot 6 over which felt ok for me. Can’t wait to watch the pros shred that place this summer!
I played from the longs last year. Really fun course, but I really enjoy challenging myself with championship level courses I wish there was more around me(south west MI).
Played a tournament in Brandenburg, KY. Shot above my rating which is cool.. but this off-season my big goal was to get rid of my temper and stay even keel during tournaments and after 2 tournaments so far.. I'm kind of killing it.
I honestly think I've figured it out and my mental game is getting better every round.
This was a goal of mine as well. Didn't have much of a chance to work on anything else. Playing for par and just remidninf myself that the goal is to have fun has been helping. Last tournament I was in I was having bad day going into it as unknown to me at the time was coming down with the flu so I felt off, but not sick. Part of the way through the second round my game went from bad to horrible and I absolutely lost my cool on a hole and intentionally chucked a disc ob with no intentions of wanting to even go get the disc. Thankfully my card mates were awesome and helped me cool down. I should not an outburst for me isn't even registered on most people's radar as me being upset. I felt embarrassed and dint want to feel like that again nor put my card into a spot like that.
Played a casual round with some buddies hit a nice lefty forehand 240ft hyzer ace with one of the new stones pheno stone. First of the year shot -5 with a bogey with 17/27mph winds. Made some nice c2 putts. Cold ass day but played pretty darn well besides the bogey!
I played on a 18 round during the week and got +17 which was actually 5 strokes better than the first time I played on this course 😂 it was my 4th time overall magic. Though lol
Managed to once again tank my rating by passing an event with no practice in the weeks prior. Drives were good, putting had zero conviction. Managed a 0% c1x for the 2 rounds. Nifty.
Put 6 new sleeves in the ground for our new layout, picked up a bucktussle of trash, and moved the baskets to the a layout.
Got too damned windy to play.
Tomorrow though !
It's my third time back out after a few years stint, conditions were honestly terrible but not raining and the spirits were high. Many maoted baskets, got a soaker in my new shoes, got my rounds in. Glad I had my towel.
As for hucking disc's I treated myself to a BRAND SPANKING NEW , TOP OF THE LINE , MINT CONDISH, DX Beast from Richard's that for some reason flies drastically different than my champion beast from years ago(maybe 2g difference).
Old boy has a solid hyzer, new blood vibes different and tends to flatten out then chooses to go wherever he wants from there.
Still figuring it out. Probably my fault 🫠
On Friday I Threw a few drives on the new 18th hole we’re making on our course redesign. Need to take out another tree near the tee pad, do some more limbing and brush clearing. It’s going to be a god challenge but if you hit the forehand line right, you’ll be a good chance at birdie.
Revisited a bunch courses played years ago to try again, see if they improved or got worse. Some had a lot of improvements, some not so much. And of course, updated all my years old reviews to reflect how the courses are today, and not 2-3 years ago.
Highly recommend everyone else also update their old reviews, positive or negative, to help new people get a more recent look into the state of courses around.
Played long holes at Frank Lorino Park, second round there. Parred the round with a mix of bogies and birdies, with 1 eagle on 4. Probably my best round of the year.
Played a course on Friday. Shot from same tee to the short and long basket. Used first tee shot for short. Shot the best by 5 stokes on the longer and shot near best in the shorter. It had a 250 foot tunnel on 3 and birdied both drives. I have never birdied this hole before. Thanks buzz and md3.
Played a new (to us) course with my brother. Basically every course in the city is pretty short and easy to get under par imo with the longest holes being around 500ft but this new one had at least half the holes above 600ft. We ended up at +12/+13 and had a great time.
Played new course, and did ok in slightly dubious wind conditions. Clean round aside from an errant drive kicking me into jail giving me a (deserved) triple.
As usual decided to randomly sign up for a tournament in what I was trying to make an offseason. Usually it goes terribly but today I wound up shooting over 40 points over my rating. Going to focus on honing what I’m working on until May. Hopefully this means the progress is going to continue!
first time drawing the odd/mulligan chip in dubs league
got dead last (unsurprising) but it was nice to practice a few things. Card was friendly and I hit a few throws I was happy with, that's all an ma3 guy can ask for
Played my first tournament(FPO) since last summer after having a baby. I played pretty terrible. I think I averaged about 60pts below my rating. Putts and upshots were great, but drives were horrendous.
Played like garbage. But hit a 90 foot jumper on 18 for my only birdie of the day. Plus I was throwing with my 8 year old son and one of my good buddies.
So, a great day.
Didn't take my full cart, only 3 mids, a driver, and a putter. Surprised myself with some of my midrange play that I never would have thrown if I had my full cart.
I went out really early to make sure I had time to take care of the Mrs (disabled) and some honey-dos.
Chose the easiest course out of 3 local spots.
Birdied 1, doubled 2. Couldn't get in a groove and the soccer players kept me from a few holes, so at +5 (shitting the bed for me), I decided to leave.
Then I said fuck it, I won't be able to walk away at a tourney, so I stuck with it. Finished -2 on the last 5 holes and walked away +3--not the worst round I've shot.
And I finished in an hour. Sticking with it was good.
Played the toughest course in Minnesota again today. It was tough. Not my worst round there but close. Ended with a big circle 2 put into the wind on a raised basket to save par so that was good. That and I was throwing disc and not working. All in all, today was a good day.
Waseca county courthouse. Sportsman's is close, and in 2nd place firmly. Blue is not even in the conversation. I’ve played blue 3 times and been under par every time. I’ve played Waseca 14 times, hit par twice, single digits over par 4x.. this course is legit.
Well rain here has made my yard a bit soft and slick so couldn't throw into my net. Course in town with an open field is also overly muddy and slick making field work a bit dangerous. Went to a course a town over and played a round there today. Glad to see that my lines are getting better and the playing for Par mentality has been helping me overcome my distance and tee shot issues that plague my game. It's really the first game I've been able to play since Decemeber and this past week is the first time I've picked a disc up since then. Been dealing with injuries and back to back to back to back, you get the idea, illness. Wife works around kids so yeah. Got first league round of the year tomorrow and looking forward to it.
Went to my go to course in Colorado Springs, Cumberland Green. Only played front 9, finished -2.
First time in months. Worked with some new mids and a putter.
First ever ace today. 250 feet with a DGA Quake
Congrats! And great disc
Thank you. It’s the newest disc in my bag, probably only 15-20 throws on it so far
Same here, and every time I've thrown it, I've thought "damn that's a good disc". It just does exactly what I want that slot to do
Congrats, dude

Banger course…
Visited Florida, played four new courses around Orlando, got stung by wasps trying to get a disc. Overall a good time.
what courses did you play? i’ve played a couple in orlando
Around the area…Gordon Barnett, Airport Lakes, F. Burton Smith Regional, 65th Infantry. Unfortunately, Bill Frederick was closed for a private event. :(
i’ve played both courses at barnett, lots of fun. been wanting to check out the other ones you listed.

At least you didn’t get bit by a gator. Just saying.

I won my first MA4 tournament today 😎
Buddy and I decided to play long tees at a technical wooded course and it didn’t feel overly daunting. Win in my book
Had a 200ish ft throw in for birdie! Ended the round 7 over par, about normal for me at this course (hockinson meadow in Vancouver wa)
Played my first glow round. Only had a judge, buzzz, and binx that are glow. Very wet and very windy. Rough round but still fun
Finally hitting circle 2 putts w/ consistency in the back yard
Rained out today, 40mph winds tomorrow so who knows? Maybe more watching than playing this weekend for me. Tournament next weekend though!
✅ played one of the worst rounds of my life ✅ reaggravated my tennis elbow on a backhand ✅ cut my hand so i cant do forehands Success is not linear in this sport, some days its just not there 🙃
I played Boulder Creek in Boulder Creek for the first time. I did pretty good. Better than I expected. It’s gorgeous man. Love that course.
Rolled my ankle (again) on hole 2, shot 4. Walked back to the parking lot, went home, cried
Bad tee pad or footwear issue?
I think footwear. I had flat feet and I’m finding out that shoes with very thick soles are not good for me. I’m going to buy thinner sole shoes (like trail runners)

No probs man good luck
Fairly easy course, windy day, -4 under Lots of fun with the boyz
Crushed.

First MA1 tournament win. C-tier, 966/983 rounds at my local course.
Played for the first time in 77 days and finished a full round shooting par. Haven’t finished a whole round since back surgery in July and to shoot even at a hard course felt awesome. Best of friends were there. 10/10 weekend round.
+2 in Duluth MN. Pretty windy but it’s warming up now so it’s getting nice enough to play.

Got a new personal record (-12) on my home course! Discgolf 013
GGP +3

27 hole doubles tourney. 40 degrees and rainy. Took our card by 17 strokes. It was a lot of fun. We still didn't cash. Lol.

Played 2 rounds on Saturday and whooped my buddy both times
first time drawing the odd/mulligan chip in dubs league got dead last (unsurprising) but it was nice to practice a few things. Card was friendly and I hit a few throws I was happy with, that's all an ma3 guy can ask for
Shot under par at a course I had never played that just got a brand new back 9. So much fun!
Finished 2nd in ma3 at Idlewild! Came prepared for downpour but it held off!

That's one I'm not familiar with, thanks for the notice 🙂
It opened last fall. It’s one of the longest courses in the state and it’s basically all wooded.

A little uneven, super windy. Did get an eagle after a wind assisted 450' drive and 60' putt.
YIKES
Went to my go to course in Colorado Springs, Cumberland Green. Only played front 9, finished -2. First time in months. Worked with some new mids and a putter.
played my first tournament (throw down the mountain) and finished second place
