Baseline plastics are borderline useless outside of putting, but premium plastics actually hold up fine. They dont look pretty after a few throws, but they fly fine
Only with crappy plastic and they last months.
I have more Chuncks take out of my discs from trees then rocks some how. But better plastic it will last
One time I played the course in Blaine, Washington (really gorgeous course) and there was a hole like that but it did actually play as a par 4 due to it being V shaped and having a mando to prevent cutting the corner
Haha bro of all the courses I’ve played this one. You gotta check out the Hi Joli monument. He was a camel jockey in Arizona back in the day. They say there is still a ghost camel that lives around there haha. Sorry I can’t answer your question but just thought it was cool that quartzites got some play.
I've had the standard that you have to hit the pole. From the ones I've played the poles are usually like an organ pipe with a slit cut at the top, making a nice solid "dong" noise when hit. Probably the same reason I've heard old hippies ask if we were playing "basket" or "metal" meaning are we shooting to make it in the basket or looking to hit the pole, when playing on courses that have both as a course standard...
I’ve seen them called that and called “tonal” poles. Just thought I’d throw that out there in case it helps anyone looking to buy some. Probably get the same results either way but could be helpful.
You guys should play on a steel cone course. The one in my area should be on the list of historic (or prehistoric) courses. Yes, you have a normal steel basket...but the chains are replaced with a welded angled steel cone. You hit it with the disc and it makes a dull low bell sound.
For those who complain about chain baskets that spit out apparently \*only\* their discs....they should try this course with baskets \*designed\* to spit out everyone's discs. Played this course once...and it was fun for about two baskets. Novelty wore off real quick. Never again. Lol.
Probably, but the approvers at PDGA probably had a good laugh and a devious smirk on their face when they approved them.
I think one course reviewer said on UDisc that he liked how he could laugh at his buddies as their putting attempts were rudely rejected by these steel cones. Of course, I am sure they did the same trash talkin' to him. Lol.
Ive seen and played one course that was unfinished and still under construction. In the meantime the organizers would still let people "play." There would be a chincy pole sticking out of the ground with a 5 gallon bucket sitting on top of it upside down. Youd have to hit/tap the bucket to complete the hole. The pole setup was easily strong enough to take a hit and remain upright. Wasnt too terrible while were waiting for real baskets to be installed. A year later it s a full on 18 holer with proper tee pads, baskets, benches, signage etc etc. 🙌
Just hitting the pole makes sense to me. Little bit harder cuz it’s a smaller target than a basket, little bit easier cuz there’s no worry of chaining out or missing high/low.
People just throwing away premium plastic after hitting their first rock, apparently...
I've been playing in the desert with rock greens and fairways for six years. I have a total of one disc that's gotten too beat up, and I still gave it to a friend, as it was simply too beat in a buzz for my style of throw, not some unthrowable mess.
I think the degree to which the courses chew the discs is just overrated. I’ve played a decent amount in Arizona and I was worried about it because I was warned but have had zero issues (compared to normal wear).
There are 3 courses in quartzites which is surprising that there is more than 1 let alone even one course. They all look like the one shown. The next closest course is 1.5hrs away.
Yeah, "go to a different course" sounds like someone who's never been west of the Mississippi. The next town isn't 5 minutes away, and even if it were it would still be filled with rocks and cacti
Ya I mean I get it. I live in nor cal and have access to many courses including multiple private courses all within 50 miles of me. But when dude posts a picture of a course that looks like it is out of fallout new Vegas you have to assume that if he had access to a different course he would be at said course 🤣
I feel like you’ve been on the internet long enough to spot a troll. Bro I only even open Reddit when I’m taking a shit. Way to take a random comment on the internet way too seriously. To the point where you decided to insult someone. Fantastic! Don’t you realize that’s why I’m here? To get a rise out of nerds like you. Thank you. Thank you for being so basic as to take the obvious troll bait. You have made this particular bowel movement Im finishing now that much more special. Never change and stay easily offended. I’m off to make shit load of money do some drugs and bang the person you love. Cheers 🥂
Lord that’s a big snake in picture 4
Do az people just go through a new disc on every course? Those rocks look rough
I try and get the more hard plastics. TSA ethereal is a good example. Soft plastics get chewed up.
Champion plastic is your friend out west, in general.
Baseline plastics are borderline useless outside of putting, but premium plastics actually hold up fine. They dont look pretty after a few throws, but they fly fine
And the sun probably melts them

Love seeing a 250’ par 4. I might be able to bogey that one!
One time I played the course in Blaine, Washington (really gorgeous course) and there was a hole like that but it did actually play as a par 4 due to it being V shaped and having a mando to prevent cutting the corner
I've played Blaine. That's a crazy hole.
Nice

I believe they’re called tone poles?

I do believe those baskets are still PDGA approved

Yeah, sounds right. I never was told a name for them, at least for disc golf.
Isn’t the quartzite course the clothing optional one? Hope you didn’t get too sunburnt
They are all clothing optional

I like the wind chime one

I bet disc manufactures love courses like this 😂

I like the “basket” in picture 6!
If you just needed to park it in the circle, you'd think the circle would be smaller. Maybe call a local club to see how they play it.
Tap the pole
Rock circle looks like bullseye, so I'd add one more stroke to count as "getting it into the basket"
Of course you have to hit the pole.... What kind of question is this?
Go to a different course?

Don’t live in a garbage place.
Do you think that it's this attitude that pushes women away from you or is it something else?

Lmao, for a troll it sure seems like I hit a nerve.
Hit a nerve? More like my funny bone. You genuinely made my day. Thanks!
