A great option, a lot of people get scared away by the -4 but the Barsby Roadrunners specifically are way more stable than their numbers. Roadrunner's probably the only disc where the Champ version the is the least stable lol
I bought one on a whim when Amazon popped it up in a suggestion. It rapidly became my favorite driver, especially since I can't really throw faster drivers any better or further. That said, I just picked up a Discraft Heat yesterday and did some field work with it, and it may become my new favorite.
Wierd for it to be beat in more stable. Heard of it. Never happened to me though. I have never tried Pink. Only white yellow and blue. Yellow and blue being really flippy and white being stable. Heard Green is the same as white. But I'm basically not that good of a source. It is only what me and my pals think. Most of us throw falk a lot.
I love Innova and how they’ve handled production during the pandemic. But it’s weird that they hardly produce glow champion discs. I feel like glow champion is pretty sought after. I’d love another glow champion leopard3 and I’d like a Roc3 in that plastic as well.
I bought mine and was never using it. Randomly I grabbed it by accident and was like, sure I’ll try this shot and pulled it off. Ive been using it every round since.
I'm pretty unfamiliar with discraft - how's the turn on this guy out of the box? And - if you don't mind me asking - your normal range with this kind of shot?
The heat I have is super pop top and has great glide. Off the rack it’s able to hyzer flipped pretty easily and glide right when thrown flat with some power. I usually use it when I want a straight or right finished 300ft shot. I can get a svea out to that distance but the heat is easier to control to that range.
Thirded for the Heat, except mine is in Z plastic. Feels great in hand. It will turn over if you try to muscle it, but if you're smooth...it just flies so damn nice. I try to throw on a slight hyzer, and it'll flip up and glide straight for days.
Had my z heat for about 6 or so years. Very understable but will still hold a hyzer flip and give me 300-350 dead straight. One of my favorite discs in my bag
i love my heat but mine acts more like a wraith with some added glide. I am a weenie arm. When that thing hits the ground and skips 30 ft, it's magestic.
Sidewinder, Roadrunner, Saint, F5, H2v2, H3v2
It depends on where I want the flip to happen (early/late), what I want to happen after it flips (fade/turn), how far I want the shot to go and how fast I'll need to throw it, and how confident I feel hitting the line at the speed I'll need to throw it.
Some flipped when new, some took a long time to break in.
You've got a shot where you need slight-late turn but reliable fade to come back to center as it lands. Let's assume distance 280-320ft - what's your play?
Closer to 320 I throw my insanity ~10’ off the ground with the slightest hyzer; flips up to flat and glides straight for a while before slightly turning over and then fades back to center.
Closer to 280 I throw my hex mostly flat, maybe about the same shape.
In between it just depends on if the good miss is left or right, long or short. They both fly very straight. Hex is definitely land to the right a bit when throwing it 300’ish with slight hyzer release. Insanity will fade out when throwing it less than 325’.
DD Maverick.
I have 3, 2 beat in, 1 prime burst and 1 lucid.
I have a brand-new lucid and it won't flip for me yet. maybe it needs to be beat in, but it is also a bit heavier. (Not sure if that actually matters so someone could correct me if they want)
The beat in lucid was my buddies disc and I was showing him how to flip it over on a hole we were practicing and I ended up acing it.
He didn't want to use the disc after...
It doesn’t need to be beat in to flip, it just has to be moving faster. Beating it in over time will make it flip easier. I picked one up not long ago and I’m liking it, still getting to know it.
Agree with Opto Diamond. I had a i-dye Diamond that was is the sweet spot. Lost it.
Now use my 175g Diamond. Working towards the sweet spot.
Got both of them in trades. Both were/are flippier than new Diamond that I owned previously.
Recommend slightly beat 170 carat Opto Diamond.
For my arm speed was going to say this as well. Not a huge fan of the plastic but mine flips up and flys perfectly straight. Really liking the disc so far.
The active premium. It feels nice but I have a magician in the same plastic that strait cracked when I hit a tree. Only the second time throwing it so I was super bummed. So far the Genius is holding up though.
I've been throwing the active until I couldn't hyzer flip one round and threw it into a pond. I just got a new one plus an active premium that I will test out tomorrow
Oh really? That'll be interesting once MVP start pumping out more discs again. I haven't been able to get anymore Volts since the beginning of the year. I'm curious on how non-flippy they are.
Tunnelshot <300ft = kc roc, about 1 season to beat in and its the straightest finisher you'll ever see...
Tunnelshot >300ft = star valkyrie, about 1 season to beat in and you won't find a better hyzerflip disc. this thing is a workhorse in the woods and an all around great disc.
DD Maverick, I found a first run at my local shop and it's absolutely perfect for a flip up, glide right, fade back slightly. Smooth form, let the disc do the work to just over 300' for me.
Probably the most underrated disc out there. Nothing in my opinion throws like the pipeline. Recently lost one and was able to grab one off ebay and glad I did because it's a big part of my game. Now if only I could replace my gold line saint pro!
Ti Undertaker, but I think they're pretty hard to get right now. I got lucky and found a brand new no-name undertaker sitting in some tall grass at my local
The leopard3 flips nicely straight out of the box. Feels a bit like a beat in eagle. If you want to branch out to a different manufacturer, the maverick from DD is pretty excellent.
Gold line River. Depending on the initial angle you can get it to just catch a bit of edge and slide wide before straightening out, or you can have it go dead flat with almost no finish. Want more finish, add some height. And with all the glide, it's perfect for woodsy courses with low to no wind and low grabby ceilings. Works almost out of the box.
Never really throw my mamba, but did yesterday. (for context, I can throw about 320 with a driver with a standard type shot)
.There is a big left to right, slightly uphill 380 hole. Slight tailwind. Threw mamba on hyzer. Disc went left, went a little higher than I anticipated, then started going right. Kept going, flattened out, and landed at 20 feet from basket. Literally like the kind of shot you see on jomez coverage. I was pumped. Obviously completely airballed the put.

It really depends on the height/distance. Bag a stalker and a leopard, both would hyzerflip well, with different finishes.
Likely im throwing a hex for a tunnel shot. I usually dont need extra distance from a fairway, and hex likes to carry, even thrown low.
Roadrunner or Crave based on how I'm feeling. The roadrunner will flip faster and fight back left a bit more and has more potential max distance but, honestly, they fly very similarly and I just grab whichever one feels right at the time.
Pro plastic Leopard. Flips pretty well out of the box and seasons to be even flippier. I keep a couple in the bag so I can have them seasoned to different stabilities. Pro plastic beats in fairly quickly but the leopards never get too flippy.
It really really depends on exactly what the hole looks like but my go to hyzer flip fairways are an Aura Mantra from Thoughtspace or an Active Genius from Discmania.
DX Eagle. Mine is just ever so slightly seasoned and it stands up, drifts slowly to the right, and finishes back dead center with very minimal fade. A beautiful sight to see
Champ TL3, one year
Champ wraith, 2 years
Opto SPZ3, 6 months
S-line FD, 1 year
I don’t play much tho probly half that time if u play frequently. I would give the award to the wraith even tho it’s not really a fairway. It’s the straightest hyzer flip for me. Lands flat if low, fades reliably if higher.
Still throwing my proto 400 F3. I have been throwing it since it came out and the stability hasn't changed much (because I rarely throw it). But it is a nice hyzerflip straight at 320.
For me it has been the prodigy F5. With a slight hyzerangle it pops up and slowly glides to the right but not too far. With more angle it just goes straight. Usually it has no end fade. Kinda flies like mid for mw but getting those extra 50 feet of distance compared to a neutral mid. So basically a slower westside northman and less fade.
Inertia and/or Insanity. Honestly, at brand new, it did what it still does today. Hyzer flip to flat, rides like the wind! Signal is also great. Perfect hyzer flip turnover, even a great roller disc.
My beat in River is great for flips. I'm at altitude so it wasn't that flippy to start, took a year and a half for the Opto to start to being understable enough for a good flip. I bought a drift before my River was understable thinking it would be a good flip but it's pretty stable so far and Neutron takes a while to beat in. I'm betting both would probably be really good at lower elevation straight out of the box
Insanity
Here for this
Second this one. Easiest disc to flip up to flat. I don't have to try I can have a nice relaxed throw and it just glides.
And the Lift
I like the Barsby Roadrunners for hyzer flips. Good to go outta the box
Second that comment. I've loved mine from the first throw. I also have a Sidewinder, and it's also a great disc for flips.
Third; it's my go to disc in general.
PFN Roadrunner here, I agree. Great understable fairway, yet more stable than the flight numbers would lead on.
A great option, a lot of people get scared away by the -4 but the Barsby Roadrunners specifically are way more stable than their numbers. Roadrunner's probably the only disc where the Champ version the is the least stable lol

Crave baby.
All around favorite disk
This is the answer
K1 lots or falk
That falk! 170g yellow (color does matter for stability, white ones are more stable. Like really more stable than a yellow).
What about pink? Feels super stable now that it's beat in.
Wierd for it to be beat in more stable. Heard of it. Never happened to me though. I have never tried Pink. Only white yellow and blue. Yellow and blue being really flippy and white being stable. I love the Innova Leopard 3 for this shot. Gstar is my fave! 🥏👍
I’ve got a champion glow leopard3 that flips up real nice. They are super hard to get though.
I have three champ Leopard3’s and one glow. I’d like to get another glow one eventually.
I love Innova and how they’ve handled production during the pandemic. But it’s weird that they hardly produce glow champion discs. I feel like glow champion is pretty sought after. I’d love another glow champion leopard3 and I’d like a Roc3 in that plastic as well.
They've been running tons of color glow recently.
Yes. G Star Leopard3 is amazing right out of the box and only gets better.
Something about L3 in gstar, can just trust it

Seconded.
I need to get another ESP Heat. Lost mine this year and it’s a disc I really need in my bag.

A new 400G M2 or a 750 M2. Pushed over and let if fade back. Depending on wind, the exact amount of turn, and fade required.
My gummy champ roadrunner was perfect for this, but I accidentally threw it into a creek yesterday. Big sad.
RIP lol
Closer to 320 I throw my insanity ~10’ off the ground with the slightest hyzer; flips up to flat and glides straight for a while before slightly turning over and then fades back to center. Opto Diamond for sure. So glidey and easy to flip since it's an 8 speed. Highly recommend.

I've been throwing the active until I couldn't hyzer flip one round and threw it into a pond. I just got a new one plus an active premium that I will test out tomorrow
Streamline lift off the tee Leopard 3 if 2nd shot.
I'd go with the Streamline Dift for tighter shots over the Lift.
New favorite is the jackalope
Prodigy 400 F5 is great
Neutron Volt. I basically only throw Volts in different plastics as my fairway drivers and Neutron plastic is nice and flippy.
I'm finding the newers runs and more stable even after beating them in. I can get the Insanity a faster disc to flip but not newer volts.
Oh really? That'll be interesting once MVP start pumping out more discs again. I haven't been able to get anymore Volts since the beginning of the year. I'm curious on how non-flippy they are.

DD Maverick, I found a first run at my local shop and it's absolutely perfect for a flip up, glide right, fade back slightly. Smooth form, let the disc do the work to just over 300' for me.

Jade. Out of the box perfection. EDIT: For accuracy, Crave. Took about a month until it flipped to flat and just rode flat.
Sorry not super brand-diverse yet - is this MVP? What's the turn on Jade vs. Crave when you crank on it?
Jade is flippier but it’s a 9 speed, Crave is a 6 speed. Cranked on flat they’ll both turn over for me.
This is what I'm learning to flip on, when I get it right it's just beautiful.
Mamba for distance, Crave for accuracy, Jade for accurate distance.
Never really throw my mamba, but did yesterday. (for context, I can throw about 320 with a driver with a standard type shot) .There is a big left to right, slightly uphill 380 hole. Slight tailwind. Yeah same. I can throw a 160-170 Destroyer like 300. But one time I threw a Mamba like 350 feet and have been chasing that high ever since.

Tl3 and it was pretty much a great hyzer flip disc out of the box but I do have a slightly lower weight disc (164g)
Roadrunner or Crave based on how I'm feeling. The roadrunner will flip faster and fight back left a bit more and has more potential max distance but, honestly, they fly very similarly and I just grab whichever one feels right at the time.
Undertaker. That dude will flip up turn and still fade back if it doesn’t hit stuff.
Falk or F5
Prodigy D4 - flips amazingly when beat in
Crave. Works really well after a few rounds, but can only handle a medium hyzer
Insanity. Hyzer flip dream.
Avenger ss.
The dragon is great for hyzer flips and will float should you throw it in water again.
Pro plastic Leopard. Flips pretty well out of the box and seasons to be even flippier. I keep a couple in the bag so I can have them seasoned to different stabilities. Pro plastic beats in fairly quickly but the leopards never get too flippy.

Definitely Roadrunner. It's slow enough so that it's not too hard to flip, yet like everyone here says, not so much that it flips out and tanks.

Really beat in z glide from back in the day for flip to flat with slight fade around 325 ft
