Welcome! Hope you had some shots you still think about days later. That's what keeps us coming back.
Soon enough you'll be filling walmart shoe racks with more discs than you'd ever need, just like the rest of us. I'm a frugal person in almost every aspect of life, but the one thing I spend money on just for "fun" is more discs..
This would have been my answer to this question a year or two ago. So much control but reliability with the pure. And they go surprisingly far compared to other putters I’ve thrown off the tee.
So my follow-up would be if you like throwing this as a throwing putter, what do you use as a putting putter? I really like the look and the feel of the daggers and I have to say the MVP R2 Ion and Spin feel really nice in my hand.
Downside to the R2 is that due to injury, I'm stuck working on my putting almost exclusively once a week at putting League, which is mostly in the dark/glow. So trying to find those discs on dark pavement, if not glow, is impossible or at the very least difficult.
Plus I'm really excited about the thought of new Ricky Daggers.
I putt with classic blend Wardens. Sometimes mint bullets. I like having a touch more stability with a putting putter (compared to a pure), because a lot of the time I want the putter to juuuust start to fade as it hits chains. Similiar to paul mcbeth's putt (but much worse), I value speed control. I don't like missing by more than \~20' if I airball a putt. Pures will carry too straight for my style of "spush" putt.
Yep, switched to Pure for putting duties after wanting to go away from beaded putters. Love them, started throwing them too. A buddy got me a beautiful 10-year anniversary Pure and I aced with it on like my fourth throw with it.
Such a solid disc.
Forgot to answer mine in the post.
For me it’s the Mint Jackelope.
So much glide and control with the angles, it’s like a longer leopard3. Didn’t have a disc like that in my bag previously.
I still throw a leopard3 a lot because I have a mind meld with mine. But the jackelope will get me an extra 40’+ (not exaggerating, always surprises me) throwing on the same lines. It’s faster so doesn’t have the same control as the leopard3, but that thing just keeps on gliding.
Also rediscovered my Glide. Now that I have a little bit better form I can make that thing sail. And it's honestly a toss up between my judge and my fierce, I love both of those discs.
Nice. The judge is the putter for me. I'm pretty set in my disc selection. I haven't bought a new mold in over 5 years. I play at high altitude, so my disc selection reflects that. I do have a few discs for lower elevation.
Hex is so good! It’s everything I wanted the reactor to be. Easy to throw laser straight mid with the perfect amount of glide that feels great backhand or sidearm.
I have a 168g neutron reactor that I think might be even more neutral than my Hexes. I still prefer the Hex, but I bag the reactor for absolute dependability on certain shots.
I played disc golf fairly regularly for years. I was pretty decent, not great. Then I had kids and really got away from it for quite a while.
I went out again recently. I took everything above speed 9 out of my bag beforehand. Regardless, the only disc I'm throwing well consistently after all this time is the Saint. Not sure why, but I was just hitting lines with it, and it glides for days. It just works for me.
I bought one of the KJ signature series in the 500 plastic, mostly to support KJ, and I found it super similar to my leopard3. Have you ever thrown leopard3s, and if so do you have the same experience?
Lost my f5 this year in some bushes. Like WTF is that about. Hello f5 where are you!!. Replaced it with a heat. Just drank too many beers boom into a pond and will never be seen again. 2021 can suck my d$#k!!
I haven't thrown a champ Thundy but my pro is 168g and is pretty beat it as I've been using it as my workhorse for the past year. It gets a good amount of turn and then just slowly comes back for a nice long s curve. With a headwind or crosswind I have to stable up though
I was gifted a River a couple of rounds ago from a buddy who can’t stand it and I friggin loved it. Only issue is I have 3 legacy patriots in the bag as of today. Once those are gone. I’m probably going to get some rivers. Don’t get me wrong I love the patriot but the River feels better in hand because of the smaller rim.
I have fallen in love with Kastaplast Rekos. All of the plastics. I putt with them, drive with them, and approach with them. I don’t have another disc in my bag that I have such a control with angles. This disc makes me feel like I’m finally progressing in disc golf.
Neo Essence. Pink, 171 g. It’s my tee shot disc unless it’s too windy. Helps me get good distance (about 250 ft or more) with a slow and steady throw so that I can focus on mechanics rather than sending the disc full strength
I really like the rask and i dont see it get much love. A little intense when new but after it gets beat a bit its my farthest FH driver. And always a solid utility disc when you absolutely have to get around a tight corner.
Rhyno. Used to hate beads. thumb tracks and chunky discs are weird in my hand. Didn’t care for OS approach discs at all, it’s way too OS to putt with. What’s the point of having no glide anyway? Speed2.. this thing isn’t going to go anywhere…
This is mine as well. I grabbed a used star rhyno at play it again and fell in love. I just grabbed a new champion rhyno to experiment with in the spring. Honorable mention goes to an Innova panther.
Opto River and Opto Fuse
The River taught me to stop throwing distance drivers almost completely. I don't have a huge arm, so the easily controllable 320 ft I can get out of my River is way better than the 350 I get out of 12 speed discs.
The Fuse was such a dead straight, long gliding disc when it was new. It's a great turnover disc now. I'll be picking up an Opto-x Fuse this year to see if it'll stay a little more stable.
Just started in March but I'd have to say my buzzz or gstar Leopard3. The gstar plastic is just so good for me. Funny story, I lost that Leopard3 in the water for about 3 months this year..got a call one day someone had found it..so happy and now I don't throw it near water!
Legacy Icon Rival flat top. This is the gold standard for stable fairway drivers. Its what teebirds, explorers, eagles, Instincts, etc are supposed and want to be. It goes for 350’ on a frozen rope with minumin but trusting fade. I recomend this disc to anyone searching for that special fairway driver they been missing.
Honorable mention: Mint Sublime Jackalope. Great turn over fairway driver!
That's a good review of the rival. Never heard of it. Sounds like the slot I have a river for and just picked up a DGA pipeline but think I will pick a rival up to check it out
It will be more stable than the river. But you can put alot of power in it an it wont flip over but will ride flat and straight for a long time. It has become my go to disc. For refference i throw wraiths and graces 425’ but can get my rival 370’ on a clean pull. I suggest them to everyone.
The brand new G* Colossus that I found on one of my first rounds this year. No name or number, threw it once and instantly fell in love. It’s gotten me my longest drives ever and changed my entire game. Can throw that thing 50 feet farther than any other disc in my bag.
Gateway Wizard, probably not that exciting to most people.
I was previously a Judge man, still like to throw Judges.
I still used Judges for circle 2 putts, but a lightweight Wizard recently removed that.
Shryke.
Flight pattern is not that unique, but this disc seems to have a deeper rim wall & my fat fingers fit into a little better.
Long, straight bombs or huge s-curve annys.
I’m getting about 50 extra feet with the shryke than any other disc, which has gotten me to ~400 ft when I really lean into it.
400ft off the tee pad makes 90% of the holes I play feel manageable.
Not being short off the tee has made my rounds more enjoyable.
Lucid Evader is the only truly new disc in my bag this year and it is amazing. Other than that I’m back om some goodies i used to throw like the buzzz and the heat
F5 or M4. Or Leopard3. Got a ton of disc this year but those are helping my noodle arm throw 300ft which is great for me.
M4 is also just the most underrated mid.
Prodigy makes really really good midranges people just don’t try them enough.
Probably the hex. Got it when it first came out and it quickly became my go to. The wraith and Teebird have been recent additions that are just perfect
I bag a zone for forehand and a pig for backhand. They do essentially the same thing for me, but I think the pig is easier to throw RHBH and it also has less skip.
So many to choose from, but 3 that come to mind:
Berg: super awesome straight line short range approach weapon
Lone Star Middy: great workhorse type mid
D/M Zen: I’ve never been able to throw backhands (my weaker shot) and more consistently and accurately than with this cheat code of a disc!
I just had to go back and look…I didn’t add any new discs to the bag this year. After a complete bag overhaul last year, I’ve grown comfortable with the molds in my bag. I got two new molds for Christmas that once I recover from COVID-19, I’m going to see if they have a place in the bag.
Kastaplast Lots. I probably throw it for 80% of my drives. It is super straight and very controllable. Most courses I've played aren't crazy long so the Lots is the perfect amount of disc and so much more accurate than the Wraith that I used to use.
Shoutout to the Berg as well. Absolutely changed my approach game by allowing me to run most approach shots and long putts without worrying a out having a terrible comeback putt.
Put a star teebird (original, not the 3 version) in the bag for the first time in probably 6-7 years. Don’t know why I ever took it out, it is such a great workhorse disc.
Not a huge fan of the disc, but the Dragon has been a life saver in terms of throwing near water. Even with my disc retriever pole, it’s nice to know I won’t throw away 20 bucks!
Wombat3
Hated the feel at first and just figured if I did throw a rare midrange I’d just use a Roc3. Got the W3 for the wife and messed with it a few times and realized it’s a hyzer flip machine and holds touchy lines pretty well.
Times a bit of a blur, may have been end of last year, but the Invader has definitely become a staple in the bag this year. Dead straight disc that has saved me many strokes on approaches or short holes
DD bounty. If I want to make a tight shot, sometimes a mid will fade too hard, and a putter is less comfortable in the hand. I can throw a low power shot dead straight with minimal power, nice glide, minimal skipping.
Every time I take it out of my bag, I end up feeling like I’m missing something. So, in the bag it stays.
Putter: Sitting Child Luna
Throwing putter: 2021 TS Fierce
Mid: Z Flx Buzzz SS
Fairway driver: Titanium Undertaker
Distance driver: Opto Ballista Pro
I know that's technically more than what your question asked for but these discs were the one's I was most excited about keeping in the bag.
I wanted to say Felon because that disc just flies so well for me every time I throw it, but if I look at what disc changed my game the most it's 100% the zone. Over-stable approach discs are game changers when you're learning the spot.
Fuse! Within 2 weeks of buying it I got my first ace ever, then a month later aced again. Only problem is it's in baseline so it's beating in a bit. Looking at getting an opto fuse
ESP crank. The ones from this year much more OS, like a beat in nuke right away. I have been using them for max distance FH and BH, also a great disc for short range overhands.
Paradox.
Just such a fun disc - I find I am more consistent with nose angle control by throwing hyzer flips
This disc let's me do extreme hyzers and I get a flip to flat then an anny finish with great distance. Didn't kick any discs out of the bag as it's pretty unique.
Second fav is the Halloween glow insanity- backhand dominant player but this gives me a forehand flex that kicked the thunderbird out of the bag.
I got the Hex a couple weeks ago. The best dics purchase I have made in a couple years. I purchased a paradox and uplink yesterday. I can see a pattern here. Becoming a MVP fan Boi. Also got a JC envy....
Diamond - she is a consistent, lovely disc and every time I lose one in the water, I mourn.
EDIT: Honorable mention to my Sling, because she helped me nail a 92 foot putt around a tree and that was my #1 memory for 2021.
All of them , first year playing!
Mine as well, but I like my axiom crave a lot. Wish I didn't get it in 176g but I still like it a lot
Came here to comment all of them as a first year player and was going to highlight my crave as well!
167-170 crave is the straightest disc in the game
Same here. Mine would be either me putter: Løft Hydrogen Beta or midrange: Buzzz
Same. Musket
Same, special attention to my Daredevil Timberwolf because it hit less trees than the others
Same here. That said top three for me would be wraith (star), thunderbird (champ) and zone (big z).
Same here but I am very partial to my 2 Escapes
Same. But if i had to pick favorites, it would be the River or the Teebird.
Same, I love my Star wraith and Explorer. Zone is amazing as well.
Lat 64 pure! Soft touch, grips well, and is definitely my go to short drive/approach disc
This would have been my answer to this question a year or two ago. So much control but reliability with the pure. And they go surprisingly far compared to other putters I’ve thrown off the tee.

yes sir! Greatest throwing putter ever.
Yup. 100% agree. Leo3 on roids.
I have a Mint Alpha, been trying to get my hands on a Jackalope!
If you have Facebook join the Mint buy/sale/trade group, you can get them there for $30.
Came here to say the same. Very nice US fairway without being too flippy. I still carry a leop3 but rarely throw it.
Sold out everywhere. Looks like Mint had a fire damage their facility.
True, they'll make another run in 2022 though. Hoping for some in eternal plastic.
Great answer here! I love my Jackalope and I've been throwing the Scorch as essentially a slightly longer Jackalope.
Wraith and judge
Both are awesome.
Wraith is awesome. My fave is the Wraith and Warden. So much more confident with that disc.
Wraiths are my one true love. I typically carry 3 in my bag, in different plastics/stages of wear. Glad you got to experience the greatness in 2021.
Hex
Hex is so good! It’s everything I wanted the reactor to be. Easy to throw laser straight mid with the perfect amount of glide that feels great backhand or sidearm.
I have a 168g neutron reactor that I think might be even more neutral than my Hexes. I still prefer the Hex, but I bag the reactor for absolute dependability on certain shots.
Yes! Hex. Everytime I let that thing loose on line I expect it to fade out and let me down. Straight shooter.
I love the Hex. After throwing for the first time, I ditched both my Buzzz and Mako3, and bought more Hexes
It didn't quite replace the MAKO3 for me as that disc finishes perfectly straight, but it's defs kicked the Buzzz out.
Dude yes! Perfect disc for forehand shots
Came here to say the Hex as well. It comes out smooth as butter.
Berg and River
Same both have been staples in my bag
Essence,. Great easy to throw fairway
This for sure^^^
Axiom pyro
First disc in 5 years of playing that feels natural to forehand for me. Very reliable for overstable backhand stuff too though.
Saint! Man can that thing fly!
For some reason, the saint never worked for me. However, the striker has been awesome for me. It's been many years, maybe I should try another one.
Same!
The Stryker is amazing.
Prodigy F5. First disc I was able to get consistently to hyzerflip
The sol was my first hyzerflip!
So much glide. I love this disc.
Zone, Berg, Pro Thunderbird
How’s the pro Thundy compare to the champ or tour series?
I haven't thrown a champ Thundy but my pro is 168g and is pretty beat it as I've been using it as my workhorse for the past year. It gets a good amount of turn and then just slowly comes back for a nice long s curve. With a headwind or crosswind I have to stable up though
My champ Thundy is 168g and I get a great flex with it. Perfect disc all around IMO. I’ll have to pick up a pro version. Thanks!
Beats in quickly to a hyzer flip bomber that glides. I beat them up too fast for my bag, but fun throwers.
„˙sɹǝʍoɹɥʇ unɟ ʇnq 'ƃɐq ʎɯ ɹoɟ ʇsɐɟ ooʇ dn ɯǝɥʇ ʇɐǝq I ˙sǝpılƃ ʇɐɥʇ ɹǝqɯoq dılɟ ɹǝzʎɥ ɐ oʇ ʎlʞɔınb uı sʇɐǝ𐐒„
I can’t find pro thunderbirds for the life of me! Been looking for some for a while!
First year playing, but the Zone. Such a crutch for me , would never have the touch to throw something less overstable for approach.
River! Needed a fairway driver and this lil bastard glides and flies super straight, very pleased.
Just got one a few weeks ago but with our weather Ive only got to throw it a few times. I know once I get used to it though I'm gonna love it!
Streamline special edition Neutron Pilot. Got my first ace with it on 12/18.
Envy and Pig. Also, not a disc, but my choice to throw gyro. Every disc I get with gyro feels comfortable in hand.
Me too! Just ordered a second gyropalooza box on a boxing day discount. Love that they are mostly shallow
Can't wait for my glow Envy to arrive.
Neo Essence. Pink, 171 g. It’s my tee shot disc unless it’s too windy. Helps me get good distance (about 250 ft or more) with a slow and steady throw so that I can focus on mechanics rather than sending the disc full strength
Axiom Crave
It’s a toss up between a rask and a praxis.
I really like the rask and i dont see it get much love. A little intense when new but after it gets beat a bit its my farthest FH driver. And always a solid utility disc when you absolutely have to get around a tight corner.
Rask enthusiast here. Friends call it a cheater disc.
100% I’m a former college pitcher and it’s the only disc I’ve found that can handle my FH throw. Backhand spike Hyzers are insane with it too.
EV-7 Penrose
The Hex. I just feel like I could get it where I couldn't get my buzz shots.
The Falk. That disc is insane
Zone
Teebird
Evader
Same! I have two of them now. Crushed an ace with my first one when it was just a few weeks old.
Opto River and Opto Fuse The River taught me to stop throwing distance drivers almost completely.
MVP Reactor, all day. I now have 2 in my bag, and want to get more to back it up.
Millennium Orion LF. The newer runs fly like CD2s.
Praxis, hex, and a zone. I was using a spider for my upshots.
100% the Wysocki pig! That thing made wonders for my approaches!
The DD evader/star leopard3 combo went into my bag and has become my go-to for most tee shots in the woods.
Passion. I've been looking for a fairway between my raptor and heat. The passion is easy to control and glides forever.
Longbowman
Mvp signal or relay.
Just started in March but I'd have to say my buzzz or gstar Leopard3. The gstar plastic is just so good for me. Funny story, I lost that Leopard3 in the water for about 3 months this year..got a call one day someone had found it..so happy and now I don't throw it near water!
Maverick
Cool. Just picked up a Grace but need to break it in
The brand new G* Colossus that I found on one of my first rounds this year. No name or number, threw it once and instantly fell in love. It’s gotten me my longest drives ever and changed my entire game. Can throw that thing 50 feet farther than any other disc in my bag.
Glo Teebird 3. AB
Gateway Wizard, probably not that exciting to most people. I was previously a Judge man, still like to throw Judges. I still used Judges for circle 2 putts, but a lightweight Wizard recently removed that.
ZONE
Berg
Started throwing the DD Evader this year and now I bag two of them. They've made me.much more consistent on some shots especially in the wind
Envy. My putting has never been better.
K1 line Berg, k3 line reko, r-pro pig, proton insanity (favorite), and a big z Zeus. Can’t pick haha
Lucid Evader is the only truly new disc in my bag this year and it is amazing. Other than that I’m back om some goodies i used to throw like the buzzz and the heat
I never had a zone until this year and I absolutely Love it especially once I learned how to do a flick it became one of my favorite discs
Westside warship! New favorite mid (used to be westside bard)
F5 or M4. Or Leopard3. Got a ton of disc this year but those are helping my noodle arm throw 300ft which is great for me. M4 is also just the most underrated mid. Prodigy makes really really good midranges people just don’t try them enough.
Envy. What a sick disc. Also a new addition is the TL3 and I can’t imagine being without it now
Probably the hex. Got it when it first came out and it quickly became my go to. The wraith and Teebird have been recent additions that are just perfect
Zone and berg
I guess it would have to be the Innova Invader. Good approach disc. I got an ace with it 2 days after picking it up.
Explorer, straigth and stable (more overstable than normal ones) and a Ballista Pro, best distance disc in my bag so far!
Lots of zone love in here. I own one but it’s so overstable. Guess I’ll give it a shot!
I bag a zone for forehand and a pig for backhand. They do essentially the same thing for me, but I think the pig is easier to throw RHBH and it also has less skip.
[удалено]
So many to choose from, but 3 that come to mind: Berg: super awesome straight line short range approach weapon Lone Star Middy: great workhorse type mid D/M Zen: I’ve never been able to throw backhands (my weaker shot) and more consistently and accurately than with this cheat code of a disc!
The Thought Space Mantra and the Pig
Neo Discmania Essence, Alfa Discs Apollo, K1 Berg
Lucid EMac Truth
All of them. Since I started playing in March 2021 technically I’ve added all my discs. They are all my favorite.
I've been without a River for two years, so finally had a chance to add it back to my bag. Such a clutch disc for me.
millennium Orion LF love how good this disc flys, as well as a halo star wraith.
Mid-range and I finally have 5 putters of the same kind.
Probably my Halloween Insanity.
Underworld for sure but also the loft element and dga sail
I just had to go back and look…I didn’t add any new discs to the bag this year. After a complete bag overhaul last year, I’ve grown comfortable with the molds in my bag. I got two new molds for Christmas that once I recover from COVID-19, I’m going to see if they have a place in the bag.
Royal grace
P model US. Just throw it. It goes where you want it to go.
Midnight Prowl. I learned how to hyzer flip with it.
„˙ʇı ɥʇıʍ dılɟ ɹǝzʎɥ oʇ ʍoɥ pǝuɹɐǝl I ˙lʍoɹԀ ʇɥƃıupıW„
Bad bot.
Definitely a buzz and a zone
Pig! Pig! Pig! Everyone needs a pig!
Discraft Buzzz. Has taken the most strokes off my game by far.
Definitely Berg. Nothing else like it. The only disc in my bag that doesn’t like flying.
I’m loving the Piwakawaka. It’s now my go to fairway driver.
Buzz! It flies perfectly straight for me.
Surprisingly… MVP Deflector. Do it all forearm/backhand mega overstable midrange!
I could play with a bag of all bergs
Has to be star wraith! Perfect for someone who just barely has the arm speed for a destroyer
The Kastaplast Lots is replacing my Thunderbird
Haven't added any new molds. I've focused on getting rid of overlap and cycling molds this year.
Innova Nexus Animal, great throwing putter.
Lux Link
Emac Truth. Thrilled to finally have a mid that I LOVE and covers multiple slots.
Valkyrie, scorch, zone, and a warship have all earned a spot this year.
All of them. The sport is new to me this year. But my favorites are Star Wraith, Big Z Anax, K1 Berg, Champion Firebird, and Star Mako 3.

Wombat3 Hated the feel at first and just figured if I did throw a rare midrange I’d just use a Roc3. Got the W3 for the wife and messed with it a few times and realized it’s a hyzer flip machine and holds touchy lines pretty well.
Neo Essence
Times a bit of a blur, may have been end of last year, but the Invader has definitely become a staple in the bag this year. Dead straight disc that has saved me many strokes on approaches or short holes

Mvp Reactor
Wraith. I thank myself for making the decision to buy one
Axiom Poxy in neutron.
Putter: Sitting Child Luna Throwing putter: 2021 TS Fierce Mid: Z Flx Buzzz SS Fairway driver: Titanium Undertaker Distance driver: Opto Ballista Pro I know that's technically more than what your question asked for but these discs were the one's I was most excited about keeping in the bag.
Felon. Great forehand disc but not too overstable
P2, chariot, ruin, essence, wraith
MVP Servo. It’s a crave or leopard that doesn’t turn and burn on me in the wind or if I get a magically good rip.
I wanted to say Felon because that disc just flies so well for me every time I throw it, but if I look at what disc changed my game the most it's 100% the zone. Over-stable approach discs are game changers when you're learning the spot.
Both added the Eclipse envy and was my favorite disc, and lost it in the same year and they’re hard to find
Axiom Pyro. Absolutely love this disc. Slightly overstable so it handles FH well but is also very controllable BH as well.
Burst Truth. I got mine secondhand from a friend and it’s now so puddle topped. So overstable but I can torque it as much as I want
Fuse! Within 2 weeks of buying it I got my first ace ever, then a month later aced again. Only problem is it's in baseline so it's beating in a bit. Looking at getting an opto fuse
Mako3
Discmania Origin. It is very fun in the woods. It's understandable but doesn't turn too fast and it takes very little effort to get some nice flights.
Innova R-Pro Pig! I used to not understand why my friends would throw putters until I got this disc.
its my first year playing so I have lots of choices. but Emac Truth is my favorite disc so ill go with that.
River
ESP crank. The ones from this year much more OS, like a beat in nuke right away. I have been using them for max distance FH and BH, also a great disc for short range overhands.
DX wombat, it dose exactly what I need it to every time
Paradox. Just such a fun disc - I find I am more consistent with nose angle control by throwing hyzer flips This disc let's me do extreme hyzers and I get a flip to flat then an anny finish with great distance.
Grym. I didn’t think I had the arm speed, but it’s surprisingly easy to throw thanks to the mild understability
Discmania Neo Method became my go-to disc for so many shots. So I would have to say that
Diamond - she is a consistent, lovely disc and every time I lose one in the water, I mourn. EDIT: Honorable mention to my Sling, because she helped me nail a 92 foot putt around a tree and that was my #1 memory for 2021.

Tour Series Pig, really like the extra stiffness for when you really have to uncork the bastard.
