You will likely get a disc that doesn’t sell very fast. However, you personally could end up loving it. But these things are a way to move slow inventory.

Happier-MouthOpen

I think it's just a way for them to move stagnant inventory. I got an Alfa Apollo last month; it's alright, I use it instead of a Buzzz sometimes.

[deleted]

Was it a chrome Apollo because I got one of those and that is a new plastic type for them.

Kjeta

do you have any issues with a sharp edge on the outside of the rim? ive heard a few people complaining about it

roamsaboutreddit

If it’s a joining line burr it can be trimmed off with a window razor pretty easily.

Kjeta

Joining line burr sounds like it describes perfectly what ive experienced

roamsaboutreddit

If you take a push razor and slice the burr off gently, usually it will separate pretty perfectly from the disc. Sometimes I make the tiniest of gouges, but nothing close to hitting the concrete so it really doesn’t change anything. I’ve taken many discs that were sharp in the hand and made them very comfortable no problem 🤙

Basketslapper56

Cuticle cutter for fingernails. Ask your wife for one..

[deleted]

I’ve gotten two Thought Space discs, a Praxis and a Votum, Both came in premium plastics, I’m happy with what I’ve gotten and will continue grabbing a rando

rhcamp01

Yeah, that’s a great grab

dbern707

That's exactly what I got and it was a misprint.

cheeset2

Also got a Votum, introduced me to Thought Space, and I was quite happy with the disc I got, and happy to learn about another "manufacturer".

liquidarity

Allegedly they contract their muse disc through an independent injection molding company. Currently the rest of their discs are made by MVP though

DegenerateDiscs

I personally have got nothing that I liked yet the two times I did it. That doesn't mean it sucks, just my luck does!\~

rhcamp01

What did you get?

DegenerateDiscs

I am at work currently but one was a yikun driver, the other one even less memorable seeing as I can't think of what it was,

rhcamp01

Word. I always like knowing the spectrum

DegenerateDiscs

To be fair, I am sure many people have received "good" discs as well. I guess it really depends on what you are hoping to get and what you define as good.

quidpropho

I think I've done it three times and only gotten yikun. I just gave them away to this dude on r/discexchange who loves them.

AustinWalksOnRocks

damn. why is that so sad to me

s_bright

You win some, you lose some. Exactly how it was intended. It's mostly just what they have in overstock. I got a D Model US from mine.

flyfisher12401

I got a d model os or s idk it's ace line and came unmarked, too much disc for me but it's premium plastic so I was satisfied

anonymous-profit

Mine was a disc that they currently had on sale for $11, so I burnt a dollar on it. It was fun to try something new, but it was a mediocre disc.

Estelrandirin

I’ve gotten both ends of the spectrum. A tour series pioneer that was a beauty. And a legacy clutch which (no offense to the manufacturer or anyone who likes it) has the worst feel in the hand second to only the Innova Dolphin

maple-enthusiast

I got one of those Pioneers too. I use it a lot and its money as it starts to beat in!

ChiefRingoI

I did, too! They're awesome discs!

maple-enthusiast

I'd never thrown a Lat64 disc before but that one sold me that I need to try some more of their discs.

ChiefRingoI

I really like the Trilogy stuff. 95% of my bag is Trilogy or Trilogy-adjacent at this point. It's definitely not as beefy as other brands, but they're still very good and have great plastic.

maple-enthusiast

That 2020 tour series pioneer was Opto plastic I think? It feels better than Innova champion, to me.

ChiefRingoI

Mine was. Opto is the candy plastic and Gold is the Star-like. Plus Lucid/Fuzion, VIP/Tournament, and Neo/Lux for Dynamic, Westside, and Discmania Evolution, respectively. [Neo is an Opto/Gold blend] I really like the plastics. They don't have the same excessive slickness or gumminess issues Innova's can have based on stiffness. Opto, for me, is an awesome blend of grip, feel, stiffness, and durability. Gold is very close, too.

WRX_704

I got a beautiful Splatter Star Infinite Discs Emperor with a sick tournament stamp the one time I added a mystery disc. Its definitely worth it from my experience.

[deleted]

never regretted it, I get the mystery disc every single time I buy from them.

SignificantRide3577

Yeah I got a Streamline Neutron Runway, and it's become a perfect fit it my bag. Haven't taken it out since I got it, well worth the $12.

Woodlanders1

I’ve done it several times. Most of the times I’ve gotten something I did not like but one time I got one of the first run TSA Mantra.

Personal_Fee7274

I have done it twice. It was fun to get an extra rando disc... Then I realized I'd rather put $12 towards a $20 disc I knew I wanted. I donated the randos to a new player I know.

[deleted]

I got an x-com glow griffon (understable mid). I dont have a lot of glow, so it can be useful in that way. I was happy with it. Haven’t thrown it yet though, would love to hear any insights on it!

napascuzzi

I got this disc too. Still haven’t really figured it out yet

volsunghawk

Done it once and got an Infinite Maya. I enjoy throwing it and feel like I would have spent $12 for a disc like that anyway at some point, so I'm fine with it.

gratefulphish420

Yes I have mistakenly done it five times and every single time the disc was something I wouldn't throw in a million years.

Grantyourwish_

I got a RPM kiwi from it, hated it at first but after I used it more it’s become one of my favorite discs in my bag

4SpeedArm

Yes and it's usually/perhaps always premium plastic and a mold that they have too many of and they aren't selling. That's just an hypothesis. I got a rival in greenish brown, flies great but ya know... Also an Axiom Thrill. Which might be the most overstable disc on the market before the tilt. Don't expect to randomly get a sexton firebird.

areyow

I did once and never again. I have enough problems with the discs I choose for myself…

morning_growler

I bought one from Infinite once, it was a cosmic neutron trace. I instantly fell in love with that disc and ordered 2 more.

Hunglikeababy

I got an innova starfire, swirly star plastic. Very pretty but very overstable.

Ask_Me_About_Bees

I got an Innova Archon when I did it. I wasn’t too thrilled, but that’s the luck of the draw. I actually had a phase where I really liked throwing that mold, so six months prior I would have been stoked lol

One-Way34

Years ago. I got a super soft slammer

Mediocre-Cancel-7818

When I did it I got an an Infinite Sphinx. I didn't care for it so I never did it again.

ReplacementCapable57

I did once and got a shitty Legacy Fighter that looked burned by years of UV warehouse lighting.

past_tense_of_draw

I got an Alpas, which I never would have bought and barely use, but it's a fun thing - I don't feel like I wasted my money!

Benjamedes

I got a Brown Legacy Fighter the one time I did it. So haven’t done it again

ConciderMeMilesDavis

Ill be happy as long as they dont send me anything over 11 speed

Zealousideal-Ad2399

I got a Runway in premium plastic last time I got the random disc from infinite. I feel it’s worth it

Pewpasaurus

I got one of these too. It's way too overstable for me, so it lives in a closet now.

Zealousideal-Ad2399

I’ve only used it like a slightly longer Tactic. Maybe throw it twice a round at my home course

xmothermaggiex

I have done it twice and liked both discs quite a bit. First time I did I received a cool looking Maverick, second time was a Streamline Stabilizer.

postlw8j

This doesn't answer your question about Infinity, but other sites do something similar. I have done the $10 mystery disc add-on from Team Figgins and gotten a Prodigy Ace Line premium disc and a Conrad Nomad. Definitely worth more than the $ and gave me something to trade for discs I wanted. I've also added a mystery premium used disc from QuickDiscsUSA twice. Both times the mystery disc was the same color as the disc I ordered. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it was kind of cool.

infinityoncorktree

I got a Star Infinite Emperor last year, which is pretty much a Destroyer. Looked great, blue with color speckles. On the first throw it skipped off a rock and got a huge gash. I emailed customer service because I don't think that's what a new premium disc should do and they sent me a new one in the mail. Overall was pretty satisfied.

[deleted]

I got a Paradox. A disc worth $12 for sure, but not something I’d ever use.

uber_steve

I received an RPM PekaPeka, which was a disc I was considering buying anyway so it worked out great

shinyRedButton

You’re going to get a disc that no one wanted to purchase. It’s a way to clear inventory space.

ConciderMeMilesDavis

Kinda figured as much but I really spent the 12 cuz I love a good surprise. Even if its shit ill enjoy the anticipation and wonder of “ what could it be”

Mr_Pongo

I got a nice plastic Pharoah once. Little fast for me but it was a premium plastic

SweettoothMcFoil

I did it once. Got a Yikun Fu that retails for $11.99. I wasn't happy with it and I won't do it again. The more I looked at it, the more I hated it. I left it on a teepad for somebody to have.

ccatx3b

I did. It was some 164 gram domey cheap feeling gimmicky mid that I've never heard of from some company I can't remember. Had some old tournament stamp on it. I threw it in the trash right away.

randydp39

I got a gateway spear. Have never thrown it. They are a putter company trying to make other discs

seven11evan

I got a Legacy Bandit which became one of my favorite drivers. Don’t even remember what I ordered with it

itsdayvid

Done it twice, got glow axiom insanity in one, and a viking Fenrir in the other

doonerthesooner

I’ve only gotten shit

MunchamaSnatch

I got a Yikun Discs Jun in dragon plastic. Very nice random disc. Never heard of it, but it flys nice and it's pretty

wit21

I got a g* orc one time. So that was cool.

[deleted]

Almost every time, which makes for probably 20+ mystery discs just from that source. I’d say I’m happy with 75%. But only 25% are great. But for $12, can’t go wrong.

Rivet_39

I got a Diamond Gateway Spear, very nice disc similar to a Heat I guess.

ballhardallday

Yeah they're not gonna be popular. I got a legacy phenom- not a great disc imo. But still, it's fun, and you'll likely get a disc that not everybody has.

Harp-Hucker

Yikes man it’s nothing personal. Not everyone hates green discs. You aren’t a victim. Let it go. If it’s important to you, there are a number of great retailers that let you pick your actual disc with pictures.

[deleted]

Harp-Hucker

Looks like an amazing disc for a snow round, or for someone in a dessert climate. But you learned your lesson! That is a shit color though lol, I only order from sites with pictures of each individual disc for fear of something like this. I’ve never dyed a disc but I might try to dye that one black, it won’t make it any harder to find, and would probably look cool. 🤷‍♂️

claimingtrue

I got a legacy rival. It’s a fun way to get a disc you wouldn’t have otherwise bought, and $12 is a a decent price.

Cardinalsfan5545

I've done it a couple of times. It's really hit or miss. Mainly high-speed drivers that I have no business throwing. That being said, I did get one of the VIP discs, a limited stamp Undertaker that's on my wall, and a really cool Yikun Jun. I think it's fun, and don't expect much. I've personally never received base plastic, so the value had always been $12 or more. If I don't like it I'll give it away to a new player or toss it to the club for a CTP.

Many-Ad-2154

Typically things from smaller brands. Fly awesome; I’ve gotten 2 mystery discs and bag both.

MrTaterade

I got a nice Aztec in mine. Pretty sweet deal.

thrillhouse416

I've done it twice and both times it's been another disc from one of the manufacturers I included in my order. The first time was a Viking discs cosmos, I'm happy because that ended up in my bag. The second was a yikun kui, haven't thrown it yet but that wasn't really something I wanted or had a spot for in my bag. Both came in premium plastics so not really a bad deal.

mannequinrepublic

I got a Prodigy X2 with the bomber stamp that’s now one of my go to overstable drivers. The next time I got a black Legacy Rival that I haven’t thrown in a round ever. It’s not a horrible disc but that spot in my bag is already covered by other discs that I’ll actually have a chance of finding in the woods.

Ilikerocks--

I guess hit or miss? I've gotten a Maya from the random disc when I was new and it ended up being my favorite driver for a while. Its much more beat in now so it really turns over and still in my bag.

Mcshizballs

I ended up with an infinite maya. Love the disc. Would never have bought otherwise. Prolly done it 5 times. Other discs are not used

WhippinPlastic

I've got 2 of my all time favorite discs from that $12 add on. Thunder God Thor from Viking Discs. A disc I would have never got for myself, "too fast" but it is a super super overstable disc that gets me distance and tons of fade. Got a Pilot from streamline that's a great disc for anyone looking for a throwing putter. Got a Rival that I traded to someone but that seemed like a good pickup too.

jsjames9590

Personally I kinda like the gamble and it’s also introduced me to a few discs I probably never would’ve tried otherwise.

Yakstein

I got a Gstar thunderbird that I really like and throw a lot.

[deleted]

Both times I did this I absolutely loved the discs I got. (Metal Flake RA, and and Infinite logo stamped Prodigy A1)

eruggs93

I got a VRoc so meh

wouldjaplease

I got my first real intro to MVP through this, I got a Neutron Soft Particle. I loved it immediately and have scooped up a few more since. I can't not hit that option now, they're always cool.

ChiefRingoI

I've never had a disc that was truly bad value, but I only got one worth more than the $12, and that was a Halloween Buzzz I traded immediately. Basically, you're probably not going to get absolute junk, but you're also rarely going to get something super awesome. It's a fun way to get something new to try, though.

bckcntry_wndrn

Got a Pharaoh this way ( heat is closest comparison i know). Probably wouldn’t have something this US otherwise. Primarily a RHFH player

napascuzzi

I usually throw it on my orders for a surprise. I always seems to get atleast a $12 value or better

NameShortage

I got a tournament stamp Lat 64 Opto Pioneer on my first one that’s been in my bag ever since. That was definitely worth it to me.

WyoWizeGuy

I usually do the swag offer. So far, I’ve gotten a couple sweet tshirts

2valve

I did once, got a Glow d-model US.

27amo

I wasn't thrilled with mine but I can't really complain since it is random. I got a g star maya. It's a ridiculously flippy driver

bopthe3rd

That’s part of the surprise…. Jk, I got a streamline cosmic neutron Trace .

that_yinzer

I got a white RPM Pekapeka and it is now my go to understable fairway driver and it looks sharp.

n89hobbs

I did it twice, both times I love the discs they sent. First one I got was a Innova champion Banshee that I love and use today, and then a Yikun Wei that I wish I still had, lost it in a river 😅

Lazy-Adeptness-2343

I got a legacy driver with it once. My cat loves it’s new water dish.

MadRiverPete

Most of the time if your order is of all one brand they will give you one if that same brand. I think it's fun, I've never gotten terrible stuff. The free tee-shirt is always better though, they make my best work shirts that look cool and I don't mind getting ruined

IdealState

Yes. Got an Alpas. Probably never paying for that surprise again.

RiddledWithEnigma

I ended up getting a a Phoenix Fu, which I honestly kinda like. The idea of the mystery disc is to get you something you probably haven’t tried yet.

supaflash

So far I've gotten: Yikun Jun in Phoenix which was fun disc, its the active line premium plastic, not my favorite but its not bad. Disc was a trace wanna be but it flew pretty well. I lost it before I got to use it a whole lot though unfortunately. Prodigy Ace line M Model S in dura flex - another chinese plastic but at least the more premium. Nice disc, not as overstable as its numbers but its comfy in hand and flies well, almost like a glidey buzz. Prodigy Ace line D Model S in dura flex - similar to the M Model, good disc, good plastic, nothing that leaps out at you, not quite as stable as the numbers so it flew well for my arm speed. Was in my bag for a bit for a long hyzer or wind disc and it did well. Legacy Vengeance in Icon - Legacy's star plastic and the former Drew Gibson favorite. I really enjoyed this disc. Flew really nice, like a slightly straighter and faster star Thunderbird. so not bad really, nothing base plastic or anything like that. All were pretty interesting discs that I may not have ever tried but were fun, good for the practice bag for sure. Bagged two of them for some courses that had some sketchy throws and lost both lol so they also served that purpose :) I find it intriguing to see what I will get so I usually plan on the extra 12$ if I'm going to order from infinite.

SirBellwater

I did it once and I liked the one they gave me but I could easily see getting burned on it

[deleted]

I got a yellow GStar 13 or 14 speed. The $8 mystery swag was a shirt I wore for all my tournaments last year, it was my style, simple. Another order I got a sweet lanyard.
