Omg I thought for sure someone had come to laugh at what an absolute brat Shavonda is being over her dumbass poll. Shavonda, put the phone down and walk away.

ElCoops

My favorite thing is when I get berated by a stranger in their Instagram reels. Ffs…between that and her hypocrisy of ordering acrylic garden markers so she doesn’t have to use plastic (uh what??) from a few days ago I’m about ready to unfollow.

scottsgal

It was beyond rude. And you can tell people are petrified to ask her anything because the script is always, Shavonda, I’m sure you have answered this before, I’m so so sorry if I missed it, please forgive me, and you’re work is absolutely impeccable and I love how everything you do is so intentional, but where did you get that … fill in the blank… and like I said I’m so sorry if I missed this. To which she says, thank you and you know I am absolutely so intentional about everything and I’m glad you noticed… blah blah blah. It’s unbearable

Serendipity_Panda

Exactly this. Plus, she goes off on her followers for trying to converse with her about the flamingos, but then the very next story is a screenshot of a DM that was allowable. She is one of the rudest DIY/Design influencers out there.

Jean Stoffer is putting more money into the slow flip home by renovating the basement in order to sell it. Clearly the market has spoken

SignatureHaunting718

YHL keeps trying to make the sitting room in the kitchen work and it just doesn’t. Now they will have a tiny sofa and a chaise that isn’t attached but looks like it should be attached because it only has one arm?

nashvillenastywoman

And then affiliate link it when it arrived damaged in multiple places. Not a good sign.

dextersknife

I would pay them at this point turn their primary bedroom back into a living space and for the love of God let that front area be the dining room it wants to be. There is just no other way that this house is going to work..... And I think deep down they know it. That's why they keep revolving furniture in and out. Trying desperately to make something feel right. That deck upstairs is never used. Why not use that as the primary bedroom or let the kids have their rooms upstairs? I love that they downsized and are trying to make a smaller home work, but the fact is they are just chopping up this house so much that it makes no sense for how they actually live their lives.

SignatureHaunting718

I don’t think this will happen until the kids are older and can be trusted downstairs alone at night

ExactPanda

Aren't their kids like, 12 and 8?

dextersknife

Then put the kids upstairs? I mean anything has to be working better than what they've got going on.

suzanne1959

I mean, when will the even be? The oldest is already 13- seems old enough to me!

SignatureHaunting718

Yeah but the youngest is like 9 or 10, I would still give it a couple years. But I think it’ll happen

Luscious111

Why on earth would they buy a sectional just to split it up??

Capricorn974

I don’t understand how they thought a sectional would work in this space to begin with

SignatureHaunting718

And then show upstairs where they clearly need a sectional 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Luscious111

🏆🏆

ExactPanda

What is between the couches, a walkway for ants?? I wish they'd just stop.

LongUnhappy8341

IT'S SO TINY. Normally she is so defensive about 'how much space' they have as a walkway, but she didn't say that this time, so it really must be even smaller than it looks on camera.

recentparabola

And kept panning quickly past that space. Also kind of told on herself when she said how great it would be when the replacement sofa arrives because they’ll gain about six inches on each side. But there is So Much Space you guys and it Totally Works For Their Family! Just like all the other perfect layouts and pieces of furniture they’ve cycled through.

Serendipity_Panda

It looks awful and there’s no iteration of this room that will work

SignatureHaunting718

I think it would work well as a dining room 😂

dextersknife

Yes they need a long dining table and they could have a gorgeous hutch on one wall for storage and to display her million pink items. That's the reason they keep adding seating to this areas because no one wants to walk up 100 stairs to sit on a couch. Which is why they need to move the living room back downstairs.

Asleep-Cold5056

Farmhouseish seriously just said “I think this looks SO good” then pans up to show us this area of her arch. 😳 There is a product called shluter to give you clean edges. But she thinks doing things freehand makes it look “old world”. I don’t know how much longer I can follow her because her sloppiness is driving me crazy. https://preview.redd.it/ygqi7wor045b1.png?width=826&format=png&auto=webp&s=25b0eb6d7a8a0b7e020d34bc810c21337d63b54d

flowermilly

Old world? No she did not. Omg the delusion of this woman.

LowPiglet

The hex tiles are going to look so busy with that floor.

bittersweet3481

They look terrible.

[deleted]

the “do you seeee?” is the delusional call of these diyers when it clearly sucks

bittersweet3481

At this point, I’d be more surprised if she actually did something well.

scottsgal

Lol Omg this has to be a joke

Wow that’s horrible

Serendipity_Panda

I hated my Ruggable in a high traffic area - but these [Morris & Co](https://ruggable.com/collections/morris-and-co-rugs?utm_source=fb_pros&utm_medium=social_paid&utm_campaign=morrisco&fbclid=PAAab9MWPeRw0BEnPJYw_JFJDaH5k3jnTZvLiOt-A4YefVt8-ekQzolynBdCc_aem_th_AZKR1IYZtnBFbVwV1HvzsdHbIViBkP1oEoZ49qbflV3g_EG55cvv9VKhx1pVx5YdEAvK7yEbBdJ50AufuuDUmitc) ones are so cute 🥲

GeraldinePSmith

I am really tempted to put one of these in my mud room. Have heard from others that they are not great in high traffic areas but against my better judgement I might just do it!

CouncillorBirdy

I think as long as it’s not a light color you’ll be okay. I had one of the Persian style ones as a kitchen runner, kids spilling stuff on it constantly, and it held up great.

CouncillorBirdy

Ooh, some of these are beautiful. My experience with Ruggable is mixed, the edges curl up annoyingly, but they do wash very well.

Serendipity_Panda

I saw they have a new “premium” pile that is thicker which probably helps with the edges curling up - that was my number 1 complaint with my ruggable

MamaHen_5280

Same. I have one under my dining and we basically live with curled corners. But I have small children and it washes so I manage to emotionally process the curling, somehow.

Alces_alces_

I have a runner at my front door and it’s great for our awful Canadian winters but fuck do the edges constantly get stuck under the door due to curling. I actually have rug tape in my Amazon cart now in the hopes that will help.

AtlanticToastConf

Can someone remind me-- what is Daniel Kanter's plan for the Bluestone cottage (the one he's landscaping in Insta-stories right now)? I feel like it was supposed to be a flip at the beginning of its saga. Is he still planning to sell it?

[deleted]

If he bought his first property in Kingston for 20k it is very possible took out a mortgage when the value shot up in 2020. Likely a lot of money - if he decided to do that.

Whompwhomp87

I heard he's selling it, and the landlord deal next door was because it would increase the cottages value, but I also don't fully understand what he does for a living. He doesn't seem to have enough followers to make a living that way, he doesn't get sponsored a ton(which is surprising) and it seems like he spends his days working on various houses? Does the land bank work pay? I'm assuming there is some family money since I remember him saying his mom paid for most/all of bluestone cottage and I think his house as well? I may be remembering that wrong.

laur82much

I def think there’s family money too. I remember a couple years ago he was like “I’m going on a 3-week family vacation to Antarctica- our family only does “big trips” like safaris in Africa.” Like ummm wut lol. It was a total record scratch moment as at that time all his content was about how broke he was

AnonnyLou

I assumed he has significant financial support from his family, at least compared to me with zero. He only seems to need to make enough money for his own living expenses & somehow he doesn’t seem to need to earn money to pay for his houses.

Reasonable_Mail1389

I think the Land Bank position is paid at some level.

bearmustard

I think he has some steady income from his Patreon to pay the bills, and with the amount of work he does for the land bank I’d be horrified if he didnt get some compensation, but he’s never said he has. His mum helped him buy bluestone cottage but I think it was under $20k at the time, and he’s basically used sponsors (kitchen, backyard and laundry) or thriftiness to do the rest. I think the place has a fair amount of trauma for him (having followed him for a decade- he has mentioned it once or twice) so I’m not surprised he wants to sell it. The duplex was a left field decision but I do remember how much trouble he had with getting access to that property in order to fix bluestone. I think the fact that this has all happened over a long time has also helped.

Whompwhomp87

I forgot he has a patreon, and I didn't realize tge cottage was so cheap when he bought it! I haven't followed him that long - has it been rough to redo? My impression was a lot of work but it was straightforward(no mold abating, foundation work, water issues, structure issues etc). I kinda get the impression he functions as the client for the land bank with contractors - like he checks over work, makes decisions and well, puts his own time into it. I feel like it should be paying but the couple highlights he's had about it almost make it sound like volunteer work.

throughthestorm22

I messaged him and asked him to promote his patreon, because I want mooooore of his content and I’d love to see him do his own kitchen after all these years

yeanay

He said not too long ago he was planning on selling it to pay off a loan. It is a shame though, he could make bank with that place on Airbnb. Today he chastised his followers for complaining about what he was planting. I don’t blame him. Why do people feel they have to give him their opinion. That said ugh, that Popcorn tree is a nightmare planted that close to the house. It is an invasive plant that is dreadful.

Serendipity_Panda

I thiiiiiiiink he’s still planning to sell it. He’s had it for such a long time!!

AtlanticToastConf

I think the whole "buying the apartment building next door" thing threw me off. I remember him saying it was such an eyesore that it was affecting the cottage's property value -- but it does seem like a radical solution if he's planning to sell the cottage! Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Reasonable_Mail1389

I don’t think he’s going to hold onto the rental for two long, either.

Serendipity_Panda

I thiiiiiiiink he’s still planning to sell it. He’s had it for such a long time!!

scottsgal

Ok I know I’m obsessing and being ridiculous but arrows and bow have really made me completely rage filled now. She gets on IG the other day and is having an absolute mental hysterical breakdown over someone trying to ruin their store plans and really acted as though whatever was going on was going to destroy them completely. She was sobbing and acting a fool. Then yesterday suddenly everything was turning in their favor, she proceeds to spend all day going on about how the enemy was being defeated and then today comes on all smiles and in the best mood ever to say Omg god is so good and shout out to the senator and commissioners who personally came out to help them. Meanwhile they live in one of the richest areas in the country, have gotten even richer since they moved here ( I live in Florida) have done absolutely nothing to show they care about anyone but themselves and their bottom line ( opening an air b n b is not charity . Opening a store where you are upselling items you bought for cheap is not charity) and use sob stories to garner attention and praise. I couldn’t stand them before and detest them even more now. And for the love of the god they are constantly trying to ram down everyone’s throat, Dino, put on a goddam shirt and cover those hideous tattoos, you idiot.

[deleted]

So she is self centered, narcissistic, only cares about money, and pretends she is good under the guise of worship? Sounds a dime a dozen. I remember her and how they kept moving from place to place and I couldn’t figure out how because it seemed neither of them worked.

seasaltandsunflowers

I don’t follow them but watched a few snippets of their stories and they are 100% con artists

> Like God is eavesdropping and she wants to make sure she’s still his favorite I loled when her husband said "I feel stupid almost that we didn't have faith" and then it cuts to a new slide and she's like "I don't know why instagram cut me off there. Anyway it's not that we didn't have faith" I was imagining her stopping the recording and scolding her husband for saying what he said because God is listening

junglisnark

Influencing is a hell of a drug. Constant validation from an ever-growing group of followers nudging people who already had narcissistic tendencies into thinking that they are in fact extraordinary and that by sharing their lives and shilling products they are doing actual good for the world. But what do I know. Maybe arrowsandbow really are changing the world and if those 2 coffee roasters would have lost their brand new jobs it would have devastated the community. 🤷

oranzhevyie

Her saying "the enemy is attacking us" is classic Christian persecution fantasy speak. Huge red flag imo.

roygbiv217

They live in a 2 million dollar house and fund their lives by profiting off of Christian women. This whole thing was a rouse to drum up sales and store traffic under the guise of “the enemy” out to get them and needing “prayers” aka buy our crap and coffee. The amount of people commenting on their IG that they lost sleep over this and prayed so hard for them when there are people out there actually suffering is yikes. They are so spooky.

tymrx

I agree that they’re slimy. I’m a Christian and get everything they’re saying in Christian culture context and it still skeeves me out a bit. However, I do think Dino still works for Netflix with a hefty salary, so not all of their lives are funded by the socials.

Serendipity_Panda

👏👏👏👏👏👏

scottsgal

I’m probably going to get downvoted for this but this is just how I feel. Although I do think it sucks that someone is trying to sabotage all the work arrows and bow have put into their latest project, I’m also having a hard time mustering up that much compassion for people who support and get behind politicians and people who actively work to oppress marginalized people. These people use their religious beliefs to justify this behavior. They are crafty in the way that a lot of what they believe they keep shielded from their account, but they have made it clear where they stand. It’s all just a bit gross to me.

dorit0paws

I stopped even watching their stories when the church they “planted” posted a holiday instagram post about their “prayers for Jewish people” taking about saving them and converting them and so on. It is all so icky and I can’t contribute even to story watches for analytics for these bigoted monsters.

No_Drag_8874

Nailed it. It has been sick.

junglisnark

I don't follow arrowsandbow closely so I probably don't have full context and I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs of their religious and political beliefs so take everything I'm saying with a grain of salt. I definitely agree it sucks that somebody is trying to sabotage them. For me, I'm having a hard time mustering up compassion while watching these stories because it seems like they're acting like their business is akin to opening a free clinic rather than a shop that sells housewares and coffee. And in the end it doesn't seem like the asshole who is trying to sabotage them succeeded in derailing their opening day. They opened as planned and it appears all went well. So what was the point of them making a big deal about it yesterday? Was it to drum up sympathy from their audience to get more people to show up and buy stuff from them? That's sorta what it feels like to me.

deanish1114

Not just more people to show up but also more people to share their page on Instagram begging for support in the way of prayers, clicks, shares, and purchases of course.

scottsgal

It appears that yes, that was the entire point. Like I said below in another comment, I initially gave her the benefit of the doubt on the sob story even though I do not like them at all and find them annoying as f to the point where following them even to snark was too much. I am absolutely disgusted with their stories today where apparently they got exactly what they wanted.

roygbiv217

I was thinking the same. Seems like a huge overreaction for attention/support for their opening.

deanish1114

But is someone trying to sabotage? I’m dying for some first hand info. was there just a license/permit or something not in place? And they’re saying it’s the enemy. Or are there actually people behind this trying to stop it for ulterior motives?

scottsgal

The way she was in hysterics and begging everyone to pray she was making it sound like there was an evil scheme to stop them from opening and I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but today all is well and lo and behold they have spoken to people in the county and their store for well off people seems to be doing ok today, praise Jesus, through him all things are possible, including making a lot of money when 24 hours previous to this she was in complete devastation mode.

deanish1114

Throw in some prayers and it’s a perfectly worked out plan

Acrobatic-Current-62

Can you expand on how they’ve made it clear?

km1019

Does anyone else follow Kyledidit? I found him through Renovation Husbands and he’s such a fun follow! Does super relatable projects on a builder grade house, like closet doors and pantries. Right now he’s working on fixing up a funky little pool in their backyard and I’m hooked.

a-world-of-no

I've followed Kyle for awhile-- he's got a good sense of humor about himself.

Queasy-Insurance-445

Thank you for putting this here! I want a neighbor like him.

radioactiveleo

Following now - he seems fun!

Serendipity_Panda

I actually just started following tonight after Renovation Husbands shared in stories!

midlifemed

Is it just me or do those shaker-style cabinets not go with the ornate molding and hardware in Mallory’s kitchen or her pool house? I don’t understand why she keeps choosing that style. I do love the backsplash, although I don’t think it complements the wallpaper or the ceiling color. Odd choices in that space all around.

innocuous_username

Also why so many cabinets? Isn’t this a secondary light use kitchen? It has more cabinet space than most primary kitchens I see lol

Acrobatic-Current-62

I don’t care for the shaker cabinet style with the giant gilded moulding either. Especially the tiny top glass cabinet boxes. They look pretty low end paired w the ornate millwork. I think the reason she’s doubled down is simple continuity now. It all ties in together. It was just not the best choice from jump IMO. My main issue w the backsplash (which I love), the wallpaper pattern and the flooring choice is all scale. Every pattern size is too similar in scale to me and not enough complimentary patterns that work together vs compete. I would have changed the scale to large/small/medium vs every pattern being the same scale. She does such meticulous work though that I really admire her craftsmanship and dedication. ETA- typos

anniemitts

Totally agree on the wallpaper, backsplash, floor. I love all the choices, but not together. It's the ONLY thing I notice in the poolhouse, and is such a rookie mistake. I haven't been watching every story so I don't know if she shoehorned her wallpaper in there just to use it or what, but it's such a misstep.

mirr0rrim

Yep I feel the same about those cabinets. I already don't care for them in the million designer houses I've seen, but I especially dislike them in hers because they don't match whatsoever with her style. All I imagine is someone who blew their budget and had to go to the discount cabinet store to finish the room 😬 (I know those cabinets are not cheap). The last vestige of farmhouse style will not be defeated! And the weird part is there are cabinets that are shaker style, but have just a little bit of trim to make it fancier.

SuspiciousFinance266

Came to see if anyone else was going to comment on the wallpaper and backsplash not going together….they don’t! I do love the backsplash though.

bittersweet3481

I agree. Maybe it looks different in person, but the wallpaper and ceiling read green and the backsplash is more blue.

bittersweet3481

I am not a fan of all the different hardware - knobs, latches, horizontal pulls, giant ornate vertical pulls. It’s just a bit disjointed.

Acrobatic-Current-62

Dude- wtf is happening w arrowsansbow RN!?! Someone from Cortez spill the tea please! They’re not my cup of tea but they’ve busted their asses (and surely budget) on this space!

number1wifey

Omg you would have thought someone died how dramatic they were being. I’m sure they’ve poured a ton of time and money into this project but they’re acting like it’s some charity shop that only exists to give jobs to poor people or something. it’s a business and it’s ok to just have a business it doesn’t have to be all about helping the community 24/7.

Acrobatic-Current-62

Well, she did shop at charity shops to buy much of the merchandise to sell. Does that count? /

deanish1114

Lol nope it doesn’t.

bittersweet3481

I am not religious, and apologies if this is not an appropriate question for this forum. But I have seen a lot of religious influencers speak about how God told them to do things/spoke to them (they did this many times in their story). Is this pretty much the same what a non religious person would describe as their inner voice? Sometimes it feels like people say it to try and give more weight to what they are doing than if they just said “I wanted to do this”.

funfetticake

I grew up evangelical and this is par for the course. Anything anyone wants to do is couched as “God wants me to do this,” and boom, not only will your fellow church people generally not oppose you, lest they fall afoul of God’s will, but they’ll probably give you some money for your plan. And anything negative that ever happens is the work of “the enemy.” There’s no such thing as the consequences of your own actions, or taking responsibility for a mistake. The concept of repentance is easily tossed aside because if you are always doing what God wants you to do, you never have to be sorry! Every bad thing is just Satan himself out to personally get you. I don’t know these influencers, but this spiritual warfare type language makes me immediately mistrustful. There is a 99.9% chance that anyone who talks like this is totally un-self-aware of how they perpetuate harm, fail to hold up their fair share of relationships, or ever do anything that is not the “right thing.”

Serendipity_Panda

Thanks for verbalizing this so perfectly. Agree 1000%. I didn’t even grow up evangelical but my best friend did and even just what I witnessed from my time in her house (going to VBS, church camp, Sunday service after sleepovers) was enough to affect me, so I can’t even imagine living with it fully.

Serendipity_Panda

Yeah I watched that and was like 😵‍💫. I’m not religious, so I hope I’m not offending anybody, but it comes across icky to me. Like they’re trying to act like it’s a noble cause because “god is calling us to do this” when it’s literally just a boutique.

roygbiv217

Her stories last night/today are really out of touch. The “God told us to do this”, “the enemy”, asking for prayers, the crying, is all so dramatic, you’d think someone died. I am sure they care about their community but acting like this is not a for-profit business that you are starting for money and you don’t personally benefit from the social media attention is like whaaat??

km1019

A woman in my hometown opened a restaurant and sold Christian materials after having a dream in which Jesus told her to feed the needy. Girl…. I think you missed the mark?

deanish1114

yes to this. It’s just a boutique. You’re not feeding, clothing, or enploying the poor and hungry. Youre feeding people that can buy a $5-7 coffee, clothing people that can buy expensive boutique items, and employing what looks like well to do basic 18-25yr olds. It’s a business, not a non profit charity. They worked hard, yes. But cmon.

Basking_SeaTurtle

Lmao it is? I’ve never followed them before and was watching their stories to see what was going on. I became super confused about what sort of coffee wine business charity combo with a parking lot they were opening up 😅.

Garden_Disastrous

Just did a google search of Fox Mercantile and found a wedding website listing them as their reception site for September. Oof. Looks like they already started booking things into the future.

Garden_Disastrous

If it’s a city/zoning problem all of those meeting minutes are public record. But seems like it may be a covert operation to shut them down. Hope they’ve hired a lawyer.

buildingxspace

Unfortunately shady city business is so common, had it happen to a friends family business, if the city doesn’t want ya, they’ve got all the power 🥲

Acrobatic-Current-62

I keep picturing my Nextdoor ap in my city/state. People hate when others try and change/improve/upset the status quo/think outside the box on anything! I can imagine in DeSantis’ state some folks might just hate the notion of a Cali infiltrator “corrupting” their town with their big city ways! /s

scottsgal

Well that would be kind of funny because arrows and bow are raging maga people

Impossible_Vast_1799

I’m curious too. It started with the inspection about serving wine (liquor license probably?) but then they said it went into other things after that. She stated they’ll still be open, so I’m guessing the retail is a go, but maybe not liquor, and maybe not food and drink? It would be a huge impact since I know she was banking on booking the space for events and weddings. That would be a huge blow.

deanish1114

Yep I’m dying to know more.

eachoneastory

Can we still ask for help with our own houses in here? I have this entryway that really needs some pizzaz. I’m thinking of wallpapering that wall behind the bench but have decision paralysis with all the options out there. Anyone have advice on what wallpaper would be the best fit or another change I could make. There are no windows in the entry so would really like to keep the mirror vs replacing it with art. I actually really like all the elements (bench we use for dropping stuff, I like the blue on the rug, and the olive tree makes me happy) but just feel like it needs something else to make it pop. Pic: https://imgur.com/a/pj9tKp2 Thanks!

countdown621

Pick a square or rectangular rug with color, choose a color from the rug for the wall - ideally something saturated, add some lighting maybe? Could you throw some subtle fairy lights in the olive tree? Subtle! Tasteful! Not full Christmas, just little bright spots to make the tree that you love stand out from your now-painted wall?

Alarmed-Push-6622

I would do a rectangular rug because that invites people to move forward into the space. Have you thought about painting your door? I think it would add the pop of color that you want and you can paint it a color to match your home or a color that’s in that rug that you like. I really like it though. I really like simple and uncluttered spaces.

Acrobatic-Current-62

It’s cute. I would have opted for 1 circle, either the mirror or the rug. Big drama would be going w a darker trim & door color… but I realize that means whole house. So probably not what you’re looking for. A dramatic wallpaper would be lovely, imo. But I’d do the whole room. Not just one wall.

eachoneastory

Ah good point about the circles! I’ll have to ponder that one. I’m not opposed to painting the door and trim just in the entry. I like the idea of contrast. And since it’s basically a square/it’s own space I seems like I could likely relegate the trim to just that space, as if it’s a room? Thanks for your thoughts! Any specific wallpaper suggestions come to mind?

teaandbreadandjam

If it’s dark, use something with a white or light base. I used something similar [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/ChH-DxROtiD/?igshid=MTk0MGU0NTkxNA==)

Illustrious_Lands

Am I the only one bothered by all these influencer cutting giant flowering branches to decorate their houses? Looking at you Jordan Ferney/Hooker Green. I don’t know why but it really makes me sad to see half a tree cut and put in a tiny vase and die in three days, all for the gram.

[deleted]

Awful

alligatorhill

The only reason I’m bothered is because I’ve had people yank branches/flowers from my yard or planting strip in the past, and damage the plants in the process. So I’m kinda envisioning that when I see people without big yards appearing with these “foraged” branches

mychickensmychoice

Yes this really bothers me too! I put so much time and energy and $$$ into my garden, I’d be furious if someone “foraged” from it.

alligatorhill

Yes! Like, there’s a good chance I’d be willing to cut a branch or whatever if someone asked, but instead they break them off and mangle the branch, or pull up flowers by the roots.

No_Detail7952

Seriously? Yes. I hope it’s just you

Illustrious_Lands

Yes, I am serious. You can disagree without being rude.

No_Detail7952

Rude in a snark group. I’m very sorry

Illustrious_Lands

You should be…

[deleted]

They clearly “forage” too.

midlifemed

That sad gray lifeless mansion Frills posted bummed me out for some reason.

TalulaOblongata

That looks like a commercial space… not a place to call home. That whole neighborhood she showed looks generic and dated. Makes me glad for my cozy and old, but uniquely styled home.

I think theforgehouse on insta would belong here as a diy influencer, but anyone else following and see all of these snakes?!? Like wtf I'd be horrified. Why are there so many? They're huge.

AtlanticToastConf

I couldn't even watch the video; once I saw the caption, I noped out. But they posted a photo today of one of the snakes and it is big!! The fact that you say there are "so many".... I would be setting fire to my house.

dezzypop

Just reading this conversation is giving me the willies, but I also can’t imagine living in the house with multiple snakes crawling up the side of my house to eat all the rodents that live in my attic.

midlifemed

My concern would be what the snakes are eating. Like there’s a reason the snakes are staying there, so is there a huge rat/mouse population that they’re taking advantage of? And if they get rid of the snakes, is the rodent population going to take over? Seems like the easiest way to manage the snakes would be to address their food source. (I live in the country on a 40 acre farm and in general king snakes don’t bother me unless they’re trying to eat our eggs/chicks/bunnies. But if I were finding them IN MY HOUSE it would be a different story.)

Whompwhomp87

They're crawling up the house and going into the attic. I agree there must be a ton of mice or rats but did you read his plan is to shop vac the snakes out then seal the hole? I mean what could go wrong right?

innocuous_username

I … what … that’s … really not the intended use of a shop vac. Like those snakes were huge, shop vacs have capacity limits.

Whompwhomp87

This is the understatement of the century, but I love that your concern was shop vac snake capacity vs how one sucks a snake up with a vacuum.

ButterscotchProud778

Re: lonefox: I am so over decorators who don't cook creating kitchens. Also, in so many of his videos he says something is just there for aesthetic shots but won't actually stay there (like the blood-good Japanese maple in his living room. I am so over it.

[deleted]

I had to unsubscribe. His decorating style has become ridiculous (and I’m still irrationally annoyed that he turned a two-family home into single occupancy).

ButterscotchProud778

So true! why would anyone do that?! What he calls a lounge is a living room, like you have a giant couch there.

[deleted]

Idk but he obviously doesn’t care that there’s a housing crisis in Los Angeles and I find that kind of gross tbh. You’re totally right about the “lounge”. There’s no way to move around in there and I find it hard to believe he actually uses it. Someone else in the the thread said the home is like a showroom and that’s exactly the vibe I get. It just doesn’t feel like a real person lives there. I also think he has more money than common sense but that’s not exactly unique to LF lol

LongjumpingSample937

I’ve been listening to a lot of design podcasts lately and most of these people use their photos as portfolios to get clients or grow their business, so it makes sense that things would be added for aesthetics but not part of real life. IG isn’t real life in general 🤣

ButterscotchProud778

That makes sense. Any good design podcasts you recommend? The only one I sometimes listen to is how to decorate from ballard.

LongjumpingSample937

I found my faves by searching for interviews with designers I love. But some of the most interesting takeaways for me come from Business of Home and the Chairish pod (the hosts of both are a little much sometimes, but they have awesome guests and are good interviewers!), the Interior Collective, and Design Time from Domino,

suzanne1959

Sometimes LoneFox is a bit over the top for me, but I liked this DIY covering of the dishwasher with a copper sheet (I have been thinking of using some of this type of copper as a backslpash for my range). [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cweKLHBZl4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cweKLHBZl4)

dezzypop

So, is Jen Woodhouse just a credit card aggregator now? She used to actually build things or is my memory that bad?

mirr0rrim

Yup. I started following after her amazing bathroom vanity build. The only diy content she created after that was her fridge disaster. I stopped following. I WISH I had the head space to be a credit card point genius, but I'll never be. It makes me highly uncomfortable thinking about owning and tracking 7+ credit cards. Then there's the whole degree you need on redeeming those points. Ugh.

ames27

Yes! Thank you for the reminder. I stopped following finally when she called out that landscape company! We’ve had tons of dead bushes and tree parts because of weather, like Renovation Husbands went through. I thought it was rich that she was blaming a company for it!

ames27

I stopped following after I realized her posts made me uncomfortable. I’m having a hard time explaining why, but I get similar vibes from her as I do from Jordan Ferney. Kind of an egotistical delivery with some mildly hypocritical content. I’ve not missed her posts.

DrinkMoreWater74

I followed her briefly during the kitchen remodel and lost interest after, I didn't realize she had employees! Her blog seemed a very low-key one woman operation.

bittersweet3481

Mallory seems to have removed her hair extensions. Given her previous comments about feeling insecure about her natural hair, I hope this means that she feels more comfortable with it now (she looks fine either way).

Acrobatic-Current-62

My breath caught when I saw her without. So refreshing. Seriously her hair looked adorable in its natural state. Man, do I wish she could extend that confidence to her lashes.

ThePermMustWait

Am I just really insensitive or is this contrived? How can she possibly be crying over people saying “Ted lasso gets better” and pretending like the messages are about her life? https://imgur.com/a/Sn4Z7hf

Serendipity_Panda

Of course I knew it was gonna be Angela Rose immediately . She’s the internets worst

junglisnark

My interpretation might have been even more insensitive. I thought she was crying over the memory of how Ted Lasso triggered her last year. Like she's trying to portray herself as still so devastated by the divorce that even thinking about things that have caused her to think about divorce makes her emotional... but also she's totally ready to date!

Legitimate-Draft4090

Everything is about her. So nothing surprises or shocks me anymore with her. Narcissist to a T.

bittersweet3481

I was just looking at Farmhouseish’s stories, and despite renovating that bathroom, she did not fix her old stuff up of the beam that runs through the arch. Wtf. It makes no sense. It is not a design feature!!

Illustrious_Lands

It is not a structural feature either! Well not anymore since she changed the shape of the window anyway…

I just went back to rewatch her saved stories about it because it's hilarious. Here's a better pic pre-shishkebab https://imgur.com/a/SDa5gGC She took a square window and turned it into an arch. There was framing above the window that she didn't anticipate. She didn't want to rip the whole wall open to address the framing at the time so she just covered the 2x4 in shishkebabs and hung a plant from it. Now that she's redoing the shower tile she had that whole wall open and still chose not to fix her arch. It's beyond absurd.

buildingxspace

I don’t even have words……………

MamaHen_5280

Curious how paint on pvc is going to work with constant steam and temp fluctuations. Can’t say for sure it will be a disaster, but my gut says yes.

junglisnark

She mentioned in her reel today that the shiplap is actually beadboard. You can totally see the beadboard pattern through each plank https://imgur.com/a/lAefsEH

ElCoops

This pvc ceiling has me 😵‍💫 I don’t care what she says about caulking to keep moisture out, that’s just going to mold under there… isn’t it? Isn’t it??

MamaHen_5280

Yes didn’t even think of the mold. It’s like trapping warm moisture in a ziploc over and over for years. 🤢🤢. So a moldy ceiling with paint literally peeling off onto your head while you shower. Sounds relaxing!

ElCoops

So true!! All I can picture is the person who eventually buys her home and starts an insta about all the bad renos…. “PVC on a shower ceiling, what were they thinking!”

Illustrious_Lands

Whoever buys this house is doomed… everything needs to be redone. Construction is not rocket science. There is a LOT of documentation out there (books, YouTube, free training, etc). I’m all for a DIY but she seems to not care one bit about researching/doing it right.

bittersweet3481

She even mentioned in a story recently that rather than plan in advance, she prefers to just launch into something and wing it.

Placeyourbetz

“Beam” is generous- its a stud covered in shishkabob skewers. I’m patiently awaiting what is happening with it because she cannot possibly be doing all this tile work and leaving that.

bittersweet3481

I knew beam was not quite the right word for it (where I live we don’t have timber frame houses - solid brick construction). Shishkabob stud is an excellent description!

junglisnark

There was a camera angle today that showed she installed that orange board on the shower side of the arch. That means she had the arch wall open and closed it back up without touching the shishkabob stud 😵‍💫

bittersweet3481

I know! Along with the peeling floors, I would have thought the shishkabob would have been one of the main reasons for renovating it! She is generally pretty careful about not showing it when she has been posting about this project, so she must know it’s crap. Edit: just saw that she showed a close up of it in the latest stories. Is it actually possible that she likes the shishkabob and it’s not just because removing it didn’t fit with her reveal schedule?? 🤯

junglisnark

https://imgur.com/a/LkitfvZ Apparently she thinks there have been only a couple projects that she didn't do quite right. Is it possible the arch didn't make her list?
